Web Delay 7 Seconds

Q: Web Delay 7 Seconds

Good morning. I'm not sure if this is SP2 related or not. When I change web sites it now takes 7 seconds to open pages. Once I have gone to the site once the next time is immediate. I have deleted all files and cookies under tools in explorer. I have DSL. I'm on XP. I've run SystemWorks Win doctor, clean sweep and adaware. If I close IE and reopen and then go to the same web site it again takes 7 seconds. I noticed that when Adaware runs it scans for several seconds on "browser cache" yet when I do a search on the c drive for all cache or temp files there are none that are large. Where would the browser cache be? What else might cause this, SP2?
Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Web Delay 7 Seconds

I'm gaining on it. I turned off all services and everything was fine. I finally narrowed it down after several hours to Remote access auto connection manager. When it's enabled it takes 7 seconds to go to any page when it's disabled everything works fine. I'm not sure if someone is connecting me to a remote site to copy everywhere I go on the web or what. Any ideas?

I never watch TV except for sports which I like to synch to internet audio broadcasts. To synch the tv video with the audio from the web, I need the ability to pause the video 0 - 45 seconds going to the tv set.

Background: Prior to today, my old Tivo video recorder enabled me to pause the video going into my tv set even when the Tivo recorder service was turned off via DirecTV. Today, I had to get a new DirectTV Plus recorder (a replacement) and the pause feature on the DirectTV Plus recorder will not pause the video unless I turn on the DirectTV recorder service ($72 a year I do not want to pay).

What kind of card for my computer do I need to give me the ability to pause tv video 0 - 45 seconds?

Thank you for your responses.

Hi guys, I have the following sound problem on my newly installed Windows 10. When I don't use audio on my PC, meaning not watching any videos or listening to music, let's say, reading an article - it seems that my sound card goes to sleep after a few minutes.

Then, I try to play a song in WMP for example - the first 2 seconds or so I don't hear anything, then the sound card "wakes up" or something and the audio is back with no interruptions or anything like that. I mean there is no problem with the sound itself. So, if I'm not at my computer, I don't hear any shorts sounds at all. I mean system sounds or new incoming mail sounds etc. Because by the time sound card is "awake", the sound has already ended.

I went through all possible settings in Windows, power saving modes, reinstalled drivers for my motherboard... I mean everything I could think of. Nothing helps. Does someone have a solution for this? Thank you in advance.

The sound card is built-in, on Gigabyte B85M motherboard.

Hi All

Hoping somebondy can help with an issue I have please ...

After I boot my Windows 7 (6gb RAM) SSD drive laptop, if I open anything on the desktop, there is a delay - it opens the white box (which is blank), then after a some seconds, it populates with the contents of the folder. After that, I can open anything on the desktop time and time again and it will open instantly with all the contents showing - - BUT - - if I open something else (browsing the internet for example) or working within a program OR do not click anything on the desktop for 30 SECONDS (I have timed it) the dealy happens again !!!

I open a desktop folder from the start - delay - - - open them again perfect for as long as you want - leave the mouse alone for 30 seconds and then open something - delay again ...........

I have used countless Malware, Adware and virus checkers, registry cleaners etc. Used MSCONFIG, closed all at start up and tried it but it still does it - I tired it in Safe Mode and it works perfectly ........ I have done a )poor) video on YouTube to show the fault, however, the delay is often longer than shown) -

Thanks in advance for any replies

Chris

A:Delay opening Desktop Folders if nothing is clicked for 30 seconds!!

Have you checked your RAM to ensure that you are not using it up? In short, I am asking if it is possible that you are thrashing your hard drive because you just don't have enough RAM to run the system, so what is in memory works great until it isn't used for a bit and the OS places it on the HD for retrieval later using virtual RAM. Even an SSD has a delay in read and write, it isn't RAM.

