Date Display in Internet Explorer

Q: Date Display in Internet Explorer

Is there something I can do to add the day of week name to the dates that Explorer displays in folder > files details display ?

Instead of 9/23/2016 11:08 PM, I would like it to display Fri 9/23/2016 11:08 PM

Even better would be Fri 23/Sep/2016 11:08 PM

Maybe I am asking too much, but it would be nice.

Thanks for reading.

Preferred Solution: Date Display in Internet Explorer

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Date Display in Internet Explorer

Yes, quite easily
This is in W8.1, but I am certain that it is the same in all other systems

first go to control panel & select language / then change date / time //number

set long date to bottom option. dddd dd MMM yyyy

Then select additional settings & select the date tab
in the short date box add dddd, to the start of the line & press apply, OK & exit out and when you next open explorer , you will have the entire date shown in all its glory

Hi.. I don't know if this is the right section, please correct me if it's wrong. Here is the problem:

My Internet Explorer 7 gives the error: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I cannot complete the troubleshooting. It states that there might be a problem with my firewall settings. But my Firefox works perfectly on this computer. I have completed all the steps given in this link. However, it didn't work. I cannot run MSN right now because of this. And this is not a problem that developed recently, on this computer I have never managed to run Internet Explorer.

And another point to mention: Whenever I try to visit a site via IE7, before giving "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error, on the status-bar I see a warning for a second such that a "dns error" or something.

I have also searched this forum for this, I have found some posts consisting HJT logs but could not reached a solution for my problem. Could you please help? Thank you.

Hello.
I'd like to see Long Date and Long Time in my System Tray instead of Short Date and Short Time.
But due to some restrictions connected with my work I can not modify Short Date & Short Time to look how I want them to look in System Tray.
So basically I need Windows to show what is set as Long Date & Long Time in System Tray instead of showing Short ones.

Is it possible? Maybe some registry tweaks?

A:How to display Long Date in System Tray (without modifying Short Date)?

Good morning,
This may be a common error and a probably easy one to solve. But since I am not a computer expert I need your help please.
When I run the Network Diagnostics for Windows XP, it shows:
"Windows cannot connect to the internet using HTTP, HTTPS or FTP.
This is probably caused by firewall settings on this computer.
Check the firewall settings for the HTTP Port (80); HTTPS Port (443) and FTP Port (21).

I would like to clarify that I have not changed the firewall settings. This problem appeared after a run a deep MSE and showed me that I was infected with bacdoor:win32/cycbot.B.

Apparently MSE cleaned and removed the mentioned virus. The rest of the computer is working just fine but I cannot get it to the internet.

I do know for a fact that I have internet connection, since I have an network and I am writing you from another computer within the network.

Will someone be able to help me????? Please????

My date/time display is set to show the time in 24 hours instead of 12am/pm hours. I do not know how to change it. Changing the internet time doesn't help and there doesn't seem to be a way on the clock. I used to have am/pm displayed. How can I change it? Also, can I have the date displayed with the time on the taskbar?

A:Task bar display-date/time display

I had mine changed to 24hr once because of a malware, hope this is not your case! Assuming everything its fine, this is how you do it:

This tutorial will teach you how to change your system time from 24 hour to 12 hour.

First of all, Click Start and then click on Control Panel.

In the Control Panel (And this is with the Category View) click on Date, Time, Language and Regional Options.

After clicking that, click on Change the format of numbers, dates and times.

A box will pop up, click on the Customize Button next to the drop-down menu of formats according to their country.

Another box should appear. Click on the Time tab. If your system is already running using 24 hour time, in the Time format box there should be HH:mm:ss.

The two Capital H's make the clock use 24 hour. To change this, replace the Capital H's with small h's. So, you should have changed the format from HH:mm:ss to hh:mm:ss.

Now, that's fine and dandy, but you might want it to say either PM or AM at the end. To make this happen, add two small t's at the end of the format. So, the format code should now be hh:mm:ss tt.

Click on OK. And now click Apply in the Regional and Language Options box, and then click OK again.

Hopefully your time in the system tray should be in 12 hour.

Hi there.

Ok Let me first say I am not sure if I am posting this in the right section of the forum. The problem appears to be a network problem but I am almost certain it was caused first off by a virus.

Ok the problem is as follows, I sometimes get that message when loading up websites which says "Internet Explorer Cannot Display This Webpage". When this happens I am connected to the internet and can be downloading, talking on msn or ventrillo or doing anything else that requires internet access. I then have to keep refreshing the page until the website loads up (sometimes this can happen right away and other times it takes several refreshes until the internet explorer decides it can display the webpage. Also sometimes when website do load they seem to load what looks like a simplified version on the website, kind of like a printer friendly version and I then have to refresh the page again.

