Date Display in Internet Explorer

Q: Date Display in Internet Explorer

Is there something I can do to add the day of week name to the dates that Explorer displays in folder > files details display ?

Instead of 9/23/2016 11:08 PM, I would like it to display Fri 9/23/2016 11:08 PM

Even better would be Fri 23/Sep/2016 11:08 PM

Maybe I am asking too much, but it would be nice.

Thanks for reading.

Preferred Solution: Date Display in Internet Explorer

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Date Display in Internet Explorer

Yes, quite easily
This is in W8.1, but I am certain that it is the same in all other systems

first go to control panel & select language / then change date / time //number

set long date to bottom option. dddd dd MMM yyyy

Then select additional settings & select the date tab
in the short date box add dddd, to the start of the line & press apply, OK & exit out and when you next open explorer , you will have the entire date shown in all its glory

Hi.. I don't know if this is the right section, please correct me if it's wrong. Here is the problem:

My Internet Explorer 7 gives the error: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I cannot complete the troubleshooting. It states that there might be a problem with my firewall settings. But my Firefox works perfectly on this computer. I have completed all the steps given in this link. However, it didn't work. I cannot run MSN right now because of this. And this is not a problem that developed recently, on this computer I have never managed to run Internet Explorer.

And another point to mention: Whenever I try to visit a site via IE7, before giving "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error, on the status-bar I see a warning for a second such that a "dns error" or something.

I have also searched this forum for this, I have found some posts consisting HJT logs but could not reached a solution for my problem. Could you please help? Thank you.

I'd like to see Long Date and Long Time in my System Tray instead of Short Date and Short Time.
But due to some restrictions connected with my work I can not modify Short Date & Short Time to look how I want them to look in System Tray.
So basically I need Windows to show what is set as Long Date & Long Time in System Tray instead of showing Short ones.

Is it possible? Maybe some registry tweaks?

Good morning,
This may be a common error and a probably easy one to solve. But since I am not a computer expert I need your help please.
When I run the Network Diagnostics for Windows XP, it shows:
"Windows cannot connect to the internet using HTTP, HTTPS or FTP.
This is probably caused by firewall settings on this computer.
Check the firewall settings for the HTTP Port (80); HTTPS Port (443) and FTP Port (21).

I would like to clarify that I have not changed the firewall settings. This problem appeared after a run a deep MSE and showed me that I was infected with bacdoor:win32/cycbot.B.

Apparently MSE cleaned and removed the mentioned virus. The rest of the computer is working just fine but I cannot get it to the internet.

I do know for a fact that I have internet connection, since I have an network and I am writing you from another computer within the network.

Will someone be able to help me????? Please????

I have Windows Vista and if I ever have too many tabs open or am uploading files to a site such as mediafire.com then my internet explorer seems to give up. The uploading process will continue and msn meesenger will remain online, but any new tabs or IE windows i open will read the message "Internet Explorer cannot display webpage". As soon as I am done uploading a simple refresh will make those errors disappear. It is almost as though my internet cannot handle doing too much and gives up until i decrease the workload. I'm new to Vista. I have just connected my new laptop with Vista to my home network (XP). No dramas.

But when browsing the internet (IE7), certain websites won't load (eg Apple, Ninemsn, Microsoft). Eventually it displays "Internet Explorer can't display the webpage". When you diagnose connection problems - it finds no problem.

I have tried turning off firewalls (Vista), uninstalling my AV (NOD32), disabling Vista's autotuning (which booted my brothers computer off the network, but did nothing to mine).

I have tried to browse through Morzilla Firefox (but i can't load the website to download it!) and have tried disabling ADD ONs in IE. None of these change anything!

Anymore suggestions?

After letting my little cousin use my computer (Windows XP, Service Pack 3), he apparently uninstalled AVG and installed Avast, among other actions. Since then, I haven't been able to load any webpages through Firefox ("Server not Found") or IE ("Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Page").
My computer is communicating with my router (I'm sending packets), but I am not receiving many packets.
I've tried the following steps and none have worked (and I'm tired so this list is not exhaustive):
Turing on/off my router
disabling/enabling my wireless connection
ipconfig /flushdns
shutting down windows firewall
TCP/IP Reset
Winsock repair software
Doing virus scans with avast, Windows XP scan software
Cleaning the registry with CCleaner
Made sure DNS is started and is automatic

When I entered Google's IP address into my web browser I was able to open the designated webpage. I believe the suggestion was, through another forum, that I was having a problem with my DNS. I hope someone has an idea of what's going on.

