PC more crashes than peak hour on the freeway.

Q: PC more crashes than peak hour on the freeway.

This PC keeps crashing more times than you see crashes on the freeway. It comes in bursts. With the time between narrowing until it crashes during loading. Not the BSOD type - just flop - like the electrical power stopped.

Sometimes it seems like its overheated as reason (the temps though read normal).
Other more frequent times its just clicking on a folder - crash. Or scaring it by moving or scrolling the mouse too quickly - crash. As if the exertion was to much. Its not windows. I can reformat or grab another HDD & install win7x64 on it and thump - crash. Sometimes the critter will go for a day or three. Then it starts again. When it happened at the height of last summer the Repair shop claimed it was over heating. They were guessing. When I left it there it never crashed.

The sys. info =

Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. EP35-DS3P

(1) USB Audio Device (2) High Definition Audio Device
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GS
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1
Its a damn good PC I don't want to replace it.

Preferred Solution: PC more crashes than peak hour on the freeway.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I know you said you weren't getting traditional BSOD's, but there may be older ones that give clues. Follow these steps:

M83, with 2 DP monitors.  Video goes blank multiple times an hour, 5 second blank screen then recovery with error about driver.  Updated Bios to current.  All drivers updated, swapped out with known good: Monitors,Cables,Memory,ReimageMB (GPU)No change.  Put in multiple tickets, mostly suggested Video drivers.  They finally ended up replacing MB which I thought would resolve issue, but it didn't. I finally swapped out the Procesor with one from a know good machine of the same model and manfacturing date.  Issue was resolved on original machine and the other machine started to have the original issue.  Swapped processors back to original machines and put in new ticket to have processor replaced.  We'll see how Lenovo responds to that. Anyone else ever have Video issues caused by processor?

While doing seemingly resource light tasks such as watching a youtube video or listening to soundcloud, I would get BSOD. There are several different ones like the Watch dog one, pfn list corrupt, IRLQ not less or equal, system service exception and a memory dump.

I just did a fresh install of Windows 8 since I thought 8.1 was causing the issue. It started up around the time I upgraded to it and has gotten progressively worse.

Using an AMD HD7870 with the current non beta drivers. It caused it with the beta driver as well.

I checked all the RAM (4 sticks of 4) and they all worked individually.

What should my next step be?

So I just had basically 3 crashes in an hour just a while ago. The first one happened while watching a youtube video and the whole computer froze leaving a sound loop had to make a forced restart. The second one was a BSOD, while the computer was in idle. I was able to use the .exe file here to create the zip file. But about 10-15 seconds after it finished the computer froze again, and I had to force a restart.

3 crashes in 1 hour, that's the most crashes I've ever seen for my computer.

I've built a gaming PC last month and everything was fine until a few days passed and my PC started crashing frequently.
Here's a picture of the blue screen I get every couple of hours :

I already ran the "Windows Memory Diagnostic" tool and it detected a memory problem and it said that I should "contact the manufacturer"

Here the details about my PC :

OS : "Windows 7 Ultimate"
Motherboard : "Gigabyte G1 Gaming GA-Z170-Gaming K3"
CPU : "Intel Core I5 6600K"
8GB of RAM (One stick of 8GB)
An SSD for Windows 7 + 1 tera HDD
GPU : "Nvidia geforce gtx 1070"

I installed all the updates for Windows 7 and I also updated all the drivers with the software "Driver Booster 7"

Should I update to Windows 10 ?
Or maybe it's my motherboard that is defective ? I only put one stick of RAM on my motherboard because it crashes when I put both of them...

Do you guys have any idea what I could do ?

A:I've built a PC but it crashes every 1-2 hour (blue scree)

You have not included the most important part; the exact pw supply you have installed.
When you list parts, do not list 8gig of ram. Post the exact brand and model# Do that for ALL of your parts.

Hey guys,

I've noticed this in the last few days, but my internet seems to crash at the exact same time (29 past the hour) every hour. We've recently had a new modem in, and was working fine. I recently had a mass clearout of a lot of things in my PC (got rid of 500 gigs), so I'm wondering whether I may have deleted something which has caused this.
Wondering whether anyone knew why this is happening and what I can do to resolve.

I'm having a hard time with this brand new PC and can't figure out what is wrong.

I have tried the following games: Shayia, WolfET, Fallout3, Far Cry2.

All of them crash after 10min to 1 hour of gameplay. I get a blue screen that flickers then my pc reboots.

I tried WinXp 64b and WinXp 32 sp3. still the same results.

I tried with the drivers that came with my system, didnt fix the problem so tried with the ones on the manufacturer's websites for all hardware didnt work any better.

