Whenever I print to the shared printer he print job will just sit in the print queue

Q: Whenever I print to the shared printer he print job will just sit in the print queue

Whenever I print to the shared printer on my Windows 7 desktop, the print job will just sit in the print queue. If I stop and then start the print spooler, the job will print. It happens from an XP laptop. Print jobs sent from the local Windows 7 computer print just fine.
How can i solve this one ? :(

This issue with some particular laptop running windows Xp and windows 7 Home

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Whenever I print to the shared printer he print job will just sit in the print queue

So, the Windows 7 Desktop has the printer physically attached to it and it's shared?
And the XP laptop is sharing the printer through the network? If I understand you correctly?
If so, on the XP Laptop, go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. Are there any devices with yellow flags? Or Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers is there an Unknown Device? Or any listings for the printer? If so, right click it and Uninstall it. Now go to Start/Run and type appwiz.cpl and press enter. In the Add Remove Programs uninstall any drivers or software for the printer. Now,go to Printers and Faxes, and if the printer icons is there, Right click the shared printer icon and Delete it. And Restart the computer. Now when the computer comes back up, go to the printer manufacturers support/download drivers site and type in the model# for the printer and download the driver for the printer for XP and install it. Now, go to Start/Run and type the computer name of the Windows 7 machine (ex) \\ComputerName and press enter. A window should open up with the shared drives on the 7 computer, with the shared printer. Right click the shared printer and choose Connect. This will add the printer to Printers and Faxes again. Right click this printer/Properties and print a Test Page.

This is the setup
A Windows 2000 Workgroup, with one of the computers with a shared printer connected with a parallel cable (print server).

This computer keeps receiving in its queue prints jobs that print out garbage.
In the print queue it says remote downlevel or something like that. It also says that it is coming from one of the computers in the group. I turned off this computer in the group,

I tried Stinger.exe
I tried an update norton Antivirus scan
Any ideas on what else to try?? Or has anyone heard of this virus???

Your help is appreciated!!

Hi, If you have upgraded to higher version of Office, Works, Word, Xcel, etc....but not upgraded all machines, the file opened on the non-updated machine might look like weird characters (garbage). That's only one idea...of course there are other reasons, such as not saving the file in the correct program (this is common between computers that have Works when a file created in Office is viewed) Hope this helps!
There are free file converters which will allow computers not having Word at all to open .doc or .wks files....or that will allow cross-program work.

A client is interested in having external networking ports available for printing to internal, XP-attached shared workstation printers.

Basically, they want to print to external IP address 123.123.123.123:8765 and have IIS push that data to a shared printer at someone's workstation. Ideally we would set up six or eight of these, each with a different port on the public IP.

Any suggestions?

Just migrated our office to a new Server 2012R2 Print server. about a dozen printers installed via GPO to Windows 7/64 workstations. Mostly HP's running Universal PS driver (6.1), plus the odd Kip plotter and Xerox Copier.   For maybe 4 users
out of 30 some, there is a printing problem. When a print job is sent, it appears in the queue and then is immediately deleted.   No other indication that anything is amiss. No events fire, no dimming of the icons or exclamation points,
 no error messages.
That's the consistent part. There is also some inconsistent (but still bad) behavior I'm finding on the different PCs. For some, deleting and re-running gpupdate will  bring the printers back and printing properly, but only for a short time. Sometimes
only one or two printers will print, sometimes not. Sometimes logging in as a different user will install the printers, sometimes no.
I've been fiddling with this over the past few days and gotten absolutely no where.  Now I don't know what to look at next. Any idea would be appreciated!

Earlier this week, our laptop popped up something suspicious, which sent me here. I was assisted, and as far as I know, the laptop was cleaned out. I ran an MBAM quick-scan, ran ATF or something, and an SAS full-scan, and all came back clean. The original topic is here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/227843/potential-trojan-or-other-problem/I installed Avira Antivir, COMODO (firewall only), and Spybot S&D to monitor the registry in the future. For further malware intrusions, this is likely good. However, since installing S&D, Vista has been giving error messages (ie, "Microsoft HTML Executable no longer working," or "Microsoft NET Command stopped functioning" type things). However, the actions I initiate appear to work, despite these errors. In addition, and the real bugger today!, is the printer will print out a document, but the print queue will not clear that item from the spool, and the printer is useless unless we restart the machine. (Stopping the spool, clearing that folder, and starting it again without a restart does not work.) I figure two things, maybe someone here (I was recommended to come here from that forum) can help:1. something with the S&D registry monitor program messed with some needed files? (I have uninstalled S&D now and only need to clear out the ProgramData folder it has to rid my machine of it completely. Supposedly, there's a backup in there from when S&D was first run?)2. the malware/adware problem that I came here for... Read more

