Q: Inspiron 17 7737 Touch screen suddenly stopped working...

So out of nowhere, my 7737's touch screen has stopped responding to touch. Mouse works just fine. Device manager has the monitor driver listed as a "generic PnP monitor", which sounds suspicious... and under Human Interface drivers, there is nothing listed for touchscreens, just airplane mode ***... I have restarted, driver updated, etc. to no avail. Any ideas?

I've had my Inspiron 17 for 4 months and noticed today that the touchscreen isn't working.
No idea how long ago the problem started as I generally use the old desktop/touchpad combination
When checking PC settings it now says 'no pen or touch input is available for this display.'
Any ideas

I purchased Dell Inspiron i7  7737 (Windows 8.1), due some problem I do the factory reset. Since then my touch screen is not working and graphics with HD are also not working. All the drivers are properly installed. Dell support assistant also shows all in OK.

I have a refurbished DELL  Inspiron 7737  , the problem is with de touch screen (17.3) that came out, unsticked.
I notice the problem  when iI started the web camera that something was wrong, it was off from his possition and now every time I close the laptop the touch screen poppes out of its place.
Can anyone know how to fix this?

Hi everyone, I have a Lenovo X220 Tablet that has touch screen and pen. They suddenly stopped working today. The LCD screen still works pefectly fine, however. The touch screen is enabled on the touch settings. When I try to calibrate, it does not detect my finger or the pen. I also noticed that when I tried to reinstall the driver and it said "a supported tablet was not found on this system". I have the most recent bios. I am running Windows 7 that came with the laptop. All windows updates completed. Is it possible for the digitizer to be defective, but the LCD screen to work perfectly fine?Could it be just a ribbon failure?Which part would need to be replaced, if this is the case? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Even though it looks like a single device, it is really 3 separate ones.  There is a basic panel.  There is a static discharge digitizer in the front to sense finger touches.  There is a second Wacom digitizer behind the panel to detect the pen.  Any of them can fail.  The wires in the cable can also crack.  Since both digitizers failed, I would first look in device manager to see if there could be a problem with a USB hub.  (digitizers both connect as USB devices.)  My next guess would be the cable.  Sorry I cannot be more definite.

I even did a restoration of the whole computer and the touch screen hasn't started working. I started having issues when I checked into the Device Manager and noticed that under Human Interface Devices the HID Touch screen (along with a few under it) were marked as "hidden". When I did the restore I thought it would fix the problem but it only seemed to completely get rid of it?
Instead of it being marked as hidden the only things I have under Human Interface Devices is the two options for Airplane Mode Switch. 

There is no touch so Calibrate isn't effective
The pen and touch option keeps saying it is unavailable
Turning it off and on doesn't work

the touch screen on my 3147 stopped working. Has been fine up till now with no issues. I have made sure all the drivers are up to date. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this? Is there some setting I've messed up or missing?

Try the steps below and let us know if issue persists.
1. "Press Windows" key +"C" to select the search option
2. In the search box type "Device Manager" and click on it.
3. Select the "Human Interface Devices", in that right click on "HID-compliant touch screen" and select "Uninstall"
4. It will display the warning message "you are about to uninstall this device from your system" click ok
5. Restart your computer and the driver should install on its own.
Check for the functionality and let me know if issue persists.

Hi There,
I bought Dell Inspiron 13 5368 2-in-1 a few months ago, the laptop was one of my favorite laptops ever, hence, I was using it heavily.
Sadly, the touchscreen stopped working suddenly without obvious reasons. Everything else is normal. I checked the screen or the laptop for any possible physical damage but I could not find anything. the screen is working totally fine but the touchscreen functionality is dead.
I reinstalled the device drivers without success. I have also checked the power management options and did the diagnostics.
I don't prefer to send the laptop back to dell because all my applications and files are in this laptop. 
Could you help me out find the problem, its driving me nuts :/

My touch screen on my Dell laptop has not been working for over a year. I cannot recall if there was a specific update/change which triggered the touch screen to stop working, however it has now been over a year and I have no idea why it isn't working. 

I have tried: 
1. Restarting laptop
2. Troubleshooting hardware and devices 
3. Disabling/enabling HID-Compliant Touch Screen driver (the driver only appears when I show hidden devices. I cannot enable it and  when I try to update it, it says it is already up to date). Also, when I click on properties for the driver , it says "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45) To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."
4. Uninstalling/reinstalling HID-Compliant Touch Screen driver. This results in the driver being completely deleted and does not return when I restart the computer. 

