I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello,I'm facing some little problems that a clean install would definately solve them, but I'm afraid that if I install onekey recovery afterwords, it won't be or can't be 100% integrated with the system. There's this novo key on the side that it brings onekey recovery if i shut my laptop and then press it, would it work later after a clean install of windows OS and reinstalling onekey recovery? Is there anything that is really useful by Lenovo that I'm going to miss out on, if i do a clean install? Is there any risks at all?Thank U guys

Is there a guide on how to do a clean install of Windows on a brand new Yoga X1 3rd gen? I want to make sure to get rid of any bloatware. I plan to download Windows 1809 if it is indeed available for download next Tuesday Oct 2nd and install fresh that way. How can I obtain my product key so I can activate windows after the clean install? Will I need to power on the machine and extract the key some how before doing the clean install? Or should there be a product key on a label on the computer or something that comes in the box that has it? Finally, is there a hidden partition or something that makes re-installing easy in the future? If so, how can I update it to the 1809 version that I am hopefully getting next week. Thanks!

A:New Yoga X1 G3, clean install of windows

I've done it.  There is no problem with the key.  It is stored in the BIOS and the machine will activate automatically.  If you are asked for a product key during the install, selecct the option to say you don''t have a key now.

Hi, thank you for the instructions, but I already deleted ALL partitions.  Well, I was already going your way before I discovered this, but without the "keep the USB Stick plugged in" because I used my Desktop PC to create the bootable USB stick. Now I am having the problem in installing Windows 8.1 with UEFI only. I can't boot from USB stick with UEFI, formatted with FAT32 and used the Windows USB Tool to create the media exactly like your instructions in this case. What can I do?  I also tried installing from a second partition but the Windows setup says that there is a MBR-partition table so I am not able to install Windows on that drive. On the other hand Acronis Disk Director isn't able to format the SSD to GPT......that's a real dilemma.....I am at the end of my knowledge. Can somebody help me?

On a Yoga 3 pro that had a corrupted and unbootable version of Windows 8.

I've managed to create a USB boot drive that the computer recognizes, I've deleted all partitions but when I attempt the clean reinstall I get "Windows cannot install required files, make sure all files required for the installation are available and restart the installation. Error code 0x8007013".

I've tried it multiple times with multiple USB drives. I've tried the Windows Media Creation tool (the computer won't even recognize it), I've tried it making a USB stick with Rufus (see above problem) and I've tried making one with Windows Media Creation tool, copying all the files off it, formatting with Rufus and copying all the files back, same problem. I've tried with Secure Boot on and with it off, I've tried with UEFI on and with it set to Legacy. No luck.

I'm normally pretty good at this, but this has me stumped. Any assistance would be appreciated.

hello, I just did a clean install of windows 10 on my yoga 900-13ISK2. can somone provide me instructions on how to reinstall drivers (i get you download the file from the site and just execute it) but i know drivers and utilities required to be installed in certain order. I also want to make sure i install all of the drivers and not put any bloat wear. My computer is a signature edition, so i would like to install all drivers and programs that came out the box.

A:Yoga 900 Laptop windows clean install

Drivers are of course needed for the hardware devices on your system to work properly, and many will be delivered by Windows Update, but I would probably update them with the versions found on the Lenovo Support site.   The order that they are installed, however, is not really important as long as you reboot when requested.   As far as software and utilities, you don't really need any of those for your laptop to work, and only you can determine what software or utilities you think are useful, and what you consider bloatware. Cheers,

Hello, I have decided to do a clean install of Windows 10 Professional (x64) on my Lenovo X1 Yoga (20FQ). I'm currently pulling my hair out trying to install Windows 10 in UEFI mode, I want to do this so I can use the full functionality of the TPM chip and bitlocker. No matter what I do I have not been able to install Windows 10 Professional (x64) in UEFI mode, I've only been able to install it in legacy mode. I've tried multiple configurations of the BIOS in terms of disabling Legacy/enable UEFI OS to boot but when I put the BIOS in UEFI only mode the Windows 10 Professional (x64) USB key (that I've created using the .iso downloaded with the Microsoft Download Tool), the machine refuses to boot from the USB key or the PCIe-NVMe when in UEFI Only mode. Can someone point me to a guide for installing Windows in UEFI mode?