Hello,
I wasn't sure where to post this question so I am posting it here. The issue we are having is printing to a networked copier. If we print one job at a time everything works. But if I send multiple jobs all at once and the queue builds up the copier just hangs and the jobs just stay in the queue. The only way to get it going again is to turn the copier off/on. I've updated the drivers for the copier, changed the patch cable on copier and switch, moved it to a different port on the swtich. None of those things did anything. I am actually thinking there is something going on with the copier. Any help would be great. Thanks!!

I have an end user that is printing to a networked Xerox printer. When he prints, his print jobs automatically show in the print queue as "paused". This only happens on the Xerox. I had him try doing this with a networked HP in his area and it doesn't happen on that printer.

I have removed and reinstalled his driver and device. It appeared to be working then a few days later, it does the same thing. We've even had Xerox flash the printer and reset their printer software on the machine as well. From what I see, most of his print jobs are mostly from Outlook and/or Word. Any thoughts here?

I ran into a very odd issue today that as-is I only have working using a workaround. I have a 32-bit windows 7 machine. The HP 6968 printer is hooked into my wireless router via ethernet cable. I downloaded the drivers and ran the setup on another ethernet connected Vista 32-bit machine and a wireless Win7 64-bit machine. Both print just fine.

On the Windows 7 32-bit machine though, nothing will print. I can successfully SCAN using the printer listed under Devices & Printers so I know the computer is talking to the 6968.

When I do try to print I get a message saying that the job has been sent to the printer. The printer never starts and when I view the print queue nothing shows up. I have tried restarting the spooler service and that does not work either. I also made sure there was nothing listed in the "C:\Windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS" directory which there was not. One odd thing I did notice, is that when I print a file will show in this directory for a second and then disappear.

As a work-around, I set up the 6968 on the Vista machine (which is always on) as a shared printer. I then added this shared network printer from the 32-bit Windows 7 machine that I am having the issue with. On the Vista machine there is the option to "render print jobs on client machine" for the shared printer. When enabled, the Windows 7 machine will still NOT print. That's odd. AFAIK, for HP AIOs, one cannot simultaneously use both ethernet and wireless networking.
I think it's "either-or".
I am surprised that you can have both ethernet and wifi enabled on the HP at the same time.
Normally, one would need to disconnect the ethernet to use the wifi, or vice versa.

One *can* use a local (USB) connection + either ethernet or wifi at the same time, though.

I suggest the following for starters:
Disconnect the 32-bit Win7 machine from the HP
Fully uninstall all traces of the HP drivers/software and reboot
Download a fresh copy of the HP drivers/software from the HP drivers/downloads site HEREBe sure to grab the correct drivers/software package for 32-bit Windows 7
There are 2 choices -- the full bloatware package and the "basic drivers"

Reinstall the HP drivers -- make sure you are in a Windows account with Admin privileges when you do; do not connect the computer to the HP until the HP setup wizard prompts you to do so

On the network is a notebook PC running VISTA Home Premium 64 bit. When the notebook sends a print job to desktop, the job sticks in the print queue of the desktop. None of the menu commands on the desktop have any effect on releasing the print job. Print jobs from the desktop and notebook pileup behind the original print job. The only way I know of to print the stuck jobs is to reboot the desktop PC. As soon as I login, all the stuck print jobs start printing???

Does anyone have a fix???

Update to the latest drivers, or get a new printer if that doesn't help. In my experience, that's one of those "mystery problems" that can happen for a number of reasons, and I've rarely been able to narrow the problem down in a reasonable amount of time. Sometimes it's cheaper to just deal with it or replace it.

