Drivers not compatible with Win7 (Asus A5e)

Q: Drivers not compatible with Win7 (Asus A5e)

Hi! My computer is an older Asus notebook. Because of that the drivers are old too and i cant find any. Even if i use windows update utilitys and so on, for searching for drivers, it will find just a few.

But other important drivers, like audio drivers and so on, are hard to find.

I used a free trial of "Driver Whiz" but will not find any new drivers for my computer too.

Does that mean that my computer will not work properly on Win7? Does that mean that it would be better to install XP again?

My computer is a Asus A5e.
Thanks for any insights on this.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Apparently, this issue has been mentioned here previously. See,

Asus EEE PC1000H + Card Reader Driver

Generally, I am not concerned with my SD card reader as the OP of the above thread was yet, I am concerned regarding the need for appropriate drivers. So far, the Win7 install behaves well with the lone exception of an odd display of two rows of four tabs of Chrome when I attempted to return to my browsers home page yesterday following the install. Every use of Chrome since this lone bad example has been fine. The Intel 945 (?) chipset driver was upgraded after the install was completed.

I did not activate my Win7 during install so, I have 30 days to do so. My WEI is 2.2 in view of the Atom N270 but, the response of the OS is good because, I coupled the Win7 with a Samsung 840 PRO 256 Gb SSD.

I contacted ASUS regarding use and compatibility of the XP drivers that remain available for the 1000H but, this sounds like a lost cause.

Any advise?

I plan to buy a new notebook with pre-installed Windows 8

I don't want to use Windows 8 but use Windows 7 instead.

Can I remove Windows 8, then install Windows 7 and use the drivers from Windows 8?

A:Are Win7 drivers compatible with those of Win 8 ?

Maybe, if they list windows 7 drivers I would use them. I've installed Windows 7 and Windows 8 on my two desktop PC's that have ASUS motherboards and a lot of the drivers are the same for Windows 7 and 8. They will say compatible with Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8 x64 in the description and you will get the exact same download regardless of which OS you select. My new laptop came with Windows 8 but also lists Windows 7 drivers in its downloads. Before you buy just go to the support page for the one you plan to buy and see if there are Windows 7 drivers available for it. If they are dedicated Windows 8 drivers they may not install, you'll get a this OS not supported or something similar message. You could also Google that model to see if anyone tried the OS swap and ran into problems.

All the Windows 7 drivers for my gigabyte GAZ77X UD5H motherboard and the ASUS drivers for an ASUS Z77 chipset motherboard work with Windows 8. I haven't come across any problems with several installations.

I've also checked/updated the Intel devices on the motherboard at Intel and the drivers that they have for my hardware are for both Win 7 64 bit and Win 8 64 bit.

You should be able to roll back the driver to the previous driver by right clicking on Computer and going to Manage. When there, go to Device Manager and highlight the Nvidia component, which should be the display adapter. Right click and click on properties. You should be able to roll it back from here.

Hello,This has been mentioned before in these forums and elsewhere on the web.  The Windows 7 Compatibility Center says that the Promise Ultra 133/TX2 is compatible with Windows 7 64-bit (and 32-bit):http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Details.aspx?type=Hardware&p=Promise%20Technology%2cInc.%20Promise%20Ultra%20133%20TX2%20ATA-133%20PCI%2066%20MHz%20Internal%20Hard%20Drive&v=Promise%20Technology%2cInc.&uid=&pf=0&pi=0&s=promise%20ultra&os=64-bitHowever, Promise's driver page still only has the Vista driver as the latest available:http://www.promise.com/support/download/download2_eng.asp?productId=87&category=driver&os=0&go=GOI tried contacting Promise on several occasions but they don't respond.  I'm wondering if anyone here has had any luck in getting this card to work under Windows 7?I tried the Vista drivers, but the device manager just reports "This device cannot start. We are working with the device manufacture to confirm this product's compatibility."May be the website was updated recently. From the manufacture's webside, it is true the latest driver was released in the year 2007. Given this, you can try download Ultra 133 TX2 Windows driver for Vista and install it in Compatible mode as follows:1. Download the driver and extract it to hard drive. Right-click the exe. file and choose Properties.2. Under the Compatibility tab, please check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and choose "Windows Vista".3. The audio on my Asus P5E3 DELUXE/WiFi-AP motherboard does not appear to work. Windows 7 says that there is no audio output device installed. As such, when I plug my speakers in I get no sound and the sound icon in the notification area continues to display a red circle with an "x".

