IE 11/windows 7, unable to type into some text fields.

Q: IE 11/windows 7, unable to type into some text fields.

My 8 year old son decided to download some Malware onto my computer while I was deployed the last few months.  Anyway Im running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and am having issues entering text into IE 11.  I believe the issue stems from PUP.Optional.MindSpark.
Im pretty sure I removed MindSpark completely by using MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware, and CCleaner to get rid of it.  I also have McAfee AntiVirus which didnt catch Mindspark.
So the problem now and when the PUP was on my computer is that I cannot enter text into text fields on IE 11.  Right now Im using Google Chrome and am having no issues with it, but I would like to get the IE 11 problem fixed.  Also as a note if I run IE 11 as an administrator it acts normal, but as soon as I close the browser and reopen it, it stops working again.  A couple of things I have done that wound up with no results include:  Restoring Internet options to default, turning off protected mode, and ran a Windows system performance scan.  Also Ive made sure everything on my computer has the latest and greatest updates.
So hopefully somebody here can help me out.

Preferred Solution: IE 11/windows 7, unable to type into some text fields.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am running Vista Premium SP1 on a Dell Inspiron E1505. I have a new problem where I can not enter any text in any browser field, IE or FireFox. The text field appears but I can not click on the field and enter text. I have tracked the problem to a corrupt or imcompatible dll called mshtmled.dll located in c:\windows\system32 folder.

How do I extract and install this dll with any of it's related dll's in Vista?

Hi there i have a bit of a PC issue that i am looking into.

When using internet explorer and a site for example ebay. It will only let me populate the Username Field, But when i try enter the password the field doesn't allow any data to be entered. This happens for other programs outwith Internet Explorer too.

The OS is Windows XP

What would cause this to happen?

A:Unable to Type in some fields

Press Tab instead of enter when you want to move to a password or other field in a form. Pressing enter pretty much means that all fields are complete (like pressing "Send" or "Submit" yourself).

I recently started using my brothers computer because it's faster then mine. I brought it into my room, and plugged my own mouse, keyboard, monitor, etc. into it. However I took the video card (ATI Radeon 9250) from my old computer and installed it into his becase it's better. When I turned the computer on and installed the driver for the video card, I had an unusual problem. I was unable to highlight any text on the computer, and I was unable to type into text boxes such as the Google search bar or even the one used to change passwords in the Windows User Accounts. No text field will work, it won't even let me click into them (the flashing line doesn't show up, indicating I can type).

I have tried everything to fix this, I used my brothers mouse, keyboard and monitor, I've updated the video card driver, ran virus scans, but nothing. And now when I remove the new video card and use the one with the computer (I uninstalled the drivers as well), it still won't work. It was never like this before, did I somehow permanently damage the computer? I was very careful when I put in the video card. I have never heard of this problem before, and it's driving me insane. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I don't know and it may sounds strange but lately I encounter problems importing greek text in internet explorer's text fields.
For example when I import text in google's search bar in english I have no problem. But when I import a greek word (in Greek Google or English google) I see chinese (^&#@) characters. Therefore I cannot search anything in Greek.
I have the same problems filling forms in Greek.
I can write Greek in all other microsoft programs (word, excel, outlook express).
I forgot to mention I run IE6 on win2000

For instance, if I highlight a word in a text-entry field, it's a very bright blue. This is also true in Firefox, Thunderbird, Word, OneNote, various fora, etc. but not in Excel.

Prior to installing Windows 10, the highlight in a text-entry field was either pale grey (on dark backgrounds) or darker grey (on light backgrounds), which is what I'd like to have back.

Any ideas?

Are you talking about doing this, but with gray and not red?

