I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all, My T480 (20L5) does not resume from sleep with the AC adapter plugged in on BIOS 1.17. The issue occurs both when resuming using the lid or the power button. Upon unplugging the AC adapter, the computer instantly resumes from sleep. The issue is resolved by reverting to BIOS 1.16. Issue occurs both in Windows 10 and in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (kernel ver. 4.15.0).

Hello, I just bought a new Lenovo Thinkpad t480 and the second battery didn't charge at all. I tried out something that the tech support forum here told me to do and now both batteries aren't charging instead. I heard it might have something to do with Windows 10. Need help if I can get it settled before having to send the computer to the repair shop bc I can't afford 2 weeks without it right now.

Hi All,  My '21 days old' ThinkPad T480 - Top of the line machine warms up at the top-left section of the keyboard, just above the vents!   I'm not sure what needs to be done. I raised a complain with the Lenovo Support and the technician who paid a visit today, apparently was ready to replace the motherboard, because he thought that I reported a heating issue with my machine. But that wasn't the case. I'm surprised though that they were ready to replace my machine with a new mother board, without knowing the exact issue.  Any ways, so all he did was replace the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU, I was okay with that, as I read in many forums that replacing the thermal paste helped reduce the heating issues.  Its only now that I'm starting to realize, that I don't think its more of a heating issue, but a SERIOUS design flaw in T480 machines.  The top-left edge portion of the keyboard that which is just above the vents, seems to start warming up within 30 mins of NORMAL usage. I don't see the fan doing its job either, may be its suppose to speed up at very high temps, irrespective, what I think is the problem is that the fan case that is connected to the vents, for some reason the casing touches the vents plastic body and that's transferring the warmness up to the place where ones left palm would naturally rest while typing.    It warms up to the extent that I can feel its not comfortable for me to ... According to https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/docksSearch/ the Lenovo T480 20L6 laptop is compatible with the ThinkPad Ultra Docking Station. However the docking station uses an entirely different power supply than the laptop (the old blocky rectangular one vs the newer mini rounded rectangle). The laptop itself fits on the docking station, but does not charge despite the docking station being plugged in. There are two connector slots on the dock that appear to be for the newer power supply, however neither of those provide power either. Is the docking station incorrectly listed as compatible when it really isn't, is there a hardware malfunction, or something else entirely?

My laptop is Thinkpad T480, core i 7, 32GB RAM with Nvidia and 1 TB SSD. Initially I have Dolby Digital Advanced Audio(DDAA) Profile Editor as desktop short-cut ( the editor has a graphic equalizer which can be edited). But after the windows Update, the DDAA profile editor has been disspaeared. I uninstall the audio driver, restart and then again install Audio driver from Lenovo website but the editor did not appear. Even in the C drive , I tried to retrieve but failed. Then I go to Lenovo VANTAGE app and found this. Here, the mode can be changed but there is no graphical equalizer like DDAA editor. What's is the solution of this problem?

Yesterday, I accidently droped just little water on the keyboard. It remained working for a while before the whole keyboard froze and stopped working at all, the strange thing was the beeping that the laptop keeps doing on one second interval, it does not stop beeping unless you press the shut down. The strange thing is that the laptop all working except the keyboard, and this beeping every second that never stops. It is like a blood rate device voice that you hear at the ICU if you are sitting beside a patient. My question is there a way to avoid replacing the keyboard as it seems it is a keyboard issue if I am not wrong? Or should I try to open it and dry it in some way then connect it again and see if this beeps goes and if the keyboard returns to life again? Thank you for the help.

