A:I have used HJT Analyzer, can someone help, please??

Welcome to TSF.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Hi, I am posting a log for my work computer which is on a network (I work for Bechtel, which shows up a lot in the log). My internet connection has been considerably slowed and I am getting a lot of popups. The whole computer has actually been slowing down a lot lately too. I followed the guide post and ran ad-aware 6.0 professional and the online virus scan. I also ran Spybot 1.3 to double check. The log below is the result.txt file that HJT Analyzer put out. My anti virus program is Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition 8.00.9374. Please let me know if you need anymore information. Thanks so much for your help.

Hi ronda......I'm gonna assume that you recognize the Start Page and Trusted Zone entries as being valid for your Bechtel intranet. You really should be having this conversation with your IT staff.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.

I don't see it here. Is that program running when you did the HijackThis scan?

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

If you have a fast internet connection (broadband), run an online virus scan at TrendMicro. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the online scan. Otherwise, make sure your antivirus program has the latest definitions and run a full system scan.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

Reboot into Normal Mode and run new HijackThis scan. If there were some entries that didn't show up in Safe Mode, you may check and fix those that appear now in normal mode (if you do that, make sure to run a new scan again). Save the log file and run KRC HijackThis Analyzer in the same folder to get the result.txt log. Just post the contents of the result.txt file in the forum.

My question is what is this application? I can not seem to find much information if any on it.
Do I need it?

A:Help with my HJT Analyzer log !

That's a very small log. Was it run in Safe Mode. If so, we need one run in Normal Mode.

You have an outdated version of HijackThis. Download the newest version at http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/HijackThis.exe and run it.

Before you give us a new log here, if we gave you instructions for a fix, please do the fixes first and then post the new log with this updated version.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Get HijackThis Analyzer http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/KRC%...20Analyzer.zip and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in 'y' if you agree. The 'result.txt' file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. You don't need to post the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the co... Read more

Hi and Welcome to TSF

Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run ad-aware SE with VX2 add-on cleaner, Spybot Search & Destroy (with updated database) and CWShredder as these programs will clean a lot of the crap out first. All links to programs are in my signature. Ok..on to the log?..

Make sure you run CWShedder as you have a coolweb varient in the system!

If you have a highspeed connection please Run an online virus scan from TrendMicro Please select the ?autoclean? option when prompted to do so.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also. Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Open add/remove programs and remove the following if listed.

WildTangent
WeatherBug
System Soap Pro
Miniclip

Kazza?? I did not list it or it's files for removal but do recommend you remove it as it's a HUGH security risk for adware/spyware/

A:Tried Everything HJT Analyzer Used

Can someone help me figure out how to get rid of some malware permanently? I've run Norton anti-virus and Housecall. Both find no problems. Running Ad-aware and spybot find the salm.exe, qevogjco.exe, and Win Ad Control shown in the log. I clean it, and next scan they have reappeared. Same story when I use regedit to delete and HJT. Ad-watch notifies me of the registry change, but I cannot block the change. Clicking on block just brings the same thing back up and stays in that loop, locking up my computer until I accept the change. Can you help resolve this problem? I would GREATLY appreciate any help--it's driving me crazy! Here's my HJT Analyzer log. Thanks. irbuggy

Hello...new to the forum. I really appreciate your help. Ever since I installed Win XP SP2 I've had probs with adware. Pop up ads everywhere when browsing web. Luckily hasn't slowed the PC down much but very annoying. I use NAV 2004 antivirus (I know, I know) and keep it updated and periodically run housecall also.

SInce having this prob I've used updated AdAware, CWShredder, and Spybot Search and Destroy several times with many objects removed. Seems to work for short while but then problem returns.

So, finally getting serious...carefully followed instructions of what to do before posting log. Here is my hjt log. It is the "new log" generated by hjt analyzer. I REALLY thank you for your help. I will search the forum for some areas where I might be of help to thers too.

My computer is at a standstill with the cpu running non stop at 100% all day. I have run Panda, RAV, and Micro online virus/trojan scanners as well as Adaware, Spybot, and Norton. I am at a loss for what has happened because I run a few spyware scanners every week to prevent this from happening. The only thing I installed before this happened was activesync to run my new dell axim which I can't even use because it takes 10minutes to do anything.

Posted below is the HijackThis log and the KRC HijackThis Analyzer Result log.

Hello, and welcome to TSF!

Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

We'll need to unload Spybot's Teatimer before we begin. To do this, right-click on the icon in the quick launch toolbar at the bottom on the screen, then select "Exit".

Hello all,

I am trying to remove xlime.offeroptimizer.com & images.trafficmp.com pop ups from my computer and can't get completly rid of the darn things. I have tried everything I can think of. I have used lavasoft, Spybot S&D, F-Prot and tried to manualy remove them with some info that I got from http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/Transponder.html. I honestly think that I have several infections and they keep reloading even though I have turned off windows restore. Anyway, I have read some of the other solutions posted here and I have tried to assemble the correct information for a diagnosis.

System Stats:

compaq NC4000 (laptop)
Operationg system Windows XP Professional w/service Pack 2
Windows system restore is OFF

I turned off windows restore and ran f-prot and rebooted.
Next I ran spybot S&D 1.3 and rebooted.
then I ran Hijack this and here is my log file.