Open up Notepadcopy the registry settings in the code box(left click 3 times slowly)Paste into NotePadYou will need to find the RGB values(if the ones I have supplied are not what you want) for the color you want, and change them.Create a registry file by saving(to Desktop or Documents) as TextColor.regDouble click the reg file.Sign out, sign in and your finished. To change the values just right click the file and choose edit, make the changes, save, close and see point #6

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

One of our office computers won't allow the user to type in the search fields or log in fields within IE on any website. Can't search on Google, Yahoo, can't log in on hotmail or other online applications that we use at work. In addition to this issue; when I open Control Panel I get a script error, the icons on Add/Remove Programs are very small with no description of what the icons represent and if I try to udate Windows it tells me that it needs to install addiotional files to update the system but it gets locked into a loop where it installs then tells me that it needs to install the same files. I can't run a Panda scan because it asks for my e-mail address and I can't type into the field. When trying to run a Kaspersky online scan it won't update the new virus definitions which is an automatic action. When I try to run HouseCall it tells me that there is another HouseCall running and closes the prgram. There is no indication in Task Manager of two HouseCalls running. Ewido found some problems corrected them but didn't fix my problem. Replaced the mouse and did a restart so those won't work. The computer was running fine one evening and when we came in the next day it was acting this way.

i have created a form in word, adn i want it to be read only for most of the form. However, i do want certain fields to allow users to type in. Is there any way that i can easily do this. i know that this may seem kind of vague, let me know if you need any other info.

A:MS Word; only type in certain fields

Too bad there's not a strikethrough text format. Anyway, ignore the stuff in red.

This is a common question that has no easy answer. There is no way to permanently lock the text of a document while leaving the fields open. There are some workarounds, such as using a background graphic instead of body text.

I don't know what I was thinking about when I wrote that, but it wasn't forms. It might have been converting a PDF document to a protected Word form. Another of Dreamboat's articles.

If you search the forums for something like Word form protect text, you might get some hits. The question gets worded differently from time to time, so play around with the search criteria until you get a thread that works for you.

Here are a couple of similar threads (searching word form lock text):

And here's a link with some general info. Thanks to Dreamboat for that.

I'm not sure what to do here...

After downloading Explorer 8 (and updating Windows) I am unable to type in any field below the top pane. (I can type text just fine in my google search field and the url field)

I un-installed Explorer 8 (which re-installed Explorer 7) with no improvement.

I noticed that after completing the Windows update (I have Service Pack 3) my Anti Virus (Zone Alarm) had been blown away. I had to re-install it. I've since learned that I should disable anti-virus software prior to doing Windows updates.

Is this a virus?

Hello Group,

Suddenly I am unable to type into form fields.

I have to trick it by writing the text in an e-mail, copying that, then right-click and paste into the form field - even to login here I had to do that - nothing happens when I try to type into the field.

Environment: Windows 7 Home Premium
Asus PC

Hope someone can help. Thanks for looking in.

A:Suddenly can't type into form fields

Problem partially solved. Still have no clue as to why I could not type into form fields, even logons, google ... but a simple re-boot and now I can enter text into form fields. However, sporadically I lose control of positioning - sometimes the arrows stop working, and sometimes I cannot change position in the form by moving the cursor. What is going on?

I'm having exactly the same problem. I want to insert data into the text form field, but I do NOT want the text in the document to move out as I type. I want the data to fit in the underlined space I've provided, without bumping out the characters outside of the form field area. It's been suggested I use the "fixed column width" but that isnt an option I have available. I have Windows XP Professional version 2002, using Windows 2003. Hey all

Searched the WWW for an answer and I have only found one thread even remotely close to this issue.
Basically, every input field is reverse contrast. Black background typing white. Microsoft Word, Excel, IE, File Explorer, Google Chrome. Anywhere requiring selection of icons or input of text... The contrast is reversed. (four screenshots attached) Minor major annoyance, but it came accompanied by a more consistently running fan and then the computer began to freeze intermittently. I ran Malwarebytes. I ran Norton. I adjusted so Windows did not pick display prefs auto, then back again. I booted in Safe Mode, issue still there. Re-installed all sorts of drivers, repaired Windows, etc. I system restored. Issue still there. I system refreshed, Issue still there...

I literally have no programs on my computer right now except the basic out of the box Windows 8 apps...and still the issue persists.

