Dell Insprion 3521 Headset issues (Running Windows 10)

Q: Dell Insprion 3521 Headset issues (Running Windows 10)

Hello, Dell Community. I've recently bought a headset with a mic. I also have a headset splitter because theres only one audio jack and there was two cables one for mic and one for audio. Now when I plug it in a pop up comes up asking me the following. Is the device you just plugged into the jack Headphones, Headset, Skullcandy headset, etc. I select headset now the purpose that I bought this headset was recording with the mic in the headset so now I go to record and my dell laptop doesn't pick up the mic and it doesn't play audio. So I go to recording devices and I right click and press show disabled devices and disconnected devices and my headset doesnt show up on the list! So I go through and uninstall and install the drives which also doesn't work I've tried only using the mic plugin. and It doesn't detect it I need help! If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it I'm using a Dell Insprion 3521 Laptop Running Windows 10 64 bit.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the appropriate section for this, but I'm working on a friend's Dell inspiron 15-3521 that has been unusable for about a month. The laptop is about 3 years old and came with Windows 8 and he tried to upgrade to Windows 10 when prompted. After the "upgrade", the laptop would boot correctly into Windows 10 about 1 out of 5 attempts and when it did boot correctly, it would ultimately crash without much explanation. He wanted to downgrade all the way to Windows 7(which I have a legitimate copy of) so I booted into a Linux Mint Live distro, formatted the drive, and installed Windows 7. After the installation, Windows 7 booted up fine but was incredibly slow and still basically unusable. Now, after restarting, the computer either restarts at the login screen of Windows 7 or freezes on a black screen after entering login info. Initially I thought maybe the ram was bad and was just running out of memory, but the Linux memtest comes back clean. Now I suspect that it could be a bad hard drive, but it would be great to get more opinions before I continue guessing.

I purchased a Dell Inspiron 3521 nearly a year ago. Few weeks back, my touch screen stopped responding. I, having some basic knowledge in computers, tried everything that i could to make it work again, but sadly, haven't been able to kill an ant in the matter.
My System Specifications are:
Model No: Dell Inspiron 15 - 3521 - Touch
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3337U CPU @1.8Ghz
Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit
Video Cards: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 & AMD Radeon HD 8730M
Things I've tried already:
1. Refreshing PC back to Windows 8.
2. Updating all drivers and Windows Updates.
3. Updating to Windows 8.1 again.
4. All windows updates again.
5. Rechecked if any driver update was missing today.(No there is no driver updates for me currently)
Additional Details:
1. There is no Tablet PC settings in Control Panel since i refreshed. (Didn't check if it was before, but it sure would have been there.)
2. There is no Tablet PC Components or any similar thing in add features to windows.
3. There is no Touch Screen compliant device in HID or Mice or other Pointing Device in the  device manager.
4. I have the Intel HM77 driver and the latest BIOS running as suggested by the experts on other threads.
If anyone has any other ideas, please help.
Thank You!

A:Touch Screen Issues in Dell Inspiron 3521

Can you check the touch feature outside the OS.
Run a hardware diagnostics by tapping F12 on the start up Dell logo, Select diagnostics from the list, Once the test is done, use the touch input to select the components on the left pane.
Check if that works & let us know.

Just got a new tower PC -- Dell Inspiron. It comes with McAfee and Windows Defender. I looked at Windows Defender and it said that the Overview Settings are being managed by the vendor McAfee.

Is it possible to separate these two? I'm assuming but haven't seen details that McAfee will shortly ask me for money. There's been no indication that the McAfee is a trial offering.

I'm afraid to uninstall McAfee just in case the two are now somehow married.

A:Dell Insprion came with MCAfee; want to use Windows Defe

if you have McAfee running then Windows Defender will be disabled by Windows.
McAfee is Junk IMHO. To uninstall it, you'll need to download the special uninstaller from McAfee site to completely remove it from your PC.