However, when I try to print a file from the 98 computer, a little window opens up on the 98 screen idicating that it is printing, but nothing prints. The file remains in the printer queue. Ok, so I have an HP Deskjet 1000 printer. And I'm trying to print a Word document from my other computer, but it's not working. I checked the 'See what's printing' for that printer on the computer where I wanted to print from, and it shows a bunch of documents in queue. I tried to cancel or restart them, but nothing happens. I just get 'Error processing command'. I've already checked the C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS, but there's nothing in it. I've already removed the printer and re-inserted it and it downloaded the drivers again. That all went well, but I still can't print from either computer (I have two). On the one computer where the printer is, if I try to print something, nothing happens, no documents in its queue. But from the other computer, it just keeps adding more documents to the queue and I can't do anything. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium on both of them.

I have an HP C5280 printer running wirelessly via a TP Link wireless print server and D Link Di 624 wireless router. However, when I select the double-sided print option I get a print error message after re-inserting the odd number pages to print the other side of the paper and then click 'continue'.

Could I resolve this by connecting the printer both direct to the desktop using USB AND leaving it connected via the wireless TP Link print server? This would enable me to print double-sided from my desktop (as I did before when the printer was only connected via the USB desktop port).

Hi, I just purchased an used computer with Windows 7Home Premium x64, this is an HP Slimline s5610f. The problem that I have is with a Brother HL 2040 series printer. It gave me a really hard time to install the drivers that I downloaded from the Brother website I kept getting a "0x00000057" error and "could not find suitable driver for this printer" error. Finally I decided to take the driver folders for this printer from my wife's computer and copied them to my computer and put them in the drivers repository under System32 and was able to install the printer after that with no problems.

The problem that I have right now is that the printer won't print, even though it told me that the driver installation was successful.

1-the print button is grayed out
2-If I click "printer properties" it tells me that the drivers have not been installed and asks if I want to install them.
3-If I install the drivers at this prompt it tells me that the drivers have been successfully installed.
4-Now it lets me access the printer properties but when I click "print test page" either nothing happens or it tells me that it failed to print and access is denied
5-If i close printer properties and try to access it again it tells me that the printer drivers have not been installed.

I get the same results with the printer connected locally trough USB or on another computer through the network.

I'm working at an office where when you hit the Print Screen button, it causes a printout in addition to the normal copy to clipboard. I just want to copy to clipboard without wasting toner and paper. It can't be a program on the computer as it's clean with just Windows 8.1

It actually happens on all the machines (whether Windows 7, 8, or 8.1). Is it a program installed on the server? Is it a setting in Windows? How do I stop this behavior?

A:Print Screen button will print to the printer! how to stop

By definition the print screen function only sends the image to the clipboard so if the printer is also involved then something else -- some other software installed on your machine -- is the culprit here.

One way to find out what it is is by unhooking the printer and then watching the screen to see what error messages pop up when trying to use the print screen function.

Hi there,
OK, here we go. I previously owned a Lexmark Z25 printer and up to a certain point, it was printing ok. Then it abruptly stopped printing any pages. It sounded as if it was getting the signal from the computer, but nothing would print. Rather than buy new cartridges, which would have cost more than a new printer, I bought a Dell 720. Now, the color prints fine, but I cannot get the black to print. The cartridges are just about full with only a small amount out of the black cartridge.

I read somewhere this week that it has something to do with the software. I believe there was a work-around, but for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it and I didn't bookmark the page! My other computer is WinXP, but I didn't like XP and the fact that I got hosed on the deal with only 128 RAM - never could track down the guy who sold it to me..Figures. Anyway, I now have a computer with WIN2K. I don't have the software for the Dell printer, but I downloaded the drivers from the Dell site. I do have the software for the Lexmark.

Lately, it seems I've seen Dell and Lexmark being spoken of in the same sentence - are they connected?? A LEXPPS.exe, which is Lexmark corporation, is "listening" according to my Comodo, leading me to believe that Dell and Lexmark have a lot to do with each other.

I am trying to be able to print via shared printer on a home network.

The desktop where the printer is connected is running Vista home Premium, the laptop(s) that I would like to be able to print from are running windows xp.