Any ideas? I appreciate any input

Hello, I use online accounting software (KashFlow) and part of entering invoices involves clicking into a date input field.  It is one of those where a little calendar shows when you click into the field.  You can also manually type a date into this field too. However. On my brand new Yoga 920 using Chrome and Firefox the date input fields are greyed out and a red 'no access' icon shows when you hover over them.  But you can still click it and the calendar pops up as normal.  The only difference is you can NOT type into them anymore. When the source for the page is viewed it looks like the fields have been designated 'readonly'. There is no such problem on any other computer I own, even when using Chrome or Firefox.  The date fields work perfectly well on these other computers - even on a Sony Xperia tablet I own. The only browser that works properly on my Yoga is Edge.  The date fields work as they should.  It's just Chrome (my main browser) and Firefox where they don't work. This seems like a Lenovo-based problem.  A little Google has revealed a couple of similar problems with other Lenovo users. Does anyone have any clue on how to fix this?  This is utterly bizarre behaviour and it's preventing me from working properly. I have attached a photo showing the problem when using Chrome.  These fields should never be greyed out. Thanks,Matt

I upgraded my laptop to Win 8.1 a few days ago and everything seemed to be working fine. In an existing database, there are fields that have text I would like to separate (like first name and last name both in same field). Can this be done and how?

Thanks for your help!

A:Access - Can you separate text in fields?

Yes. You should probably start by reading up in Access help on the following functions:
InStr: Looks for a specific character, and returns its position in the string (data in text fields is called string data
Left([FldNm], x): Returns the leftmost x characters from a string
Right([FldNm], x): Returns the rightmost x characters from a string
Mid: Used to return part of a string, beginning from a midpoint, continuing a certain number of characters or to the string's end.

Access Help will explain to you how each one works in more detail. Basically, you test a field for a space using InStr; InStr will return 0 if it doesn't find one, or a position number if it does. If my name is "Joe Kool", for example, InStr will return 4. You then use Left() and Right() or Mid() to separate out the strings.

Let us know what more we can explain.

I have an Access database where the data is being input in Access and displayed by Lotus Notes. Originally I had a number of Yes/No fields e.g. "Outside Storage" in the table. The person doing the Notes interface requested that I change these to Text fields which I did. The table values remained as Yes or No when I did this. The input forms kept their check boxes when I did this but as one enters data via the checkboxes the values are 0 and -1. If I delete the field from the form and add it again it comes as a text box which then displays Yes or -1, etc depending what is in the table.
The Notes person says data tables should not contain Yes/No fields or Combo Boxes like solid/liquid. My question is what is the best way to handle this assuming the Notes developer wants text fields in the table? Should I delete all the checkboxes from the forms and replace with text boxes showing Yes or No? Right now I have the validation of the table set to accept yes, no, 0 or -1. Finally, is the field on the form able to be changed back to a checkbox without changing the table field back to a Yes/No field? It seems as if the type of field placed on the form is inherited from the table.

Earlier I was playing an online game (Final Fantasy XI) when my screen began to behave strangely. I logged out, and then noticed that a TextPad window I had open began to fill with "+++++++++++++++++++++++" as though the plus key was stuck. I checked my keyboard (Logitech wireless LX710) and didn't see any obvious issues.

None the less, I shut-down the computer, swapped keyboards with my other PC and booted up again. The problem did not follow the keyboard, it remained on my first PC.
I tried a corder USB keyboard, and it does the same thing. Initially I can sometimes login because the "+++++++++++++" begins - but it is hit and miss. I generally need to reboot 2-3 times before I can login.

I have removed the Logitech software and installed the latest edition.

I have run McAffee and Spyware Doctor, but nothing was found.

Does this sound like any Virus, Trojan or Worm anyone has run across?

A:Virus? Text fields fill with +++++++++++

Meh... it was mouse-related.

After much swapping of gear, several virus scans, and copying a ton of data from the "bad" PC to my other PC (just in case), I tracked the issue down to my Logitech MX700 mouse.

I had swapped-in a corder mouse earlier, but apparently I was too hasty in eliminating the mouse as the issue.

Now I am back up a running, with my cordless keyboard - no issues. Just using a vanilla Dell corded mouse for the time being, until I can determine if the MX700 is salvageable.