Hi, I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X201 laptop with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit factory installed. Due to some major problems with the USB-drivers, I want to do a fresh Windows 7 installation, but in a different way. I've created a new partition on the harddrive, and I would like to install Windows on that new partition, so there are 2 Windows installations on 2 different partitions, and then transfer the data between the partitions, and install the programs over time, and then finally delete the old installation, when I've finished setting up the new installation with programs and data. My questions is now:1. Is it possible to do that, and how do I do it?2. I want to do a original Windows OEM installation, with the Lenovo drivers and all that, but what do I need to do that?3. Will the product key on the computer work on both installations at the same time, when they are on 2 different partitions, but on the same computer? Best regards:Aksel Christoffersen

Hi, I"m using a T480 with Windows Hello / face recognition, but it works very unreliable. And I am not referring to the quality of recognition, but the operation itself. After a reboot, I can see the IR LEDs blinking, so I know the camera is in operation and it works perfectly.after a while (Don't know what exactly is needed to reproduce, perhaps some sleep/hibernate cycles), the IR LEDs and the camera are simply not activated on the sign in screen. Fingerprint Auth works, however, there were some cases when fingerprint also refused to work in such cases. Inside windows, I have seen several times the Window Camera Frame server taking too much CPU and  I thought it might be related, so I disabled this service. It did not change anything - Face recognition still worked for some time, and then it stopped again. I suspect this could be some driver issue. Anyone else facing such problems? Any ideas, hints? Thanks

Aryeh,

Perhaps you'd be willing to comment on a hardware issue.
I also recently replaced my wife's desktop PC (which I built!) with a Thinkpad T480 that we planned to link with a Thinkpad Basic docking Station (L440?). She has an old, Samsung SyncMaster 214T monitor that required (per our Lenovo salesperson) a DVI ot Display Port cable, which I purchased and connected. Of course, the docked laptop won't recognize the presence of the SuncMaster monitor suggesting the cable may be a problem. It's a standard DisplayPort Male to DVI-I Male Adapter Cable (6 ft). Any thoughts?

I recently ordered a T480s that has Windows 10 on an NVMe drive, and I separately ordered a Toshiba RC100 NVMe hoping to put it in the WWAN slot and install FreeBSD on it. Unfortunately, it seems that the Lenovo BIOS doesn't allow booting from the WWAN slot.So I'm thinking that the only option left is chainloading the WWAN slot. I spent some time trying to install GRUB on the Windows drive, but the Ubuntu LiveUSB I tried to do that with didn't seem to have the necessary files without fully installing Ubuntu, the FreeBSD LiveUSB seems unable to mount any drives or partitions (it claims "no such file or directory" even though I can see them with ls), and I can't find anything that promises to do exactly what I want from Windows. I found one thing that I thought was going to work until I found out it was for installing GRUB on the secondary drive, and Grub2Win, but I couldn't find any specific mention of Grub2Win being used to boot FreeBSD (or any BSD), so I was unsure. Edit: I forgot to mention that I also tried the Plop boot manager, but it couldn't detect the new NVMe drive either (or even Windows). If anyone could provide advice, that would be very much appreciated!

Hello, We have an Thinkpad X1 Carbon 2nd Gen (20A7, 20A8) Windows 10 x64 and the computer performance slowed down since we updated the system with Lenovo utility, the most relevant update is BIOS update us 1.31.1.19. The CPU usage increases from 5% to 9x% with no reason and its continiously increasing and decreasing without opened applications, we also installed Intel IO updates. Somebody have the same situation or knows how to fix it? Thanks,Regards

A:Thinkpad X1 Carbon 2nd Gen slow performance after installing Lenovo updates

That is the reason why I always going to see forums of new updates, those updates are like beta, with bugs and other things that cost us to waiste our time fixing it and getting stressed.I got critical update about bios, but as my performance is great I don't updating anything. My answer would be, to backup your bios version, it will get things back to work properly. And for future just don't install anything, after installing it cost problems.Yesterday I wanted to download program, yeah downloaded virus too, rofl, internet is full of virus, so technical supports could make more money ( if you can't fix yourself)