I have created a shared printer on the desktop running vista, at first when I went to add a printer to the laptop I was able to view the desktop computer but not the printer..... turning off the Norton Anti-virus firewall allowed for me to then see the printer on the network....(windows firewall is turned on)

After adding the printing and making it the default printer..... I am still unable to print. It sees the printer even shows in the printer que (when a doc is pending on the desktop) but then job is not finished and never begins to print..... and disappears from the printer que.....

Any thoughts?? Is there a setting in norton anit-virus that is blocking ??? Or could it be windows defender?

The desktop is brand new...

Hi,
in the beginning, I should say the printer is NOT connected to the pc.
I have a shared printer in the network. It's connected via cable to one router. There are usually just two devices (besides the printer, plus phones etc..) in the network: my pc (W7 U 64) - connected to the same router via cable and notebook (W7) - connected via wifi to the same router.
When my pc is on, the notebook can print without any problems, but when it is off, I can see the printer on my notebook, I can try to print stuff, but it only goes to queue and starts to actually print when I turn my pc on.
It is just small home network.
Printer: Ricoh Aficio 3400S but we use 4100N drivers because of the system compatibility

Thanks for your help!

A:Shared printer - Others can't print when my pc is off

Sounds as if the network printer is not installed as a network printer on the other devices. If it is installed as a shared printer (YourPC_Name\Printer_Name), it will naturally only work when your PC is on because the other devices do not search the printer from the network but instead try to connect to it over your PC.

The solution is simple, the printer needs to be installed as network printer on all devices, allowing all devices to connect to it directly instead of over your PC.

I'm running a LAN with a printer attached to 192.168.0.1 and the other computers can't print to it. All systems are running XP Pro and this is a relatively new problem because the printing used to work but stopped all of a sudden. I've gone as far as doing a clean install on .1 but it didn't solve the problem. From the other systems, the printer shows up as "Opening" once the printer window is opened, then quickly goes to "Ready" so that means that the printer is visible to them but when I try to do a test print, a popup that says "Test Print Failed. Would you like to see the print troubleshooter? Operation could not be completed."

Other info: Printer is Canon S530D and it is running the most recent drivers and this problem affects ALL systems on the network.

I am trying to added a printer on a windows 7 machine. When i add new printer and select from the list i get this error.
Connect to Printer.
A policy is in effect on your computer which prevents you from connecting to this print queue. Please contact your system administrator.

I have tried adjusting the Group policy setting and registry as suggested in this article. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=319939&product=winsvr2003
I can manually add the printers via the ip address of the printer, but cannot from selecting them from the available printer list.
Any suggestion to resolve this issue.

Hi,

I would like to suggest you configure the following policies in your default domain policy. After configuring the policies you should run the command:
gpupdate /force.

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Printers\

Point and Print Restrictions >>
Disable
Prevent addition of printers
>> Disable
Prevent deletion of printers
>>
Disable

Local Computer Policies\Administrative Templates\Printers\

Allow print spooler to accept client connections
>> Enable

If the issue persists, you may also refer to the following link to troubleshoot this issue:

Does it work?

Hello and welcome Stacey now just what have you tried?? It sounds like a driver issue to me but unless we have some definite specs on the equipment not much we can do.

hello dear sir
I have the problem with my printers in my office . the printers are HP laser jet 1300 and 2035.
my problems is : After I print a document , printer does not stop and printing white papers until I stop print service or power down the printer.
whenI push ctrl+p  to print ,
some files like shockwave.shd appears in this address." c:\windows\system 32\spooler\printers". and these files never vanished unless i stop the print spooler.
I know that  : The following briefly describes the purpose
of SPL, SHD, and TMP files:

SPL files are the actual spool (print job) files.

TMP files are usually associated with LPR print jobs.

SHD files provide information about which printer the print job was sent to and from
whom the print job came. An SHD file is a "shadow" file that keeps track of what logical printer a (same number) xxxxx.spl file goes to. It also contains the file's order in the queue, the user who sent the file to the printer, and other information.
These files are usually deleted unless the logical printer settings state otherwise.
but these files  never vanished and untils these file were removed manually ,
printer cant print at all.
please help me .

I'm having a problem getting a shared USB multifunction printer to work over my network. It is shared as hpoffice.

