Email in folders has a .emt format

Q: Email in folders has a .emt format

Yesterday all my folders except inbox were empty. I found them in the Windows Live Mail folder on hard drive and I copied those files back to my e-mail program. but they are in .eml format and the computer can not open them, but it will open them in the hard drive folder. How do I get them to open when I check my email. Hope you can understand this as it is hard to describe.. Thanks

Preferred Solution: Email in folders has a .emt format

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Good morning -- just installed Outlook 365. I was able to sync all my emails (including folders I've created with all emails stored), calendar and contacts. My issue is with my iPhone 6 email app. I'm seeing my calendar and contacts as well as all my emails -- inbox, sent, junk...but none of the other folders. The folders don't appear in settings, mail, contacts, calendars...under fetch new data either. Any thoughts? Thank you!

I can't add our shared org email using the normal outlook setup. I tried POP/IMAP, it worked but the emails and subfolders are incomplete. And the shared org email is associated with my personal org email, whenever I tried to remove the associated folders,
it say's "This group of folders is associated with an email account. To remove the account, click the File Tab, and on the Info tab, click Account Settings. Select the e-mail account and than click Remove."
Then I tried a lot of times to remove my email and back again, it is still there. I also removed the additional mailboxes in the screenshot below.

Please help. Thanks.

Hi.

Is there a way to change the format for all folders in Outlook 2003 at once, rather than going into each folder and doing it manually?

For example, I like to have my font at 9, rather than 8 and remove the size column (along with some other changes). I have only been able to do it by going into each folder. Just wondering if I am missing an option.

Also, is there a way to view one folder w/the reading pane below the message, and another folder with it to the right? It seems it changes all folders when I change the option.

Thank you!

Hello there.
I hope someone can help me - that would be fantastic.
Last night, I formatted my PC.
I have two hard drives: one 60gb, one 200gb. The 200gb is divided into two partitions : "Store" (G (50gb) and "WDC" (F (140gb) (I know that doesn't equal 200gb - but you know the whole thing about there's always "less space" when it's in a computer or something...).

Anyway, all my important files on C: were moved to the 140gb partition (F before the format. I had a bunch of files in a folder called BACKUP and then files just in F:. I also had a few files on the G: partition.

After I formatted my computer and turned it on, I went to F: and G: to check the files, as I always do after a format (I have formatted this way multiple times before). In the G: partition, all the files were there, and I opened the video files I had and I eventually got them working (After downloading all the codecs again).

HOWEVER, when I checked F:, it was very bizarre to find OLD files on the drive were missing. DV Captures from my video camera were ALL gone. The folder was there but there was nothing inside the folder. Everything else WAS there at this stage, so although that was annoying, I didn't care too much.

So I carried on installing things - I installed my sound card, DivX, video card - things like that. Just drivers etc. Because I was installing drivers, my computer needed to be restarted. When I restarted my computer (the first time it had... Read more

Hello, I am new to this site and looking for help/advice please.

I have a "Targa" laptop (4-5 years old - very basic!). Apart from now being painfully slow, it still works OK - I only ever use it for basic internet surfing, iTunes and photo storage. I need to save/transfer all my photos (just under 7GB) and iTunes (just over 7GB). Purchased a brand new Toshiba 64GB USB memory stick last week and have tried to copy my pictures/music over but am having some problems!

Firstly, I copied and pasted from My Pictures/My Music to the (F: ) USB. It took hours (literally) but when I tried to view the pictures, (on the same laptop, via the USB), to check they had transferred, most of the folders were empty. I then tried “show hidden folders” (this is about the extent of my PC knowledge!) and some of my iTunes folders were there (containing my music files), but some folders were empty. A picture folder that I had also previously copied from another laptop (new-ish Acer) as well as some other iTunes folders, were now showing as a “not recognised” icon.

I then tried “Send to” instead of copy and paste. I done this folder by folder (instead of the whole of My Pictures) and it seemed to be working fine (taking a few minutes for each folder). But, before removing the USB (I always use the “Safely Remove Hardware&#8221, I checked again and the folders that previously looked as if they had copied across, wer... Read more

Hello,

I have recently been having some trouble with the formatting of an email I received. My dad received an email that he forwarded to me. The original email contained lots of pictures and text. However when I received the email it had been converted into html text code or I think thats what it is called. When I looked on his sent mail it had also been sent in the same format. He has deleted the original email and I was wondering if there was a way that I could change it back to the original format.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

A:Email format

This depends on a few things:

What email client is being used?
How was the email created?
Does either party have a firewall or antivirus program that filters out certain types of content?
Did the receiving party download any attachments/enable content to be displayed within the email? Many email clients will by default block images, links, etc., until the user selects the option to enable them for security reasons.

Welcome to our group John.

As far as I know when you're using a web based e-mail program such as yahoo, Gmail, hotmail etc. The tab key is programmed as a shortcut key to the send button.

While using a IMAP or pop 3 e-mail program on your computer, the tab key will work as you want it to.

So, you just have to hit the SPACEBAR a few times like you've been doing.

Hi There,

I'm trying to send out an email from Outlook which has some basic coloured arial font in it, and a few different font sizes. I tested the email in email accounts such as yahoo, hotmail, webmail and eircom.net

The email is opening up differently in each of the email accounts and code such as <o/p> is displaying at the end of every line in the eircom.net email account. There are big spaces between the lines when the email is opened in hotmail.

I also tried sending some pictures but they open up at the bottom of some email accounts or they appear as white boxes with red X's in other accounts.