Just because you have 6GB of RAM listed doesn't mean your system is actually using it. You might have a bad stick, bad bay, or you have so much running in the background that it is full. It is possible even that the RAM itself is the cause of the delay, especially if it has a slow clock speed or is dying.

To be honest there is not enough information provided without viewing the video (I am at work, so cannot do so) to think it is anything other than a RAM issue.

edit - added statement after reviewing original posting and noticed that RAM amount was mentioned.

I have recently installed Windows 7 over Windows 10 (I didn't really like it) and I have a boot-time problem now. My computer give me >120 second in order for me to start using.

Startup usually may check and confirm many type of setting, etc.

For example, if you desktop is empty, it will take 10 second and you can start using.

All items on the desktop are to be verified as true, otherwise it may try to find the link.

When you insert any USB device into the USB port, the system usually take every 5 second to check if there is any change.
Hence, within 5 second, the USB device will be detected.
Then it have to check if that device did connected to USB port-2 before, it can be used immediately.
If it check as the device is never connected to the USB port-2, it then have to find the USB driver to install and saved, remembered.

Then again, for 90 seconds, it may not matter much, as just turn on the computer before, say, to take a bath first.

Hi All,

I have noticed a quite annoying delay in google chrome (Btw I just reinstalled it now).
It takes between 5 to 10 seconds (Sometimes more) for it to start loading any address i enter. For instance, entering www.bleepingcomputer.com then hitting enter, there will be an unepected wait/delay/silence for many seconds before the browser start trying to lookup and load the page.

Second observation: Navigating to a link within an already opened website loads instantly (This means that the problem only occurs when i enter new website)

Third Observation: Navigating to bleepingcomputers.com from a tab with www.yahoo.com already loaded will firstly read "waiting for y3.analytics.yahoo.com" for some seconds before starting to load the new web. While navigating to a site from a new tab will also say waiting for www.google.com before starting to load the new web.

Please help..
Thanks.

When I input something with my keyboard, the touchpad/trackpoint doesn't accept any clicking for about ~0.5 seconds. Its a small delay but it is driving me insane. T460 laptop, Synaptics Clickpad V1.1 Things I've tried:-  Reinstalling drivers, and restarting laptop. Nothing changed.-  Turned palm rejection to minimum. This fixes an earlier problem where the mouse would stop moving with keyboard presses, but it doesn't affect the clicking delay.-  Went into the registry editor, found 'synaptics' under 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' but couldn't find any variables that indicate a delay after keyboard presses. I'd really appreciate any help with this. ~3 hours of googling isn't helping me. On the weekend I had a very surprising crazy malware/virus/trojan attack, I was sitting there speaking on Skype and then 3 different malware aps popped up on the screen, the task manager was locked, safe mode didnt work, my browsers were hijacked and covered in toolbars and I couldn't visit any sites, etc etc.
I thought AVG + AdAware would have protected me against this stuff but obviously not.
Anyway, I installed Malware Bytes, Spybot and ZoneAlarm, and with all this stuff installed and after about 50 reboots my system was clean and back to normal.

However, since then, whenever I search for something in google, and then click a link, it says Connecting to server <www.whatever.co.uk> (the link I followed) and then stops on a white page with no content, the status bar says Done.
I wait 5 seconds, then it starts loading again, and 80% of the time will then display the page, so it's annoying but I can at least still use the net. Though the other 20% of the time I don't ever get to the page, instead I get a piece of broken script code of some sort, and in this code it always references http 23.meningre.com . I've googled meningre and there is NOTHING about this, I would've thought at least one other person would be experiencing this.

Anyway things I've checked: HOSTS file looks ok, internet connection settings doesn't specify a proxy or DNS servers. no weird processes running. ran hijack this - looks clean

any other suggestions?

Title I wanted to use: Windows XP SP3: Slow Startup / Boot: Black Screen Delay & Delay after logging in

For some reason I can't preview my post when I use this title: I have tried removing all the punctuation, including the &, which doesn't work and have tried other titles with the same character length, which does work.