Hello, I just recently clean installed windows 10 on my Lenovo Yoga 500-14IBD, replacing the 1TB HDD with a 128GB SSD (I don't have that much stuff). Computer seems to launch apps faster (most of the time) and also starts up faster, but my internet browsing is still kind of laggy.  So i'm wondering If i need to change the computer in anyway (BIOS, etc?) now it has a SSD rather than the shipped with HDD. Also, the clean install has taken all my preinstalled Lenovo programs so I also wonder if this will affect the performance of my laptop(- or is it better)? Because I went to the support page for my laptop and downloaded a driver for the touchpad thinking it would be the newest available and before it downloaded it said it was older than the driver it would be replacing, which I thought strange and it's got me asking if the support page is kept up to date? Ideally I would download a Lenovo app that ckecks my system for out of date or absent Lenovo software that should be there. If anyone could answer those questions I would be extremely grateful. Thanks, David

Hello guys!

I have been chocking on this problem for 2 days now, to no avail. The short story: Tried to do the built in free windows upgrade on the computer (from windows 8.1), but something went wrong, and I ended up in the "Please restart to being the installation of windows 10" loop.
After trying several workarounds, I gave up, and opted for a clean install of the product from a USB drive.

The install went smooth, and most things were working out of the box, but not the touch screen. Then I went to the product page, and downloaded all the drivers there are. Installed every one of them, but still no touch input. Tried some troubleshooting tips, like trying to find the driver in the device manager, but it's not present there. So far, I tried everything there was in the first 4 pages of google (with an insane amount of search combinations).

Nothing...Then I read it, that several other people had this issue, but with an earlier insider build of windows. They said the only solution there was, is to use the built in recovery, but out of routine, with a clean install, I deleted every other partition... not giving a thought something could go wrong.

Now the device has no touch input, and sicne that was one of the main sell points, I'm not too happy about it.

The System window clearly states, that there is no pen or touch input available.

It's a fresh buy, so it's still under warranty, and if nothing else works, I will return it, ... Read more

I'm truly at my ends dealing with this issue, and searching without luck for a fix. As stated above, I've got a 2015 era Lenovo Yoga 12 (S2?) 20DK that has been used on and off over the last 18 months. About 6 months ago it started; while flipping the screen from laptop mode to tablet mode, the screen will flicker a few times and after completing the transition to tablet the screen is off. Won't power up, nothing. Now during the act of flipping to tablet mode I can stop at certain points before folding it totally flat into tablet mode, and it will work fine (keyboard/mouse disabled, screen rotation works). There seems to be a sweet spot at about a 45 degree angle in tablet mode that it works fine. Even like that, if I even bump it a little more towards full on flipped back tablet mode, it'll shutdown. I've just been ignoring the problem for the most part but for a new job I started I need it to go into full tablet mode. Everything works fine in traditional Laptop Mode. I've tried updating the Driver, BIOS, and Windows.I've disabled the Sensor Data Service and Sensor Monitoring ServiceTried using a strong magnet on different points around bottom of bezel to "fool" any sensors Nothing is working. My gut always assumed this was hardware related due to a bad sensor of some sort but I cant find anything close to this issue using Google-Fu. Hi there I would like to make a clean install of Windows 10 Pro on my Yoga 460 as it is very sluggish and did actually even freeze since I received it yesterday. Being completely new to Windows 10, Touchscreen-Devices and UEFI I am not sure which is the best way to go arround this. Entering the recovery (disrupting startup) seems like the best method for a completely clean install. Is there any easier way for that? Secondly, I would like to only install the minimum of Lenovo programs which are needed in order to use all of the features of the device. Most, if not all, to me seem like there are only an overlay of the Windows settings. Does anyone know what is required. Are only the drivers needed for the operation of the multimedia buttons/pen/touchpad/touchscreen/etc? I would be very thankful for any help/advice/link/... Take care Yogaguy

Hi all.First of all sorry for my bad English. And here is my problem:I just bought a new laptop "Yoga 2 Pro". Because I have a legal copy of Windows 8.1 Pro I decided to reinstall the system. Before re installing BIOS UI looked normal but after re installation of the operating system BIOS UI looks strange and can not use it. You can see it on the attached photos. I tried to reinstall the system a few times but immediately after installation BIOS UI looked like in the pictures. Interesting that after removing system from SSD, BIOS UI is starting to look normal and is fully functional. I even tried different versions of the operating system because I thought that the cause lies with the ISO file. The effect has always been the same. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this problem?I will be grateful for any suggestions.