First post for me...
Internet Explorer ceased working on my wife's PC months ago. "Internet Explorer can not display the web page" is its response to ANY URL. I ran the connectivity diagnostic which reports no problem. No surprise - Mozilla Firefox works fine on her PC. I've tried running a registry cleaner program to no avail. I upgraded her IE6 to IE7 and still no change. I'm writing this post because IE6 had worked on my PC up until this past week and now I get the same behavior as on her machine. I do not consider myself a novice with PCs but I am thoroughly stumped with this problem. The problem is not crippling, as we both use Mozilla Firefox, but it is an annoying problem that such a major component of the operating system is broken.

I think i may have figured out my issue. I know that P2P is not normally discussed here. But i think the problem with my browsers not able to connect to any pages is because i have the uTorrent program running. when i close out the utorrent program, IE8 and Google Chrome both connect right away. when i turn the utorrent program back on, i instantly get a "internet explorer cannot display webpage" page error. so easy fix right? my question, is there a way to get the programs to work at the same time? i dont have a router, its just my cricket broadband and my windows firewall.

Note: i have not done extensive testing, just a few minutes of turing things off and back on.

I was updating my GameTap application and I received a popup hacker alert from my Kaspersky AV that said "Someone is trying to change Internet Explorer" or something along those lines. "Allow or Block?" I chose "Block". Then another popup said "IEXPLORE.exe has been changed". I clicked to open the browser and received this message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" and at the bottom while the page was trying to load it says something about a dns error. I later found out that the GameTap update was supposed to change IE, to allow the app to be launched from the browser or something. Maybe by blocking it it messed IE up? Also, I noticed on a scan with Ad-Aware I had the IST toolbar, but I never noticed any effects of this malware and I scan every week so it wasn't on my computer for long. I removed the toolbar with Ad-Aware. Any ideas how to fix IE?

A:Internet Explorer Cannot Display The Webpage

As long as the GameTap addon is safe, try installing it again - and this time allow it. Make a note of what it says it's allowing/blocking and you'll be able to go into the Options and change it there if needed.

Also, Kapersky should have a log file that shows what actions that it blocked.

The following was put together mostly by etaf with a little help from me.

Atheros AR5007EG & AR5007
We have been seeing a lot of problems with the above adapters for about a year, mainly concerning WPA and WPA2 encryption and windows Vista.

The adapter gets an IP configuration, and shows as connected, but communication is non-existent or sporadic.

Log into the Router and disable the wireless security and see if you are now able to connect to the internet and surf OK.
--- Please post back here if that works or does not work.

Here are a number of possible solutions

--- 1) In Device Manager right click on the wireless adapter and "update driver." That apparently has worked for some posters.

--- 2) Download and install the latest wireless driver from your laptop manufacturer's web site support section, as some manufactures, appear to now have a working driver available.
Toshiba - update has worked for some PCs
HP The latest HP Atheros driver dated Sept 2010 has fixed the issue - so check the driver date, However, that does NOT apply to all HPs / Compaqs machines
- the poster did an online scan for driver updates on the HP website here HP Product Detection which resulted in a solution. Solved: Can't connect to internet wirelessly - Atheros AR5007 Wifi through Clear Comm - Tech Support Guy Forums

I am looking for some help! (and I am a complete novice!)

I get the above message when I am trying to access a website. The site is a portal that is work related. The dialog box comes up and I put in my username and password but after that I get the above message.

I had put it in my favourites and when I hover over it is says You are not authorised to view this page.

The office where I work out of - they give us space and allow us to link to their server. I tried on another machine there and it worked but on this machine it won't. I guess it must be something within my internet settings but have no idea what!

Any help would be appreciated!

Just a thought..

To add a trusted site in Internet Explorer:
From the Internet Explorer Tools menu, click Internet Options.
Click the Security tab, then click Trusted Sites.
In the Security level for this zone box, you may need to do one of the following:
If it is set to high, use the slider to change it to a lower security level.

If it is set to custom, click default level, and then use the slider to change the security level. NOTE: If you are running Windows Vista, verify that Enable Protected Mode is NOT selected.

Hello All, I'm a newbie here and I see from looking that you guys offer some great help.

I am in a bit of a bother. My Desktop PC at home has recently stopped displaying any Internet exploer pages (for the last week) and all I get displayed is the message "Internet Explorer Cannot display the webpage", however both Outlook Express works fine and I can send an receive email, and also MSN Messenger also works.

I use IE7 and running the network diagnostics from there seems ok,
(results of the one I just ran below) and doing a IPconfig /All is also ok (see further below) and I've tried suggessions on other post so I have no idea what might be causing it ?? I am using Zone Alarm 7 anti virus and fire wall and I've tried shutting this down as well in case this was blocking internet access but still to no avail ?

