Lenovo IdeaPad 520 (or similar) touchpad quality concerns

Q: Lenovo IdeaPad 520 (or similar) touchpad quality concerns

Hello. I?ve recently bought Lenovo Ideapad 520, with which I am very satisfied, it has a nice built quality and it works very well, but I have some concern regarding its touchpad. If I compare it with the touchpad on my old Asus laptop, Lenovo touchpad is step-down, when it comes to quality and overall feeling whilst using it. When I press down on the touchpad to click, there is a slight gap, about a millimeter, before it activates a click, this gap is noticeable when I am taping or scrolling on touchpad because it produces a sound, some kind of rumble, which is really noticeable in quiet environments, like the library, and it has become a little annoying, if I'm honest. It seems like touchpad is not fixed to the housing and is a little loose, also I have a feeling that clicking is not uniform on the whole surface. Now my question is, is this normal and expected behavior of Lenovo touchpads, or did I get a faulty/bad quality touchpad? I tried contacting local Lenovo service and they cannot verify if there is something wrong with my unit, unless I send it to them, which I currently cannot do, so any help here would be greatly appreciated. I?ve found this video from someone having a similar issue, but on a Dell laptop:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkNaAY9YJBc Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi there! I have a Lenovo Ideapad 710S that has really bad sound quality all of a sudden. When plugging in headphones the sound works great, but unplugging them makes the speakers on the laptop sound tinny and very low. It kind of feels like when you walk past people with earplugs that has full volume on. That "distant" sound. Almost as if my own headphones is still plugged in and lays beside my laptop or something.I've tried searching for a solution to this issue, without any luck at all. Can someone tell me what or how the problem may be solved? Maybe the speakers is bad and needs to be replaced, or can it be software issues?

I bought this laptop about 6 months ago because of its specifications, good price and I because Lenovo is a trusted brand. Now I have a serious problem with the battery. It only runs 4 or 5 minutes without AC power and then the battery is completely empty. I bought this notebook in New York (B&H Photo Store), but I'm from Brazil, and here we don't have this battery to buy and replace. I don't use a lot the notebook, maybe 1 time per week. I have another notebook from DELL, and it is 4 years old, I use it every day to work, and I can use it without AC power about 2 hours (original battery, never replaced before). I hope Lenovo can help me.Thanks. Leandro.

The touchpad is super senstive to any light touch. If I'm scrolling down with two fingers it responds to asingle touch while scrolling down. for example, if I'm browsing youtube and I scrolled down the touchpad opens any video when scrolling down.I've searched for that and they told me that it can be solved by setting pulm tracking to the least value. but it seems that I cannot modify palm tracking. also I went through the registery and set pulm tracking to zero but still the same problem. it is super senstive to any touch. this is really annoying me while browsing youtube or any site or even playing games.  you can see the screenshots I've attached.  if anyone can help me, I'd be so thankfull.

Hi, the configuration utility for the Sentelic touchpad built in the Lenovo IdeaPad 100 refuses to start. The OS is 64-bit Windows 7 (Bulgarian). The utility does not start at all - no error messages, no nothing, thus preventing any configuration like scrolling with the edge of the touchpad and multiple gestures. The driver is the only one available through the Lenovo support site. Any ideas?

Hello there, I've bought this laptop ( Lenovo IdeaPad 300 ) about 2 or 3 months ago and I've had the same issue all the time. First, I met the PalmTracking [Elan] Issue which is configuring PalmTracking through Elan or Windows doesn't work until I have found a fix which is to uninstall the Elan Driver untill they update it but it lead to another issue which is it gets automatically reinstalled after a restart, so I need a fix that won't need me to do it repetitvely. And then my trackpad suddenly just started moving so fast and randomly clicked about 50 or 100 Clicks per second ( not the real, approx with my vision ) everytime I just touch the TouchPad. I don't know what caused this issue. Note: I bought a mouse so I can use the laptop in a better way and in playing games, but I still use the trackpad. Thanks for your time.

