Latitude 7480 wifi radio disabled after undocking - Intel 8265 wifi chip - Windows 10

Q: Latitude 7480 wifi radio disabled after undocking - Intel 8265 wifi chip - Windows 10

When I undock the laptop by pulling the USB-C cable out (either sleeping beforehand or not sleeping first) then I am getting an intermittent issue where the wifi claims to be disabled. The only way to resolve this is a hard reboot.
Toggling airplane mode doesn't help. Disabling and reenabling the wifi network connection doesn't help. Toggling airplane mode from Fn-PrtScr doesn't help.
It is acting as though the hardware radio is turned off (like when laptops used to come with a hardware radio switch), but with no method to turn it on again.
Looking in the system event log I can see entries from source Netwtw04, Event ID 7012 stating "radio OFF"
Drivers and bios are all up to date.

Any ideas?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

My Yoga 900 13isk 80MK came with an Intel 8260 wifi card, Lenovo Part# SW10A11647.  When I look up the part on the official Lenovo Part Lookup page, it lists Intel 01AX704 (Lenovo Part# SW10K97453) as a "Substitute" and "Equivalent" part. However, when I look up 01AX704 in Parts Lookup, my Yoga is not listed as compatible. So.....anyone have any idea whether this 8265 would work in my 900?  Here are the listed compatible models; Wireless,CMB,IN,8265 NV M2 (01AX704) is compatible with the following machines:510S-08IKL520S-14IKB710S-PLUS-13IKB710S-PLUS-TOUCH-13IKB720-18IKL720S-14IKBFLEX-5-1470-LAPTOP-LENOVOFLEX-5-1570LEGION-Y520-15IKBALEGION-Y520-15IKBMLEGION-Y520-15IKBNLEGION-Y720-15IKBM810ZMIIX-510-12IKBMIIX-720-12IKBTHINKCENTRE-M710QTHINKCENTRE-M710STHINKCENTRE-M710TTHINKCENTRE-M910QTHINKCENTRE-M910STHINKCENTRE-M910TTHINKCENTRE-M910XTHINKCENTRE-M910ZTHINKPAD-13-TYPE-20J1-20J2THINKPAD-E470THINKPAD-E570THINKPAD-L470THINKPAD-L470-TYPE-20JU-20JVTHINKPAD-L570-TYPE-20J8-20J9THINKPAD-P51S-TYPE-20HB-20HCTHINKPAD-P51-TYPE-20HH-20HJTHINKPAD-P71THINKPAD-T470THINKPAD-T470PTHINKPAD-T470STHINKPAD-T570THINKPAD-X270THINKSTATION-P320V310ZV510-14IKBV510-15IKBYOGA-520-14IKB80X8

Time of purchase the lenovo product page ofthis M910q tiny desktop the customizing screens were so ambiguous and when I received the product in hand then realized there is no wifi and bluetooth whatsoever.   However I was able to make it out from external discussion groups about its optional, then went back to product page learnt there is a cost of $35 for Intel Wireless-AC 8265...  so in the hopes of doing it myself I've purchased Intel Wifi Wireless-AC 8265 8265.NGWMG separately and tried to install it but when I opened the box apparently there is no slot at all.  Please advise how can I make this installed?  The online customer support just allows to open the ticket, smart backoffice support folks cancels the tickets without any resolutions and if I tried to reach via phone lines goes in circles... I upgraded my XPS 15 9560 Killer WiFi with Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265.
WiFi works flawlessly.
Bluetooth devices installed correctly ("This device is working properly") and visible: Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R), Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator and Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator.
But Bluetooth can't find any devices.
I have tried Intel driver 19.50.0.5 from Dell downloads and official Intel driver 20.0.0_64.
In Windows 10 x64 Bluetooth settings it just gets stuck saying "Your PC is searching for and can be discovered by Bluetooth devices" and never actually finds anything.
Any ideas?