Here is my gear: CPU:Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3G/1333/6M/S775

MOBO: ASUS P5Q ( It broke after 9 days of games failing so I had the store give me a new one, since they believed that was the problem)

Hard Drive: 500G 7200 SATA2 SEAGATE

Power supply: Corsair 650W

Video Card, EVGA 9800GTX+ 512M

I use to understand everything that was happening with my old PC ( 5 years old) even changing blown up caps on it but this new computer with all the new technologies is overwhelming and after spending a good amount of cash I would like to be able to play a game.

Will wait your expert advice

Hi all,

New to the forum, so please feel free to correct any noob mistakes/tell me if I haven't explained myself correctly/relocate me to the correct section of the forum.

My Laptop has an ongoing problem (about a month now) persistent through several windows updates. The taskbar will sometimes, with no clear trigger or cause, start to rapidly flash between all my open windows, eventually when I click anywhere on the taskbar I am prompted with a not responding windows and the only option is to end the "microsoft windows" process. All the taskbar icons then disappear and seem to reload over approx 10 seconds, once this is complete, all the same windows are open, its as if nothing has happened?

Needless to say this is seriously irritating, and gets me raging so my productivity hits rock bottom,
Any thoughts on how to solve this matter would be greatly appreciated!

A:Taskbar Crashes approx 4-5 times an hour - no clear cause.

Hi, welcome to tenforums.

I'm guessing that what you are seeing is explorer restarting. However, your description of 'flashing' is not something I'm familiar with personally. When you say "microsoft windows" process - do you mean explorer.exe?

First try the Event Viewer and see if you can find any helpful reports there.
Noting the time of a particular event when it occurs can help a lot.
(A simple program that can give a quick view of crashes is Appcrash by Nirsoft - free).
Please post what you find if anything.

Erratic problems can be intrinsically hard to track down in that when trying a process of elimination, you just have to wait to see if the symptom occurs.

If this is due to a program you've installed, you can check this by doing a clean boot, and then waiting 'long enough' to see if your problem recurs.

Hello all,

After attempting to self-troubleshoot this issue on and off for months to no avail, I've decided to ask for a bit of help here. I've been receiving very, very frequent BSODs (averaging about 3-4 per hour as of recent) on my computer whenever browsing the web, starting up, listening to music, or even while letting it sit idle. These errors have brought up messages ranging from system_service_exception to memory_management, bad_spool_header (I don't remember the name of that one exactly) and page_fault_in_nonpaged area as well as a myriad of others. Googling the error made me think the issue might be with the drivers in my computer being incompatible with particular Windows Updates, but when I've gone into the Control Panel to uninstall the updates I hear about online, I find that I don't even have them installed. Another fix I tried was updating the drivers for my processor/graphics card (AMD Phenom II / ATI Radeon ----) but I found that the installer kept crashing my computer as well.

I have no idea what triggers these errors or why they pop up so frequently - all of this crashing has only began happening as soon as I upgraded to the full version of Windows 8 from the beta around December. The crashing got so bad about a week ago that I refreshed the computer, hence why the attached logs only go up until May 11th. My computer is an HP rig that I have replaced the motherboard/processor/RAM of, so I guess you could say it's basically a self-built computer, if it tu... Read more

A:Multiple, random crashes per hour - highly frustrating

Lets separate hardware from software problems

Please restart the computer in safemode with networking

Copy all important data to an external media (its possible your harddrive may be stopping/freezing)

browse the web, your files/folders play some media, normal everyday stuff and leave it in safemode til it crashes

If you are satisfied that the problem is gone then run the task manager and disable all startup items

Run your antivirus programs

download Spybot search and destroy v 1.62 (not ver 2) and run, click fix selected problems after its done

Here are two files that will get you into and out of safemode easily.

copy them to your desktop and run as administrator by right clicking the file and select run as administrator

Run safemode boot only once the system will keep booting in safemode until you run the normal boot file after all is done and the system is running ok..

Hi all.

I'm new here so first off if I'm missing any info or you need anything more specific, just let me know.

About 6 days ago my computer started to crash (as in no shutdown sequence, just straight off) and reboot on the hour, every hour. So 11am, 12pm, 1pm on the dot.

I tried memtest to see if it was a memory issue and it ran for 3 hours with no errors. Safe mode is not effected so it seems to be specific to windows proper.

Here are the main details about the error:
SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION 0x0000003b Caused by driver ntoskrnl.exe

There was a weird error message in task scheduler as well, which I have posted in the screenshots below.

I have also attached the logs as per forum instructions and a dump from bluescreenview although that may just be the same, I'm not sure.