Hi,

I've seen many people post their log on the board. Well, I'm not against it, but I don't think it help yourself in anyway. Go to the following URL and analyze your log automatically, besides, you can learn to do it yourself.

Edit: I have deleted this URL, and this is why:

I knew about this tool within days of it going on-line. This is the 2nd generation, or attempt, to create an automatic log analyzer (I had used the first one when I was in training).

I put about two dozen logs through this analyzer (from our archive, here) and checked results against analysis and repair done here. There were a number of incomplete repairs done by this analyzer, but, more importantly, one system would have been crashed by the recommended repair.

Now, we are not perfect here, and we might one day crash a system, but with the huge volume of logs we run here daily, seven days a week, I do not remember when we last crashed one (or if we have, truthfully).

So, we recommend this program to our trainees to help them in their learning process (and would recommend it to you for the same). We will not recommend this to the general public as an advisable tool for self-help.

We hope that you will understand.

A:Highjack this Log Analyzer

Hello there, welcome to TSF

You are quite correct. Users can learn to analyse their own log, provided they receive the correct training. It is very dangerous to delete entries from a log if you do not have the experience and in so doing can trash your system. We at TSF are aware of the site you have indicated but be warned, it is ONLY a guideline to assist in analysing logs. It is quite possible that the analysis provides the user with some false positives. Rather leave log analysis to those who have the experience and have spent a lot of time training and researching security issues.

Hello:

Here's my problem - some sort of malware is hijacking Amazon.com links, and redirecting them to an Amazon associate ID link (Amazon ID is something like "wwwpalitoycom").

This *only* occurs when I use Firefox (1.0.5). It does not happen when I use IE or Maxthon. It does not happen on Firefox on my other computer.

I use SpywareGuard, SpywareBlaster, Spybot S&D (1.4RC2), and AdAware Pro (6.181), and all of them are up-to-date.

I ran AA and SBS&D, and each found "IST Bar"-
ISTBAR obj[0]=RegKey : Software\IST

I quarrantined it, rebooted, re-scanned, and they came up empty. I don't know if that's the offender, but I still have the Amazon link hijack problem.

So I followed your instructions, and I hope you can help me. Below is the "fixed" log, after running HijackThis & the analyzer. Thank you.

Need a little help cleaning off this PC. I have run the latest versions/definitions of Ad-Aware SE with the VX2 add-on, SpyBot S&D, Symantic AV, and CWShredder. The system still has problems with the browser being hijacked. Also, when shutting down or restarting, it hangs due to an 'unknown' process not responding.

A:Please help with my Hijackthis analyzer log

Hi and Welcome to TSF

Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run ad-aware SE with VX2 add-on cleaner, Spybot Search & Destroy (with updated database) and CWShredder as these programs will clean a lot of the crap out first. All links to programs are in my signature. Ok..on to the log?..

Please make sure system restore is enabled by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn OFF System Restore and make sure it?s NOT checked. We want system restore ON and monitoring your current hard drive. Once your clean we will turn this off and then create a new restore point.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Open add/remove programs and remove ErrorGuard if listed. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be but make sure)

C:\WINDOWS\msagent\spoolsv.exe

Check and fix the following in HijackThis if they still exist (make sure you do not miss an e... Read more

I have no idea what to do with this but suspect something is slowing down my PC. Whenever I access my F drive (dedicated to media drive) my cpu is up @ 95 - 100% and slows down everything on the PC. The process responsible is explorer.exe but obviously I have to keep this running. I have enclosed my log from Advanced System Care. Any one with any info on this matter I would love to hear your verdicts.

Many thanks

I don't see much fixing here, but see if fixing these will get rid of whatever problem you are having. What problems are you having?

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

O13 - WWW. Prefix: http://
O18 - Protocol: relatedlinks - {CD8D1CAA-FE4A-45DF-A06C-028AAF1821DE} - (no file)

Restart and run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here.

Hello, I'm having a problem with an onslaught of pop up ads from Internet Explorer. Dozens of them keep popping up and continue to do so without stopping. I ran the CWShredder (no viruses were found), Ad-Aware, and Spybot, although the last two seem to make things worse. The ads appear even more numerous after I run those programs. I use my SBC Yahoo! Browser, but all the ads come from IE. My log is as follows:

Please empty any Quarantine folder in your antivirus program and purge all recovery items in the Spybot program (if you use it) before running this tool.

Download the Mwav virus checker at http://www.mwti.net/antivirus/mwav.asp (Use Link 3)

1. Save it to a folder.
2. Reboot into Safe Mode.
3. Double click the Mwav.exe file. This is a stand alone tool and NOT just a virus checker......so it won't install anything.
4. Select all local drives, scan all files, and press SCAN. When it is completed, anything found will be displayed in the lower pane.
5. In the Virus Log Information Pane......
Left click and highlight all the information in the Lower pane --- Use &CTRL C &on your keyboard to copy everything found in the lower pane and save it to a notepad file

*Note* If prompted that a virus was found and you need to purchase the product to remove the malware, just close out the prompt and let it continue scanning. We are not going to use this to remove anything...but to ID the bad files.

Once you copy that to a Notepad file...highlight the text and copy it here.