Problem Begins Here:

When I turn on or restart my computer, the boot up time from the time I press the power button to the time the final icon on my desktop loads is slow. I am not too concerned about the time after my desktop is shown since I have several items to run at startup.

The two areas of concern are:

1) After the XP logo is shown, my screen goes black. This lasts for about 17 to 19 seconds. I don't know when this started as I rarely restart my computer. The problem is worse if I startup in Safe Mode. It's about 1 minute and 10 seconds before I see anything on the screen, and another 40 seconds before something else is shown on screen. Note: In order to not to have to waste time pressing F8 and choosing Safe Mode, I enter safe mode by specifying so in msconfig. The options I chose were /SAFEBOOT and Minimal.

2) After I login, there is a delay of about 30 to 45 seconds before the desktop is shown. Windows stays at the login confirmation screen during that time. This I feel has happened recently.

After the Windows 10 April 2018 update, my Lenovo Yoga 3 14 laptop is not starting immediately. It's not boot-up delay, it's a device start-up delay like after pressing the power button, just keyboard back light blinks once and nothing will happen and it's taking 35 to 40 seconds (earlier it's 1 to 3 seconds) after pressing the power button to show Lenovo UEFI screen along with Windows loading animation (this boot-up is quick like earlier versions about 5 to 7 seconds). Re-installed the complete OS (clean install) and re-installed the BIOS (Version BACNA0WW and BIOS date 07/15/2016). But nothing helps. Changed to earlier version of windows with clean install (the one with creators update, but issue not resolved.) Formatted complete drive and cleared all partitions (including OEM) and installed on a fresh partition, re-flashed BIOS, but nothing helps. Later I thought about hardware issue. Opened laptop, removed display connector, cleaned and attached, but issue not resolved. So, it's not a new Windows issue and It might be a problem with BIOS and it needs to be updated. Since my laptop is mote than 3 years old, Lenovo probably don't bother about updating this BIOS. Any solution that I missed? Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
Very strange problem with my IE7 on Win XP system (Fujitsu Siemens laptop Xi1546 btw).

Basically, so far ive only noticed it on those 2 sites but essentially the problem is, certain links on the site, when clicked, do nothing.
Youtube for e.g. the videos always have a 10 minute delay before they load. Regardless of time of day, whether im using GB youtube servers, or the kind of video, OR even if i change go home and use my home internet, same problem: 10 minute delay before the video loads. This must mean a setting which has gone awry? Metacafe works fine and it also uses Shockwave so why does my laptop hate youtube?
Also if i click to change servers on youtube, e.g. choose youtube UK, IE just 'loads' the page but stays stuck. Other websites work fine so its not a temporary lack of internet thats causing this.

Facebook is really bad and has the same 'loading but stuck problem.' I post messages on walls and it stays stuck but if i click profile, that loads instantly and it says ive posted..? I cant goto the groups page, or events, it just stays stuck and wont load. ive had this problem for about a couple of months..

overall i think its a setting for my IE, but what do you think? really appreciate help, really fed up.

Hi, I have a very frustrating problem that just reared its ugly head last night. My computer started hesitating every few seconds, freezes, then starts the cycle all over again. It's difficult to do anything: browse the internet, use applications, or even type this post. I have not added any new hardware or programs recently except I upgraded Firefox last week but it has been running fine up until last night. Plus I uninstalled Firefox and it is still doing the same thing. I have Windows XP home version. So far I have deleted several programs and many other things from my computer that I could do without, I've checked my page file to see if it was correct and it was at the suggested amount, I scanned it with Norton's and it found no viruses, I scanned with Malbytes Anti-Malware and it found nothing infected, I opened up my hard drive case and cleaned/blew out the dust however it wasn't that dirty since I do this on occasion, I made sure my memory was not slipping out, I tried to defragment but my computer said that I do not need to at this time, I restored my computer back to a previous date. None of these things have made a difference. I was sure at least restoring it back would do the trick but it did not.
I'm confused to what the problem is and through my research can't seem to figure this one out on my own.
Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone had similar problems?