Let me start out by saying a clean install is the better way to go; however there may be some instances where a motherboard swap without having to reinstall is preferred. If you are like me and want to avoid all of the custom settings, shared drives, etc; then this option can save a LOT of time.
Recently I did this task on my own network storage system or home server. Some more modern parts became available to me for doing a build. Not only was the motherboard swapped, the system drive was cloned from an ide drive to a more modern sata drive. Here is how you go about swapping boards without a clean install.
This will work on both sata and ide type drives however if you have sata and the sata controller mode is set to AHCI or Raid, you may have problems. If your sata controller mode is set to ahci, you can attempt to swap to native ide in the system bios before beginning this task. If it boots using native ide, then you should be able to do the swap. If it does not boot when changing the controller mode, then you are out of luck.
The old motherboard was a NForce4 with a single core AMD FX-55. The new board was an Epox 945 intel chipset with a Pentium D 940. It does not get much more different than those two chipsets/cpus.

With the old board still installed, do the following. During this procedure, DO NOT reboot. Tell the system later for the reboot.
1 Uninstall any software that is dependent on the old board. This would be things like onboard sound driver, onboard nic driver,... Read more

Hi
I have looked through solutions for this issue, but the suggestions don't seem to fix my issue...

I am running Windows 7 SP1 Pro 64-bit on a Dell Optiplex 760, and try to do a clean install of Windows 10, using the ISO file which I downloaded from Microsoft & burnt on to a DVD, and instructions from the tutorial on here, which are very good. I downloaded the correct 64-bit version.

I boot from the DVD, enter my region (UK), and choose custom install, and then my hard drive does not show up on the list of where you would like to install. I have all my USB's unplugged (except keyboard/mouse).

I tried deleting my partions using MiniTool Partition Wizard (bootable DVD), so that the entire disk is unallocated. That didn't fix it. I also tried creating a new partition (NTFS) of the entire drive (to get one Primary NTFS partition). That didn't work. I also tried setting that partition as 'active'. The same.

Before formatting etc, I tried a boot from the Windows 7 install DVD, and the hard drive does show up, unlike the Windows 10 DVD.

Do you think it's an issue with the Windows 10 installer?

I downloaded another version of Win10 from the MS Tech Bench page, but same issue.

After formatting etc, during the Windows 10 boot, I tried another suggestion to open up Command Prompt (Shift + F10), and ran 'diskpart' - and no drives are found. I checked the Bios, and it was there.

So presumably that is the issue. If i ran 'diskpart' with my prior Windows 7 install, diskpart sh... Read more

A:Windows 10 clean install - hard drive doesn't show up before install

Welcome toTenforums, Simon.

I am a little concerned that the Windows 10 setup program on DVD does not have drivers to properly see and interrogate the system on your PC so that the hard drive is visible. It's the second similar case on this forum that I've seen recently. You also seem to be trying to clean install on an empty PC - is this correct, because if you do so It will not activate.

After much to-ing and fro-ing, it was finally possible to *copy the Sources folder from the setup ISO file onto a partition on the hard drive, and run the setup from there, where it wasn't possible to boot from the DVD, even though it worked elsewhere.

If you still have Windows 7 installed (and you should do for Windows 10 activation purposes - if just to obtain a genuine ticket for digital entitlement), and you have the ISO download available, the solution is fairly simple. If you haven't you will need the Windows 7 key to activate the install.

You seem pretty PC savvy so, I'd ask you to follow the bolded instructions from the * in the 5th para above.

So, I tried with Windows 7 32 bit and I am getting this error. I have deleted all partitions, but now, I do not have that option when I choose Custom-advanced. There is no Delete option.

A few times I got the error at 5% other times at over 60%. What can I do to get this to install? It is a legit DVD of windows. Why would it have allowed 8.1 to successfully install now it is doing this? What files are missing? I have tried both deleting the partitions and not deleting. Same result.

A:Clean install error Windows cannot install required files.

Install the correct version of windows that`s on the COA, either buy a new installer from Newegg or call Dell for Recovery CD`s.

The dvd you are trying to use is corrupted and no good.

My spouses pc all of a sudden wouldn't boot, not into safe mode or anything (vista), and so we were going to upgrade anyways to windows 7, so i bought the upgrade windows 7 and attempted to do a clean install and reformatted the c: drive which has 250gb, and each time i start the install it bogs down and gets stuck on the install files and cycles over and over and never goes anywhere. I also performed a start up repair and it cycles over and over for hours on end, please help!

I purchased a Toshiba Satellite C50 loaded with windows 8 but want to revert to windows 7.

I have downloaded the necessary drivers and have mounted the .exe files onto a USB pen for installation.

Before I proceed to wipe windows 8 I'd like to know - if I install 7, will my trackpad stop functioning?

If so, how do I install the relevant drivers from the USB pen?

Thanks, John

A:Clean install of windows 7 - how to install drivers from USB memory stick?