I have an Access database to manage inspection checklists. I use the question references to sort the checklists so that the questions appear in the same order as the books they come from. I use two fields for this, one for the book, a second for the paragraph. The paragraphs in the book are numbered, with subsecitons and sub-sub sections, ex: Of course, Access doesn't sort these as numbers - so any reference that has a 10 in it is sorted before 2. I used the following code to break the references into separate digits: (only the fifth place is shown here, but the rest are similar)

Part V: Val(Mid([Ref2],InStr(InStr(InStr(InStr(1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")+1,InStr(InStr(InStr(InStr(InStr(1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")-InStr(InStr(InStr(InStr(1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")+1,[Ref2],".")-1))

The problem is, if a reference has less than 5 sections (say 14.6), the third through fifth colums read "#Error". This makes it impossible to sort, giving an "Invalid procedure call" error.

Is there a way to either assign a zero to the "#Error" cells, or to make a sort ignore them? I'm not extremely proficient with Access, but am learning as I go.

Recently I was on a popular domain registration site attempting to change an email account name for one of my domains. About three or four keystrokes into the name change, my computer began filling the text with 666's. I immediately logged out and and rebooted thinking that it might have been a stuck key or something. Everything appeared to be fine until I got to another point where I was going to fill in a text field. I discovered that wherever I focused, any text field would get filled in with sixes.

I ran a virus scan with a recently updated copy of McAfee....didn't turn up any viruses...even the rootkit check got a clean bill of health. So, I decided that a rebuild of the OS using the system recovery disks that came with the machine was in order. The install went fine until I after the reboot and I started to filling the computer name...and you guessed it, it was being filled in with sixes.

Hi, All,

I am using Excel 2007 and have a table with 3 columns: StudentID, Test, and Score. StudentID is a number and Test and Score are text values -- score is sometimes a pass/fail and sometimes a number, so this is why this is text.

I use pivot tables all the time for numeric values. Is there a way to do this with text? What I am hoping to do is show StudentID as my row value, Test as my column value, and put the scores in the middle.

Thank you!

Additional Details: ______________________________________________

When the program creates text fields for this particular section, it invariably creates four text fields- one shorter one after the phrase "Additional Details:" and three others for the three blank lines below.

My question is as follows: How do I make it so that when a person fills in the first line it will then automatically jump to the following line? Is there a way to "link" the four lines together? The way I have it now, the user fills in the first line, then the user must tab to the next, fill that one, tab to the next, and so on. This prevents people from simply typing their answers, which is an unfortunate hinderance.

I tried setting a field up on my own, creating it so that one large field covers the entire area. However, it does not line up properly with the lines that are already there on the page- and it looks awful.

I wish there was some sort of link or merge for these four text fields. Perha... Read more

Hi all

My friend is having problems with her Thinkpad. Frequently when entering text into a search or password field the system will freeze. This even happens in the windows Run input field. Does anyone have any suggestions, instructions or know what direction I should be looking to solve this problem?

Her Thinkpad runs winxp sp 3
We have already run Symantec av, spybot, and malwarebytes software. The Laptop had Vnrblock21 and virtumonde according to these programs. The problems have been removed and scans are coming back clean as of today. We have also run disc cleanup and the defrag tools windows provided. We also used CCleaner to clean temp files and the registry.

Any help is appreciated.

A:Computer freezes when inputting text to fields

Have a look in the Event Viewer for any errors at the time of the freezes. To open the Event Viewer go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer. Alternately, go to Start > Run and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter.Check in all the categories. If you find an error that occurred at the time right-click on it and select properties. Copy the information in the window and post it back here. This will help us diagnose your problem. How To Use the Event Viewer

In a Word 97 merge, I have a field that I would like to only print the first 4 characters of, instead of the entire field. How can I do that?

For example, the field contains "Smith, John" but I only want the first 4 characters to be printed: "Smit"

A:Formatting Text Fields in Word97 Merge

If your source comes from an Excel spreadsheet, you could add a column with the formula =LEFT(A1,4). Label the column Truncated and use that column for your Merge Field.

Otherwise, unless Dreamboat knows, I have no idea how to edit the Merge Fields.