This happens in every application, whether it's hulu, facebook, playing a fully downloaded file with media player. I have tried to fix this but to no avail. This is a list of what I have tried (I probably forgot a few things):

- run IE9 with no add-ons
- run IE9 in 64bit mode
- tried the above 2 in safe mode
- deleted the registry keys corresponding to Spybot, even though it's not installed
- uninstalled and reinstalled IE9
- "regsvr32 actxprxy.dll" in an admin cmd
- reset to default settings in the advanced tab
- tried with GPU rendering on and off
- ran Malwarebytes and found nothing

I have a Q9400, 8GB RAM, Radeon 6850, and a SSD for my W7x64 Ultimate; so my computer is blistering fast. Any more ideas? Thanks

However, out of nowhere, it suddenly began starting up in between 2 and a half minutes to 3 minutes. I am completely baffled, and I do not know what is wrong. Could it have been something I installed, or is it something that is beyond my knowledge. The last things I downloaded before the problems started were Starcraft II, Need for Speed World, and Microsoft Security Essentials, but I doubt one of those is the source of problem. Much help is greatly appreciated.

Run msconfig and uncheck everything on the startup tab except your anti-virus.

Then restart and let us know if the problem persists or goes away. If it goes away, the culprit is one of the items you unchecked.

Check for Malware with a reliable & trusted malware detector and same with antivirus.

Make sure you don't have a load of unecessary stuff starting with Windows.

Run the Disk Defragmenter on the system drive (usually C)

If none of that makes any difference, you may have hidden malware so please post on the malware forum for expert advice:

For a few days now my Dell Inspiron has been lagging/freezing every few minutes for a couple of seconds.

It seems to be happening no matter what i'm doing on the laptop - playing music, playing a game and even when it's idle. The whole system freezes and if there is audio playing it makes a strange buzzing noise. Any video playing freezes and the mouse freezes too. It is only for 2 seconds at most and isn't effecting the running of the laptop, it's more of an annoyance.

I've run a full scan with Avast! and Malware Bytes. Malware came up clean, Avast! found a few low level things that have been deleted or moved to the chest/vault.

I've also run ChkDsk, which found a few errors and, i'm assuming, fixed them. I left it running over night as it took a few hours to complete.

Any help or advice is hugely appreciated!!

Alright I may not be the most computer savy person around but I've always managed to find and repair computer problems (with the exception of crashed HDDs) but this problem is odd and is driving me NUTS!

Symptoms:
Gaming HD

When I'm just on the desktop (no high demand programs/games) the computer cursor freeze (stutter) for 0.5 to 2.0 seconds every 5 to 10 seconds. Additionally the USB mouse occasionally disconnects/reconnects (with windows notification sound). I have moved USB mouse to different ports with no change. This makes it almost impossible to do anything. However youtube, netflix and DVDs (VLC) play without interruption during the stuttering.

The same occurs when playing any game only the screen freezes as well.

The same stuttering occurs on a completely separate HD which is in no way connected to the pure Gaming HD. (points to more of a hardware problem I think)

This started late last week and the only major change I did was installing homeworld remastered however I really don't think that is the cause as the separate HD also stutters.

Attempted Troubleshooting:
-The CPU and Vid Card were both pretty dusty so I took them out, cleaned and re-applyed thermal paste on the CPU --> no change to stuttering

I have an inferred temp gun and cleaning the dust did improve the temps (slightly) but no effect on the stuttering.

-Memory Diagnostic --> no problems

Much help is greatly appreciated. :)

A:Startup time from 75 seconds to 165 seconds. What is wrong?

