Date Display in Internet Explorer

Q: Date Display in Internet Explorer

Is there something I can do to add the day of week name to the dates that Explorer displays in folder > files details display ?

Instead of 9/23/2016 11:08 PM, I would like it to display Fri 9/23/2016 11:08 PM

Even better would be Fri 23/Sep/2016 11:08 PM

Maybe I am asking too much, but it would be nice.

Thanks for reading.

Preferred Solution: Date Display in Internet Explorer

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Date Display in Internet Explorer

Yes, quite easily
This is in W8.1, but I am certain that it is the same in all other systems

first go to control panel & select language / then change date / time //number

set long date to bottom option. dddd dd MMM yyyy

Then select additional settings & select the date tab
in the short date box add dddd, to the start of the line & press apply, OK & exit out and when you next open explorer , you will have the entire date shown in all its glory

Hi.. I don't know if this is the right section, please correct me if it's wrong. Here is the problem:

My Internet Explorer 7 gives the error: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I cannot complete the troubleshooting. It states that there might be a problem with my firewall settings. But my Firefox works perfectly on this computer. I have completed all the steps given in this link. However, it didn't work. I cannot run MSN right now because of this. And this is not a problem that developed recently, on this computer I have never managed to run Internet Explorer.

And another point to mention: Whenever I try to visit a site via IE7, before giving "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error, on the status-bar I see a warning for a second such that a "dns error" or something.

I have also searched this forum for this, I have found some posts consisting HJT logs but could not reached a solution for my problem. Could you please help? Thank you.

Hello.
I'd like to see Long Date and Long Time in my System Tray instead of Short Date and Short Time.
But due to some restrictions connected with my work I can not modify Short Date & Short Time to look how I want them to look in System Tray.
So basically I need Windows to show what is set as Long Date & Long Time in System Tray instead of showing Short ones.

Is it possible? Maybe some registry tweaks?

Good morning,
This may be a common error and a probably easy one to solve. But since I am not a computer expert I need your help please.
When I run the Network Diagnostics for Windows XP, it shows:
"Windows cannot connect to the internet using HTTP, HTTPS or FTP.
This is probably caused by firewall settings on this computer.
Check the firewall settings for the HTTP Port (80); HTTPS Port (443) and FTP Port (21).

I would like to clarify that I have not changed the firewall settings. This problem appeared after a run a deep MSE and showed me that I was infected with bacdoor:win32/cycbot.B.

Apparently MSE cleaned and removed the mentioned virus. The rest of the computer is working just fine but I cannot get it to the internet.

I do know for a fact that I have internet connection, since I have an network and I am writing you from another computer within the network.

Will someone be able to help me????? Please????

My date/time display is set to show the time in 24 hours instead of 12am/pm hours. I do not know how to change it. Changing the internet time doesn't help and there doesn't seem to be a way on the clock. I used to have am/pm displayed. How can I change it? Also, can I have the date displayed with the time on the taskbar?

A:Task bar display-date/time display

I had mine changed to 24hr once because of a malware, hope this is not your case! Assuming everything its fine, this is how you do it:

This tutorial will teach you how to change your system time from 24 hour to 12 hour.

First of all, Click Start and then click on Control Panel.

In the Control Panel (And this is with the Category View) click on Date, Time, Language and Regional Options.

After clicking that, click on Change the format of numbers, dates and times.

A box will pop up, click on the Customize Button next to the drop-down menu of formats according to their country.

Another box should appear. Click on the Time tab. If your system is already running using 24 hour time, in the Time format box there should be HH:mm:ss.

The two Capital H's make the clock use 24 hour. To change this, replace the Capital H's with small h's. So, you should have changed the format from HH:mm:ss to hh:mm:ss.

Now, that's fine and dandy, but you might want it to say either PM or AM at the end. To make this happen, add two small t's at the end of the format. So, the format code should now be hh:mm:ss tt.

Click on OK. And now click Apply in the Regional and Language Options box, and then click OK again.

Hopefully your time in the system tray should be in 12 hour.