The problem all started the about 4 or 5 days ago when i was surfing the web when suddenly a virus virus downloaded itself onto my computer. It was that Anti-Malware Doctor along with a load of other malware that gets downloaded with it. By using a number of programs such as Malware Bytes and, Spybot:Search & Destroy and HiJack this I managed to get rid of all the viruses off my computer.

Now I am fairly confident that I am malware free as I have run several scans of my system using malwarebytes and SB:S&D (all fully updated) and found no trace of malware, but even s... Read more

Please Help!

I Know there have been other threads made with this same issue, but I cannot seem to resolve the problem.

My computer runs Vista Home Premium, and Internet Explorer 7.

For the past three days now, my laptop which runs off a wireless internet connection, has been displaying the message 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage' whenever I try to load a page. But, when I go to diagnose Connection Problems, I get the result 'Windows did not find any problems with this computer's network connection'.

I can use such programs as MSN Messenger and Yahoo fine, so it's not a connection problem. Also, my other computer works perfectly fine, with no IE problems at all.

Because Internet Explorer won't work, programs associated with it will also not run, with the connection failed.

I have scanned my computer for viruses and used Malwarebytes, and have found no infections.

Any help would be much appreaciated! I Have tried numerous other troubleshooting steps and forum results available, all not fixing the problem. I've run out of help resorts - I'm willing to try anything!!

Thanks again in advance. I'm at my wits end!

A:'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'

And also, I was able to put my computer into Safe Mode, with Internet Explorer sucessfully working. Does this progress determine anything?

Atheros AR5007EG & AR5007
We have been seeing a lot of problems with the above adapters for about a year, mainly concerning WPA and WPA2 encryption and windows Vista.

The adapter gets an IP configuration, and shows as connected, but communication is non-existent or sporadic.

Log into the Router and disable the wireless security and see if you are now able to connect to the internet and surf OK.
--- Please post back here if that works or does not work.

Here are a number of possible solutions

--- 1) In Device Manager right click on the wireless adapter and "update driver." That apparently has worked for some posters.

--- 2) Download and install the latest wireless driver from your laptop manufacturer's web site support section, as some manufactures, appear to now have a working driver available.
Toshiba - update has worked for some PCs
HP The latest HP Atheros driver dated Sept 2010 has fixed the issue - so check the driver date, However, that does NOT apply to all HPs / Compaqs machines
- the poster did an online scan for driver updates on the HP website here HP Product Detection which resulted in a solution. Solved: Can't connect to internet wirelessly - Atheros AR5007 Wifi through Clear Comm - Tech Support Guy Forums

"Internet explorer cannot display the web page"

More reasons than I can count could cause this. There should be more to the message. Since it's intermittent, you can do two things:
1. Note if it's the same site or note if it's the same 'type' of site, like a secure site- it could be the IE phishing filter preventing the loading.
2. Check the Event Viewer for the Error that shows at the same time you get the message:
Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Event Viewer> click on System and Apps, one at a time, and look for Errors> right click on the Error> Properties> click on the Copy icon on the right, below the down arrow> Paste here (Ctrl V)
You do not need to include the lines of code in box below the Description. Ignore Warnings and Information events.

" Even with spysweeper and norton disabled,"- this is akin to standing on your front porch and saying "Malware, come get me"!

I tried system resotre and get a message saying system restore cannot protect my system or something like that. all other computers on the network work. Any ideas?

A:Internet explorer cannot display webpage

Go to Device manager and look at your network adapter is it showing there?

if so......is there any exclamation points or question marks showing?

As for system restore what is the message it is saying? (something like that)

is very broad.

Hi innocentboy,

Please post the link of the site you are trying to reach so I can test it with my own IE and see if it's a problem with the site.

In the meantime, try the following to see if you can fix IE assuming it's a problem with IE:

Try reviewing the following article:

Tips for solving problems with Internet Explorer
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Tips-for-solving-problems-with-Internet-Explorer

If that doesn't resolve the problem, then try the following two procedures in the order presented:

Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode [Applies to IE7 & IE8 in all OSS]
http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/07/25/678113.aspx

Does the behavior persist if you Reset IE Advanced settings (RIES)?

How to optimize Internet Explorer
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/936213/?p=1

How to troubleshoot Internet Explorer issues in Windows Vista and in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936215

Hopefully, one of these procedures will resolve your problems with IE.

I hope this helps. If not, post back and we'll try something else - and be sure to include the link to that website you can't access.

Good luck!

Hello All, I'm a newbie here and I see from looking that you guys offer some great help.