Hi, welcome to TSF

Of the 3 new programs you've recently installed, Microsoft Security Essentials is the most likely to affect the boot time. Check its options to see if it's set to scan at startup, and post back with the startup list from msconfig.

I have a Toshiba M500 laptop, running Ubuntu 16.04. I operate wirelessly with modem and router. Just today I started getting message: Disconnected from Wireless. This lasts about 3-4 seconds and connection is established again for maybe up to a minute. Seems to be cycling more often as time goes by. Help anyone?

The computer is constantly stopping for 15 seconds and then continuing for 10 seconds.

My computer was new mid-May '03 and when I installed Roxio Easy CD Creator 6.0 I began to have a lot of problems... and ultimately uninstalled it.

The Roxio program caused about 20 Windows XP (looks like backups) in the Control Panel add/remove program (one of them I cancelled).

I have XP -30 GIGs, 4 drives (32FAT a portable pocket drive & NTFS) plus I have a portable pocket drive.

Does anyone have problems with XP and Roxio Easy CD Creator?
Thanks for any help.

Really, I can't think of any reason why this should be happening. It really ruins videos to have this happen. Any ideas?

hi,

windows 7 x64 on my laptop (intel core i5 @ 2.50ghz, 4 gb ram) has recently started freezing for a few seconds every few seconds, when i'm doing just about anything: browsing the web, copying files, using text redactor, etc. only the mouse cursor responds, control is back after a couple of seconds.

* the behaviour remains the same when booting in the safe mode
* there are no cpu or memory usage peaks in process explorer
* there are no hardware conflicts in device manager
* there are no critical errors in system log
* there is no antivirus active
* hardware tests (memory, etc.) do not report any errors

i suspect this has started after i've updated all the drivers from manufacturer's site, but i am not 100% sure. anyway, i do not know which driver has caused this and i cannot easily restore to the previous state.

how do i find the culprit?

mine did that and found out it was the search engine I was using .. I was using Google and now use Bing and it no longer does that...

Hi did you get the drivers from the laptop makers site do they have a older version of your video driver which you could try this is really trial and error to find the culprit but since it is freezing the video driver is as good a place to start

Pretty much the title here. Except sometimes it will work just fine if I'm not doing too much. The startup also hangs after the splash logo to the login screen for about 10 seconds. In build 7000, there was no lag at all. Any ideas? Driver suggestions? Not sure....

Thanks!

A:RC hangs ~every 4 seconds for about 2-3 seconds

Hello Iceman, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You may just have a corrupted or bad installation. You might try a clean install to see if it will run better for you this time around.

I have searched a lot, and found no one that had the same problem. Maybe similar, but not identical. Since I built my PC (very first one I might add) I had no problems like this, but lately, it's been acting crazy. I am just doing my stuff, minding my own business, when all of a sudden, everything stops and is unresponsive for a few seconds. Things work again for maybe 5 seconds, and stuff freezes once more. And it's not always everything, sometimes maybe my internet browser will freeze, maybe an opened folder, maybe a tab in Google Chrome, sometimes 2 things out of 5 running, sometimes a portion of a program, like I can't scroll down, but I can click on things. When audio plays, it starts to repeat like a scratched CD, and things become unresponsive. When I turn off audio, everything runs smoothly either for a couple hours, or a couple of seconds. I scanned my PC for viruses, nothing, scanned for malware, had a few entries which I cleaned, but didn't help, defragmented my PC, which didn't help at all, and I ask you, what may the problem be? I try to avoid formatting, for I suspect (and hope) it's hardware problem. I have 2GB RAM, Asus mobo, which probably causes all the problems like it always does, Geforce 9600 graphics card, AMD athlon x2 dual core. I tried the obvious, just as turning off background programs, checking unnecessary things in processes, and ran out of ideas, so I want to know if there is a known solution to this.

Thank you
Daniel

How long has it been since you took a can of compressed air and blew the dust bunnies out of the heatsink and fans in that case? If you have not done that, this should be the first thing you do. You also need to list all specs.

