Hi all,

Having severe BSOD Bad_Pool_Caller issues lately (last 48 hours). I noticed this was an issue because around the same time, all video on my system (youtube, VLC player, etc.) will occasionally stutter/lag and show crazy artifacts. Soon after, things will slow down to a crawl and the system will randomly crash. It has started crashing even while not watching video, so this is a frustrating issue for me. Lately, I've noticed that the system will crash within fifteen minutes after waking up if the monitor has gone to sleep.

From what I've read, I understand that this could be RAM error or a driver issue, but I've run memtest on my ram and I don't think it's a hardware issue. I'm more than happy to swap out all my ram if necessary, but would prerfer to see if anyone can help me read some dump files.

I've used bluescreenview and it would appear that most of the crashes occur due to ntoskrnl.exe. I have no idea what this is and I have no idea what to do next. I've attached a few dump files from the last two days, system information (from Speccy), and an overview of bluescreenview in a dropbox folder and would greatly appreciate if someone on here can help me out.

Can someone please help me, I get a BSOD about once a day, sometimes every other day. System boots back up ok but would like to solve it. I have zipped and attached the dump files.I am new here but from reading other threads it looks like some very knowledgeable and helpful people on here.

Unfortunately the installation appears non-genuine.
The Key is that of a HP OEM computer - and the motherboard is a retail one by Asus.
There is no point analysing your crash logs as your BSOD issues may stem from a counterfeit install.



The best course of action will be to:Purchase a legitimate Windows 7 licence.
Format the HDD.
Reinstall Windows and activate.

Over the past couple weeks I've experienced multiple blue screens. Today has been the worst with three in a row. It seems to happen at random times, but within the first couple minutes of booting. I've experienced blue screens at the login screen, checking emails, and just sitting on the desktop. So far, it hasn't blue screened in safe mode.

I ran dm log collector in safe mode and I noticed it hasn't listed my graphics card. I believe it's an ATI Radeon, I'm not sure which model though. I'll attempt to run the dm log collector out of safe mode and upload that.

I've been having BSoD's for well over a year now, once or twice almost every day. I've tried multiple times to figure out whats wrong but... I dont have ANY dump files.

I've followed instructions on how to enable them but it still doesn't create a file. Im really hoping you all can help me out here.

The current settings are:
Page files on both hard drives enabled.
Set custom page size to 17000MB-20000MB
System managed size and no paging file boxes are unchecked
Write an event to system log box checked
Automatically restart unchecked
Debug information set to small memory dump/kernal. Both settings dont work
Overwrite existing file box is greyed out when debug is set to small memory. Checked when set to kernal
Small and kernal memory dump location set to C:\Windows\Minidump and C:\Windows\Memory.DMP I created these folders as they were not present

I got a SSD awhile back and use it for my windows. However i didnt reformat my other hard drive and windows is still installed on the old one however i boot from the SSD (maybe this is some how the problem)

Im using WhoCrashed from Resplendence Software - Advanced System Tools and Developer Components to force a BSoD when trying to creat a dump file.

There are NO files in either folder. Both on the SSD or old hard drive.

I've searched many forums now and found others with what seems to be the same problem but with no solutions. I would VERY much appreciate the help!

Hi,

I'm hoping somebody can help me. I have windows 7 ultimate x64 and for a couple of months now I have had constant problems.

Usually it starts with firefox crashing, and always ends up with BSOD. Sometimes I lose the internet and windows colour scheme changes to basic. Other times I will just boot into windows and it will blue screen.

I have done a clean install and still had the same problems. I also bought a new hard drive and did a clean install on that but it still happens, and I also decided to buy a new motherboard as I thought that may be the problem, but after installing that and doing another clean install I still get the same problems.

The dump files say that it is ntoskrnl.exe causing the problems, I have attached my full dump folder.

Can somebody please help me as I have run out of ideas as to what could be causing the problem, thanks.

I guess the issue is with Memory.

Run the Memory Diagnostic & HD Diagnostic

Also i would recommend to run System Integrity Checker

Start > Run > CMD > Right Click and Run as administrator > SFC/ SCANNOW

Also if your using any third party firewall then try to disable them or uninstall them.

I also ran a system file check.

Having BSOD issues. I thought initially it was scaned from hardware issue maybe loose connectors but my build is less than 30 days old and i've reseated all parts about 4 days ago. It didnt BSOD for 4 days but today it BSOD while browsing the internet, the next BSOD was when trying to hardware scan device manager so I know it must be caused from some files inside my OS and not hardware. It has happened in gaming before.

I've attached the dump file but theres a lot of dumps becuase of BSOD i've had so far caused by ntoskrnl.exe. I will be trying driver sweeper to remove graphic card drivers then reinstalling them maybe that will help. Looking forward to any expert help on this matter thank you.