You must actually connect (pair) bluetooth devices like bt headphones or other peripherals to get it to work. What BT devices do you have? The enumerators are not devices. See --

Yesterday I received my 720s i7-8550u MX150 laptop and on first impressions I am impressed with the laptop (Although I have only used for a couple hours). However the wifi performance of the QCA9377 wifi card is very poor and I would like to swap out for an Intel 8265. I have however read about whitelisting - The fact that Lenovo lock down the bios so the machine only boots with certain hardware installed.  Coming from using Dell laptops this seems madness to me! I can get a 'Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265, 2230, 2x2 AC + BT, Vpro' wifi card from Amazon UK for £17.95 delivered but I wanted to check: 1) That I will be ok to swap the cards over and have the warranty maintained.  I'll keep the old card so I can replace if I need to send back for warranty reasons.2) That if I swap the wifi card over it will work ok with my laptop My part number is 81BD0044UK and I have looked at the manual at https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad720s-14ikb_hmm_201705.pdf which lists the following card in the parts list: Wirelesslan_WIFI, Intel 8265 2x2AC+BT PCIE M.2 WLAN NV, WIFI 2X2 AC+BT4.1 SW10K97453 Can anyone please help confirm that I am ok to swap the card over please? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Matt

When my Carbon 5th is connected to 5 GHz Wifi it randomly resets (drops) after several hours (connection is being lost, Windows reports "Cannot connect to the network"). Sometimes it is possible to connect again manually, sometimes only reboot makes it work again. Connection to 2.4 GHz Wifi always works totally fine. I've seen several similar topics on Intel forums with the same issue, looks like it touches several Intel WiFi adapters. No solution have been found except using only old 2.4 GHz protocols or external WiFi adaptors. I tried different drivers and many parameter sets on my router - nothing solves this issue. It is very sad to have only 20mbps with 2.4 GHz while new standards offer more than 100mbps. Did you face this issue? Any ideas to solve it out?

Hello!
I don't know much about computers so I'm not sure what's going on with my laptop. For over a month my my laptop likes to disconnect from the internet all by itself. The internet connection itself is fine. My sister's laptop never looses internet nor does any other device in our house that uses WiFi. It only seems to be my laptop. Furthermore, "My Wifi Technology" always says WiFi has been disabled. I try to enable it but it still says its disabled. What's weirder is that usually my internet works fine even it claims WiFi is disabled.
I tried system restore just to see if it would help somehow, it didn't. I also scanned my computer fur viruses but nothing showed up. The only way I can connect to the internet again is by restarting my laptop. I'm wondering if I have fault hardware or something.

I need help! I have a Pavilion dm4 laptop with Windows 7 Home with an Intel My Wi-Fi Technology. I have a wireless printer that worked as a wireless printer until about 3 weeks ago. The Intel My Wi-Fi Technology is disabled. I go the Control Panel>Network & Internet>Intel My Wi-Fi Technology and click to open it. The window that pops up indicates that the wi-fi is disabled. It has a green button that reads "enable". When I click on that button, it will not become enabled.

I have turned off the rotor, turned off my computer and printer and rebooted everything. Nothing helps.

What can I do?

But recently, since last two weeks I noticed that my Wifi would stop blinking after sometime after I start my laptop and then it wouldn't work even when I try to turn on and turn off the Wifi switch(it doesn't respond anything). I tried searching the net for this issue using my office laptop and found that a system restore would help to solve this issue. Since I remembered that I updated Java as well as there was this ad software which got installed and I had unistalled it. So I did a system restore and then when I opened the device manager, I am not able to see intel r wifi link 5100 driver on it. I tried restarting my laptop and did everything and couldn't find the driver(it was there before the system restore). But later on the same day, the driver got installed automatically and the WiFi started working but only for a couple of minutes after the restart and then it stopped. So  I did the system restore again to the date when everything was working perfectly and when i did that, again my intel r wifi link 5100 driver is not shown on the device manager(network adapters). Hi! After moving to a new home, I'm having trouble getting a wired connection working. Same modem and router as the previous home, same PC. Different ISP, but both are Shaw cable re-packagers.

SAPPHIRE Pure Black P67 Hydra

USB wifi, Dlink DWA-160

Marvell Yukon 88E8057 Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller

I have only a PC and an android connected, occasionally and android tablet as well.

The PC can connect via wifi, if ethernet is disabled and then modem, router, PC restarted, but I can't seem to figure out a way to get the ethernet connection to work. I've tried DHCP and Static IP configurations, and I've tried connecting the ethernet directly to the modem instead of the router, but to no avail. I believe I've managed at times to access the router from the PC (only with static IP), but never the internet as well. I've tried 3 cat 5 cables as well.

Here are some pictures with more details of my config

I've been banging my head against this for 8+ hours...can anyone see what I'm missing?