Hello Lenovo Community!  I'm a proud owner of a Lenovo IdeaPad 700-15ISK. I like this laptop alot, even though I only got it a week ago. There is a problem, however. My touchpad is "jumping" at specific time intervals (approx. at a 3 second interval). The "lag" doesn't last more than 0.5 milliseconds, but it's really, really annoying. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling the Synaptics touchpad drivers (I use Windows 10). I tried the ones from Lenovo Support, then the generic ones. I also tried disabling PalmCheck. It didn't work. I tried disabling Realtek Audio Manager, as some people on these forums had a problem with the audio driver causing some kind of conflict, on other laptop models. But that did not work either. Then I installed Ubuntu, and the problem still persisted. I have this annoying touchpad problem even in boot menus! (like Windows/Ubuntu menus, before installing the OS).I opened up a program, which is incorporated into the Synaptics Driver on Windows, called MoodPad, which basically draws a line when you swipe your finger across the touchpad surface. I noticed there are gaps inbetween. I posted some photos to make things more clear. The intervals are fixed, no matter if you swipe the finger across or not. For instance, if you happen to swipe it 2 seconds after the previous "lag" had occured, the next one will occur after 1 second (there is a 3 second interval, as I said before), and so on. Here are the photos from MoodPad. The red circles rep... Read more

I'm having some lag with my touchpad, about every 3 seconds. Searched around about this problem and did some updates on the driver.

Even did a factory reset, but same problem.

Anyone having similar problem and fixed it?
Read somewhere that it may have something to do with the Realtek HD audio software/driver??

Using external mouse for the most, but would be nice to have the option to use a functional touchpad from time to time.

Okay so, I got my Lenovo Ideapad Y500 a couple days ago. Liked it and all BUT when I had my mouse connected into the laptop and then turned off the touchpad, it would not turn back on. The only way I could get my touchpad to work again is by restarting the computer, which is pretty frustrating. I searched this: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?   for ANY drivers/software for the Y500 mousepad and there are none. Can anyone help me fix this problem before I get a refund from this potentially bad purchase? FN + F6 toggles the touchpad on and off and I have tried to turn it on and off, with and without the external mouse connected. Thanks for the help.

I use this laptop for blogging and listening to music as well as job hunting, however, it will not register the keyboard or touchpad at all. I called Customer Support and the best answer they could give me was to bring it back to the store I got it from--this was an incompetent answer to the problem. I have tried touching and holding the power button for 15 seconds and when it restarts, the problem is not fixed. None of the keys are working. Period. I have a mouse for a gaming computer, however, I do not have a keyboard to plug in to use. If I could get a response to this, that would be GREAT!!! I cannot log in or do anything with my lap top right now and am currently stuck doing things from my cell phone.

Hello My Ideapad 100S has in the last couple of days developed a curious problem. I hope you will allow me to link to the experts here. It has not been possible to clarify the information with the OS or notebook manufacturer.

Problems using a Lenovo Ideapad s300 primarily for use as a desktop machine prompts the clarification of possible causes and remedies. A link to a previous unsolved post to resolve the problems is documented at [1]. This post attempts to clarify the minimal mouse and touchpad driver requirements. The s300 uses an external display and mouse. The machine performed well, and reliably for approx. the first 7 months until 21.05.2015. After an automatic Windows 8.1 update; it began independently deleting folders, files and Desktop icons on the mouse Left Double-Click in Windows 8.1.

An obvious problem with the installed driver is in Control Panel -> Mouse Properties -> which displayed a "Hardware" tab, but no "Device Settings" tab as in [2]. The touchpad cannot be deactivated. As shown in [1] Device Manager displays no "Mouse" driver conflicts. This suggests a Mouse driver or Touchpad driver problem. The presently installed mouse drivers are shown in Device Manager at [1].

What are the minimal required mouse, keyboard and touchpad drivers for Lenovo Ideapad s300?

Clarification:
1) When is the Touchpad Driver (Synaptics, Elan) for Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit) required?
2) What is the recommended procedure to install the Touchpad Driver (Synaptics, Elan) for Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-... Read more

Hey all, I'm brand new to the forums, but I've used the site countless times to help solve problems I've had with various computers.