The High Definition Audio Controller is installed under Device Manager and appears to be normal. However, it is listed under System Devices. There is no listing for Sound, Video, & Game Controllers (I am not sure if this is applicable to Win7). I have disabled and re-enabled the audio controller. I have uninstalled it and let Windows reinstall it. All to no avail. For what it's worth, the controller appears to be using a standard Microsoft driver.

System info says that no sound devices are installed.

I have verified (multiple times) that onboard audio is enabled in the BIOS. I have tried disabling the audio in the BIOS, booting, into Windows shutting down, and then re-enabling the onboard audio. No go.

I have attempted to reinstall the Soundmax drivers from ASUS. They don't install. I receive an error message saying that the audio driver files do not support my hardware. I am sure that I am trying to install the correct drivers.

There is no software installed that would be interfering with the audio and all services look normal.

Any ideas?

I think I'm going out of my mind here, the HDD on my brothers laptop gave up yesterday, today we bought a new HDD and installed it. DVD didn't work, created a USB install stick with Windows 7 Home Premium x64 on, the same as the factory OS and tried to install, got the error in title which I'm fairly used to but this time I cannot figure out how to solve it.

When I browse for drivers during install I'm able to see the HDD there, and in BIOS.

Model: Asus X53SD-SX417
Chipset: Mobile Intel? HM65 Express Chipset (Intel? 6, C200 Series)
HDD: WD Blue, WD5000LP
Year of production: 2011

What I have tried:
Checked the new HDD in my own machine, works fine, no issues.
Switching between IDE and AHCI in BIOS.
Resetting CMOS
Downloaded drivers (AHCI, RAID) and installing them during installation
Even tried not to chose any other language then default

I'm in a real bind here and I really want to help my brother, please help!

So I recently just replaced my Asus P6X58-E WS with another Asus P6X58-E WS from Amazon. I always remember hearing to ignore the drivers disk on CD that comes with product and go straight to web-sight and gather latest. (I ALWAYS keep CD for just in case moments) When I was running Win7 last year on old MB, this was never a issue and downloaded drivers from Asus web site, but when I recently went to the Asus drivers download site, there are no options for win8? (Screen Shot Below)
Here Is my problem... After Installing new MB and testing OS operations with only my SSD pluged in (OS win8 is on SSD) everything was working great!! this also confirmed a few of my last MB memory slots were fried because I had 18GB of memory installed but BIOS & OS was telling me I had only 6GB.. Im back @ 18GB now...
I also had QTY6 1TB-HDD I was using with previous MB ( No raid configurations) I record music and many project files can get very big so, each HDD was dedicated to different "IMPORTANT" things. Well, after confirming OS win8 was in working order, I powered down and plugged in all 6 HDD, then powered back up. (I wish I would have done this one HDD at a time now) only 2 are being recognized!!! I keep getting the message....
"you must initialize a disk before logical disk manager can access it"
Now, from what I've gathered from a Google search, this is what you would do to format a NEW hard drive, Correct? I then was reading its as simple as downloading lates... Read more

A:NEW!! Asus P6X58-E WS MB. No Win8 Drivers on Asus website?

From what I found on the Asus site....
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P6X58-E WS
They are only providing drivers up to Windows 7 64 Bit. You can go to the file manager and click one time on the primary HDD and then click computer tab and from there click on manage. From there you click device manager and you will get a list of your hardware. You can right click on each one and click update driver and the system will try to find the updated driver for you. If anything you now have your hardware name and can try to get the updated driver through the actual company who builds the drivers.

