Messenger & Adobe cannot connect to net...

Q: Messenger & Adobe cannot connect to net...

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, couldn't tell where to put it. I have WinXP.

I've had this issue for awhile now and nothing seems to change it. Adobe cannot update because 'there is no internet connection.' But there is, I'm here right now...
Yahoo messenger cannot 'download files, check firewall settings'. But again...nothing I do lets these work.
I have turned off each firewall, I've put yahoo and adobe in the allowed/trusted lists.
I have Comodo and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, my Windows firewall has been off for years. So...what the heck is going on, how can I get anything to work properly??
I feel like it's something very obvious that I'm overlooking...

Preferred Solution: Messenger & Adobe cannot connect to net...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When you look at Network Connections, does Microsoft Virtual WiFi Minport Adapter show?

If so, disable it.

I posted earlier - I have now run adaware, spybot, de-fragged etc. etc. I have run hjt and post the results below. I think there are a couple of suspicious looking things on there but dont know enough to be confident in removing items. When I try and open something with adobe I get messenger 5 trying to install. I run messenger 6. It tells me the path messenger.msi is not available.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling adobe6 but the same problems arises. Is there a conflict on my machine.
How do I solve this problem. Help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

My new computer has Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Every time I boot or reboot and Live Messenger starts, a warning comes up that I have to to install the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. Elsewhere on this forum, it's discussed that there is no compatible Flash Player (and I couldn't find one). Okay with that, but how do I stop the warning every time I start?

Hi. i have a problem with windows messenger and adobe flash player. When i try to play a wink it say to update my adobe flash player. i have the new version of flash and windows live 2011. i uninstalled the flash and installed it again and i uninstalled msn and installed it again. i don't understand what's wrong :/ i installed windows7 2days ago and it's being doing that someone knows why??? thanks

A:Adobe flash and windows live messenger????

Only thing I can think of here is that there are actually 2 versions of Flash, one for IE and one for "alternate" browsers like Chrome or Firefox. If you're updating/installing flash player for one of these alternate browsers, you might actually need to install the IE flash player in addition. As you're using a Microsoft product(Live), I can only assume it will want IE's flash and not the alternate.

A few weeks ago I had Windows Messenger 5 installed on my laptop. I promptly removed it after I realized how much it sucks. Last week I needed to open a PDF file and I downloaded the free version of Adobe Acrobat 6. I installed it with no problems. The problem arises when I go to open a PDF file. What happens is that the Windows Installer window opens and tries to install Windows Messenger 5.0. I am pretty sure I purged WM 5.0 off of my system. Any ideas as to why this is happening? I did a search of my HD and I found no traces of WM 5.0.

Thanks for your help.

I have an Adobe Connect meeting scheduled for tomorrow, and when I click on the link to test my connection to Adobe Connect, which I just installed, I get this message- what can I do? I am connected to the Internet, so Firefox

I attempted to connect using this link, in an email, and got the message below:
If you have never attended an Adobe Connect meeting before:

Test your connection:

"Hmm. We?re having trouble finding that site.

We can?t connect to the server at meet94924985.adobeconnect.com.
If that address is correct, here are three other things you can try:

I haven't used my laptop for over a week, when I let my partners daughter try to log on to the internet it opened explorer, but then refuses to open many of the programs like adobe reader, distiller, MSN messenger etc... they take 10 - 15 mins to open then don't repond, these will then not shut down, and when ctrl-alt-delete is used to close them, they stay in the task bar and the machine takes almost an hour to close when using the start menu to shut it down, all was fine prior to this, and I ran the norton updates before letting her play on the net.

I need this laptop for work... damn nusiance

A:Adobe, Msn Messenger Won't Open And Now The Machine Takes 40 Minutes To Shut Down?

First thing to do is back up your data to removable media (CD, Floppy, etc). It may be infected, so be careful!

Then, if you can get an anti-virus and antispyware scan to run - do so.

Press Ctrl-Alt-Del (all at the same time), then click on the processes tab to see what's consuming all the CPU cycles. If there's anything (other than System Idle Process) that's got numbers above 5 or 10 (that's %) - right click on it and select "End Process".

Go to Start...Run...and type in "msconfig" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Check to see what's running at startup and disable those that you don't need.

Next, try to run SFC.EXE /SCANNOW from the Run dialog (Start...Run...) It may prompt you for your XP installation disk, so please have it ready. If it does prompt you for the CD, please go to Windows Update immediately afterwards and have it check for updates.

Try the following solutions in the order that they are listed:

1. Visit the following Web site to verify that you can connect to the Internet: http://www.microsoft.com

If you cannot connect, contact your Internet Service provider or your local network administrator.