That's all I can think of right now, but please fire away any and all suggestions and I'll add more info as I can

Hi there. I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. A while ago i started to have problems with the clock time. So i started searching for answers on Google. Every topic referred to Cmos battery but I doubt it to be Cmos battery fault for one reason: My Laptop Emachine eMe442 is for like a month or more plugged in to the wall socket so in my (noob) opinion Cmos battery wouldn't be needed in idle mode or when pc is switched off to keep track of time. Right? Anyway, i been reading a topic on this site on same problem and there was proposed to check Bios time. I did that, and guess what, PROBLEM. Bios time seems to me is not working, or not even counting....So normally this started new question. Here they are: 1) Does Cmos battery keeps time running when in idle mode or pc is off, even if pc is plugged into the charger?
2) Whats the problem here, why my pc don't keep track of time?
3)How do i fix whatever is wrong with my Bios time?
P.s: Even when i switch on my pc, if i don't click on clock it dosn't start counting, and after i click on clock and synchronize with one of default servers after awhile it starts losing time.

A:Bios hour not the same as laptop hour.

Hello Florin, and welcome to Sevenforums!

If the time isn't working, then it does sound like the motherboard battery. Have you tried changing the time? You can change it usually by using tab, arrow keys, and the enter key to get to it, and change hour, minute, and second. Make sure you click "Save and Exit" to reboot the computer and keep the new motherboard time settings. After that, you might log into your admin account and change the time from there. Left-click the clock, click "Change date and time settings...", click the "Internet Time" tab, click "Change settings...", and click "Update now".

Wait a little while (however long it may take), reboot the computer, go into BIOS, and check the time again. If it isn't working, then you may nee to replace the motherboard battery.

Hey all, Recently had a malware infestation including the names of MS Juan, Virtumondu and Smitfraud; I've managed to clean up almost 100% of it using Kaspersky, HJT and SAS, However i've got one very annoying problem ...
At every hour windows generates the error beep noise, and by using processexplorer64 I can see a rouge rundll32.exe process being run from one of the svchosts trying to run a dll
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnMgdAQ.dll",d"
The particular file was cleaned up with the rest of the malware yet something is still calling it every hour; It's interesting to note that the other normal rundll32.exe processes run at normal user level, while this one is at NT AUTHORITY

All virus scans now say im completely clean, yet I dont think this is quite right; I've even run scans from other windows partitions and safemode. When booting into safemode, or diagnostic mode with no services, this dll file problem dissapears. Could you guys please give me a hand ?

By the way, I'm using XP64 so tools like Avenger and Combofix probably wont run.

My system: Windows 7, 8 GB RAM, AMD Phenom II x4, boot off SSD, HDD for mass storage, Gigabyte Mobo...
So my computer (2 yrs old) started freezing after running for an hour.  Appeared to have no correlation to what activities I was doing.  First symptoms: Chrome (installed on C Drive) would freeze ("waiting on cache") Then windows explorer would freeze, then video would cut black and sound would play a steady tone (assuming mobo crashed at this point). Then comp would shut down reboot and be unable to find an OS to load.  If I shoot the comp, it reboots and runs just fine until another hour passes and same thing.
I assumed my C Drive (SSD) was going bad so I ran a few hard drive health softwares and all came back 100%.  I then assumed my RAM was broken and not clearing properly so I ran memtest and it came back clean.  At this point I assume it's a windows error.
My next course of action was to do a clean install of Windows 7.  Not only that but I also installed it on a different SSD.  Seemed to resolve the issue for a day but now its back, however not as consistent.  Every once in a while after booting it will freeze in an hour however it will not crash.  Just freezes windows explorer and chrome will be "loading cache" however other apps on the C drive such as rainmeter and itunes appear to still work unless that's just it running off of RAM.  If I am installing anything, such as a windows update or softw... A:Freezes on the hour every hour mystery?!

Have you checked your Scheduled Tasks for events that occur hourly?
Let's look at these 2 sets of reports:
1)  Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).
FYI - If we're looking for Event ID 41 errors (unexplained shutdowns), there's more info on that here:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504
While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility:  http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Hey everyone,

I have been having trouble with my network. I recently, (2 days ago), upgraded my cable high speed internet service from 2mbps down and .2 mbps up to 15 mbps down and 2 mbps up. However, even during non peak hours, pretty much all the time, the best download speed I can get is 4-5mbps. My upload speed stays where it should, at 2mbps. It is really only my download speed I am concerned about, because this happens every day all day. When I first upgraded the service, I got 12-13 mbps download speed, so something must have happened between then and now where I cant receive that anymore. My modem is a doscis 2, not 3, so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. It is an Arris TM602G/15 model. But as I said, I have received close to the full download speeds before, but not anymore.

Any help? Thanks!

A:Not getting speeds I am paying for... Even during NON-peak

Try contacted the service provider again ? They should have technicians to be able to check it for you. Could also be a line problem, did you add anymore lines to your cable lines inside ?