I'm new to your board and a novice PC user too. I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm running Windows XP Home Edition. My wife likes to listen to music on cmt.com. We had Norton AntiVirus 2004 and Norton Firewall 2004 previously and I had to write some firewall exceptions to allow the music to play. All was well until my subscription ran out and I installed Norton Internet Security 2005. I re-entered the exceptions and I can get to the music site ok, but when I select a song and click play, the song will only play about 5 to 8 seconds, then it will pause and show that it's buffering. Once buffering gets to 100%, it will play another 5 to 8 seconds, pause, buffer, and it will repeat for the whole song. Maddening! I've sent several e-mails to Symantec (Norton) support, but they don't seem to understand the problem... their response is "we're sorry you can't access the website...", so they have been no help. I have tried turning off NIS, but the problem persists. Could the installation of NIS2005 changed some settings in the PC? I'm at a loss. I have poked around in the control panel and WMP and have increased the buffering time from 5 econds to 30 seconds, but it didn't help. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

I sent my desktop into HP to get fixed 5/6/16 i was supposed to get it back like 5/13/16 but week after week I keep getting a new shipping date of course it never ships on this date. And people say time warner and sprint have the worse customer service. Clearly none of these people had the misfortune of buying a HP. No chat service and they do thier best to hide any customer support phone numbers. And when I do call they put you on hold, transfer you from department to department before someone just drops your call. I can't even find out what is actually wrong with my computer or get a refund. Thankfully I keep my Mac but the fact HP would leave me without a computer for over a month with no updates means I will never buy from HP again.

Have you run Spyware, Adware scans ? Are you Anti-malware programs up to date ? I suggest going to the security forum and read all the stickies and general infos and follow them. If they find something (or not) then post a HJT log and let the security experts remove anything that might slow your system down.

Okay, there's a game name Maple Story. In this game you must press Z to loot an item. It becomes a little bit of a hassle when you must do this like 30 times in a row. So I wondered if anyone knew of a program in which lets you spam a key by simply pressing it once and holding it down. It would be a great convenience if there is such a program. I would really appreciate it if someone in this community could help me with my little dilemma.

PS. My delay is set to short, and repeat rate is on fast. Also, I'm on a XP computer from dell.

~Thanks!

Hi chuckracer.

Lets see what is starting up with your machine.

Please download Autoruns. After you download the zipped folder on your desktop, right click the zipped folder and click Extract All. After the folder has been extracted open the regular folder. Run the autoruns.exe program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator. When you open the program click the Logon Tab and then post a screenshot of all the startup entries in your next reply.

Then download ShellExView and disable all non Microsoft shell extensions and see if the right click menu delay improves.

The first day I received this new computer, I noticed a very noisy liquid cooling system.  It was audible in the next room.  I knew that I could not live with it forever but also had projects requiring completion and so lived with it.  I also noticed periodically the temperature would skyrocket for a few minutes before cooling back down.I had purchased the extended warrantty and finally began making arrangements in August, 2016 for repair.I see I'm not the only one reporting delayed repairs but this may be a bit longer than some others and there's no promise that it will end here.  HP received my computer on 9/28/16 and emailed an expected return date of 10/10/16. On 10/10/16, instead of receiving a computer, I received an email reporting a return delay to 10/17/16. On 10/17 with no computer, I contacted HP and learned there was now an unannounced delay.  The return would now be listed delayed to 10/26.  That's return date #3.On 10/24 with no shipping information, I contacted HP and learned "the part has been delayed" to 10/26 and so the computer would come back on 11/2/16 "or maybe earlier", return date #4.  It was going to take a week to complete the necessary extensive testing.   On 10/25 the return date was stil listed on 10/26 even though the phone call reported the return date would be 11/2/16.  Today 10/26, I looked on line and the original phoned return from 11/2/16 is now printed to be postponed to 11/1...