Hello,Let me start off and say that I own a Lenovo T410, T420, T430, T480 and several other machines, and I am very familiar with these devices, and my primary operating systems are Windows 7 and OpenSUSE linux OS. As required by my employer, I bought a new laptop, Lenovo T480 which came with W10Pro (cannot downgrade) and installed an OpenSUSE KDE. In the beginning the T480 on W10 worked smoothly, but after one of the automatic updates, my sound system isn't working properly anymore. Before the update, I could have a dual channel sound output meaning, on W7 I could use "Realtek Audio Manager" to choose that I will have different volume setting for: 1. Machine speakers.2. Headphones if/when plugged in. This would prevent my laptop for blasting sound to the room through the speakers if I accidentally unplugged the headphone. This is a crucial feature to me as I am often connected to a meeting and I sometimes like to listen to music while working. This feature is gone. I have it working on the linux side, it is definitely driver/OS problem, not hardware. First, Lenovo T480 +W10 never came with realtek audio manager support.Second, I cannot download it seperately, and I somewhat get a buggy "resolution" if I downgrade where the mute button sticks. I am wondering if someone was able to solve this.Thank you for your time.-SJLPHI

Either way will work. You can install Ultimate without SP1 and then add SP1 or you can install directly to Ultimate SP1 if you have that.

There's usually no big benefit from upgrading to 64 bit if you have only 4 GB of RAM, but it certainly works fine.

If Lenovo tech support didn't suggest returning the laptop, I would venture to guess there are no hardware issues. If that is the case, I would wait for the disk from Lenovo and call them for support after receiving the disk and before doing the new installation of the OS.

I know much has been written and discussed regarding this topic but I'm pretty sure that I've tried most if not all of the recommended solutions and still can't get SP1 to install on my Dell Latitude E6400 laptop. Here's a little background.
This computer is joined to a domain network both most if not all the attempts have been done using a local Admin account and ran with elevated privileges to possibly rule out permission issues.

Each time the SP1 installed appears to go all the way through without issue and reboots, says configuring updates step ...then goes to reverting updates and upon logon says something like "update was uncesssful" and click details for more and shows some two word reason code like "Internal error 0x....".
I will get a screenshot of exact message if needed but I research it along with event log message and no good clues.

1. Uninstall All security software
2. ran and cleaned any malware, PUPS (was infected before but should be very clean now)
3. ran sfc /scannow
4. multiple runs of SURT (CBS folder compressed and attached)
5. Windows update replacement package..packs.zip file (Windows 7 Service Pack 1 not installing)

UPDATE: The failed error message is Internal Error Error 0x8007054f

A:Windows 7-32bit Pro Service pack 1 not installing..

first; one thing you could try is doing a system restore to a point back to where you know that windows update was working for ya; i would try this first since this is a relatively simple thing to do. Click start, programs, accessories, system tools, then system restore and find a restore point back to where you know it was working the way its suppose to and see what happens. Post back if it doesnt and we can take it from there.

Hello and welcome,

The SSD you list is a SATA device.  The WWAN/SSD slot is described in the base spec as PCIe - and doesn't mention SATA.  It may be that SATA devices are not supported in that slot.

So, I faced this problem 2 years ago, yet, I can't solve it.

A few years back, I've got a new Toshiba Satellite C850-B797 laptop. It came with Windows 7 64-bit, few months later I forced to format it and install a new Windows; However, since that time, I'm locked out of ANY 64-bit version of Win.

Though, ANY 32-bit version of Win will install without problem (WHY??).

The error code is 0x80070570
I've searched the internet and even did my personal research, but with no luck.

It just stops at 17% while installing, and gives that error.

What I've tried:
- Installing from 4 different USB sticks. (Couldn't use CD/DVD, the driver isn't functional).
- Trying different USB ports both 3.0 and 2.0
- Trying different SATA modes, both IDE and AHCI.
- Swapping out and removing the RAMs.
- Wiping out the HDD many times even with dban.
- Trying many ISOs and different Windows versions (7, 8, and 10).