We nave noticed that sometimes the absence of Service Pack 1 causes stop 0x124 BSODs (though it is basically a hardware related BSOD).

Install Service pack 1 and all other windows updates. Otherwise the system will remain vulnerable to threats.

Have you added any new hardware or ram as of late? Because some of what i have researched on this points to possible bad hardware and or faulty ram. I would run memtest86+ from the following link and let it do a thorough scan:

I've had this computer for almost two years, with only one other glaring issue that was related to a faulty HD.
However, over the past few days there have been several issues with the computer, the most serious of which were a series of BSOD's.
Two days ago, my computer would constantly disconnect from the internet for seconds at a time; causing Skype to reload, Chrome to hang, and Dota2/Steam to disconnect. This happened quite often; once every fifteen to thirty minutes. Several minutes past midnight, while listening to music, the first BSOD occurred.
The next night, while the computer was idling with the monitor off, it automatically restarted. Upon turning the monitor on, I caught the last few seconds of a BSOD. This very day I've suffered two BSOD's, both of which happened while listening to music, which would stutter and repeat before the computer died. Interestingly enough, the last half second of the song continued to repeat all through the BSOD, before the computer restarted.
Each BSOD has happened closer and closer together. The initial two were around 24 hours apart, each happening several minutes after midnight. The two today happened at noon, and 3pm.

I've downloaded BlueScreenView, even though I've heard it's not the best software to use, I'm a novice at troubleshooting. Each dump I scanned mentioned "ntoskrnl.exe" as having an issue. I don't know what to make of this, and I don't have a backup computer to work with.

Here is what I have. Lenova A63 Desktop with Windows 7 Pro 32bit, about 1 yr old. AMD Athlon II X2 processor, original OEM OS with no re-installs. Bluescreen comes up and goes away all by itself and then OS restarts. I know i don't have an antivirus installed as I just removed AVG today as I thought it was creating a seperate problem unrelated. Planning to re-install asap.

First off, I would just install microsoft security essentials to replace the loss of AVG, it's not the greatest thing but it is stable in win 7.

edit: it seems the acronis disk filter driver is interfering with activity. I'm still running debug on the two most recent dump files though.

Recently purchased the following laptop:

Acer Aspire 5542-5462

AMD Turion II M500 2.2ghz
4GB DDR2
500GB SATA
Windows7 Home Premium

Pulled it out of the box Friday, plugged in the power cord and started it up. Went through initial setup in ~30min. Loaded Win7 for first time and began setting things up. All of a sudden I get BSOD. I didn't notice what the first one was for but every time I restarted it'd run for a few minutes then BSOD, usually for a different reason every time. Called Acer tech and they had me do a full system restore from boot.......long story short it didn't help at all. I've since borrowed a know clean Win7 disc from a friend and completely reinstalled on fresh partition. It ran great for the first hour or so but reverted back to BSOD's every 5 min. BSOD seems to happen while doing some kind of activity like web browsing or file browsing. Hasn't happened with computer just sitting idle.

Approximate BSOD titles:

15% of time: irq not less or equal
25% of time: win32k.sys
60% of time: memory_management, or fltmgr.exe, others unnamed, or I didn't catch in time.

I attached a .zip of the memory dumps so far.

I appreciate any help on this. Hate to have to revert to Win7 32bit and only use 3gb of ram.

I have been getting random BSOD particularly when playing videos. I have tried updating videocard drivers but this has not solved the problem.

I have windows 7 x86 (32bit) Full retail, (upgraded from windows xp) installed a few months ago.The system is 4 years old.

First please update your System Specs.

HOW TO FILL OUT YOUR SYSTEM SPECS

In the line at the top of “www.SevenForums.com” you will see UserCP.
That is an abbreviation for User Control Panel.
Click on UserCP.
In the left-hand column, under Your Profile you will see Edit System Spec.
Click on Edit System Spec
You can copy and paste from the output of Speccy, http://www.piriform/com/speccy to fill out much of the info. Be sure to use the Other Info section of your System Specs for such info as your optical drive, your wireless adapter, your speakers, etc.


Your NVidia NForce Network Controller is old. Please update.

Memory corruption was also reported. After completing the steps above,

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

These were caused by your network driver. The intel wifi driver needs to be re-installed with a fresh copy. Go to the mfr and download and install it.

I've done the usual .. updated drivers (Driverscanner) ran malwarebytes, chk disk, spybot, defragged, checked registry (RegCure) etc but it crashed probably twice a day.

I only have Windows 7 in my pc and without problems but since a few days ago, sometimes appears a BSOD that says:

Many have simply reinstalled Vista when seeing the "Physical memory dump failed with status 0XC0000010" error repeatedly without any memory dumps being seen. Your next step would be looking in the event viewer logs which can sometimes point to a company name.

For the "Stop: 0X0000007A" error the MS information on that goes back as far as Windows 2000.