Hi all...
I have reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate x64 onto my Laptop.  For some reason, and it's probably my own stupidity, but I am unable to find the wifi drivers.  I have looked on the Drivers Download page but can't see anything that is relevant.  The machine originally came with Win 7 and Wireless.
I have the ethernet drivers installed, the bluetooth drivers but no wifi and Device Manager still shows a Network Controller need to be installed which I assume is the wifi.
I just can't seem to find them.  Please help, point me in the right direction etc. before it drives me totally crazy.  :-)
Best regards

I've just added an SSD to my Latitude D630, and also put Windows 8.1 64-bit on it (still in evaluation mode). Ultimately, the intention is to move to Windows 10, but I can't do that until I actually purchase Windows 8.1.
When I start up, Wifi sometimes works and sometimes doesn't - maybe about 50-50. When it doesn't work, I can get it working by going into Network Connections and disabling - re-enabling WiFi.
I've updated the BIOS to A19. I can't install any of the Dell drivers for D630, as they don't support Windows 8. Device Manager indicates "Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN" for the name of the network adapter, and driver version 13.3.0.137.
Any idea why this might be happening, and what I could do about it?
Thanks - Calum

 calumm,
Unfortunately, you will be needing the Windows 8.1  Wifi and Network card drivers for this computer. You also may need other Windows 8.1 drivers. Dell does not have any Windows 8.1 drivers available for the Latitude D630 Notebook. You can click the link below and view some of the YouTube videos on wifi issues in Windows 8.1 that may help resolve the wifi issue.

I hope somebody can help me to find the correct driver
It is for Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bits version.

The wifi has always been a dodgy but today it became disabled and I can't enable it again. Kind of like it thinks there's a hardware switch. The wifi has a red cross like it's been turned off. Clicking on it allows me to turn on airplane mode but wi-fi is disabled. F9 doesn't turn it on and if you go to the Windows 10 settings to try this the slider control immediately turns itself off again. Worse if I check the bios/uefi the Wireless Lan Radio setting is disabled and it's greyed out so I can't enable it again. Tried updating the bios, and reinstalling Lenovo power management, hotkeys, settings dependency. All to no avail.Looks fine in device manager:1x1 11b/g/n Wireless LAN PCI Express Half Mini Card Adapterand I can disable/enable it, but it's still turned off. The wifi has always been patchy and tends to drop out then reconnect, so I'm wondering if it's a hardware problem that a new card would fix.  Any suggestions?  Update: Tried Ubuntu - Wifi is disabled by hardware switch. Not surprising if it's disabled in Bios

Hi everyone!

I have a Compaq Presario V3018CL. I use a Linksys Wireless Router to connect to my Home Network.

My problem started last night when I booted up to Windows XP only to find that I could not connect to the internet. I went to the Network Properties where all the adapters are listed and tried to disable and enable the adapter. Didn't work.

then I tried to go to the Device Manager and disabled the adapter; and then enabled it. Nothing. Rebooted the machine. And after this I couldn't find my wireless adapter listed any where. not in the device manager, nor in the properties of network neighborhood. Very strange. So i tried installing the drivers again. But again, nothing. I tried installed some utilities of HP's drivers section. Wireless utilities. They all said that your wireless card has been disabled in the device manager. Please enable it and then try again. Well I can't find it anymore in the device manager. I have tried reinstalling the drivers and everything but nothing. System restore didn't help. And I can't connect to the internet as well. Is there any way to bring the wireless card to show up in the device manager to enable it? Any way in the registry? Any help would be great at this point. Thanks.

Tim.

Thanks for the help guys,

I have figured out what the problem was and the solution. The thing to remember is that you can disable it in Windows and at the hardware level. The tricky part is to re-enable it if you can't find it in the device manager. Keep all troubleshooting options open. Pay close attention to detail. And you'll find the solution. Good luck.

I've been having issues with my laptop and its wifi card for the past couple of months. It's an Intel WiFi Link 5100 and my internet just randomly stops working, other computers and devices still work fine, but on my computer I cannot browse the internet (however sometimes downloads don't stop for some reason). Updated my drivers, turning it off and on does nothing, and I'm pretty sure it's not my firewall but next time the internet stops working i'll make sure.

When I say it randomly stops working I mean I'll turn the computer on it will work for a bit then just stop then a little bit later it will work. No other computers or devices experience those kind of pulses here.