I'm in a bit of a bad situation right now... I have a Dell Insprion 5520 which I purchased two years ago. It shipped with Windows 8. I've since upgraded to 8.1

I want a fresh start and I'm looking to reinstall Windows. However, when I choose "Remove Everything and Reinstall Windows" in PC settings, I'm told that the recovery environment cannot be found. Upon further investigation, I notice that I have no recovery partition in Disk Management.

Since I don't have a Windows 8 installation disc, I resorted to my Dell recovery USB disk. This also requires the recovery partition.

I recovered my system's product key using Magical Jellybean. I found the "Upgrade Windows With Only a Product Key" article on Microsoft's website. I downloaded the Windows 8 installation utility and typed in my product key. I'm told that my product key cannot be used to install a retail version of Windows.

My only option now would be to buy a copy of Windows 8.1, which I want to avoid at all costs. Is there anything I can do?

A:Dell Insprion 5520 Windows Reinstallation

Hi, you can use the Refresh option in this article: Refresh Windows 8. It is much more convenient.

I am constantly having this problem with my laptop. As I plug in and unplug my headphones throughout the day, I've noticed that after a couple times the bass gets really quiet and almost completely drops out. Since I have some pretty decent audiophile headphones with really great bass, it is super annoying and noticeable.
One workaround I have discovered is to go to the audio settings (either in Windows or the Dell Audio app), and switch the Default Format (the thing with 24-bit, 48000Hz in it)  to something else, play some audio, then switch it back.
A little word on my setup: I have the latest drivers from the Dell download page installed. I am running Windows 10 64-bit with all the updates. I have Waves Maxx audio "enhancements" disabled. My Default Format is usually set to 24-bit 48000Hz, but the problem eventually happens no matter what I set it to. The "headphone size" option is set to "Medium", but as far as I can tell this option does nothing if I do not have Waves Maxx enabled. Switching it also does not fix the problem.
If I play audio using WASAPI (this basically means that the music player takes over the sound card completely, and bypasses whatever audio processing Windows and the driver has) the problem does not happen.
How do I fix this problem? It's incredibly annoying, and most likely has something to do with the audio driver, since this does not happen in Linux, and it did not happen when I was runn... Read more

I am interested in buying the Dell XPS 15 9560, but due to the privacy nightmare that is Windows 10 I want to clean install Windows 7. Long story short I disabled almost everything on the privacy menu on Windows 10 on my desktop and they switch back to re-enabled when I do a Windows Update which is pretty sketchy.
Has anyone done this? Which features no longer work with Windows 7? Any driver issues? Thank you for the feedback.

A:Any issues running Windows 7 on the the Dell XPS 15 (9560)?

Windows 7 is not supported on the Kaby Lake platform (this model).
The only version of Windows that supports Kaby Lake is windows 10 -- the Skylake platform (9350) was the last one with Windows 7 support.

Hi all,

I am running an Asus M5A97EVO board on Windows 7 64bit. I run a Logitech G35 headset. So, I left out of province for work last year and was away for 8 months, once I returned I had a Hard drive failure and had to re-install windows on a new harddrive.

I cant recall exactly but I think the following issues came up after the install, they were definantly not there before I went away for work.

I play a PC racing game that uses audio
I use Teamspeak
I listen to Windows Media
I watch YouTube

I used to be able to do all 4 of these at once if I choose to. Now, If I have teamspeak open its hard to get my racing game going, sometimes I have to shutdown teamspeak, then get the game going then try teamspeak again. I cant listen to windows media and youtube videos wont load when I have my game and teamspeak running. If I close them, everything else works normally.

Its like I can only use 1 - 2 audio items at once, its really weird and I am at a loss as to what might be causing this.

Hopefully I have included enough information, anything else let me know and ill get it for you.

I own a Dell Inspiron 3521 laptop. In the very first month I started getting a blue screen and fatal error UNEXPECTED STORE EXCEPTION. There is no error code.

Dell support replaced the hard disk and then for a few months the error did not occur. Again I'm facing the same issue after warranty has expired.

I upgraded to windows 10.