Does anyone know how I can ensure that the email I send out remains the same irregardless of the email account that it is opened with?

Thanks a lot, I'm cracking up!!

So I decided to send my self a copy by typing in my address thinking that I can forward it from my normal email program with all my contacts that I have in groups there. It seems like it gets lost as I never see it come in to my in box. It has to be somewhere but where and how do I get MS word to use win live. Or do I have to import all my address book to that program. I have tried to cut and paste but the doc format gets screwed up. I can of course scan it and send from there but that is a pain I don't need.

Hello--a quick question--
I used GIMP to resize, etc., a photo and then sent the photo attached to an email with Yahoo. Since the file format is not jpg, but the one GIMP does (something like xsp?) will my recipient be able to open it if he doesn't have GIMP?
Thanks!

A:Email photo in GIMP's format

GIMP's native format is XCF. It preserves all the capabilities that GIMP provides, instead of loosing something that almost every other format does (some more than others).

So, the answer is no. If you send an XCF, the other party will also need GIMP to open.

Just save your GIMP image into something a bit more common (GIF, JPG, BMP, TIF, etc.) that they can use. Sure, you may loose something in the translation, but if they need all the capability of the XCF format, they can run GIMP themselves.

To back up your profile, simply shut down Thunderbird and then copy the profile folder to a backup location (such as an external disk or drive).

Moving a profile
Occasionally, you might want to move a profile or tell Thunderbird to use a profile stored in another location.
Shut down Thunderbird.
Move the profile folder to the desired location. For example, on Windows XP, move the profile from C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default to D:\Stuff\MyMailProfile. (If you are reverting to a backed up profile, this step isn't necessary. Just note the current location of the profile you want to restore.)
Open up the profiles.ini file in a text editor. The file is located in the application data folder for Thunderbird:
On Windows 7/Vista/XP/2000, the path is %AppData%\Thunderbird\
On Windows 95/98/Me, the path is usually C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Thunderbird\
On Linux, the path is ~/.thunderbird/
On Mac OS X, the path is ~/Library/Thunderbird/
In the profiles.ini file, locate the entry for the profile you've just moved. Change the Path= line to the new location.
If you switch from a relative path to a non-relative path, the direction of the slashes may need to change. For example, in Windows, non-relative paths use backslashes, whereas relative ones use forward slashes. Change IsRelative=1 to IsRelative=0.

I am soooo hoping there is still hope! i got a message last night when closing my email asking if i wanted to compact my messages (1st time i ever got that message( and bcs i have alot of emails i clicked yes - so i lost all my folders and contents. in a search on the internet i found a thread from this site about such problems and how to restore the messages but i messed it up.
i did a search for dbx files and found them, i also looked in my recycled bin and found them there ( i can't remember if their were .bak or .dbx files though) but i thought if followed the instructions by copying them to a seperate folder i created on my desktop - then this is where it gets messy - i somehow right clicked on 1 of the files and i think when i clicked open, it asked me with what program and once i searched the different programs available there seemed to be no way back to undo this - until then i think it said this file opens with an "unknown program" - so i had to pick one and when i did it changed the look of all my files in the folder and the option to "restore" is no longer there.
Is there any hope???

Also I have been on chat with BT and they have escalated a call to the Yahoo team

meantime anyone have any ideas ?
Thanks

A:BT Email (Yahoo) has OIB Folders

Its a new feature on BT mail and applies to BT email not just yahoo BT
and can be unsubscribed using
Details are here We've upgraded your BT Yahoo Mail | Help | BT.com Help

Its a new feature for filtering emails into groups, to save you having a lot of clutter and having to delete a lot of Spam/Advertising emails from your inbox

These smart views are supposed to help you manage your inbox , so you may possibly want to keep them set-up

That's the BT promo I was given over !!!

I was given via "chat" the following instructions from BT

to unsubscribe from the smart view " Other inbox " system

Go to this link OtherInbox, the App Store for Email
Log in there using your particular email address.
you will find a Disconnect button on the right side of your email address.
Press the button and that's all you are disconnected from OIB (you have to delete the OIB folders from your mail manually)

I notice in the Outlook Reviews that it does not allow email folders, as did Outlook Express.
This would mean that all emails are grouped under one folder  YIKES !
Can this possibly be true?

As you read this you will begin to get a feel as to how PC illiterate I am...
I have Windows ME?Outlook Express. I had emails I wanted to keep so I made some folders to put them in. Some of the folders showed up beneath teh "Deleted items" folder. They were indented....I never thought anything about that. Several times I emptied my deleted items folder and the other folders were fine then today I emptied the deleted items folder and it wiped out all the other folders. GGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, whinnnnnnnnnnnneeeeee...Is there ANY way to get my other folders back??????

A:HELP>>>I've lost my email folders

i dont think so...
Are you using IMAP servers? if yes, try accessing your webmail, lucky if folders and messages are still present...
oh well, if you confirm the deletion of the folders... i dont think there's a way to restore them.
Condolence
hope someone knows something to restore them...

A few sessions of trying to learn to use email clients forced changes to how some files were arranged in folders and in which folders were in the email account tested.  The two email clients I have tried up to now are Opera Mail (portable form) and Windows Mail.  The one that seemed to have disturbed the folders and email messages was Windows Mail.  Can anyone tell me how to make sure that this does not happen when setting up an email client for a new account?

A:one or more email addresses are not in a valid format outlook 2010

You have not supplied a lot of information. Are you trying to change the email address of one of your contacts, or are you trying to change one of your email accounts.

Have a look at this MS website & there is a solution to try.
