I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Establish a new intranet using Share Point Server 2003 ???

We need to establish a new intranet for one of our customers using Share Point Server 2003.
We are looking for exemplary intranet sites where we can see what are the main areas that
are commonly covered by “todays” intranets to have an idea what is the typical content
in nowadays big intranets.
Links would by appreciated.

I need to share a window on my Windows 10 PC via VNC (to an Android device). UltraVNC says it can share a single window, but I can't get their VNC server to do this, only the entire Desktop.

Any suggestions for VNC servers that can share a single window?

You need to look in either in the VNC or Android forums. This is not a Windows issue.

I just got all new parts for my computer. My specs are as follows.

Asus 990fx crosshaur formula 5
msi gtx 560 ti twin frozr 2
amd fx-8120 eight core processor
g.skill sniper ddr3 ram 8 gb
Smasung 250 gb hdd hd250hj

I put it all together without a problem. It post and all my hardware is recognized in the bios. But im trying to install windows 7 64 bit and everytime I do the computer reboots itself. The points at where it reboots itself are random as well. Sometimes it reboots right when windows is done loading the files off the disc, sometimes it reboots while starting windows and other time it reboots 30 percent into the actual installation process. I changed out my 560 with my old to gt 240 and disabled my seconday hard drive to make sure it wasn't my psu being overloaded. So I know that's not the problem. Now, the hard drive that im trying to load windows onto is from my old system and is outdated compared to the other components that I have but it is still recognized by my motherboard and windows setup (when im lucky enough to actually get that far) so I don't think that is the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good Afternoon,

I am active duty in the USAF and my squadron has recently stated pushing us to use Microsoft SharePoint more and more. This may be an AF wide trend, not sure; the point is I have no idea what SharePoint is, what it does, how it works, or what capabilities and advantages it might bring to me and my co-workers. I was looking for someone who might be able to answer these questions, and might also be able to discuss some of the disadvantages of SharePoint. I've run into an issue several times when trying to copy an entire share from one server to another. In this case, it happens to be from a Mac to a Windows server (just in case that's relative to the problem). The command I was using is:

robocopy \\MacDASD\Boards \\SRVRWIN78\Boards /S /FFT /XJ /R:1 /W:5 /V /TS /TEE /L

This runs fine, showing all the files and subfolders from the Mac's 'Boards' share that would have been copied. However, once the '/L' is removed to actually run the command I get 'ERROR 2 (0x00000002) Accessing Source Directory \\MacDASD\Boards. Running Robocopy for each of the subfolders under the 'Boards' share, however, works fine. It seems it just can't do the entire share at once. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Robocopying an entire share from server to server gets error 2

A quick search indicates error 2 could be:
- Some Extra files or directories were detected. Examine the output log.
- The system cannot find the file specified.

You could try to increase the retry parameter from /R:1 to a higher value.

I also found this but I don't know if it's correct or not, nor if error, exit codes and errorlevel are equal values:
Note also that bit 0x02 simply indicates that there are files at the destination that are not present at the source. This will happen if the /E switch is used and files have been deleted from the source since a previous copy was taken. It should not happen if the /MIR switch is used because that should delete files at the destination to mirror the source (but I haven't tested this).

A:can i use an ACCESS POINT device to share my files through a network ?

If you have computers on the same local area network (LAN) they can communicate with each other. If you connect the computers to the ACCESS POINT device (I assume this is a wireless access point, or WAP) the computers can file share.

Short description for Windows 7 and 8 file and printer sharing:

Go into the Network and Sharing Center from the Control Panel or from the Network icon in the Notification Area. Your network must be designated 'Private' (or 'Home' or 'Work'). Click on Change advanced sharing settings. In the Private or Home or Work section you can configure File and printer sharing, Public folder sharing, and Password protected sharing.

You may want to change the Workgroup name. To check it or change it right click on "Computer" and select "Properties."

You must uninstall or properly configure any non-windows firewall (security suite).

