I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I like PDF-Xchange, its main advantage being the built-in OCR functionality which can be quite handy.

Hi Ladies and Gents, my first time here.

I am trying to solve a problem where on 2 different machines refuse to open downloaded pdf's when this is selected at the open/save option after downloading. The 2 machines are both Win XP SP2. 1 is running Adobe Acrobat 7.0 (full) the other is running Reader 8.1.1.

On both, if an already saved file is clicked on it opens immediately. It is only on files being downloaded that the problem occurrs.

Any and all ideas gratefully received.

Hi all. I have one long Adobe PDF that was created by saving 28 different files as one. Each one has a separate person's name and separate ID tag. I tried to cut and paste each one separately and name them individually but all I did was create 28 copies of the original huge file. How do I create the original 28 individual PDF's again? PS. I did not create the original big PDF and I am not sure which version of Adobe was used.

OK, Long story short, I have a computer that had Adobe 7.0 on it, at some point it was upgraded to Adobe 8.0, but the original was not removed. I am attempting to use Alohabob to relocate some programs on a new computer, but I get and error message

"unable to scan C'\Program Files\Adobe\7.0\Reader\VDKHome\EDU"

I have uninstalled all Adobe files but this one will not uninstall or delete, it is a file folder only, nothing inside it, and yet it tells me it can not delete because a directory exists. I even went into Dos prompt, located the file, and it is empty except for two dir, . and ..

Nothing I do works, i even tried re - installing adobe 7.0, but it tells me the EDU is in use, I followed Adobe manual uninstall directions to the letter, but this one critter will not go away!!

Any ideas :>)

A:EDU File for Adobe 7.0 - Can not get rid of it

I'm assuming you are using Win XP...

A few things to try:

Launch Windows Explorer - navigate the folder tree to the folder you want to delete. Right-click on it and choose delete. While you're there, click on the Tools menu item on the menu bar in Windows Explorer. Choose Folder Options. Choose View. Look down the list in the window and make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is selected. There could be a hidden file or files that you will need to get rid of first. If that won't work....

Exit Windows Explorer. Click on <Start><Run>, type in msconfig and press enter. Click on the startup tab and see if it's listed there. Uncheck the box. Re-boot. If that won't work....

Click on <Start><Run> and type in msconfig again and press enter. Click on the Services tab. See if it's listed. Un-check the box. Re-boot

Good luck!

Adobe used to have a free product on their website that was like Cute PDF. It made it show up in printers and allowed you to save to a PDF file. They no longer

Adobe reading won't let you convert files, however, if all you want to do is save files in pdf format, there are a few convertors out there that will allow you to do it. If you want to stick to adobe, they have a program called Abobe Acrobat which might do the trick (it's not free however)

Dear mates , hope anyone got a solution for this problem.

I got it for around 1 year ago and have tried to get rid of it alone but it doesn't work.

The problem is that every .exe file open in Adobe Reader 6.0, lets say i want to open Mozilla. I double click it and I get the message:
''Adobe Reader could not open Mozilla.exe because its either not a supported file type or the file has been corrupted''

To avoid this I have to right click , choose Open as.. and then declick ''Secure my computer from non permitted functions. Then it starts as normal.

So if anyone knows/got a clue about what is wrong I would be very satisfied.

Best regards!

Adobe Reader is only for PDF files. To view PSD files you need something like Irfanview.

I bought adobe photoshop elements 6. Despite many tries, in the middle it stops gives error 1335. Says cabinet file data 1 cab is corrupt and cannot be used. Not true as it installed on my other computer just fine. I got so upset I restored my whole computer. (Had other odd issues too so thought it was a good idea). Computer working beautifully but still doing that with ADobe only! everything else zips in and installs.

I have tried the following:
1. copied it to C, then tried to install...same issue.
2. Copied the CD to the computer it installed easily on, then transferred it to a External Hard drive. Attached that to computer Im trying to get it on, and installed (in case CD Rom too sensitive or something), same issue.
3. I have no virus software running.