2. Determine whether MSN Messenger is blocked by a firewall. Visit the following Web site to sign in to Web Messenger:

Click Start Web Messenger, and verify whether you can sign in. If you can sign in to Web Messenger, MSN Messenger may be blocked by a firewall. If the computer is running third-party (non-Microsoft) software or firewall software, such as ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security, or McAfee, make sure that the software is set to let MSN Messenger operate, and then try to sign in to MSN Messenger again. Visit the following Web site for information about the most common firewalls:

3. Verify the date and time settings on your computer:

a. Click on START and RUN and type in CONTROL timedate.cpl and hit ENTER

b. Verify that the date and time settings are set correctly.

Any ideas why I can't connect to www.adobe.com? I get an error message saying "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". Same problem when I try using Firefox. Also happens if a do a Google search on Adobe.com and try to connect to the Adobe site via the link.

I am using a HP laptop operating on Windows XP.

Probably related to this problem: When I try to download a pdf file from an internet link, I get an error message refering to the file adobepdf.dll. I downloaded the file and installed it, but the problem persists.

Really frustrating, since I use pdfs a lot!!

If you are using broadband and have a firewall, there might be something causing it to stop connecting. Maybe a blocked port, or a program such as your firewall or xp sp2 that is blocking it.

last week my friend was messing around with my network settings trying network my pc to my laptop, ive tried everything i can think of to fix the prob and sat on the phone for at least 3 hours with the dsl tech support people. i dont have a problem connecting with my dsl, or 56k, because i am able to ping myself in DOS, but i cant connect to any web based programs such as aol messenger, gamespy, napster, or any web pages at all. i know im connected, but my comp wont recognize that i am. i have no freaking clue what to do now, and i would be eternally greatful for any help you could give, this is my last resort...

A:cant connect to web, aol messenger, gamespy, ANYTHING!!!!! please help me

In fooling with your network settings, did your friend perhaps check off proxy server in the LAN settings property sheet? If not, since you have DSL, do you stay logged on all the time or do you log off? Under the General tab in the Client property box, what is checked? You should have "Log on and restore network connections" checked. I'm sure your tech supp with @home took you through all the settings if you spent 3 hours there (unless you were on hold for 2:57 of the 3, which is generally my case ).

To make totally sure all your settings are correct, I would remove and reinstall your Network Interface card (not physically remove, but with the Remove function in the Device Manager. Then I would remove and reinstall your client (I'm assuming it is "Client for Microsoft Networks"), and also do the same with the TCP/IP and, for kicks, the Dial Up Adapter. Once you reboot, I would then remove the @home software and reinstall it and then reboot again. This process would ensure all of your network settings are correct.

Lets hope your friend didn't burn up any hardware trying to get you networked. The easiest way I have found to network one laptop to a desktop PC in with Direct Cable Connection, which you have on your machine if you are running WIN95/98/NT4.X or greater. There is a wizard that will lead you through the process at Start>Programs>Accessories>Communications>Direct Cable Connection. The only thing you will need is a hig... Read more

My internet connection is usually fine, I use a D-Link 615 router, and almost always have no problem connecting and using the internet. That is of course until I decide to connect to Skype, MSN messenger, or anything but AIM. AIM for some reason works fine. Skype however cuts out frequently and the webcam connection is horrible and i know its from my end. Is there anything I can do? A:Can't Connect to Skype/MSN messenger

Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here.

The link to post is near the top of the page and looks like:

If you wish to post this result to a forum, please copy/paste this URL
http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2357195 <- sample only, yours will obviously be different!
and your IP will be disguised.

Copy/paste that link here.

Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.

Shew..now that this page has finally loaded, I can explain my problem and hope you wonderful people here can help me.

This has been going on since about Saturday. I can connect with my DSL. I have already called the DSL place and they said everything is fine there. So, I know its not the connection or the servers, but as soon as I connect to the internet I go and click on IE and open it up - it takes about 15 mins for a page to load, my pages use to load in 10 seconds. My Windows LIVE Messenger WON'T connect, but If I use the Windows Messneger that comes with the computer(same as MSN) it will. Also, when I go to download something like a messenger or firefox it takes about 6 hours for it to download and then once it gets done, it tells me its not a vaild Win32 app.
I have tried unplugging my modem and plugging it back it. I have ran ad-aware and Avast!. I talked to the guy that built my computer(my sister's best friend) and he said it sounded either like a connection problem OR an Explorer problem.

i have a big problem. It has made me reformat 4 times now. Here's the problem:
I bought new components and installed Vista Business 64bit, and everything worked fine, but then all of a sudden my browsers stop connecting (IE7 says "waiting for reply from www.google.com"), MSN messenger and Xfire can't sign in, none of my programs can update (including Windows Update), also, uTorrent can seed, but cannot update trackers. Oh, and i can ping any IP or site i want. Also, immediatly after Windows starts, i get a couple of seconds of everything working (Messenger and Xfire sign in, browser works,..., so it seems like whatever is causing my problem has to load itself and it doesn't do it while Windows is booting. One more thing, if i go into Safe Mode with networking, my connection works fine.
Please help if you can.

