I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi, I have a P50 recently updated Windows 10 Fall creators update. After the update my system no longer shows my wwan hardware (Sierra Wireless EM7455).I no longer have a cellular connection option in the network menu after clicking the network icon in taskbar tray,no cellular connection section in the networking settingsNo wwan device in Device Manager under Network AdaptersNo cellular connection shown in the Network Connections control panel under Network and Internet. What does show up in device manager is a 'Sierra Wireless Location Sensor' under the Sensors category.I did try to install the Sierra Wireless softwar from here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/postpage/board-id/tp07_en. But it didn't help.I do not know if any of this has to do with the recent update on Windows 10 but if anyone else has experienced this please share your situation and solution if any.Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

Hi, as per topic title, the WWAN is not working outside my country. I have a local (national) operator's SIM card and all is ok while using cellular in my country (Slovenia). If I go abroad, I get "NO SERVICE". Now, the SIM card is definitely ok, works in other laptops etc. Just not in my X1 yoga.  Turning ROAMING on or off in Windows 10 /x64 does not make any change. As if the EM7455 is locked for roaming or what? Any idea what I can do before I take the laptop back for warranty claim?ThanksBostjan

I am installing an EM7455 WWAN card in my P70. The User Guide states that the SIM used by the system is a Micro-card. When I called Verizon Wireless to obtain a 4G-LTE card, they could not find the P70 in their database. However, they said they knew the size and shipped me a SIM card. Unfortunately, it was the incorrect SIM-card size (apparently there are multiple) so I have to obtain the correct card from a Verizon store when the WWAN arrives from China. The model number of the card needs to end in 3FF-A. It would have been really convenient if the Verizon SIM card was orderable on the Lenovo website at the same time as I ordered the EM7455 from the Accessories storefront.

Hello.I just received my X1 Carbon gen. 4 laptop with a factory installed Sierra Wireless EM7455 WWAN card and provisioned with Windows 7.  Unfortunately, I have a very persistent and annoying problem. Almost every time it resumes from hibernate mode the WWAN card device fails to restart---the Sierra Wireless EM7455 Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A QDLoader Port has an error: "This device cannot start. (code 10)" as reported by the Device Manager. I have updated the drivers to the latest version  on the support site (version 7.26.4539.0105 of the Sierra Wireless Lenovo Mobile Broadband Driver Package/Device driver version 16.3.1005.41) Any thoughts?

After a very unfortunately repair in my X1 yoga (only 18 months old but suffered 4 onsite repairs with the only result that two LCD screen were broken, hinges not working and battery not able to work on a reliable manner), I decided to move to a X1 Carbon 5th Generation. Info regarding the new laptop:- 20HRCTO1WW- Received on january 4th 2018 (should have been produced in the last week of 12/2017), directly shipped from PRC-WWAN: Sierra 7455 ISSUE:1) tried to insert the MICRO-SIM I had on my the X1 Yoga. It was not recognized, in fact it is still showing "Insert SIM"2) Tried the MICRO-SIM again on my X1 Yoga: it works fine. I just finished retrofitting WWAN antennae to my X1 Yoga OLED 2nd generation (what a job!). On eBay I scored two Lenovo EM7455 M.2 wwan cards:01AX746WIRELESS WAN ADAPTERS  FRU Sierra EM7455 WWAN Module Rel16. and:01AX748WIRELESS WAN ADAPTERS  FRU Sierra EM7455 WWAN Module Raven2 I know both of these are compatible with my x1 yoga 2nd generation. But is one better / newer than the other?  Related question: the older Lenovo versions of the the em7455 do not work in the newer machines (x470 / x1 yoga 2nd). But is the converse true, that the newer em7455 revisions will not work in the older machines (x1 yoga 1st Gen for instance)? If someone confirms the newer cards work in the older machines I may put one of these two in my other x1 yoga (1st Gen). Thanks any info.

I bought two brand new X270's WWAN upgradable and bought EM7455 cards separately. I installed the cards as directed. When I booted the laptop the first time after installation, a warning message saying something to the effect of "unknown network hardware EM7455." Windows didn't detect the newly installed card. So I did a CMOS reset (removed the extra battery, disabled the built-in battery on the BIOS and pressed the CMOS reset button to the left of the battery bay). After the CMOS reset, Windows recoginized a new hardware by the name of "Sierra Wireless EM7455 Qualcomm" but couldn't install the driver (see the attached screenshot). I did install Lenovo's EM7455 driver (total file size 191MB) and didn't work. I turned to Sierra and found a generic USB Build 4581 driver and it didn't work. When I restarted Windows, the newly found hardware was gone. I did a CMOS reset again and it came back up on the device manager list.  So I turned to Windows update. It found a driver update by the name of Sierra Incorporated - Ports dated 10/20/2016. It tried to install it but it failed. However, the device's name was changed to Qualcomm COM Port (3) and it was still not installed properly. I went to the device's properties and changed the port to 8. It recognized the full name of the card but GPRS connecitons on Windows didn't show up. Has anybody else seen this or can you recreate the problem? The Sierra Wireless EM7455 LTE card keeps crashing the PC.  But exactly as follows..... You are connected to the internet using the EM7455.  You sleep the PC while connected.  You wake the PC.  EM7455 cannot connect again.  EM7455 is also lost from Device Manager.  A scan for new hardware just hangs and freezes the Device Manager window.  The only option is to restart the PC.  BUT...if you sleep or hibernate at this point (instead of restart) the PC crashes with BSOD (ntoskrnl.exe error).  This happens every time, without exception.  All the drivers are the latest, currently 7.44.4709.0102.  Firmware is 2.24.03.  I tried to upgrade to 2.24.05 from Sierra Wireless but it keeps reverting to 2.24.03 (must be a Lenovo OEM things that prevents the update).  Any ideas?  (apart from disconnecting before sleep!) Thanks