It also does sound like you may need to format the HDD's. Do the same thing but instead of clicking on device manager you will click on disk management and you can right click on each drive and select to format. Just make sure to not format the primary partition if that is even possible.

I am looking to upgrade my PC system with a new Video card. I am interested in the ATI Radeon 9600 XT 256mb video card but not sure if it is compatible with the ASUS A7V600-x MB. Can someone tell me please if this is a compatible combination? Will there be any problems?

A:Looking for compatible Video card for ASUS MB

I know this is an old post. But unanswered.

The short answer is as long as you have AGP 8x, and your video card is AGP 8x, you're fine. If you case has the room for it. If your power supply has extra power for it. Then go right ahead.

Otherwise, if you're still hanging around here, what did you end up doing?

Hi all,

I've got a new mobo, Asus P5Q SE2 (with the latest BIOS version 0801). I've been getting blue screens on startup, even before the login screen appears. If I press the reset button, I get the normal "Windows did not start correctly...." and select "Start Windows Normally" and it loads into Windows fine and don't have anymore issues. These blue screens don't happen every boot up and not on a warm boot, just on a cold boot.

The two blue screens have been (i) IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and (ii) PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

Im upgrading my hardware,so I'm wondering if it's a good idea to buy a WD HDD 640GB SATA III,and connect it to my mobo.

My mobo is Asus M2N,it has SATA connectors, and I have connected one WD SATA II HDD,it works just fine.

I'd like to know if this mobo supports SATA III HDDs.My priority at the moment is not full speed and advantages of SATA III HDDs,but the question if I could use it on this mobo. It's ok if my mobo downgrades HDD's capablities, cause I'm planning to replace the mobo in the next few months.

Have'nt found any topic that's dealing with this kind of issue,so if I'm wrong,I'd appreciate a link that describes the issue.

Looking forward to any response,thx.

A:WD SATA III 640GB HDD compatible with Asus M2N

TBH, Im not sure SATA 3 is really woth it for a mechanical HD.

I mean, they can not operate fast enough to saturate SATA 2, much less SATA 3.

Even a great number of SSDs, which are leaps and bounds faster, aren't really saturating SATA2. Although they are starting to now.

Perhaps others with more knowledge on the subject can provide insight of the advantages though.

From the specs I looked at, it doesnt appear it has SATA 3 ports. You may find out for sure in the owners manual though.

Hello everyone,

2. PSU Coolmax CUL-750B 750W
3. 2x2GB OCZ OCZ3G10664GK R (DDR3 RAM)

I installed Windows 7 x64bit OEM

I am having problems with BSOD (different ones not the same one every time)

I would like to know if its a compatibility Problem with My RAM and Motherboard or could it be something else. I am very bad with Hardware and I just bought parts that I knew could fit in theory.

BIOS is set to default because I don't know how to configure it (Probably thinking why did I buy parts instead of a built computer)

A:Compatible RAM for Asus P5E3 Pro Motherboard (BSOD)

Your RAM isn't on Asus' memory QVL (Qualified Vendors List)-but that isn't to say that it's not supported.
Having your power supply checked might be an option if your graphics card seems to run slow or you are getting fluctuating performance.
Because OCZ memory modules lack what are called embedded XMP profiles, your motherboard will have difficulty assigning a setting for them so you will need to do it manually.
Download Memtest86+ from here http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
***under the Memtest86+ v4.00, select "Download -Pre-compiled bootable iso ", save and unzip if downloading the zip file then burn a BOOTABLE CD using ImgBurn or your usual burning software (Nero etc.).- this program runs at BIOS level
Download MemSet here http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/MemSet.shtml
You can also download CPU-Z -it gives a much simplified version of the RAM timings but you can also access chipset and CPU info. download here http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