Out of all of that, 32-bit installs perfectly, but 64-bit is NOT.

Why? What is the problem?
Thanks in advance for any kind of help.

I currently want to upgrade from Win XP to Win 10.

At start up of the PC, the Bios loads up, the USB devices or DVD's are detected and I can see the blue Win 10 logo. After a couple of min (I'm guessing after copying files onto the hard drive) the PC restarts, and the same thing happens all over again.
When I wait until the PC restarts and quickly disconnect or remove the DVD before the BIOS loads, all I get is
"Press F1 for reboot, F2 for start up utility."

I have downloaded several Win 32 Windows versions I was able to find. I burned the ISO onto DVD's, created USB bootable sticks and USB bootable Hard drives with Rufus 2.9. Windows 7 creation tool did not work either.

I have changed the Hard disk drive sequence, USB device first, Systems Bios boot devices second and vice versa.

I also have 3 hard drives, two SATA and one IDE.
Fastboot OFF
I have also disabled the two sata drives, enabled only the IDE, same thing.
Primary Sata enabled and Secondary SATA and IDE disabled, same thing.

The PC just restarts no matter what I do without proceeding with the installation. What am I doing wrong, or what am I missing? Suggestions?

You can't upgrade from Win XP. You can only do a clean install with a new purchase of W10. There is no upgrade path from XP to W10.

Okay, so I decided to buy cheap used laptop before I really checked it out. Trusted a freind...

It has Ubuntu operating system ... I bought a BRANDNEW Windows 7 disc from my college ($7.50 + tax for a student!!!)

I put in Win7 disc - tapped F12 - chose "CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive" for the desired boot device.

It says something like "press any key to...." - but whether or not I press any key, it goes from that screen straight into loading "Ubullpoop"... i mean Ubuntu....

Any help???????????!!!!!!!

Welcome to the Windows forums greaterthings.

Are you sure that the brandnew windows 7 disk is bootable and not an upgrade disk?

Normally I touch the space bar when the boot from cd rom line comes up with a bootable cd/dvd in the rom drive.

This is what i have got after upgrading ram and HDD on my TOSHIBA L30-149.

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
win32k.sys

PAGE_FAULT_INNONPAGED_AREA

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced Startup options, and then select safe mode.

Technical Information:

***STOP: 0x00000050 (0xF7910012, 0x00000000, 0x905C6C2D, 0x00000002)

A:Error 0x80070570 when installing ANY 32bit version of Windows

Stupid me....
The title says: "Error 0x80070570 when installing ANY 32bit version of Windows"
But my problem is with 64bit

Just changed it now.

Note: if you are still confused, my real problem is with 64bit versions.
The correct title is: "Error 0x80070570 when installing ANY 64bit version of Windows"

Dear Lenovo Community, I got my brand new ThinkPad T480 laptop with i5 8350, win 10 pro & Nvidia mx150 dedicated graphics card 10 days ago. From the past 3 days, My laptop started rebooting without notice. I lost about 800 lines of my code during one of these random reboots. There is no blue screen error before the laptop restarts. Nor is there any abnormal program behaviour. It just restarts... I have the windows version 1803 installed on my laptop. I updated the windows version & the drivers through Lenovo vantage app, however, the problem persists.Only a week into my ownership I experienced these issues. Now I am afraid this laptop will give up during my coding or my work & I have stopped using this. I have contacted the tech support & they have suggested I apply for a return. I do not want a return. I have been using Thinkpads for the past 5 years & they have never failed me. I don't want one bad experience to ruin my brand loyalty. What should my next steps be here? I am very much not interested in getting things repaired here as I will always fear this machine rebooting on me. I understand that any computer may fail. However, I find it hard to believe something as robust & reliable as the T480 would fail in the first week of ownership. I haven't been running any unsafe programs and my antivirus is up to date. Thank in advance