"This issue can occur if you have the UlraDMA66/ATA66 (80 wire/40 pin) IDE cable attached to the drive that you are trying to install Windows 2000 on. Windows 2000 does not fully support the UltraDMA66 controller."

An updated version of the same problem seen with Windows Server 2008 and Vista is found at Stop error message when you put a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 into hibernation: "STOP 0x000000A0," "STOP 0x0000007a," or "STOP 0x00000077"

You'll find a link for a hotfix at the top of the page there that might help with 7. But still look the event viewer logs over to see what other information is shown there.

ARGH!! Win7 sometimes makes me feel like such a NOOB! I've read and re-read every post in the How to. Unfortunately many of the writers are not referencing Win7. Links go to XP references. File locations sound more like XP than even Vista and certainly not Win7. Control panel references for enabling dumps do not correlate to any Win7 views.

I've run SF Diagnostic Tool v2.02 and it finds 0 files.

I have been having a number of hangs and BSOD's and need to go beyond the event logs to figure out the cause.

Uninstall Norton and all Symentec products using Norton Removal tool. At least as a test. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Hi rerun1 and welcome to TSF

I think I remember an issue dealing with file extension that prevents a file from being attached to a post. Try ziping the dump files and see if a .zip extension will attach.
If that works, I'll make it a mission of mine to be more profound next time I tell someone
I'm not good at decyphering dump files, but others on this forum are. I usually look at errors in the events viewer to determine course of action. A double click on an error there will give more details about the error.

As I already mentioned in the title i had a BSOD. It was the first time after I formatted my Win 7 professional x64 about a month ago so maybe somekind of driver issues but i wouldn?t know.

Dump file points to netw5v64.sys as the possible problem. Try updating the drivers for your network card.

If the problem still persists, check your ram using memtest. My pc crashed when I was using VLC once and it was because my ram was faulty.

I have a problem with my computer. I have it just for like a month or so and I already had several BSODs (actually 8 of them). They all happened in 2 situations. First during rendering in 3D Studio Max and second during playing Starcraft 2. Rendering might be even problem of 3Dstudio so I'm going to pay attention to those happened while playing.
Problem is that first two happened longer time ago and I didn't payed to much attention to them, because I thought they were random crashes. But today they started to happen after around one hour of playing. I had three of them today in during few hours.
The thing is that everytime it's different kind of BSOD and different driver causing it. I tried to look into the .dmp files and I was able to get the drivers from them.
First was:

Only ran the 9 memory dumps from July - the one's from May (a total of 21) suggest the same thing.
The 9 from July are STOP 0x1 errors - Although I did see one STOP 0x119 (video driver) error in the May dumps along with several other errors blaming your ATI video drivers.

If you haven't done anything to fix the May errors (there were no errors in June), then please do the following:
- download the Display Driver only (NOT the entire Catalyst Control Center) from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD
- uninstall the current ATI stuff from your system
- install the Display Driver and monitor for further BSOD's.

Then, if the errors are still occurring, try running Driver Verifier according to these directions:

Hello everyone. I have a Dell laptop almost for 4 years and I am facing BSOD 's. They happened during a month and then everything went back to normal. But I have some very large dump files left which even using WhoCrashed or BlueScreenView didn't help me. I use computers for many years and I am an experienced user, but the error codes are out of my league.

I'd suggest also checking over in the General Security forums for your status with the Spectre/Meltdown updates.
They can cause problems with booting and/or BSOD's - but I'm not familiar with the details on them.

Your logs show a problem with DeepFrz.sys. It is a driver for Deep Freeze software. You could re-install, un-install, or upgrade it; or check with the manufacturer (Faronics) to see if the have a solution.

I ordered my computer from Puget Systems some time ago and recently sent it in for repair because of a faulty motherboard. They replaced the motherboard, ram module and installed an 8800 GTX video card. Ever since i got it back I have been getting the DRIVER IRQL Not less then equal BSOD. When I reboot it does the same bsod upon loading my desktop. The only thing I have found to fix the problem is to boot into safemode and reinstall my video drivers. I installed different drivers and the problem seemed to vanish for a few weeks until today. I was loading into a HL2 server and it never loaded and I couldn't ctrl-alt-del so I did a hard shutdown and rebooted to receive the same error. After some research I came to discover the minidump files and this forum.

also uploaded on my webspace is all my dumps since i got the computer.. 06-xx-07 is the month I got my computer back from repair..anything before then probably isn't relevant.

This denotes a general Windows instability. I would start by testing or swapping this new RAM module... It may be defective

When starting up windows 7 and getting to the part to enter my password to login I receive the BSOD. I restarted my computer in Safe Mode then restarted and it worked fine.

This is a brand new computer, bought from cyberpowerpc I have been using it for about 3 days.