I cannot even get to my router page http:/ !!!!!!!

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Many Thanks

ReverseInternet.com provides you a service through which you can find other websites hosted on the same IP or that share same Google Analytics ID, Adsense ID or DNS. You get information about domains like .com, .net, .org, .info and also other country specific domains. The site has information about 73,000,000+ domain names. The service is completely free to use.

I realize that other threads have tackled this issue, however, none of those solutions have worked for me. Perhaps someone can evaluate my specific case. I am using IE 8 under Windows XP Pro, SP 3. Not many websites are affected, in fact, there is only one website I know of:

This site works perfectly on my wife's laptop which we use in the same house, same router.

And yet, on my computer I get the old, "internet explorer cannot display webpage."

I have already tried all the tricks, such as deleting all data, resetting internet explorer and re-installing it with firewall and anti-virus turned off. The problem still prevails. I have just run HijackThis and generated this logfile:

I have a wireless network at home with three machines that attach to it. All were working fine up until about one week ago. The one machine that is down, of course, is the kids and it happened while I was out of town, so I don't have the whole story about what happened.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the wireless card software. I also made sure that the firewall was off. I can VNC into it from my machine, so I know the wireless access is working. However, it cannot see "itself" in network neighborhood and it cannot access the internet.

Any other troubleshooting suggestions?

This problem has presisted for about a week now, my IE7 will not allow me to view web pages, however, if I were to type www.msn.com in the address bar, I am rerouted to google and I'm given search results for msn.com. When I click on the msn.com result I get the "IE cannot display web page error". I've done several system restores, I've deleted the security update 94453 like some recommended, I've turned off my firewall, done spyware checks, virus scans, and have come to find out nothing wrong with it. My laptop is able to surf the net just fine so it has something to do with my computer, but I am not sure what. Was wondering if anyone has had this happen, and if anyone could help. THanks in advance!

Run your computer in safe mode by hitting F8 when its booting, select "Safe Mode with networking" and try using IE in there, and report back.

OK, my internet explorer cannot access any web page. I get a message saying "Internet Explorer cannot access the webpage"

I have tried many webpages - none work.

I have tried to "Diagnose Connection Problems" - no problem found

I know my internet is working because Firefox works just fine.

The "Work Offline" is NOT checked under the file menu.

I have checked under Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings, and the Automatically Detect Settings is checked.

I have also checked the Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and the DNS Client is Automatic and Started.

I am running Windows Firewall, which I have disabled to test IE, to no avail.

I am running AVG Anti-Virus, which I have quit to test IE, to no avail.

Windows Vista Home Basic
Internet Explorer 7.0
AVG 8.0
Mozilla Firefox 3.0.6

any suggestions???

Is that the only page you are having problems with?

Open your hosts file and post all the the contents. To access the hosts file:
Start > Run > NOTEPAD c:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS

IE is having a problem opening links that is placed within most businesses web pages that I open.  An error is generated and it says: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."

When I open a new web page, I am able to open about three to four links and then the error displays again.  One of the site that I have to visit and the error is stopping me from visiting it is: "Verizon.com"  the first page is opened
but I cannot open any of their links that is within the first pages.
Could someone kindly send me an e-mail explaining what I need to do to correct this problem; or would it be something that MS will take care from the back end?  You can contact me at:[email protected] or call 301-445-1041.

I am using Windows 2000, Vista, and 7, with Internet explorer 9, and 10.

Thanks for your assistance.

hi. im new to this hijack this stuff.
my problem... I get the "Internet explorer cannot display webpage" error often.
at first, i thought that it was internet explorer not working because of Utorrent program running at the same time.
now turning that off, does make it work most of the time.
but i still have times where i cannot start IE8 RC1.
i also have Google Chrome, and sometimes that wont work either.
the only problem is that AVG update and windows update and utorrent all work. so i have a connection to the internet.
i am running an acer extensa laptop with vista home premium.
currently have cricket broadband internet.
my desktop has all of the same programs that this one does.
i have spyware pro and avg and ad aware.
i have tried maware bytes.
and have not had any viruses showing.
i am running behind windows firewall. i do not have a router.
i realize that mentioning utorrent may not get me any help, but i am just wondering what the problem might be.
it is strange that my desktop running its own cricket broadband usb connection, has all of the same programs, (also without a router) is having no errors when connecting to the internet.
does anyone have any help on this issue?

Muss: Google for WinsockfixXP if you are running XP or Winsockfix if you're running a different OS.
Run it and see if that fixes your problem.