First order of business would be ascertain whether the RAM modules are not defective.
I presume the RAM in question is OCZ's Gold XTC modules - if they are then you can try to manually select the timings- they should be on a sticker on the side of the RAM, which should be 7-7-7-21 ( CAS (or CL)-tRCD-tRP-tRAS) at 1.5 to 1.6 volts.
IF THIS IS NOT YOUR RAM THEN GO NO FURTHER, If it is then you need to set it in order to test it for stability.
Boot into your BIOS. Select the seco... Read more

Hey all,
I was looking to buy a 3700+ (939 socket) and a ASUS A8N SLI premium board to go with it. Newegg just put this board on sale, but upon reading the latest reviews, a few people say this is the only 939 processor that isn't compatible with this board, and that the deluxe will work. Other people say that they are running this board with this processor. This is totally confusing me, and I don't see anything specific on the AMD website.

It is true.

According to the ASUS website, the 3700+ IS compatible with the deluxe version of that board (it is on the supported CPU list), but if you go to the Premium version, that particular CPU is skipped on the list.

In fact, that is the ONLY reason I didn't get a Premium board, as if I have any problems, I was afraid I wouldn't get any support as it is not officially supported.

I have the A8N-SLI deluxe with the Athlon64 3700+.

But as you said, if you search around you can see that many people do have that combination and it is working fine....

Unfortunately, that motherboard only has an AGP slot, so your videocard upgrade will be very limited.

Here is one of the cheaper units for AGP, but you must also ensure your case has adequate cooling (at least one case fan aside from the power supply fan is recommended) and also ensure you have a fairly beefy power supply (350 Watt or greater, 400W+ preferred).

I bought a Corsair CX430 for my build that has an ASUS M4A785-M mobo. The Corsair CX430 uses an 8-pin EPS/ATV 12V connector, as opposed to the 4-pin that my mobo uses. However, they're supposed to be backwards compatible. My only problem is that there seems to be something in the way of the connector: I think the rightmost pins of the PSU's connector fits into the ones on my mobo leaving the other 4 to hang over the left side, but there's that thing with the 'R20' on it blocking them. A:Will Gigabyte GeForce G210 be compatible with ASUS M4N68T?

Why not? It's about the lowest-end card in its series, but it may serve your needs.

Be wary of the fanless versions of the card, though. They may have large heatsinks.

Is an Asus P5P800 mobo compatible with XFX 6600 ge Force 256 mb video card? If not can anyone tell me me what are the compatible brands for asus p5p800? I appreciate all the help & advice.

A:is Asus P5P800 compatible with an XFX 6600 256mb video card?

According to the ASUS site, the P5P800 has an AGP slot. A 6600 is fine as long as it's an AGP model and not PCI-e.

Hello everyone,

I have a rig I built 4 and a half years ago that I'm trying to upgrade piece by piece, which includes the following hardware:

- AMD 64 4800x2 2.4 ghz
- 2gb ddr500 ram
- ATI Radeon x1900xt 512mb
- a8r32 MVP-deluxe motherboard
- 500w cooler master power supply

I obviously need to upgrade this system to play some decent games and for 3D animation, and I wanted to upgrade my videocard specifically, I was looking at the radeon 5850 as it has some pretty good specs and isn't too expensive. I will upgrade my mobo and everything later but I can't until I allocate more funds. Would a 5850 be compatible with my mobo? (it would only be temporary). I already ordered a new power supply @ 1080w for decent power, I just want to get rid of this x1900xt as it overheats like crazy and causes artifacts constantly. What would you recommend i do? My next mobo will be good and i want to upgrade to a quad core phenom or maybe an i7..I'm on the fence when it comes to processors. Thanks for reading.

A:Asus a8r32 MVP-deluxe, any good compatible video cards?