Maybe a year or a year and a half ago, my computer would randomly crash and restart on me with no real correlation to any program. It only happened every other month or every two months, so I figured it was just a weird fluke. Perhaps the computer wanted to take a nap? (A couple of the crashes happened over night) Anyway, I didn't really think anything of it because it was stable most of the time.

Now, things are quite different. Sometimes it crashes multiple times in one day, but still always at random times. Once when I started burning a DVD, once when I closed a video game, just whenever it felt like it. When it started getting annoying, I decided to finally take action. I figured out how to stop it from immediately restarting so I could have a chance to read the BSOD, and I found the culprit. IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

A few google searches led me to believe that this is caused by a faulty driver or faulty memory. I didn't really know how to test the drivers, so I updated them the best I could, then focused on testing the memory. I've had problems with it before, like not able to run at it's listed timings without errors, so I dialed them back. I ran trusty MemTest 86+ for the night only to find no errors in the morning. Stumped, I decided to punt the problem off for another day. Of course, the crashes kept happening, and for the longest while, it was the same not less or equal error.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :
Double click to open it.
Click this button only:

If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
And test you HDD using HGST WinDFT. Let us know the result.

Now let us know if the BSODs are continuing or not. If it continues, take a camera snap of the BSOD screen and upload it here.

Recently I have had a few crashes on my windows 8.1 laptop.
I have tried to attach the 3 most recent zipped dump files, but they're 100mb and too big to attach, so have uploaded the most recent one to here and the previous crash to here

Hoping someone is able to see why it keeps crashing. Recently a friend of mine updated the bios, ran cc cleaner on it, did all the windows updates and optimized it, which I hoped would cure this issue, but it's still happening.

The laptop runs fine in safe mode without any freezing or crashing.
I have run memtest for a while, and no errors come up.
I tried running hard drive test, but since my laptop needs to load special drivers from a floppy disk, I couldn't run a complete drive test.

Here is the BSOD error message:

0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x80610305, 0xA5FBD9DC, 0x.....)
I can't read the rest because the computer auto-restarts too quickly.

1. This very often is a RAM problem. If you have more than one stick of RAM (256MB or more) swap them over or take one out and try again with only stick #1. If it does not help or makes things worse swap the sticks and try again with only stick #2. This will identify if you have a bad stick.

2. It could also be a driver issue.The fact that the machine is OK in Safe Mode points to this .
Turn off automatic rebooting (you can do this in Safe Mode)
Right-click My Computer / Properties / Advanced / Startup and Recovery/Settings.
Under System Failure, uncheck the Automatically restart check box
Apply/OK

Reboot into normal mode
You will then get a BSOD with error message which will help identify the problem. You will now be able to read all the STOP message. Look if there is a driver mentioned "*****.sys" and post back

I've got absolutely no clue what is going on with my computer. I've gotten these 2 kinds of blue screens. Sometimes it will even restart without me seeing a BSoD.

(I only JUST uninstalled AVG because I had read it can cause problems with what I'm having.. obviously didn't fix it.)

I can't even get into the forums long enough to get the information written down before it crashes so I got pictures of the Bluescreenviewer information using my phone.

I only know of one thing that could possibly cause this and that is I used to have 4 GB of ram and one of the cards doesn't work and crashes my computer, so I took it out. This was a long time ago and I fixed it. But only recently these problems have started, and I haven't downloaded anything besides an update to my anti-virus which I uninstalled and the drivers for my network card.

Any tips?
UPDATE: I ran a memory test overnight and it ran 12 times. No errors whatsoever.

I started noticing that my newly built computer suddenly restarts without warning and offers no BSOD. I built it about 3 weeks ago, and originally it did not have this problem. I Googled a solution for no BSOD, and they suggested to do this:

(I tried to download WinDdg, but the installer from Microsoft kept failing out on my good computer).

I was going to run the dm log collector as it says in the BSOD rules on posting, but I'd rather not take a chance with my newly built computer. I can do that, but I want to minimze the risk (I really can't afford a new build). Attached are the dump files in .zip format.

A:Immediate restart w/ dump files but no BSOD

I had to use my computer last night, no problems for awhile. I start playing some n64 games on it for a few hours hours, seems good, then it randomly restarts again with no blue screen. The checkbox to "automatically restart after errors" was unchecked as I did that earlier, so I'm surprised why there wasn't a blue screen. I have another dump file from it as well.

Can anyone read these dump files for me please??

This problem occurred about two weeks ago. Computer randomly BSODs about 10 times a day and stays on 0%. Minidump Files are not being created, even after adding the minidump file to the %SystemRoot%. I have it set up the same way that was instructed on this website (Through Startup and Recovery), the only difference that I had was that the Automatic Restart was not checked(it is now but I haven't BSOD since then). I also used the registry file available through this website but haven't BSOD since then either.