How are you testing it, where ? Did you change any other settings on PC. Windows does all optimizations for you.

Try resetting the modem, unplug it for 15 seconds, then plug back in. Or unplug and reboot PC. Usually a way to reset the modem back to factory state, need to check your service providers website for your model modem to be able to access it's settings. Usually you type in an address in your browser to access it.

Hi guys,

I've recently bought a new computer, and it's an issue I've had with another Windows 7 desktop that I purchased before. Unfortunately, when I fixed it originally, I don't exactly remember how because it was after hours of frustrating trial and error.
Anyways, the issue is that while all volume levels are set for peak output, the green/grey volume bar is only going up about halfway. I have been told to check all settings, check my speakers and reinstall my audio driver; however, none of them have fixed the problem. I have plugged my speakers directly into my iPod and they work fine, and I've tried different music-playing software, and the same issue persists.

If anybody has any ideas on how to fix this problem, it was be appreciated.

Recently the idea of purchasing some more RAM crossed my mind considering how cheap it can be now. After doing some searchin on google, i found mixed feelings towards whether or not you should have more than 1GB of RAM. I also started reading about the Windows Page file. I am running the following system: 3.2GHz P4 with 1GB of RAM. I download alot of torrent files but i am not a hardcore gamer. My question is why does it seem like windows is not using my ram to its full potential. The Peak always shows about 667236, and while i am currently downloading a torrent the page file is at 635MB. Should the page file not only be in use when you need to store more memory than u have RAM? What settings/modifications should I make for optimal performance, and should I get more RAM? I was thinking adding another 512.

At one point i disabled the Page File but Photoshop got mad. Is there anything wrong with disabling the PF, and should u when u have a certain amount of RAM?

Any guidance helpful.

A:Solved: Ram+peak+page File

Windows XP always uses the page file for low priority data regardless of how much physical memory is free. If you still have a lot of physical memory free while you are using as much of it as you ever would, you do not need to upgrade your memory. 1GB of memory is usually more than enough for any normal task. And no, it is not a good idea to disable the page file, as you found out.

I like playing Team Fortress 2 but I only get decent latency (~50 ms) outside peak hours (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.), at these hours my latency goes up to 400 ms. I'm wondering if is this is a problem inherent to dsl infrastructure or is it that my isp is worse than average. In Mexico City there are only about 3 internet service providers, Prodigy Infinitum from the country's telecomunications giant(and a monopoly) Telmex is the one I use.
Of course most of their clients use the internet for sending emails and web browsing so I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't care for providing a decent service for gamers.
How does everyone's isp perform for gaming?

A:High latency at peak hours

Most ISP's have you on a system with a lot of other users in your neighborhood. What you report is typical. You provider will provide you high speed and bandwidth at an increased price, and then this problem will go away.
We have performed a lot of work in Mexico City and certainly found a great number of providers... not just three... have you talked to repair services in your part of the city.
I do know that the costs are extremely high for service and support, compared to the USofA

Does anyone know how to contact PEAK? I've tried googling them to no avail and they're not listed on the ATI site either.

I bought the card 2nd hand and when it boots into windows it has artifacts in the shape of pale vertical lines across the screen. Underclocking doesn't seem to remove this either.

I've got a 350W PSU but I've ordered a 400W incase it's a power problem (but surely underclocking would solve that?) and I've also ordered a fan in case it's a heat problem but the artifacts appear even after a cold boot so I'm wondering if the card has been broken.

If anyone has any advice or knows how to contact PEAK that would be most appreciated.

What are some tools that I need to keep my computer at "peak performance"?
So far, I already have the following:
MalwareBytes Anti-Malware
Smart Defrag
Advanced SystemCare

What else should I get?

A:Keeping my computer at peak performance?

Well, for starters, MWBAM is a Anti-malware/Security tool, not a performance tool. CCleaner and Smart Defrag are good choices for performance, I have never heard about Advanced SystemCare - if it includes a "Registry Cleaner", i'd keep away from it. Registry Cleaners usually do more harm than good.

Always keep an eye on startup programs as well (those can affect performance), and be aware of the limitations of your computer's hardware.

Outside of that, I think your doing fine program wise.
How do you feel the computer is running?

Please post your system specs as well.

I'm sure others will chime in.

I have had the Windows 7 32-bit RTM for just over a day and find the Aero Peak too slow to display the thumbnail images.

My computer is quick, with 2.2 Core 2 Duo, 3GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce 8600m 256MB DDR3, so clearly my laptop isn't the problem. It takes about 1 second to display the thumbnails, I think that's way too slow.

1. How can I make it display thumbnails quicker? Which speed do you recommend?

2. Will changing the speed increase memory usage of Windows processes?