I recently installed an EM7455 LTE modem (FRU 00JT542) and antenna kit (FRU 01AW958) in my X1 Yoga running Windows 10 Pro.Drivers installed fine and I have nothing unidentified in Device Manager, and "Cellular" exists in the networking panel (when you click on the network icon in the taskbar). However, none of my SIM cards are being detected by the system. I've tried T-Mobile and Verizon SIM cards (both verified working in other devices) to no avail -- Windows keeps telling me to insert a SIM.I spent all afternoon on the phone with half a dozen Lenovo support reps (and have a ticket open with them) but we haven't made any headway yet. Here are some things we tried:Different Windows 10 installations (the original image on the supplied SSD vs. the one I created and have been using on my 950 Pro): no effectThe Windows 7 Mobile Broadband Activation tool: errorVarious Gobi 5000 Drivers: no effectUpdating UEFI: no effectWindows Troubleshooting: uselessI'm beginning to think it may be a hardware issue with the SIM slot but the reps haven't been willing to admit as much. In addition, I only have the depot warranty which I've heard atrocious things about, so I'd like to avoid that. I was also informed that they don't allow self-replacement of system boards so worst case I'll have to shell out for an onsite warranty.I'll take any suggestions -- even if they're shots in the dark!

We have a number of X1 Yoga 2nd Gen (20JG) w/ EM7455 LTE cards. We have updated all drivers on some machines but we continue to have issues w/ the card at time dropping connectivity to LTE and it not returning until a reboot or a disable/enable of the LTE card. When the connectivity hangs you are unable to ping any IP addresses. This occurs randomly but is seen within an hour of waking up from a sleep.  Lastest driver as of July 29, 2019 has helped some but not fixed the problem. We have tested newer firmware version for Verizon but in those cases when the connectivity issues happen the entire card resets itself losing connectivity anyway. We have tested on Windows 10 1803 and 1903 w/ similar results. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi I resently got a Thinkpad x1 yoga gen 2Type 20JE-S1C600S/N R9-0NGFRQ 17/05 As far as I know there should be a Sierra Wireless EM7455 modem in the machine, but i can't get windows to detect it. I doesn't show up in device manager, or in the network setting of windows. It is running Windows 10 Home. 64bit. In bios I can enable or disable WWAN (under security > IO ..), not sure if that means there is a modem, or just a setting thats always there in the bios. There is a slot in the back of the machine for a SIM card, but not sure if that means there is a moden in the machine, or the slot is always there.  I Tried reinstalling the machine, but didn't help.I've made sure there is no pending updates for the machine.   1. Can you guys help confirm if there is a modem in the machine. (If not, then the seller lied to me)2. If there is, how do I get it working ? I did put a SIM card in the SIM slot in the back of the macine. I'm pretty sure it is currectly inserted. There is only one direction where I hear a small click, and the card stays in place.  Thanks Simon

I have a model with WWAN card and a solderen-on RAM. I would like to replace the SSD with Intel Optane to speed things up anc compensate for lack of RAM, and add a normal 2nd SSD in WWAN port. Here's a photo of the port:It has the "B" key (6 pins on one side), so I am not sure if PCI is routed or not. I have tried to insert some old 32GB SATA drives and they were not detected by windows. Now, according to this (image) and some traces on the board, it actually has SATA lanes connected. Also, according to this, it should support both SATA and PCIe x2: So why does it not work? Is there a white list of some sort in the BIOS? If so, is it still possible to hack like on those old T40?