I have a portable wifi radio that I bought for travel. When a motel requires no more than a WPA or WEP password, the radio can log on to their network without problem. However, many motels require that you log in on a web page (not WEP/WPA); the radio of course can't do that. Is there a way to set up a network between my laptop and the radio, so the laptop can log in to the motel's network, then the radio uses the laptop's internet connection? I don't even know what to call this (private network? intranet?), so it's difficult to research it. I would rather not have more hardware involved, as we are talking travel here. Short version of the long story: no, I don't want to listen to the radio over the laptop.
Thanks!
Carol

Greetings!
I have had difficulties running the Linksys WMG54GS PCI card on W2K and XP. Attempting to install on W2K now. Problem is, the card installs (with drivers from Linksys site) as if it is an Ethernet card. Instead of options to "view available wireless networks", it simply exists on the tray with a red "X", for "network cable unplugged".

Is there something for WIFI networking in windows that I am not utilizing? Do I need to find a product CD? Found this note in Customer Reviews of an ebay listing for the product:
"---I had no problem installing on one computer....except that I installed the card before running the CD, just like every other card or peripheral I have ever installed. I've never seen one that didn't allow you to install hardware before drivers. So I had to take it out, run CD and put back in. Just a minor annoyance that cost 10 minutes. But c'mon Linksys why the special order? Most people that are willing to open the computer and install a card don't need instructions to know "take card and put in slot" and "insert disc", so they don't look at them. At least they put a warning sticker about the installation order on the disk cover for us non-direction readers. Annoying but no stars deducted for this. "

Sure hope not. Would have to go digging for the CD at a the friend's house I picked it up

In the Linksys download there should have been a Wireless Network Monitor that you need to install. It takes the place of the Windows Wireless Zero configuration that is in Windows XP and doesn't exist at all in Windows 2000. If should place an icon in your system tray to detect , configure and connect to any available wireless networks in range.

A Windows Service Pack installation has just switched my wireless management from the old Windows Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) which it had always been to Intel ProSet's.

Does anyone have experience comparing these two in terms of performance or functionality?

One thing thats very noticeable with Intel's is that the alert bubble pops up a hell of a lot. I usually use a wired connection, so it's often popping up. WZC didn't pop up nearly as often.

Thanks for any help on this.

ps: wasn't sure which section of the forum to put this one in... since the WZC is part of Windows, guess it qualifies to be here

Hey guys.
I opened up my laptop casing today in order to reconnect the cd drive. When I booted back up, my wifi icon didn't show up. I went to the intel program that manages it, and it says no device was found. I know I unplugged some things when I had the casing open, but I'm not sure now. What do you guys reccomend? Would the radio be easy to see inside?

I have a fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit on my L500-13T(PSLJ3E) .

Everything works, except the Fn keys, so I can not turn the WiFi on or off (also BlueTooth).

What software provides that functionality? I installed the "Flashcards" , but see no difference.

Is there another way to enable or disable WLAN and BT?

ok i have an acer 250 it had no wifi module fitted until i got one and wacked it in with antenna's installed ,i added the driver in xp it was all up and running as far as it could be seen from windows and searched for a nework that it couldnt find , i assumed a antenna problem so tried some different ones , but the same fault remained, i then changed the wireless card for another model of intel wireless added the drivers etc but still the fault remains ! so different antennas , and internal wireless cards but the same fault seems to point me in the direction of a bios or manual switch that is disabling the antenna from picking up networks , anyone any ideas.

just for reference i have checked my sid and many networks can be found by my other laptops just not this one Grrr

Hello,The day before yesterday I ran into problem which is rather peculiar. I was doing my own business on the laptop and decided to start watching TV Series "The Sons of Anarchy". Great show! I think I had watched around 5 minutes then suddenly the laptop made a strange noise and I could not hear any sound anymore. I though that the laptop was just tired and needed some rest, no biggies. The next day when I powered the computer the problem remained. Now I sawy that my WiFi icon next to the clock was disabled although I can still use the Internet, the icon is just in disabled mode. I cannot access program properties, windows updates, open pictures (class not registered) and probably there are other stuff too. I've tried installing and scanning with various AV programs, but all of the have failed. Maybe you guys can help me.This is my HiJackThis log file:Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.4

Hi,

As of last month I've had alot of issues with my wireless connection, it started on one of my laptops running Intel Wifi 5100 then it happend on my other running Intel Wifi 6200, both built in adapters.