99.9% sure that W7 will identify the trackpad and install it. You just run the exe's using file explorer or Start >Run then browse. You may decide to leave the laptop as the W7 install left it but you should check Device Manager to ensure there are no unrecognised devices

Read more

I've been extremely frustrated with both the screen flickering and crashing during sleep issues.  I figured before I buy a laptop from another company that I would at least try a reformat. I was expecting devices to not be fully installed after the reformat but Device Manager does not show any issues.  PC is also running fine besides the fact that the trackpad doesn't right click properly and the resolution is off which probably can be addressed by installing the proper drivers.  What else should I install, though?

A:Yoga 2 Pro - fresh install of Windows 10 - what should we install from Lenovo's download page?

Download/install Lenovo System Interface Foundation for Windows 10 (32-bit, 64-bit)...IdeaPad.... That should install, among other things, Lenovo Vantage (ex-Companion.) Use its System Update function to find drivers/updates, download and install them on your system. You don't have to install everything but if you have "screen flickering and crashing during sleep issues" then I'd make sure to at least get the latest chipset, display, video, power management, etc. drivers.

P.S. If you suspect that particular driver(s) may be causing issues, then install them one at a time to identify which one(s) are bad.

I have the Windows 7 key for the netbook but I was not given an install disc when I bought it from the store.
I believe it originally had Windows 7 Premium home edition on it and I updated it to Windows 7 SP1 Premium Home Edition.

I am having many issues with the OS and wish to either do a repair or a clean install. I'd rather do a repair so as not to have to reinstall everything, but if a clean install is recommended I can do that instead.

How do I go about it, without an installation disc?

A:How do I repair or do a clean install with no Windows 7 install disc?

Hello and welcome Alicia now hopefully you have all your data backed up because what I am going to suggest will wipe it and reset the machine to as it came out of the factory because it will have a special recovery partition for just tis sort of situation..

See this https://lionpress.wordpress.com/2008...tory-settings/

The alternative is to get an ISO for the version you have from somewhere and use the orih=gianl code to activate it.

Another thing you can do is read through this as it will describe how you can use any Windows DVD - a friends or family members one just read it thoroughly if that is what you want to do but make sure you read the bit about the ei.cfg removal tool Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

I'm looking to buy a new laptop, seen a few models I like and they all come with windows 7 pre-installed. Problem is they all also come with a dozen or so pre-installed pieces of freeware/shareware/trial software that I have no use for and don't want and I would like to do a clean install of windows 7 when I buy to get rid of all these. How should I go about doing this?

I'll ask the vendors if they could provide me with some sort of recovery CD that will install the operating system and none of the junk but they might say no (I've done a bit of googling and have read they make money off including all these programmes). If they don't give me anything then could I get by with just purchasing an upgrade DVD even though I obviously won't be upgrading anything, just trying to go from bloated windows 7 to non-bloated version.

Thanks for help.

A:Clean install to replace existing windows 7 install

Hello Third Man, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You can just uninstall the bloatware software that comes with the computer in "Programs and Features" in the Control Panel just like in Vista below. Otherwise you would have to purchase a separate retail copy of Windows 7 to do a clean install with, then install all of your drivers.

I upgraded my Yoga 2 pro to windows 10 and the Lenovo Transitions utility stopped working.  Basically, tent stand or tablet mode reveal no automatic switch.  So I had windows run it in compatibility mode for windows 8.1 and it worked for a little while.  Now it no longer works and I have tried having it ran in compatibility mode again to no avail.  Even the screen lock button does nothing.  Ive tried updating the program, however when I click "check for updates" it gives an error saying no internet connection available (i do have a connection).  Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated!

I had the very same problem with my Lenovo Flex 2-14 after I had upgraded my laptop to Windows 10.I finally solved the problem. Here is how I dealt with the problem.Step-1: Uninstall Lenovo Transition and reboot the computer.Step-2: Install Lenovo Transition 2.1 (http://support.lenovo.com/tr/tr/downloads/ds101908)Step-3: Open Device Management under Control Panel and update the driver for Intel HD Graphics.Step-4: Make sure Ctrl+Alt+Down Arrow turns the screen 180 degrees. (Ctrl+Alt+Up Up Arrow brings the screen to its normal position)Step-5: Now check if the screen is OK when the laptop is in the tent mode.

I have had a stable installation of Windows 8.1 Pro for several years now. I have a folder with about 3000 images that are shuffled through using the default Windows 8.1 Personalize options, desktop background slideshow. No third party software is used for this.

I have a dual monitor setup. Extended displays.