The printer is connected to a system running WinXP pro. It works OK from that system. From a a wireless laptop also running WinXP pro, i add the printer via printers and faxes->add printer.
then i select ad a network printer->browse for a printer.

the printer shows up in the dialog box as \\puff-max\hp office g series.

i select it and it shows as ready. i click next and it tells me i'm about to connect to a printer and it will in stall a print driver. i click yes, it asks if i want to use this as a default printer. i select no. it tells me i've sucessfully completed setup.

Now, when i try to print a test page to the printer. i get the following msg:
test page failed to print. would you like to view the print troubleshooter for assistance?

How do i get this to work?

My desktop PC has Windows 7 64 bit and my laptop has Windows 8.1 64 bit. I have two printers connected to my desktop. I am setup for a home network and my modem and router are connected to my desktop. I have my desk top set up to share file and my printers are set up to share. Everything was working fine up until the last 2 or 3 days. When I'm on my laptop I can access my files on the desktop, but now I can't print. From my laptop it will see my printers, but when I try to print I get all kinds of message. Sometimes it says that the print spooler is not running and I know it is. Other times it will ask for a user name and pass word, but I never did use a pass word. Besides when I set up file and print sharing, I disabled using a pass word. There are about 3 different messages that I get telling me that it won't print. If I just right click on the printer icon and select "connect", I still get the messages. I re installed the latest drivers for my printers, I refreshed the print spooler in services, I ran virus scans, and system scans. I reset my router by un-connecting and re-connecting. But it still will not print. The only way I can print is to send the file to my desk top and print from there. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on?

A:shared printer won't print issue

I finally found the problem and was able to fix it. I discovered that Simple File Sharing had to be enabled and for some reason on my desktop it was disabled. So I went into the registry and enabled it. I have no idea how it got disabled, but that was the problem. I might drink an extra bottle of beer tonight to celebrate. I think I deserve it.
The way I changed it was to go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\ForceGuest and change the value from 0 to 1

Hello,One of my users is experiencing an issue where Chrome crashes when printing to a shared printer.  I have tried things like reinstalling the printer and reinstalling chrome.  I am confident that this is not a chrome issue but either a printer issue or a driver issue.  My reasoning is that when I try to print a test page I receive the error "Printer Settings user interface has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" I am looking for a solution for this, I have tried to reinstall the driver, the connection to the printer, reinstall google chrome, delete the browser history, restart the computer, etc.  I have even gone as far as to uninstall all 'unused' printers.  Nothing has worked.    The strange part is that this only started to happen this week.

Hi

I have 2 pc's. One xp pro with epson printer connected via usb and the other wireless laptop connected over us robotics router.

File sharing is working perfectly and can access all the shared folders on both machines.

The printer is shared on the main pc and i can see it and connect to it from the laptop.

The problem is when i print from the laptop it spools it to the print que of the printer and says "printing.." but then just sits there. eventually on the laptop i get an error saying printer is not responding.

I have downloaded the latest epson drivers to the laptop and verified they are working by connecting the printer directly to it. no problems there.

im at a loss now what i can try to get this working.

oh yes should also mention. ive uninstalled all software firewalls on both machines to see if this made any difference, which it didnt.

please help!

Yes, another user that can't print wirelessly!

My Canon MP530 is connected via USB to a desktop PC running XP Pro. The printer is set to share, which is confirmed by Network Magic.

My laptop, also XP Pro, connects wirelessly to a 2Wire modem. The Canon printer is shown as shared on the Laptop. The Network Magic troubleshooter reports that "This printer is available for printing from this computer."

Here's what happens when I try to print from WordPad: I get the Print dialog box showing the Canon MP530. But when I click Print, nothing happens. Same with Print Preview in WordPad.

Notepad isn't much better. In that case I get "The handle is invalid."

A test print using the Printers and Faxes folder yields "Test page failed to print."

The Printer Properties PORTS tab shows Canon MP530 on Port USB001, described as "Virtual printer port for USB." If I click on Configure Port, I get "An error occurred during port configuration. The operation is not supported."
Here are some of the things that I have already tried:

- Deleting and re-entering the share doesn't help.

- Windows Firewall off on both machines - no difference

- Anti-Virus off on both machines - no difference
Any suggestions appreciated!