I purchased my Yoga 260 ThinkPad (i5) in December '15 from IBM website (USA).  Spoke with terchnical sale prior to purchase to verify that the unit had WWAN capability as stated in the many marketing releases.  I was told that it was LTE capable and Lenovo was waiting for the WWAN card availability.  About a month later I called to check on status of availability.  No specific date was given, BUT I was given an FRU # for WWAN card (00JT542) specific to my Yoga 260 model # (provided my exact model # to technical assistance).  I then ordered the card from IBM Parts online.  The initial ETA was February '16.  Finally arrived in June '16.  The arriving part was a  "Sierra Wireless Airprime  Model: EM7455"  Qualcomm card.  Just yesterday I went to install the card following instructions in the Yoga 260 Thinkpad user guide.  The SIM card slot/tray is functional and the WWAN fits nicely in the chassis (no holding screw though).  However, there are no attenae connections.  The integrated LTE functionality was the compelling reason for my purchase.  Of course there are other work arounds to get LTE, but had I known the unit wasn't capable with the integrated card, I would not have purchased it.   I'm not sure where to start to get response/accommodation from IBM.  Does anyone else have similar situation and/or suggestions on how to ... The user guides are generic and cover all possible system configurations, the same applies to harware maintenance manuals, and may feature options which are not present on your particular system.

The early Yoga 260s were not equipped with WWAN or WWAN antennae because at that time no international agency approvals had been received for the transmit and receive functions. Systems which are agency qualified may have WWAN integrated at the factory or be WWAN ready with factory installed antennae but no WWAN module.

Hello, I am planning to get the X1 Yoga 3rd gen with the HDR screen, however, it seems the wwan is out of stock for it. So I am curious if I could just order the wwan separately and install it later, or, when can I expect wwan to be available with hdr? Thanks

Hello,After purchase my Thinkpad Yoga 260 I've tried to connect with a 3g operator through the side slot (wich costed me an extra) just to discover that my laptop doesn't have a WWAN module. Now I need to know if my laptop as the possibility to add one (wich I hope so because it was one of the main reason why i bought it) anyone knows how to? Anyway it's very hard to me to understand why give me the choice to assembly it with the slot if there's no way to use it.

Are the current models for sale on the Lenovo web site "WWAN Ready"? By that I mean do they include the SIM card slot and WWAN antenna and are just missing the WWAN modem card? I am interesed in buying one now and then adding the WWAN card later. Thank you.

Is the WWAN slot on the side of my new Thinkpad Yoga 15 just for show?  I cannot seem to find out anything.  What kind of SIM card does it take?  What carriers would support it?  What would I tell a cellular carrier I need in order to buy service and plug a SIM card into it.  There seemto be as many SIM card types as there are snowflakes.   What is my IMEI number?  How do I find it?  I know I sound like a dweeb, but I'm really interested in being able to use this feature if in fact it is not just for show.  It would be SO nice to have anywhere cellular service when I travel.

A:WWAN on Thinkpad Yoga 15

Hello and welcome,

Not all TP Yogas have WWAN capability.  Most laptops and convertibles have a SIM slot since that's part of the basic structure of the machine but it doesn't necessarily mean there's a WWAN card installed.

What's your MT-M (machine type-model)?  It will look something like 20DQ007YUS - an example which doesn't have a WWAN card installed.

So the X1 3rd gen is now availble in the US.  The description talks about optional LTE-A connectivity.  However, the specs...even all the way up to HDR 1tb 16gb unit only talk about WLAN AC and BT connectivity. Can anyone confirm if the LTE-A chips are on ANY of the 3rd Gens?   Ready to pull the trigger, but, LTE-A is a must for travel purposes. Thanks!

Hello everyone, Just ordered an X1 Yoga with the OLED display and didn't see an option for WWAN or NFC cards on configuration although I see WWAN as an option on the model without OLED.  Is there a reason for this?  Can I add the antenna kit and card later?  Same question for NFC although I didn't see NFC as an option on either model. Thanks.

A:X1 Yoga OLED WWAN/NFC Questions

For unknown reasons, Lenovo appear to have stopped selling NFC on all X1 Yogas. The parts are still available from Lenovo Parts. The NFC antenna and NFC card are relatively cheap. The cable required to connect the NFC card to the motherboard is only available as part of a kit that is rather expensive - so if that cable is missing, it will not be a cheap upgrade. Previous posts on the forum suggest that Lenovo do not support WWAN or WiGig on the OLED version of the X1 Yoga. It is unclear whether this is a physical limitation (no room for the antennas) or a regulatory issue (unwillingness to qualify the OLED version for WWAN and WiGig). I would proceed on the basis that there is no way to add WWAN or WiGig to an OLED X1 Yoga.

hi, going by all the forums i came to know the sim card slot is not installed in the laptop. so kindly guide me where can i buy the simcard driver and install it. laptop : yoga 370 thinkpad 20JJ series.

A:where to buy the wwan for yoga 370 20JJ SERIES

If your Yoga wasn't shipped with LTE Modem, then you need more parts:- FRU: 01HY498 - SIM Card Tray.- FRU: 01HY235 - WWAN antenna kit.- FRU: 01AX746 - Sierra Wireless EM7455 LTE Modem. Apart from modem itself, rest of parts won't be easy to get. I would advice to contact with official service center and ask, if they could sell these parts.  Moreover please check thread below for more advices:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Yoga-370-WWAN-Antenna-retrofit/td-p/388...