Any PCI-e x16 video card will work... Your motherboard can accommodate 2 of these video cards

I bought a new Asus X453M notebook/laptop for my partner. The shop installed (upon our request) W7 Ultimate but it was a terrible amateurish mess, including tons of spyware, browser hijack etc. Cleaning up the mess with various antivirus tools seemed finally successful - but it was NOT. Complete clean reinstall was necessary.

Before doing so I found out that this Asus model is preset for Windows 8.1 and BIOS-changes were necessary before installing W7. I followed the instructions, then installed W7 successfully. After that lots of W7-related drivers had to be downloaded, which I found on a website dealing with this Asus model. Most of all these steps were eventually successfully completed.

But there is ONE thing I cannot get done:
The W7 Aero glass look does not work and the task bar color cannot be changed in 'personalize'.
Troubleshooting says my video card can support the Aero feature, but I need to install a WDDM compatible driver for it.

But whatever I tried, I cannot find such driver.

If you reply, keep in mind I am not a computer expert at all. Every new step has a huge learning curve. So please be simple ;-)

Thanks, greetings,

Status Bar ? What are you talking about ?

Did you download and install the proper video driver from Asus ?

Did you run windows update ?

I am looking for something to run 2x DVI and HDMI TV all at the same time. Can 6870 do that? I currently have HD5570 and it can only do 2 monitors at a time.

Also is $80 decent for a **USED** 6870 or is there something better that I should be looking at for $80 to run 3 displays?

If there is something better, I would like to make sure there IS a fan. Not interested in fanless.

(EDIT: Seems theres a couple different versions of the 6870, this is the version I am looking at Radeon HD 6870 Video Card | system components | St. Catharines | Kijiji)

A:Is Radeon HD 6870 Video Card compatible w/ ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo MB?

As long as you have a PCI-E x16 Slot in that motherboard (In which case it does), then it will work.

just wondering. i can't find too much info on the mobo online, esp. the type of AGP slot it has (esp if its the 3.3v which would mean my radeon won't fit) as well as the FSB speed etc being compatible with my athlon xp 2400+. any info would be appreciated, thanks

A:Will Athlon XP 2400+ and radeon x1650 pro be compatible with ASUS A7V266 E/AA mobo?

I doubt it will support a 2400+
There is not much info on the asus site however I did look through the bios updates and the last one says it is to support the 2100+ cpu. No updates after that.

(A large portion of my issue and what led up to it resides here)

I know barely anything about boot managers and whatnot. This is a part of a long series regarding other problems I've had that I posted previously here a while ago, but no one seemed to know anything about it (although the above link is to another forum).

Well I had gotten past that original problem by forcing the "UEFI DVD drive" to be booted instead of the "BIOS DVD drive" version, as I have the option to pick either type (as to utilize a GPT format instead of an MBR format, I do have a UEFI motherboard by the way). As I try to install Win7 x64, it creates the GPT disk and MSR and EFI partitions correctly, but when the setup restarts for the first time, inbetween the "Installing Updates" phase and "Completing Installation" phase, it gives me this error:

Windows could not finish configuring the system. To attempt to resume configuration, restart the computer.

I tried to manually create the GPT disk and EFI, MSR and primary partitions but no change. I tried different permutations of boot orders and nothing changed. Now, I can successfully install Win7 via the "BIOS DVD drive" and use a MBR style disk instead, and it installs fine. The only caveat is I can only boot up Windows in MBR format if I have the installation disc in the DVD drive, which is silly, and refuse to settle for.

Any more information you need please ask... Read more

A:UEFI-compatible Win7 installation

There are special steps to install using the EFI BIOS: UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums

When installing to an MBR HD if it requires having the disk in the drive in the drive to boot it, post back a screenshot of your maximized Disk Management drive map with listings. You may still need to write the System boot files to the 100mb System Reserved or Win7 partition by marking it Active, running Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots until Win7 starts on its own.