First let me tell you about my system.   This is an Inspiron
E1705/9400 laptop with the T7400 Core 2 Duo processor running at 2.16
GHZ.   It has 2 GB of RAM and a brand new 500GB Hitachi Travelstar hard
drive (7200 RPM).   It also has the GeForce Go 7900 GS video card.
It previously had Windows XP Professional (32 bit) and worked fine.
But, I have three computers in my home and home office and would like
them all to work better together on my wired home network, so I am
upgrading all three to Windows 7.   My two desktops (one is Dimension
XPS 420 and the other is Dimension XPS 430) seem like they will be no
problem to upgrade to Windows 7.   But, this laptop was not listed on
Dell's Windows 7 Compatibility List.   However, the Windows 7 Upgrade
Advisor that I downloaded and ran seemed to say that it was OK to do a
clean install of 32 bit Windows 7 and it only had a few minor concerns,
where it said to check for updated drivers from the manufacturer.   The
laptop originally came with a 100GB hard drive.   For my use, that is
getting very small, so I decided to get the same exact 7200 RPM drive
in the 500 GB size.   This will allow me to do a clean install of the
32 bit Windows 7 OS on the new hard drive and not have to wipe the old
drive to do it.   I can just hold onto the old HD and stick it back in

I've got a strange problem dealing with a 2012 R2 share.  We have a lab with 30 Windows 7 Enterprise workstations.  They all have the same desktop via a GPO applied folder redirection to a share on the above mentioned 2012 R2 server.  All
but 4 of them can connect and pull the desktop with the appropriate shortcuts, network folders, etc.

So the share permissions have no explicit denies.  In an effort to resolve this issue I've added both Everyone and Authenticated Users with Read permissions on top of the appropriate AD Group object that already had Read permissions and of
course SYSTEM and Domain Admins with Full Control.  The NTFS permissions have of course CREATOR OWNER, SYSTEM, and Domain Admins with Full Control.  The appropriate AD Group also has Read permissions.  No explicit NTFS denies either.

Using either the same account that belongs to the appropriate AD Group or my Domain Admin account (which doesn't have the redirected desktop) I can login to all workstations and all but the above mentioned four get the folder redirected desktop.
When I authenticate with my DA account and try to connect to the share on those four computers I get the same error the user gets:

Network Error

You do not have permission to access \\SERVER\Share$.  Contact your network administrator to request access.

Having difficulty printer from Vista to Windows 7. Canon MP210 is connected via USB to Windows 7 machine. Sharing is on and otherwise functioning. from the Vista machine, I can see the printer but cannot print. I can see all other files shared.

Any help would be great. I know part of the issue is the ".inf" which I cannot get to.

A:Share Printer from Window 7 to Vista

If you can see the printer from Vista then check it's properties and see what the port is. Can you print a selftest from the Win7 machine?

Back to basics:
Remove the printer from Vista.
Check that "Printer and Sharing Service" is installed on both Windows. From "Network and Sharing Center", after clicking "Manage Network Connections" right click on "Local Area Connection" and then click "properties". You should see "Printer and Sharing" listed.

Then in the Network and Sharing Center make sure Printer Sharing is ON in the Win7 machine.

Then click "View Computers and Devices" in the Network and Sharing Center.

Can you even see the other machines? If not reboot and wait a few and try again.

Hey guys, I have been wanting to create a massive offline storage space, something that is connected to a home network where all the devices connected to that network could access those files. Mainly I would like to accomplish this so I can back up all my movies onto my computer so that I can access them from all the devices in my house such as my home desktop, laptop, and ps3 creating a much more easier flowing home entertainment system. What are the best options to do this, as i would like to be able to use multiple 1tb hard drives. I would like to start with 4tb of space and expand from their as I have a lot of information plus well over 500 movies that i would like to upload.I was thinking of doing it all from my home desktop, but that limits how many hard drive i can have due to lack of sata ports. So let me know what you guys think the best way to do this would be.

A:offline share server

Sure, all you need to do is share the drive. Right-click on it in My Computer, select Properties. In the Sharing tab, select Advanced Sharing and give everyone Full Control (or whatever you want).