I've been looking for an answer to my problem all day and have yet to find any help.
I thought I'd figure this out before upgrading to Windows 10.
The issue: I am trying to print from my laptop computer, which is running 8.1 Pro, via wifi to a network printer.
The printer is connected by USB to my main computer which is running 7 Pro. All print and file sharing is turned on.
The printer is shown as being connected on my laptop and I can access files, pictures, etc. on the network.
But it won't print anything. It appears it is printing but nothing happens.
Another computer, also running 7 Pro, can print just fine but it is a wired connection.
I know it's probably something simple but I'm stumped.
Any help would be appreciated!

A:Cannot print to shared printer network

Most likely the Print Server on the Windows 7 computer is screwed up. You would be better to get a Print Server that is compatible for your printer, to place it on the network, vs using another computer as sharing.

XP-Home or XP-Pro? Note that XP-Home has a limitation of 5 connections from other networked computers.
Turn off any firewalls for debugging. If the firewall is the problem, you'll have to configure it to allow access to "trusted zone" addresses. Note that some firewalls must be completely uninstalled to stop them from affecting your networking.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt.

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands:

PING each remote computer by IP address, and if successful, PING by name. Open a command prompt as described above and type.

PING <ip address>
or
PING <computer name>

Where:
<ip address> - is the x.x.x.x IP address
<computer name> - is the computer name

A failure to PING is almost always a firewall configuration issue. Any failure to PING needs to be corrected before you go any farther.

Note: You can obtain the IP address and computer name of a computer by opening a command prompt (DOS window) and typing IPCONFIG /ALL. This should work for any Windows version. The IPCONFIG /ALL display will provide a wealth of useful information for debugging your network connection.

I have a workgroup set up with four XP workstations. Workstation A has a local printer that is shared. When printing to it from any of the other workstations (e.g., Workstation B), the print job owner is listed as "Guest". This is the case even if I'm logged on Workstation B with an account name and password that matches my account name and password on Workstation A.

Is there a way to have the account name from Workstation B show up as the print job owner, instead of it saying "Guest"?

Thanks.

A:Identifying print job owners on a shared printer XP SP2

Is the Guest account enabled on the computer with the shared resource. Just taking stab in the dark. Probably not the problem.

Hi Everyone,

I have setup a Kyocera FS-2020D KX printer on a Windows 7 x64 computer. On the Windows 7 computer the printer is connected by LPT port. Within Windows 7 the printer is set to Share so that it is available over the network to other Workgroup Computers.

On an XP computer I have added the printer by using the Add Printer dialogue. During initial setup of the printer XP stated that it would "automatically get a driver from the host computer", however it failed to do this, and as a result presented me with an additional dialogue which I used to browse for an appropriate driver file.

I am unable to print a test page from the XP computer, furthermore there is some strange behaviour when right clicking on the printer and selecting Printing Preferences. I have created a YouTube video explaining the issues at hand (please take a look):

Kyocera Driver Issue

I believe that there is a basic incompatibility between the host (Windows 7 x64) computers drivers and those of the guest (XP); more specifically I think that these are driven by the fact that the host is 64 bit and the guest is 32 bit.

If anybody has any advice on how to overcome this issue (whilst leaving the printer connected by LPT to Windows 7 x64) can you please let me know?

Kind Regards,

Davo

A:Can't print from XP to shared Windows 7 Kyocera printer

I would just try to get the matching 32 bit XP driver from Kyocera and install in manually. That's how I did it decades ago when the printer ran on a W2000 server and I had to use it from WfW Desktops

You need to add the XP drivers for the Windows 7 machine. Go into devices and printers, highlight the print and click server properties at the top of the Windows. Click over to the drivers tap and click add, it will prompt you for the location of the Windows XP driver.

A:Unable to print multiple copies on shared printer

Is the printer shared on the Desktop? and is Simple File sharing turned on? If so, on the laptop, go to Printers and Faxes, and Delete the printer. Now on the laptop, go to Start/Run and type the computer name of the desktop computer where the printer is attached (ex) \\computername and press enter. It now should show the shared printer and any other shared folders on the Desktop. Right click the Shared Printer and press Connect. The shared printer will now be listed on the laptop. Print a multi page document by opening it, and going to File/Print and changing the amount of pages to print.