I'm usually not one to directly ask for computer help, being the acclaimed "Computer Guy" in my circle of friends and family, it takes a little too long to get an answer if I need to fix something fast, but this case is a little different.

A few weeks ago my friend bought a brand new Lenovo Ideapad Z710 laptop pre-installed with Win8. I "Upgraded" to Win7 for him, as neither of us can stand the new OS. Usually I have no trouble reinstalling drivers after installing a new OS, but for some reason his touchpad driver will NOT install.

I'm using the official driver for his computer, it's apparently a synaptics driver and it says it should work completely fine with Win7, but when I try to run the installation, I get the error "Synaptics Device Not Found!"

There are a few issues that I believe are related to the driver not being installed that may tell you guys something. When he closes his laptop lid and open it again, his mouse jumps over the screen endlessly, and he cannot use the computer until he restarts. Also, he can't turn his touchpad off, which I assume is a function that comes with the driver.

Any help or input is greatly appreciated, if you need any more information please feel free to ask.

Thanks again,
-Tyler

Hello all,

I recently bought one of these Y570's and I am more than impressed with the performance it provides. However, I am confused because Lenovo says that the SSD is integrated somehow into the mechanical HDD. I don't really know how this is possible. I would like to eventually reformat this because of the bloatware it came with. However I am unsure which part of the HDD has the OS on it.

When I enter the computer management to see the partitions, I receive this message and this error.

"The driver cannot find the sector requested" - which makes me feel that my HDD is already failing? Someone please tell me this isn't true.

I then look at "My Computer" in which it shows two drives. 1st is the C drive which has windows on it, but the smaller drive has some of the apps that came with this computer as well as the drivers. This leads me to believe that it may be the SSD but the advertisement said the SSD was 64GB's.

I have also attached an image of my disk partitions for anyone who may decide to help.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

~ wookie

A:Lenovo Y570 SSD & HDD concerns

There is such a drive. Supposedly it is very fast with out the cost associated with a pure SSD drives.

The C: drive listed is the OS. I suppose the Lenovo labeled drive would contain utilities and the 14gb labeled OEM partition is very likely partition that contains image of your running OS. You do not really need to keep it but then if you do not, you should use some other means to backup your OS.

Overall very pleased with the look, feel and performance of the laptop.  As many i did notice the excessive cooling and noise coming from the fan, in both idle state and when performing simple tasks such as photo viewing or opening multiple windows. I tried updating the BIOS, didn't help( and can't find the advanced bios settings activation). I installed NBFS and this does help by manually controlling the fan speed not to go in full activity at the low BIOS set temperatures (at approx 50 degrees celsius). Now that I have installed the fans, I keep an active eye on the cpu temperature through the monitoring icon provided by the NBFS tool and am concerned about the temp fluctuations.  When starting the laptop, it boots ( plugged) at 35 degrees, shooting up to 60 degrees when activating all apps etc, then drops to an idle between 38 and 45 degrees. However any activity that requires a heavier load ( opening photoviewer/instagram) and multiple windows creates these spikes of temperatures rising up to 62 - 72 degrees celsius after which they come back down again.  What's your experience with the cpu temp spikes with the 710? Are more users experiencing these temp spikes? I know it's relatively oke up to 100 degrees, and I am going to stress test the cpu, but it feels rather unstable.

A:lenovo yoga 710 cpu temperature concerns

it Update: Installed the second BIOS update that was mentioned on the forum. Now with NBFC on read only status the fan indeed is not as active, so it appears Lenovo has adjusted the fan control on the temperatures.  However, with the laptop in high performance mode , i opened Opera browser with youtube and three other windows and the temperatures are increasing to 75-83 degrees celsius.  I believe we should be able to use the laptop at optimum settings without experiencing these unhealthy cpu temps. Could it simply be subpar quality of the fans used, the kaby lake cpu quality or is this a defect?