In the case of a bugged system, is it better to use a restore point or reinstall Vista? I think a reinstallation would be a guaranteed solution versus the restore point because with a restore point the system probably still has the bug, only it's hidden.

A:Recovery via restore point vs. re-installation

In the case of Malware the correct answer depends on many factors. If it is a serious infection such as a root kit, reinstall is the only answer.
If its minor, tracking cookies, etc. If you are sure of the date that the infection was on the machine, you can indeed go back with a system restore to a date before that point.
Now, I based my answer on known facts, as other posters may, too, but its subjective and you may get responses that indicate you should reinstall.
For other problems with the OS, I would suggest a System Restore. YOu should keep them updated, weekly, and also update after every change to the Operating System

A sytem restore take a picture of your Operating System, if you go back in time, that picture is used. If there is a bug it is gone. If the bug is not in the Operating System the problem will remain and you will be forced to take other action, the last being a reinstall.
You can use SFC
Repair Install etc.

At my college we login to our accounts at the school using our email address and passwords. The domain suffix on the email points to which server we are logging into. So typing "*@domainhere.com" will login to the server paired with "domainhere.com". Windows 10 prompts you at login to provide this email and password. When you login, there are 2 drives mounted, one local and one which is on the server so you can login on any computer and have your files accessible, somewhat like a VPN or FTP storage server.

I run a small team of look developers and have a series of render an storage servers. I am interested in setting something like this up but my knowledge of systems management is limited to what I need as a look developer. This is a system often implemented into pipeline systems and version control systems in look development.

I dont expect this is something underwhelmingly easy to do, but I am curious if someone could explain to me what the process might generally be, or where I could look to learn to do it.

A:Can someone point me towards how to make a login server for W10

I'm not sure what you are asking. It sounds like you are logging in to a domain with Active Directory, and that authenticates you to see your files that are shared on a server. As you said, that is so you can log in on any computer in a lab, for example, and have access to your data. That has nothing to do with a VPN or FTP.

You could get a server running Windows Server 2008 R2 or 2012, but it would need to be set up with a new domain. Then, user accounts would need to be created, and those storage server would have to be added to the domain as well, so they could accept connections from those user accounts.

If your school has an IT department, they may be able to set one up for you.

Greetings everyone,

I have a desperate wireless issue that needs to be solved as soon as possible, it never happened before. Recently the wlan at my house suddenly stops working on my Window 7 home premium computer. Surprisingly, when I checked on other devices or types of computer for instance my macbook which I'm using right now works fine with the wlan internet router. I have no idea what's the cause and most importantly the solution to this internet issue. This issue mainly applies just my Window 7 computer. Diagnostics indicates it's an access point error, and I assumes it's correct for now. I tried 3 methods:

1) To delete the network from the "manage wireless networks" options found in control panel, and tried to reconnect it.
2) Restarted my computer.
3) Manually create a profile.

But still no luck at all, as long as I connect to the wlan wireless which I normally use, I can't even make it to the security key screen. It go straights to the dialogue box stating "Unable to connect to wlan-ap".

Any pointers?

Hello I need help. I have been trying to get wireless internet through the use of a lynksys wireless access point. I have an HP laptop using windows XP. I setup the access point using the disk and once I save the configuration, the computer indicates that there is a connection, however I cannot access the internet. The Lynksys support line is not much help and frankly they are quite rude. I am not a computer buff, so I claim some ignorance. If someone could walk me through the process or if someone has had a similar experience and can tell me where I'm getting hung up I would greatly appreciate it.

A:Window XP - linksys wireless access point G trouble

thanks for the new thread. Please describe your internet configuration: cable or DSL or through an office network? If cable or DSL, what kind of modem/router do you have (brand & model) or is the Linksys serving as the router? In other words, is there another piece of equipment between the Linksys and your Internet connection.

You say you get a connection to the Linksys -- if you right-click on the connection icon in the system tray (by the time in the bottom right corner of the screen), then choose Status, then click on the Support tab, does it show an IP Address? If so, what is it and what is the gateway address. If it is or an "autoconfiguration" addres, click the Repair button. What happens?