I don't think I can do a restore as it stopped working so long ago, I wouldn't know what date to restore it to. 

Tablet PC Settings are also saying that "No pen or touch input is available for this display"

My P51 touch pad has suddenly stopped working. Hi - the touch pad on my Satellite Pro L870-18G (Windows 8) has suddenly stopped working (after less than 2 months' use) - which makes the laptop rather difficult to use. According to the device manager there is nothing wrong with the driver - but I tried to reinstall anyway (didn't help).

My Ideapad S415 touch screen has suddenly stopped working.  I've had a tech connect to my PC and try a BIOS reload of default settings, plus unistalling all "HID" devices in Device Manager with no resolution.  I've also tried a system restore with no luck. The system properties does see the touch capability. Suggestions? Thanks.

First do a Power Drain 
     (If the battery is removable)
            Remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
               Turn the computer back on and see if the Touch capability is now detected under System Properties,
                  If not
         I suggest you contact Lenovo Technical Team about the Issue as this may be a device detection issue.

My touch screen stopped working in early October without myself doing any changes that I'm aware of. The Windows Anniversary update came at that time and might be involved.In the Device Manager, there is no touch screen under "Mice and other pointing devices". There is a "HID compatible touch screen" under HID, which I've tried to disable and to uninstall. It comes back after reboot, but still no function.It could of course be a hardware problem, but it's usually not.... /Andreas

It all started some weeks ago,atleast once in a day I would hear some bopping sound from my right speaker.When it started I would restart the computer and it would go away.but two days ago,it started then suddenly my speakers stopped working.I tried connecting my headphones there was still no sound.In just some time after the speakers went mute,i smelt something burning.i suspected it was my speaker so I smelt its location and surely the burning scent was coming from there.Now I am not really sure if my speakers burnt up or its something to do with the drivers.What can I do ? and if my speakers are really burnt,where can I get other ones specifically for my dell inspiron 3542 ? Hello. Dell does not sell spare parts. You have to go to someplace like ebay or the parts-people to get salvaged parts. I would choose the parts-people, which specializes in Dell parts.
You can get instructions for replacing the speakers by going to the Inspiron 3542 support page and clicking on "Manuals", right under the picture of the laptop. The one called "Owners Manual" is really a service manual and has the instructions for replacing the speakers.

If there is no audio through the headphones then something else is wrong bedsides just the speakers. Perform a system recovery (reset the laptop back to the original factory configuration). If there is still no audio through the headphones then you will probably have to replace the motherboard as well as the speakers. (Instructions in the Owners Manual).
If you prefer not to do that, consider getting an inexpensive usb audio jack, like this one from Amazon. These jacks are self-contained audio systems and will work despite the damage to the laptops internal audio. You just have to add headphones or external speakers.                           ... Hey, I have a Inspiron 15 3521 running windows 8.1 and touch screen just stopped working.  I tried updating drivers and downgrading drivers but no luck.  Tried Windows 10 but no change.  Tried adjusting power mgmt. settings and no change.  It seems like it is not detecting the touch screen and HID is hidden so no option it enable or disable.  Diagnostic does not see the device so does not attempt to run.There are tons of posts on this issue but I can't find any resolution.  Can anyone provide a fix?  A touch screen generally shouldn't just stop working and with all the issues I am thinking it is some sort of Dell or hardware issue?

Right before it stopped working completely random items started opening on the computer as if there was a phantom clicking on things. I thought it was a virus but none was ever found by many anti-virus scans and nothing else in the computer was harmed. Hi friends,New to the forum, and I'm hoping someone has a solution for me. I have been having an issue with my touchscreen... it doesn't respond at all. It had been working, and while I don't know exactly when it stopped, it's not working now. My HP Pavillion laptop touch screen stopped working several months ago and I have not been able to fix it. I have gone into the device manager as I have seen on other forums and my touch screen didnt even show up under human interfacing.   Hi @natalia1818, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I read from your posts that you are having an issue with your HP Pavilion 11x360 PC Notebook and the Touchscreen not working correctly. You might need to check that the Touchscreen is enabled on the Notebook. Here is a listing on how to do that: Press the Windows logo key + X.Select Device Manager from the list.Click the little arrow next to Human Interface Devices to expand the list.Click the touch screen driverRight-click, and select enable from the list.Confirm you want to enable. You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook. I suggest at least 4 days ago as it will make sure to catch what changed the settings. When performing a System restore please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices as they can cause issues. Please let me know how this goes. If this post helps you to resolve the issue you can click the Thumbs up icon to show gratitude! Thanks.