The problem I am suddenly having is that when a wallpaper fade-transitions from the current image to the next, once the fade animation has completed, a small area/portion of the previous image will flicker onto the screen for a split second, usually near the bottom. It does not happen every time (1 out of 10 or more), and I can not cause it to happen on purpose, even though it will happen when transitioning automatically, or through the right click, Next Desktop Background option.

There have been some changes to my system, but they did not cause any immediate issues.

I am running XP Pro 32 bit on a two drive system and want to install Windows 7 Pro on the second. I have partitioned both drives to use partitions for logical drive storage. I do not need to see either operating system partitions from the other. What is the best way to install Windows 7 without potential problems and with anticipation of eventual complete transition Windows7?

A:Dual Boot as transition to Windows 7 Pro 64

Hello ghm46, welcome to Seven Forums!

First of all, Windows will only boot independently from "Primary" partitions, it will not boot from a "Logical" partition.

If you want to use the BIOS boot menu to boot both OSs/HDDs independently of each other, only leave the HDD that you want to install Windows 7 to connected at the motherboard; disconnect the other, install Windows 7 and then connect the other HDD back up.

hello, i just got a new computer. the thing is for some reason when ever i minimize or maximize, or close, or open a window it opens from like top to bottom. im not sure how to explain it but it makes the webpages slower. when i open a web page it will say done while the window is still like "scroll opening" i guess would be the best way to describe it. it just opens from the top then kind of unscrolls till it gets to the bottom. it is VERY annoying and ive tried changing visual effects and everything in the virtual memory menu and nothing works. i have a PCI nividia geforce fx 5200 (dunno if that helps) but please help me fix it. oh and i have 512mb ram and no other processes running in the back round (like 97% FREE) so i know its not lagging, im just hoping its some stupid setting thats checked some where i cant find.

I just got a new laptop, a Lenovo X230, for which I paid extra to have the OS on it as Windows 8 Pro.

So--now I have it, and Win 8 Pro 64 is installed and activated on it. I am a legal owner of Win 8 Pro.

However, I would like to do a clean install of Win 8 on the computer, to have it free of bloatware, etc. (In fact, I would like to set up a multi-boot with Win 7, and perhaps even triple boot with Xp as well. (I have installation media and my product keys for XP and 7 though, so those are not really a problem.)

The computer came with no discs at all. There is a procedure to make recovery disks. I may do that, but I think those will be to restore the computer to how it came from the factory, and therefore not usable for a clean install.

I don't see my product key for Win 8 anywhere. Not on the computer, not on any kind of card that came with it, etc.

I looked at the tutorial here for clean install of Windows 8, but it requires an install disc and product key. I have neither, although I am a legal owner of Windows 8.

Is there a way I can create (from my installed Windows 8) a win 8 install disk, that can be used for a clean install? Or a link to download one? Is there a way I can get my product key?

Thank you in advance.

A:Clean Install of Windows 8 without install disc?

You shouldn't need to enter a product key with an oem machine.

The recovery partition and discs will likely reinstall with all the crapware.

Hard to tell without looking at it. Dell recovery program used to offer an option to reinstall without crapware. Perhaps your oem does also.

Many would like to do a clean install as you describe. Not so easy with win8 oem pre install .

So I was backing up my computer last night with SyncBackPro, and encountered a BSOD (kernel_stack_inpage_error). Restarted computer, got other BSODs. Now, I haven't formatted my computer in quite some time, but I have the vast majority of my files backed up. Next, this morning my computer would start up, but it had a different boot screen and no programs will run("gdiplus.dll was not found"). I think I should at least do a repair install of XP, but I only have a SP1 disk from Dell. I've read about slipstreaming, but I don't fully understand the idea. Ideas? The computer is old, but has been treated very well. What can I do to revive the computer?

I can't find my specific install problem on the forum, so here is the problem:

I have a 4 core 64 bit HP laptop (pavilion) with a Radeon graphics card and 16 gig of ram.

I installed W10 over W7 from the laptop microsoft link when the free offer was available. I have two downloaded disks (burned from iso files), one with threshold 2 the other without.

I have tried booting from both these disks without success, the laptop just boots into the problem W10.
In the bios boot from CD is enabled but this makes no difference?

I'm sure I am missing something (maybe the disks are not configured properly but how do I find out?)
Does anyone know how I can get a clean install to work please?

It looks like you have the right settings, so let's try this. Go to C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes folder and rename the slideshow.ini to slideshow.bak.ini and restart your computer and then go back in and set up the slideshow again and see if that helps.