UGH! Making me insane!

As an total different aside, I downloaded versiontracker pro. Seemed like a good idea for drivers so when I tried to update Nividia driver for display...got scary message not tested for compatibility so I shut it. Did I waste my money on this? Thanks!!

A:Adobe Photoshop Corrupt Cab File

Regarding Versiontracker: Only you can say whether it's a waste of money.

I don't feel compelled to use every program I try, buy, or install...and neither should you. But if you see value in what it does for you, use it.

Regarding issues like you have with Adobe...first thing I would do is go to the Adobe site and see if there are any downloadable updates that may make the ride smoother.

I sent a guy a file that I downloaded from a publishing house-- and he said it was blank. I re-sent the file and the same thing happened.

I re-checked the file for a third time and it works great with Foxit Reader & PDF Xchange Viewer-- but I wondered what program he was using; so I tried Adobe Reader. Indeed, the file is not readable with Adobe Reader (version 8)

Getting the following error when attempting to open a .eps file in photoshop:

"Could not open the document because the parser module cannot parse the file"

Any suggestions? Can this file be converted to a .tiff file? If so, how?

Thx a lot for any help with this!

A:In Adobe Photoshop 5.0, .EPS file error

EPS files can be either vector or raster based. Photoshop might have problems with the vector based variant as it is a raster program. A vector file is usually small in kb for the size of the image.

Your best bet would be a vector based program like Illustrator or Corel Draw.

I don’t know how good a job it would do, but the freeware Irfanview with the plug-ins installed might be able to give you a decent TIFF. I think EPS files are usually CYMK and I have no idea whether Irfanview could handle that. I just looked in the Irfanview file associations and it lists EPS but with (TIF only) noted. Sounds like it won’t handle the vector version either but it might be worth a try.

I sent all three of them the same Excel file and when each of them converted the two using Acrobat 8 had a 10KB file size she is using Acrobat 6 and her PDF was 45 KB. I am thinking it has to do with the way each version converts the file but like I said I would love some confimation. If anyone knows about this and could confirm that would be great.

A:File sizes in Adobe Acrobat

I'm not sure I would worry about such a small size difference. It seems safe to assume that the difference is from diffrent compression methods used by the different versions.

I have seen an Adobe acrobat file become corrupted and dramatically increase to 10-20 times the normal file size (275K) - for no apparent reason. That's what I thought had happened to you upon reading your headline. Using Abbyy Transformer, I was able to convert the file back to Word, then I printed the file to PDF (using Acrobat Pro - 8.16). The new file size was 10K!

The older versions of Foxit reader are compatible with Windows 98. I'm not sure exactly at which point they ended support for 98 but you can try the different installers to find one that works for you.

Now with Foxit Reader, you don't have to endure pain any more.
The following is a list of compelling advantages of Foxit Reader:
Incredibly small: The download size of Foxit Reader is just a fraction of Acrobat Reader 20 M size.
Breezing-fast: When you run Foxit Reader, it launches instantly without any delay. You are not forced to view an annoying splash window displaying company logo, author names, etc.
Annotation tool: Have you ever wished to annotate (or comment on) a PDF document when you are reading it? Foxit Reader allows you to draw graphics, highlight text, type text and make notes on a PDF document and then print out or save the annotated document.
Text converter: You may convert the whole PDF document into a simple text file.
High security and privacy: Foxit Reader highly respects the security and privacy of users and will never connect to the Internet without users' permission. While other PDF readers often silently connect to the Internet in the background. Foxit PDF Reader does not contain any spyware.
WOW! That's impressive (to me) -- hope you find this useful too.

Are you looking to simply print a WEB page as PDF. I would then use the free BullZip PDF printer. The new version requires .NET The older versions, I forgot which, do not require .NET I would need to look it up if you want the non .NET version
If you want to edit and create PDF pages then I would look at Foxit Phantom PDF. It has a 30 day demo.
Also take a look at PDFXchange products.