Now, This is happening too often and I lose the work that is unsaved. Please help.

If someone were to suggest you do a Clean install of Win 10, would you consider it?  I assume there are Win 10 drivers for that system?  Is there a Win 10 Recovery image available for download?

Hello there. I've searched so much to find some solution, but i couldn't, so i'm post here asking for help, thanks in advance.
1st time I installed Win10 on my laptop drivers were fine, though can't remember if I installed drivers after or before upgrading. I had to format my laptop a week ago, installed all drivers on win7, then upgraded to 10, but i've a lot of problems and audio driver is one of them. Take a look at these pictures, they say everything:

Can You help me about this ?
I do also have graphics driver problems, check pls:

A:Inspiron 3521, Dell Audio and AMD driver not working, Windows 10 clean installation

When I run installer for AMD video driver (8730) , my screen goes black for some time (idk if it's normal), then it requires restart. After I restart a black screen appears and it takes a lot of time for windows to load the page where a user types his password to log in. After i type my password and desktop screen appears i have these problems :
1) a strange box of pixels appears on the screen and doesn't move ( something like the picture shows)
2) right click on desktop opens a menu that contains half of lines it has to
3) cannot open Catalyst Control Center
4) when clicking on Configure Switchable graphics it opens Intel HD graphics settings
here are some picture of what i'v got now:
I uninstalled AMD Catalyst Install Manager from Control Panel, then AMD Radeon HD 8730M from Device Manager, and tried to reinstall, but everything is like it was before.
What can I do about this ?
I do also have Dell Audio driver problems, and I posted about it too:

I have run into an incredibly odd issue with my inspiron n17110 while running windows 10. It appears that the dell drivers are malfunctioning, and the result is not pretty.

The graphic driver is not the issue. Dell's software is. I have eliminated both graphic cards from the cause.
What got me to point the finger at dell is that when I press the physical button on the top right of the base that turns off the screen (sort of like a "force to screensaver") is pressed and then the screen woken up, the issue is immediately resolved. I'm fairly disappointing that a device that is less that 4 years old has still not had a critical issue like this resolved yet.
I guess my question is, has anyone else experienced this, and is there any way to fix it for the time being? Thanks!

A:Dell inspiron N7110 running Windows 10- severe graphical issues

Unfortunately, Dell does not have any Windows 10 drivers available for this computer. It has not been tested for the Windows 10 upgrade. You may have issues with the hardware on this computer if you have no Windows 10 drivers.

I know I might have posted in the past about this but wanted to ask again. I have a Dell Inspiron 530....The machine itself okay for what I use it for, I know its getting a little old in the tooth and I don't have the cash to spend on a new powerhouse PC, so I was just curious as I do want to upgrade it a little...maybe the CPU? i know people have said in the past that it's not worth upgrading but figured if I could eek a little more out of this machine til I can afford a new one it'd be helpful

A:Dell Insprion 530

Whilst I like your idea of upgrading the issue you may have would be only upgrading the CPU may be bottlenecking your system. This means the other hardware isn't quick/powerful enough to be able to make full use of the CPU. The CPU may not be compatible with your motherboard, this could be more expensive than simply buying a new PC. The price of PC's is pretty good and you can get a good deal on a new one. You can get a good PC for general tasks for pretty cheap!
If you let us know your budget we can find a suitable PC.

Hope this helps!

Any ideas or help it won't let us factory reset as we've tried doing that but all it take is to windows error recovery page.

A:Dell Insprion 15R N5010

Hopefully you have a set of recovery media (which you were prompted to make when you first turned the system on out of the box).  You'll need that -- if you don't have it,  what OS and version is on the drive?

A:Help with dell insprion 3558

Thank you for writing to us!
When you say boot logo do you mean the Dell Logo?
If the system is booting upto the Dell Logo tap on F8 and check if you get advanced boot options and try to boot into safe mode.
If the system Boots upto the Dell Logo then you can tap F12 which will bring up the diagnostics screen to check for harddrive faults.
Kindly private message the service tag and email.