HP ENVY m6-n012dx Notebook PC My touch screen has worked for 3 years now. I have updated from Windows 7 to 8 to 10. Through all the updates, I have had no issues with the touch screen. Now, all of a sudden with no warning signs, the touch screen is GONE! The notebook appears to not be a touch screen when I know it is. I have looked for the driver, and there is nothing there. This morning my laptop started bugging out, it shows two mouse on the screen on in the bottom corner that is just there and the mouse I am using starts flashing and going in and out. I have had this system for around 3 weeks, and today the touch screen just stopped working for no apparent reason.
I have barely used the system since I received it (have been away), and so it is very unlikely it is due to anything I have done (I've installed virtually nothing except Microsoft Office).
I am reluctant to go fiddling with BIOS drivers, etc, given the repercussions that has had for some people elsewhere on this forum.
Any ideas please?
(I must admit I am disappointed to be having numerous issues in a top of the range computer at a premium price.)

I've had nothing but problems since my computer updated to windows 10, sadly I missed deadline to go back to windows 8.1. The touch screen barely worked after the update and has stopped working all together now. I've tried all trouble shooting suggested. After trouble shooting tried to call for support only to find out I'd have to pay because my computer is over 12 months old.

My laptop's touch screen function stopped working just a while ago. When I shut down my laptop, tere's this windows update that lasted for more or less an hour. After that, the touch screen just stopped working. Note that there hasn't been any program installation prior to the antivirus uninstallation - all programs and files contained in the laptop is as it was the moment I bought it. *Laptop's running Windows 8 Single Language

Last week (after a Windows update?) my Envy touch screen stopped working. I've read the instructions to uninstall / reinstall the drivers; however, in my list of "Human Interface Drivers" there are no drivers related to the touch screen (the only two are HID-compliant wireless radio and wireless button driver, nothing else). So my question - where do I go to FIND and INSTALL the correct driver for the touch screen? I assume that the missing drivers are the problem.  Searching for my laptop model and going to the available drivers, there is nothing there for a touch screen (?). I also tried to perform the UEFI Hardware Diagnostics tests to detect problems with the touch screen hardware -- looking under "Component Tests" there isn't even an entry for "Touch Screen". Help! I love having a touch screen and since it stopped working, I am no longer using my personal laptop. Thank you

Windows 10. I replaced the LCD screen/bezel assembly and the touch screen functionality isn't working. The screen works fine otherwise. I checked all of the cable connections and made sure they are seated firm and secure. I confirmed that the driver for the touch screen sensor is the most current one. I tried it with tablet mode enabled and disabled. Any help is greatly appreciated! THANKS!

Inspiron 13-5378  2 in 1. 8 gb RAM, 1tb hard drive. Received this laptop yesterday 1-20-17. Touch screen didn't work. I disabled the touch screen driver, rebooted then enabled the touch screen driver and it worked for a while. While installing software it stopped. tried several things including uninstalling the video driver. i downloaded the video driver from the Dell web site, installed it and the touch screen worked. I shut the laptop down and when i booted up this morning the touch screen was not working. Tried disabling the touch screen driver, rebooting and enabling it again. no luck. I then tried to reinstall the video driver, also no luck. can someone help or do I need to return?

Since no one from Dell has shown up yet, I will share my experience.  A couple of years ago I got a system with the Nvidia and Intel Display Adapters.  I noticed the Nvidia one would lose it drivers and would disappear from the Device Manager.  
The device was intermittent, although basically unusable, for a couple of months and then finally completely failed.  
If something is not dependable possibly the system is losing contact with the device.  Maybe it is only a connection problem or something worse, but at the very least I would start a conversation with support.

Hello I'm having issues with my touchscreen.Sometimes it's sporadic when touched, sometimes unresponsive, and sometimes flickers. Tech support keeps making me send in for repair but when it comes back I have same issues.Sent to tech support 6 times within six months already, replaced screen, replaced motherboard, update bios, and update drivers and a whole bunch of other tech support stuff. Does anyone have similar problems can share your experiences and fixes? At this rate tech support is going to keep doing the same thing until one year warranty expires. What are my options in regards to warranty if tech support is unable to fix defect issues?Thank you in advance for advice.