Hi! I am currently connected to the Internet - no problems surfing with Safari, Firefox, Chrome, or Explorer, but I cannot sign into Messenger. I downloaded the mandatory upgrade, and it hasn't worked since then. I get error 80072efd, and I have followed all of the instructions on the Windows Live Help page, to no avail. Interestingly, I cannot connect to a security update for McAfee, either. I also followed all of their instructions (including disabling the autotuning), and it still won't connect. I tried rebooting, doing the task manager thing (stopping the program), and disabling my firewall also. (All based on things I've seen on other forums.)

Can anyone help? How can I be connected to the web, and not having any other troubles, but these programs won't connect?

Hi, I have a problem that appeared on your forum but has now expired. I want to use a webcam with Adobe Connect. An image appears but it is upside down. When I try to share the image with others, Adobe Connect crashes.
All software is up to date: Adobe Connect, Flash, Webcam software IE.

I bought a new camera, (Logitech 170), installed it and disabled the laptops internal camera. Rebooted several times.
The problem is precisely the same with each camera.
Perhaps it is an add-on in IE?

Appreciate any help.

My webcam freezes after a few minutes in a meeting.  If I turn off the camera and turn it back on, it just appears black.  The only way to get the webcam to work again is by exiting and rejoining the meeting.  I did a clean reinstall on my computer and Adobe Connect and my webcam worked until my computer upgraded to Windows 8.1. Hardware, Software, desktop configuration:-   Notebook: Lenovo Yoga 13-   Operating System: Windows 8.1, 64bit-   Webcam:1.0M 720p HD integrated webcam-   Browser: Firefox 36.0.4-   Adobe Connect Add-in Version: WIN 11.9.972.8-   Adobe Connect: 9.4.1I have been working with tech support at my program for the past few months, but we haven't been able to figure out the problem. If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate i

A:Adobe Connect camera freezing

We see this freezing camera issue too. We believe it is related to the other Windows 8.1 issues with Adobe Connect. Here's a forum thread discussing Windows 8.1 issues; http://www.connectusers.com/forums/topic/10006/recording-issues-with-connect-922-and-windows-81/ Adobe has suggested the Windows 8.1 issues would be fixed in 9.3 and 9.4 but they weren't. They are now telling us it will be fixed in Connect version 9.5, due out later this year.

I not able to watch recorded lectures on Adobe Connect. Other people are able to do so, however.

I have tried everything on Adobe's website to solve this issue. I have also tried uninstalling the applications and re-installing them. I reset the laptop this morning, but to no avail. This is a new computer, which got delivered 3 days ago.

My exams will be over by Dec 11. I have 44 days to watch the lectures, study and appear for assignments. I had taken two days' leave from work to catch up on my studies. Those days have been wasted trying to open a single lecture.

I would be very grateful, if someone could help me in sorting this out.

Thank you for your valuable time.

I was chatting with my fiancee using YM 11.0. We were using YM 11 & video cam, no calls. My YM closed and when I went to restart it, it would not log back in. I restart my laptop and that did not work. So I changed the connection preference to proxy and I could connect. I am able to login into Yahoo Email using https and use messenger inside of email.

I have not noticed any other problems with skype or other browsers such as IE8, FireFox, or Chrome. So I am confused as to what is going on. Like I stated previously, I was chatting fine and then it when down.

I am using a HP Pavilion DV7 4173US, windows 7 64 bit. It is fully patched up and I use Microsoft Security Essentials, WinPatrol, and SuperAntiSpyware. And I did upgrade to YM 11.5, the latest version.

Here is the log from YM:

A:Unable to connect Yahoo Messenger (11 & 11.5) to internet

Evidently, there was a Yahoo Mail outage about 8 hours ago. I am not sure if Yahoo posts anything but I did discover a site that provides a "psuedo" data collection from people who will report issues. And this site shows that about 10:00 AM PST, there was an issue, which means that more than likely, caused this issue. However, I am not relying on this site and I am running a scan now.

The site is:

And evidently, it collects data from people reporting outages and issues on different social platforms. Like I said, it is not official, but so far, it is the only thing I have seen that provides this type of info on different sites.