First of all, thank you for any help in advance.

My computer Dell Inspiron is not starting up. it has a green light in the back when the cord is plugged in. Before when i pressed the power button It would blink an amber light and startup after 5 seconds of holding, which was really annoying but better than nothing. But since yesterday nothing was working. It wouldn't start. I put it in a direct outlet and still no sign. I thought the PSU was gone bad so I tested it and it worked. I replaced the CMOS battery still nothing. When I opened my computer up there was an amber light on the motherboard which is apparently normal on google, not sure if it's correct or not.
again thanks for any help

A:Getting A Replacement Dell Insprion 6000

You will get the basic 6 month MacAfee or Norton trial but to be honest I would uninstall that and use on of the recommended freeware antivirus'. I would personally but the following on the computer as soon as you get it.AVG freeSybot S&DSpywareGuardSpywareBlasterDefenderEwidoa?Ad-Aware SEAnd preload the online antivirus scanning software (Your choice of 4 or 5)OpenOffice 2.0http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic3616.htmlThere is a lot of good freeware you can put on your computer. Use the recommended list from BC and you should be safe. With the removal tools and online scanner, it's usually very hard to install them once infected, so I like to preload for when I need them. They do not sit in memory so there is no overhead, as long as you have the hard drive space.

This morning, after starting up my computer I logged on, the welcome loading screen managed to stay loading for around 20 minutes so i restarted hoping this would resolve the issue. I was prompted to check my hard drive, rather then the usual technical jargon the screen shows when checking the hard disk, the screen spewed pages of gobbledegook letters, before changing to a bsod and trying to restart.
I was prompted to repair the start up system, though no operating system to repair was offered, and i can't find it manually because i cant access the C: drive.
Is there any C: driver or something i can use to repair the disk so i can access it?

If startup repair cannot find it, then there is a serious problem.

Run the Dell diagnostics on the hard drive, it may have failed. Note the failure code if displayed.

If you can...

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

If above is not feasible then remove your harddrive and slave it into another system. Access this harddrive through this system and a) transfer your important stuff to a flash drive or external harddrive, b) run a virus scan, and c) do a harddrive diagnostics.

Hi there! Last night my girlfriend's laptop display turned off and wouldn't seem to come back on. I hooked up an external display and it worked fine. I then took it apart and checked the connects to the display and they looked fine as well. After this, I got the screen to come on for a few minutes.
When the screen is on, it flickers and makes a slight buzzing noise. Also, the bottom right of the screen (from the front, bottom left from the back) gets very, very hot. It turns off after a few minutes
I took it apart again after this and noticed that the tape on the bottom left (from the back- the origin of the noise and the heat) was starting to melt. Does this imply that there is a short with a wire in the display? If so, is it something that is fixable if I open up the LCD? If not would purchasing a replacement LCD panel be the cheapest repair option?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

EDIT: I've never heard of wireless networking for a server, so I'd be surprised if there were any server OS wireless NIC drivers available.

Hi, I'm a new member. My Dell is 7 years old. When I turn it on it starts booting. There's a pinkish tint on the screen with the wihdows logo. It starts to boot and you can see the shadow of the system appearing in thebackground but then goes completely black, Has someone resolved this problem? Would appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks

With it booted up (even though you can't see it), if you shine a flashlight sideways onto the screen, can you see that the desktop is there but very dark?
If so, there are two possible problems; the inverter has gone bad or the ccfl bulb in the display. LCD's have a flourescent lightbulb which looks like a piece of spaghetti inside the LCD. The inverter is what powers it ($5). The LCD is more.

Hello all,
I'm a little computer savvy but I'm not any good with networking so please speak as close to English as possible.
I have a Dell Inpsiron with Windows XP. It will connect to many wireless networks, just not to mine, which of course is my kind of luck. It detects my network but when I enter my key and try to connect it says it's unable to connect. I have picked through a few other forums and saw that I should check my Device Manager. Now I did, but I have no idea what I gained with knowing that my Network Adapters are:
-Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN Mini-PCI Card
-Intel(R) Pro/100 VE Network Connection

And I'm sure my "radio button" is on, because I can connect to other wireless networks right now, just not mine.
So, if you have any ideas please tell me. Any and all help is appreciated.