In general, we need to determine if the connection from the PC to the Linksys is actually functional, and if the Linksys has a connectioni to the Internet.

I have a problem with local shares on a computer running Windows 2003 Enterprise Server. After restarting the server I often times lose the ability to access 2 specific shares, not only from workstations, but from the server itself. I can bring up all available shares through \\localhost\ but receive an access error when I attempt to open the 2 in question. The only temporary solution is to unshare the folder and then to share it again. The 2 folders affected have shares set up for 1 user each in an AD environment. The account I'm using to access the folders locally is a domain admin account. This has become rather bothersome because Outlook PST's for each of these users are located in their respective folders. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are the shares mapped drives? Are quotas in play? What access error are you getting? Also there is 'share permissions' that have to be configured for it to work correctly?

Hi Team,

First i will give you a brief run down of our set-up. We are running a server 2003 AD enviroment (with mainly win xp clients at this point.) but we also have an old server 2000 that is running some file shares.

we have two win 7 laptops within our enviroment (one with the CEO and one with the CFO) and one of them is able to connect to the specific drive. the drive location is a mapped network drive and when he logs into the network he can see the 'map' ie "share on \\server2000" but all the folders have a grey 'x' over them and when he tries to open them he gets a error: "network drive location is not availible"

Am running NT4 Server as a file server in my office. Currently running a web ramp with 3 USR 56k modems for internet access thru my network switch.

I recently added a WinXP Pro client to my LAN. That client has a Direcway 2-way satellite connection thru the USB port. I unplugged the web ramp and enabled ICS on the XP client. Good news...everyone on the LAN could share the connectdion. Bad news...no one can see the file server. If I disable the direcway connection on the client, the server is visible.

Any way to share the internet connection on the XP Client without interfering with file server access?

I am using a VPN connection from my Android phone to my home PC by using the "default" Windows 7 (Ultimate x64) VPN feature. The connection works fine, but when I connect with my phone running Android 2.3.6 to this VPN, I loose the Internet connection on my phone and am only able to access the home LAN. Since the Android client doesn't have much settings to configure in this area, I figured the solution to my problem would be if the VPN server could share it's Internet connection to the VPN.

Please how do I set this up on the server?

I'm looking for a wireless access point that has a printer router built in.

The current system already has a router with switches built in so many computers can already access the internet. The computers that connect on this system will not be networked.

I want to enable wireless access to this system, and connect a printer to it so anyone with wireless access can print to the printer.

Is there a wireless access point that has a printer server built in, or even a router that I can use as an access point?

I've found some older routers with integrated printer servers like Dlink's DI-714P, Netgear's FM114P, SMC's 7000WBR.

Does anyone know if any of them will work as the wireless access point that I can use? Are there any better models?

A:Best wireless access point with printer server

THis may not be the answer but here is a link -

For 17 bucks you can get a wireless print server then add any type of WAP you want. As well I hear from the reviews this handles security pretty well too.

Really need more information to be able to help.
What is the make/model and operating system of each computer?
How are they connected?
Do the compuiters show in each other's Network display?
Can the computers ping each other by IP Address and Computer Name?

This is a general trouble shooting guide for simple problems.

Each computer must have a Unique Name.
Each computer must have at least one user account with a password. Vista will not share with computers that do not.
All the computers must have the same Work Group Name.
File Sharing must be turned on for each computer.
Firewalls must be configured to allow sharing.
To Turn on File Sharing.
For the XP computers go to Control Panel, Network Setup wizard.
Click next.
Click next.
If you are running wireless, the ethernet card will be listed. If connected by ethernet and you have a wireless card it will be listed.
For right now, just select "Ignore the listed connections".
Click next.
Select "This computer connects to the internet by a residential gateway".
Click next.
Enter the Work Group name.
Click next.
Select "Turn on File and printer Sharing"
Click next.
Verify all the information is correct.
Click next.
I would select "Just finish the wizard" and not make a disc. It take about the same amount of time to run the disc as to manually enter the data.
Click next.
Click finish.

Not sure where to enter the Work Group Name on Vista. Been a couple of years and my ... Read more