I am in a bit of a bother. My Desktop PC at home has recently stopped displaying any Internet exploer pages (for the last week) and all I get displayed is the message "Internet Explorer Cannot display the webpage", however both Outlook Express works fine and I can send an receive email, and also MSN Messenger also works.

I use IE7 and running the network diagnostics from there seems ok,
(results of the one I just ran below) and doing a IPconfig /All is also ok (see further below) and I've tried suggessions on other post so I have no idea what might be causing it ?? I am using Zone Alarm 7 anti virus and fire wall and I've tried shutting this down as well in case this was blocking internet access but still to no avail ?

I cannot even get to my router page http:/192.168.2.1 !!!!!!!

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Many Thanks

Amit

I have gone into Tools - Compatability View Settings ---- and added the pages as I go, but still has problems
I had a malware issue a few weeks back, with the bug that blocks everything and wants you to download and pay for their virus protection, which I was able to get off my computer with malwarebytes.

I'm hoping someone here can help me. After Googling the Web for a couple of days, I haven't found a solution, so I purchased Spyware Doctor and PCTools Antivirus, but neither seem to help.

Here's the symptom:

When accessing ESPN.com, I cannot use any of the headline links. They are available and presented as normal hyperlinks, but when I click any of them, I get a page presented stating "Internet Explorer Cannot Display The Webpage."

I fear this might be the result of some malware. I have another computer in the house that is able to access these links without a problem, so it's not the ISP or connection. I've tried using Firefox and Opera and still can't reach the links, so it's not an IE v.7 problem. In addition to Spyware Doctor and AntiVirus, I've tried Panda, Ad-Aware, Avast, AVG, BitDefender, F-Secure and Spybot.

Also, If I right-click the headline link on ESPN.com and cut the entire link URL and paste it into my browser address, I get the same results. But if I only cut and paste a portion of the URL, it works fine. For example, if the entire URL is:

I can cut and paste only the "http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2745139&name=FPT-2745139-012807&srvc=sz" and the link works fine.

I recently upgraded to IE7 on my XP Pro system. Now, occasionally, when I click on a link, I get a window "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". It is consistant, as it is always on the same websites (for example, paypal). However, if I put the address in the address bar directly, it goes there without a problem.

I have another computer with a newly installed verion of XP, and it works fine.

I have reset my security settings (even set them to medium (the lowest setting) ), but to no avail. I have also set under advanced settings to make sure that SSL and TLS were proper (same on my other computer and as suggested in the error message), but it did not matter. I also reset the Internet Explorer settings on that page.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi, Sounds like the new Phishing filter:

I have both the Popup blocker and Phishing filter turned off since I use some other things to work on those types of things.

Try just turning off the Phishing filter and going to Paypal.

Use the little drop down arrow next to Tools in the toolbar, mine is on the far right side with a gear like icon.

I having troubles with connecting to certain web pages, specifically login pages. I get to the website I'm looking for, but as soon as I try to login I get the above message. My modem is fine, connection is fine, I can use Firefox have no trouble accessing the web pages I go to - including login pages. I can navigate around a website from its homepage no problem but as soon as I try logging in with IE I get the message above.

I 'm not sure but I think this is messing with my msn messenger as well because I'm not able to get on. The message reads, 'Signing into Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailble. Please try again later. Error code: 8004888d' I have checked the service status, it says it is working fine and I have called one of my friends, they said it was fine.

I'm thinking this has something to do with my firewall or the security on IE.

I have tired to lower the security level and deleting my cookies and temp. files.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi, the past few weeks I've been experiencing this message, most often when I'd try opening individual online YahooMails (webmail). I have several YahooMail addresses, and it's been happening on at least two of the yahoomail addresses.

Then today, when I was on the Vitacost website, the IE "cannot display webpage" message displayed again, specifically upon clicking the link stating "Show 100":
http://www.vitacost.com/Clearance/pgva-100

I think it happened during the process of the vitacost site placing a cookie, because the next time I clicked the Clearance link, I did not get the IE error message, but rather it immediately displayed 100 (rather than the original 15)

When I clicked Diagnose Connection Problems, there was no problem with the connection.

When I checked out Security for SSL & TLS protocols, both were enabled.

Can it be a DNS issue? Because sometime during this past year, someone on techguy forums had been advising me to try out a certain site which would help speed my system, and that site advised changing my DNS data. But it hadn't been working for me, so I decided to re-enter the original DNS numbers which had been in my system.

Hi and welcome. Do you have a pop up blocker in place? Some websites that have log in pages require that you accept the popup for that site.

Now, the site isn't offline or anything. But anyway, I press F5 (Refresh) and it loads. I have to do this almost all the time when I search the Internet. What could be up with it?