Router is d-link dir-655 with firmware 1.33 when problems started, now it's running 1.34

WPA2 for security over the wireless

Updated both my laptopts to latest driver 13.1.1.1 from Intel but its still same problem.
Sometimes it detects the wireless network but can't connect, sometimes it can connect but drops connection after exactly 2minutes.

Tried with another router, same issues there.

Re-installed the laptop with the 5100-built-in card to win7pro 32bit, still same error just that its NETw5v32 spamming eventlog.

Anyone got any ides?

if updating the driver did not work, you might want to try this:
Go to Control Panel->System->Hardware Tab->Device Manager. Select Intel Pro under Network Adapters. Right Click and Select Properties, then under power manager, you can uncheck the box that say:
"Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

You might want to update power manager driver from the manufactue's site

Hi everyone!

I've recently did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate onto my Toshiba Satellite U400 laptop. For the most part I was online with a wired connection, and when I finally went to wireless, I started getting BSODs.

This SAME behaviour happened to me when I had Vista Home Premium SP2 installed before hand. I tried Ubuntu linux for a while and the wifi worked fine! (so maybe not a hardware issue? but a driver issue?)

I can make the BSOD repeatedly when flipping through picture albums on facebook for example. I have attached the debugging files in the hopes that someone with more technical knowledge can help me. I look forward to solving this problem once and for all...it is very frustrating

Hi -

I am finding 2 basic bugchecks in the dumps submitted -

0x9f - a driver is in an inconsistent power state
0x19 - bad pool header - the pool was already corrupted when the caller arrived

Ironically, both Intel wifi and your Ethernet drivers were named as the probable causes; I believe the Toshiba driver and webcam driver may be the real culprit(s) here -

Code:
TVALZ_O.SYS Thu Nov 08 19:07:46 2007 (4733CF02) - Toshiba
UVCFTR_S.SYS Thu Jun 26 01:25:19 2008 (4863526F) - Webcam driver

yk62x86.sys Mon Feb 23 06:44:18 2009 (49A2B642) - Marvel Yukon Ethernet
netw5v32.sys Thu Mar 26 09:10:37 2009 (49CBA8FD) - Intel wifi 5100/4965/39xx

The Marvel Yukon & Intel wifi drivers look fine to me. I suggest that you go after the Toshiba driver 1st, then the webcam driver -- check Toshiba for updates. If none, you'll have to disable the services related to them/ un-install the devices. The 1st w/ 2007 timestamp has caused problems in Vista and would most certainly do the same in Windows 7.

recently i was having major computer issues on my desktop, i did a full restore to factory settings and after doing a few windows updates i found that my network adaptor was not finding any signals. it does not show up in the change adaptor settings page or in the device manager page. when i troubleshoot my internet connection it says an ethernet cable is not properly plugged in. I have a desktop computer but it definately has a wireless network card. i used to get windows updates for it and it just stopped working one day. when i look in the BIOS the only option related to booting a network card is B03 D00 Yukon PXE. no matter when i boot it i still dont get wireless signals. when i go into the boot menu and try to boot this device it says " PXE E61: media test failure please check cable" i have opened the tower and the card is securely in its slot. i thought i would workaround by getting a usb wifi card. I installed it and connected to the internet and it alternated between having a connection to the internet and being connected to the network but not the internet. even when it is connected to the internet i cannot reach any web pages. my dropbox desktop files update very slowly (7kb/s). when i am connected with the usb card the network stops working for everyone else in the house. they can no longer reach web pages or continue downloads. please help.

I hope someone can help with this new problem I've encountered on my Toshiba Z835 laptop that's running on Windows 7.
Two days after installation of some Windows 7 updates, I discovered that none of the function keys on my keyboard were working (neither the FN key, nor any of the F1-F12 keys); and also the wifi function had been disabled and couldn?t be enabled/turned on. I've compiled a list of the recent update installations in case I may need to uninstall one or more items to solve the problem, but I?m hoping that some of the Windows 7 users here may have encountered the same issues and could share how they were resolved.

I should mention that I came across a thread on this forum concerning a similar situation after upgrading to Windows 10, in which several posts (including one from a Windows 7 user) reported success in turning on the disabled wifi function by running TSBWireless.exe (found here: C:\program files\TOSHIBA\Flashcards\ButtonSupport\); unhappily, however, that didn?t work in my case.

Any suggestions would be most welcome!