Hey guys, so yesterday I bought a brand new TP link TL-WN353GD PCI wifi card, installed it, (it auto installed) and it always says windows could not connect to _____ and whatever. I did that diagnostics it suggested and it told me there was a problem with the router, but after that, all the other diagnostics said that there was no detected problem. I have the drivers disk, etc. tried installing using other drivers, nothing. My router is fine though, it works on my $12 ralink wifi card from a china internet store, so I know it works. Im stuck using it now. Thanks in advance guys.

Hi all,
I have a WinXP Pro box that is able to work just fine with EFS files created on WinXP. Those files can also be processed on Win7 or Win10 boxes I have.  It seems that Win7 and Win10 EFS is fully interoperable as well.
But the WinXP box can't seem to work with EFS files created on the Win7 or Win10 boxes.
Does anyone have an example of a WinXP box that is able to work with EFS files from the newer OSs?
Is there anything tricky I need to do on the WinXP box to enable this?  I've installed the certificates and done the Group Policy Editor thing.
Thanks in advance for any tips you can provide.

Hey everyone I really need some help with this:
I just burnt my Win7 install .iso to a DVD and rebooted my computer ready for the installation. I wait for the windows files to load, then when the bar is full, the screen goes to a blue screen with this message:

"...The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updated BIOS.
Technical information:

Please help me sort this out, I have a fairly new computer that has been running XP SP3 without error thus far, and I am very keen to make the leap to Win7. Any and all help is most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

So I'm needing to know whether a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop with a Core 2 Duo processor is likely to support win7 64 bit or not? From what I've read it sounds like it will..

..but, the laptop currently won't boot (hence the need for a windows reinstall) ? is there any way to tell for sure without booting it up?

A:Win7 compatible? can't boot to check..

Check the Dell support website.
If they don't have Windows 7 64-bit drivers for that model, you should not install that OS.

I just checked on your behalf on both the US & UK websites. Dell do not have any Windows 7 drivers for the Inspiron 1525, in fact they don't have any 64-bit drivers at all for that model. They support only 32-bit Windows XP & Windows Vista.

Since Dell laptops require drivers supplied only by Dell, it would be most unwise to install any version of Windows 7 on your laptop. Several components would most likely not work properly if at all.

A:ASUS Striker II Extreme NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI, Crossfire Compatible ????? HELP

Nope, only SLI is supported on NVidia chipsets. You'd want either an AMD/ATI chipset based board or an Intel based boards that state Crossfire support. Or an Intel X58 chipset based board that supports both SLI and Crossfire. Or run a single card, or a single card with multiple GPU's like the Radeon 4850 X2.

Hello all,

I was wondering if you could help me out here. I'm currently hunting for a software program that I can add all of my music in, correct the filenames, obtain album art, and catalog in a folder hierarchy of my choosing. I know things like WinAmp can do this in their music player, and I know that iTunes tries to as well; I guess what I'm really asking for is a program that doesn't have to play the files, but that exists solely for the purpose of organizing my music? Oh, and if it's natively 64-bit, that doesn't hurt either. (If it's not 64 bit native, I'll live...probably. )

Thanks in advance!

A:Good Win7 Compatible Music Organizer?

I like the free AIMP2 (latest release candidate). It's a player like Winamp, (also recorder, if download the extra AIMP2 "tools"), but it does the organization/playlist thing very well and intuitively. Can use winamp plugins too after just copying the right .dll from winamp into the AIMP2 folder. I like it a lot more than Winamp due to its quality, features, ease of use and looks.

I have spent hours googling to find a 16GB 2.0 USB flash drive that will work. The sellers' and manufacturers' descriptions are incomplete. Researching user comments have been some help in pointing out when they found not compatible with Win7 or not 64-bit version of Win7. Most comments had to do with other issues. Found NOTHING saying one works with Win7 64-bit.
Hopefully someone through their experience knows of some that will definitely work.

I've used a half dozen different drives on Windows 7 64-bit computers. Every one of them works. You shouldn't have a problem with whatever you buy.