A:Dell Insprion Won't Connect to Wireless Network

Disable encryption and MAC Address filtering on the router and try to connect that way. If successful you can probably re-enable encryption and reconnect. If unsuccessful please attach a screen shot of the Networks page of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector and show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Just got this used pc and wiped Vista to install Linux Mint Mate on it.  Got it installed but now the thing don't boot right.  I've done this many times so can't figure out what's is wrong.  I thought Flashing the BIOS would be a good idea as the current one it 1.0.6 and the new one is like 1.0.13.  I'm assuming this is a newer one, the 13 designation.  I tried to flash with "freeDOS" Bootable USB and with a Bootable DVD.  Also tried this from one Dell Tutorial that did not work either.  Also used the DELL 32bit diagnostics creator to create a bootable device, but the directions are not current with the Software.  Now it boots to the Dell Screen that says "Dell" and has the F2 and F12 choices on boot.  It takes a long time, then goes to another screen, I'll attempt to add a pic here.

I have a Dell Inspiron 8500 that is 3 1/2 years old. Lately when it is on battery only, it shuts off after about 20 minutes even though the battery monitor says it's around 85%. I have tried a new battery. I even replaced the motherboard (based on advice from another source). Neither has fixed the problem. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Thanks in advance, Mary

Bought a 11 3162 in Feb 2016, only has 2GB RAM, my bad, bought a 4GB card from Dell. Remove the case and battery, can't see any part remotely close to what they sent me. Any suggestions?

A:Dell Insprion 11 3162 Memory Upgrade

The memory module is right amidship next to the hard drive.  It has two spring-loaded clips -- one on each side.  Move those aside and the module will pop out.

I have a strange problem here with my laptop. It has started to always restart when I ask it to shutdown. The shutdown process works as normal, but after the machine turns off it stays off for about 3 seconds, and then turns back on again.

I have tried the following things:-
Updated the BIOS to the newest version
Disabled all Wake on Lan options in the BIOS (none were set)
Reset all Power Management Options to default
Looked in the event log and cannot see any issues
Updated all software
Installed Secunia PSI and updated any software it highlighted had new versions
Ensured all Windows updates were present
Gone to Dell's website and looked for updates to drivers for LAN hardware - none found
Checked to see if I had any Nvidia drivers installed, none found - uses Intel integrated GPU
Reset the BIOS to defaults
I'm struggling for ideas now. Anyone have any others to try?

These issues only happy if the laptop is plugged into AC power. If the laptop is shutdown when using battery is shutsdown properly, and stays shutdown even if the AC power cord is restored.

The first thing to try is the LCD built-in self test -- does the color look too yellow there?  Hold the D key through the self test to access BIST.

Dell Insprion 620/Vostro 260  NO Bios Setting for AHCI
Interestingly I could not even update the bios without the INTEL Management Drivers.
Checking in the Device manager the machine is using the ATA drivers not the AHCI drivers
AND the INTEL RST drivers will not install.

Why is that?

I did try updating to Bios version A04 but this made no difference.

A:Dell Insprion 620/Vostro 260 NO Bios Setting for AHCI

I did some research and found out that the chipset in this system, the H61, simply doesn't support AHCI or RAID. There's no way to enable either for a reason. :(
Wish I had known this. The value of this system just really went down the tube if you intend to throw an SSD in there.

I get a message right after i start my laptop saying "Primary hard drive not detected". "No bootable device detected"

I went into the Bios and looked under the hard drive field, and it said "none" So i figured the hard drive is bad. Also dell tech support told me I needed to replace the hard drive. So i get the new hard drive in the mail today. Installed it, and i get the same message. Anyone have any ideas on why its still not detecting my hard drive?