Your IP is blacklisted by several sites. Even though that supposedly only counts for email, sometimes a site will block any access from a blacklisted IP.

That page to which I linked as a "Click here for some suggestions" link; I suggest that you read those suggestions. Also, some of the blacklisting services have a "Details" link, which will give often give some info on how to get off their list.

What has probably happened is that some other client of your ISP has been caught spamming and a block of IPs has been blacklisted. You may need your ISPs help to get their IP(s) off the lists.

Hello and Welcome to TSF.

We no longer use HijackThis as our initial analysis tool. It does show some detail, but generally not enough for today's infections.

Looks like there's a proxy in IE which seems to be related to infections.

After that....

No surprise - Mozilla Firefox works fine on her PC. I've tried running a registry cleaner program to no avail. I upgraded her IE6 to IE7 and still no change. I'm writing this post because IE6 had worked on my PC up until this past week and now I get the same behavior as on her machine. I do not consider myself a novice with PCs but I am thoroughly stumped with this problem. The problem is not crippling, as we both use Mozilla Firefox, but it is an annoying problem that such a major component of the operating system is broken.

I agree with you and have suffered the same problem for some time,it even does the same thing in IE8 I have searched for hours on the net to find an answer and have not been sucessful in finding a permanent cure for this very frustrating problem ...its quite widespread when you look through searches for it and its high time Microsoft came up with a fix,Im pretty sure they are aware of the problem ..Welcome to the site by the way

What else do you need to know? The computer has been running pretty slow and It had some virus problems but I think I cleared them up. The main issue right now is that it is connected to the internet but it won't display any webpages. I also have foxfire and that seems to be having the same problem.

I have a home network with multiple computers on it - one desktop all of a sudden stopped gaining access to internet web sites. It connects to the network via a wireless card and I can see other computers on the network and can hit web sites by typing their IP address but not their name. I have scoured the internet and tried the winsock fix - everything I can think of - the settings are exactly the same as another pc that can connect with no problem. Can anyone help me? please - thanks

I'm new to Vista. I have just connected my new laptop with Vista to my home network (XP). No dramas.

But when browsing the internet (IE7), certain websites won't load (eg Apple, Ninemsn, Microsoft). Eventually it displays "Internet Explorer can't display the webpage". When you diagnose connection problems - it finds no problem.

I have tried turning off firewalls (Vista), uninstalling my AV (NOD32), disabling Vista's autotuning (which booted my brothers computer off the network, but did nothing to mine).

I have tried to browse through Morzilla Firefox (but i can't load the website to download it!) and have tried disabling ADD ONs in IE. None of these change anything!

Anymore suggestions?

OK, my internet explorer cannot access any web page. I get a message saying "Internet Explorer cannot access the webpage"

I have tried many webpages - none work.

I have tried to "Diagnose Connection Problems" - no problem found

I know my internet is working because Firefox works just fine.

The "Work Offline" is NOT checked under the file menu.

I have checked under Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings, and the Automatically Detect Settings is checked.

I have also checked the Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and the DNS Client is Automatic and Started.

I am running Windows Firewall, which I have disabled to test IE, to no avail.

I am running AVG Anti-Virus, which I have quit to test IE, to no avail.

SPECS:
Windows Vista Home Basic
Internet Explorer 7.0
AVG 8.0
Mozilla Firefox 3.0.6

any suggestions???

I can not open any internet explorer pages. Everytime I try it says "Internet Explorer cannot display webpage". I recently returned from vacation at my sister's where I was trying to connect to her wireless connection. I could not connect automatically so I attempted to do it manually. Eventually I gave up and just plugged her cable into my computer. Once I returned home, I realized that I can now not connect to the internet at all. It shows that my computer is picking up my wireless signal and says I am connected. However, everytime I try to open internet explorerer I keep on getting the error page. The very top of internet explorer says "windows internet explorer provided by comcast". I do not have comcast. Does anyone know how I can get rid of "internet explorer provided by comcast" ? I believe this may be my connection problem but then again I really have no idea.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated !!!!!!!

This problem has presisted for about a week now, my IE7 will not allow me to view web pages, however, if I were to type www.msn.com in the address bar, I am rerouted to google and I'm given search results for msn.com. When I click on the msn.com result I get the "IE cannot display web page error". I've done several system restores, I've deleted the security update 94453 like some recommended, I've turned off my firewall, done spyware checks, virus scans, and have come to find out nothing wrong with it. My laptop is able to surf the net just fine so it has something to do with my computer, but I am not sure what. Was wondering if anyone has had this happen, and if anyone could help. THanks in advance!

I have been having a fairly recent issue with my computer. i am not sure when it started. I currently have an acer extensa laptop running vista home premium. i have IE 8 release candidate 1. I have been experiencing a page error. "internet explorer cannot display the webpage". i also have Google Chrome and have no problems like this. the wierd part is that it is totally random. sometimes loading pages is fine and works great and sometimes i cannot even start the homepage (google) it is not limited to a certain webpage. it just happens.
i also have a desktop. vista home premium and IE 8 release candidate 1. i dont have this problem with this computer. i have AVG Antivirus, AD-Aware, Reg-Cure, and Malware Bytes. so i am kinda sure its not those. does anyone know why this is happening?

A:internet explorer cannot display the webge

here is some things that i did not mention.
as i stated already, i do have all of the antivirus stuff installed on both computers. and they both have cricket broadband internet. i have not had the same problem with the desktop that i do with the laptop. i have been tweaking with the laptop, and just cant get consistent access. my bittorrent program works fine. and updates work. i did say that google loads fine, but it does not. testing both IE 8 and GOOGLE Chrome sometime the homepage loads right up, and sometimes i can refresh (F5) for about 5 to 8 times before it "catches" which is really what happens. it either starts loading or it doesnt. after 8 times, i give up. they do not even load if i "run as administrator" so i am baffled and getting frustrated. i think it has to be so kind of "switch" or click or unclick thing, because some things do work like windows updates and bittorrent. the only things i have done is uninstalled a couple of the security updates that were recently installed and i have since changed update to notify me before installing.
please help me fix this windows thing

For the past week or so I have been unable to access the internet with this laptop. I have two computers, and the desktop seems to be connecting just fine. The laptop says that it is connected to the internet but when I open internet explorer I get the message that it cannot display the webpage. I have tried rkill with no success so far. The version of Malwarebytes on the laptop is about 10 days out of date with the updates so it's not finding anything and I can't get it to update. Stopzilla has found very little, mostly cookies. And I had to shut it down to get rkill to run...I feel bad to bother you guys for help, as I know you're all volunteers, but this time I really need help.

Hi
We am running this dell B120 with xp home sp3.
The admin account works fine and seems to be warms/spyware free.
For security reasons we are normally using a limited account. This account had become unusable and was diagnosed by defender with win32/FakeSpyro Trojan that was subsequently removed. We also installed and ran AVG which removed a few more items.
The problem we have with explorer 8 on the limited account is that it cannot open any web pages. Firefox works fine on that account. Explorer works also fine on the admin account. Here is the hijackthis report:

After letting my little cousin use my computer (Windows XP, Service Pack 3), he apparently uninstalled AVG and installed Avast, among other actions. Since then, I haven't been able to load any webpages through Firefox ("Server not Found") or IE ("Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Page").
My computer is communicating with my router (I'm sending packets), but I am not receiving many packets.
I've tried the following steps and none have worked (and I'm tired so this list is not exhaustive):
Turing on/off my router
disabling/enabling my wireless connection
ipconfig /flushdns
shutting down windows firewall
TCP/IP Reset
Winsock repair software
Doing virus scans with avast, Windows XP scan software
Cleaning the registry with CCleaner
Made sure DNS is started and is automatic

When I entered Google's IP address into my web browser I was able to open the designated webpage. I believe the suggestion was, through another forum, that I was having a problem with my DNS. I hope someone has an idea of what's going on.
