I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Just purchased a X1 Yoga with OLED display - Windows 10, intel i7, etc. I have a Dell monitor at work and when I connect it to the HDMI port on my laptop, it recognizes the monitor (control panel/Intel HD graphics). However, the monitor keeps showing a message "No HDMI cable. the display will go into power save mode in 5 minutes". Does anyone know how to fix this? I tried updating all the drivers, the windows button + P, nothing works. I'm desperate!

I purchased an external monitor on Friday.  It worked on Friday and Saturday. Sunday when I booted up, the external monitor no longer worked. The history appears to show an automatic update occurred overnight.  I was running Windows 8.1.  I upgraded to 10.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the intel video driver, I reinstalled the chipset driver.  I have trimmed the micro HDMI cord as suggested in one of the posts.  I have seen enough posts on the various boards to know my issue does not seem to be an isolated case... but I haven't been able to find an explanation of the cause or a reliable solution.  Any help is appreciated.

I am using a usb-c to hdmi adapter to output to a TV but the black levels look washed out. I had no issues with the same TV and a previous laptop that had a dedicated hdmi port. In the intel graphics settings usually there is a "quantization range" setting to change color space between RGB Limited and RGB Full if the intel graphics is driving the hdmi port. However, in this case, there is no hdmi port but instead a usb-c to hdmi adapter, thus the quantization range setting is missing. I've had the same issue before on a previous laptop with usb-c. I've tried installing thel atest drivers, including the non-validated ones from the intel website, but none give me the quantization range setting.

My Thinkpad Yoga 15 has a problem, which may or may not be related to the BIOS update recently performed. When booting, the bootup screen only appears on an external monitor via the HDMI output. When performing the hardware tests in the BIOS, tests are done on the HDMI-connected display, the internal display does not seem to be recognized. I verified this using both Linux and Windows. It does not seem to be a hardware failure; I have been able to get the display on the internal LCD a few times, by powering down the laptop, holding the power button for about 20 seconds, then powering back on while pressing F1. The laptop will then function for a while, but loses its display after coming out of sleep. Needless to say, this is unworkable. Does anyone have any tips on how this could be fixed in a more permanent fashion or any indication to cause? BIOS does not allow me to turn off NVIDIA, or its opposite, to enable it exclusively. I also tried different drivers, from both Lenovo as well as NVIDIA and Intel, but to no avail. Any pointers appreciated.

When watching videos at full screen, or just in a browser, the screen will turn to half brightness after minutes of inactivity. I have my display set to only do this after an hour in "Power and Sleep" options. In advanced settings I have the auto brightness off, and the "dimmed brightness display" set to 100%. Am I missing something here? Is this something unique to the OLED display? I've never had this problem before in a laptop

I downloaded the firmware from here https://support.lenovo.com/cy/en/documents/acc100252 and when I execute it doesn't do much. I tried on cmd as an administrator, still nothing. I just bought a Lenovo X1 Yoga with OLED display. It is supposed to have very accurate colors (98% AdobeRGB, Delta-E at 0.55 or better with calibration), but when I tried calibrating it with my X-Rite i1Display Pro, I kept getting strange banding artifacts in the results (and yes, I did choose OLED display type before starting measurement in i1Profiler). Due to the strange banding artifacts, I had to go back to using the color profiles provided by Lenovo (they come in Native, Standard, Pro Photo, Movie Pro, Blue Light Cut for Office, Blue Light Cut for Reading). I use Pro Photo, which is AdobeRGB.  I've tried several times now, and I always get the weird banding artifacts. So does this mean X1 Yoga's OLED display cannot be calibrated with i1Display Pro?  When I compare X1 Yoga's colors with my Dell Ultrasharp U3011 (which is calibrated with i1Display Pro, and has 117% AdobeRGB color gamut, and 1.12 Delta-E after calibration), my U3011 is a bit cooler (a bit more blue, less yellow), while the X1 Yoga is warmer (less blue, more yellow).  So which is the more accurate one I can trust? Can the X1 Yoga OLED screen be calibrated without the banding artifacts? Has anyone tried calibrating the OLED display?

My X1 Yoga 2nd Gen OLED has a great feature wherein, outside of normal Windows screen dimming, within the Lenovo Settings app, user can set a "Task Bar Dimmer" timeout and a "Background Dimmer" timeout. This is described as a power-saving feature, but in reality its a great way to ensure that the OLED screen doesn't experience burn-in over time when on-screen items are displayed for prolonged periods. However, when I connect to an external monitor (which is almost always), the Task Bar Dimmer and Background Dimmer ONLY affect the external monitor and no longer affect the OLED display, where (IMO) this is far more important. Am I missing something, or is this a bug? Dimming the taskbar on the OLED is far more critical than on my monitor.

Got new X1 Yoga 2nd Gen OLED, having problems with the display settings.  The screen colors are incredibly rich and the colors are borderline neon and strain the eyes after more than 15 minutes of use.  I finally found a way to reduce the neon glow by going to the Intel Graphic Settings and adjusting the color gamut option slider from vibrant to one step down toward natural colors.  The problem, is that after a the computer is put to sleep or restarted, it goes back to the neon colors.  Is there a way to get these settings to stay without having to change it every time I open up the computer?  The display is amazing for viewing movies with super vibrant sharp colors, but when it's in vibrant factory settings its very bad.  The colors on webpages and onscreen keep increasing and decreasing in brightness randomly.

Hi, is it worth it to upgrade from Thinkpad X1 Yoga 1st Gen OLED to Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2nd Gen (2017) OLED? I am very happy with my 1st gen but found an inexpensive 2nd gen OLED on eBay. The CPU is faster (7600u vs. 6700u). Something changed about the mechanics of keyboard retraction. And USB-C. I want OLED so 3rd gen is out of the question. The SSD is smallish (256GB) on the 2nd gen from eBay, so I am planning to replace the ssd with a 970 Pro 1TB. Any problems I could experience with this?

The OLED display has developed various artifacts that occur with brightness above about 40; below that brightness, the display is perfect. The screen flickers; at higher brightness, gray and colored bands start to appear in the top half of the screen, with some jittery artifacts near the top. What is interesting is that this problem started suddenly, on the same day as an automatic Windows 10 update. The update was KB4100347: Intel microcode updates (for the Spectre vulnerability). This update is for CPU microcode, not display microcode, but the coincidence is hard to ignore. Windows Update and Lenovo Vantage report that everything on my computer is up to date. I have manually updated the drivers for Intel HD Graphics 520, OLED Display 2560x1440, and Intel OLED Panel Driver; this has not improved the behavior. Also, I tried turning off Panel Self-Refresh, which didn't help either (but that was for a rather different problem). This really seems like a software problem, so I am looking for other things to try before requesting Lenovo service. (The computer is two years old and out of warranty.)

I have a Yoga 11s that started having hdmi connection issues about a year ago and has recently quit connecting to an external monitor via HDMI completely. We tried upgrading to Windows 10 to see if that would overwrite any software issues - no luck. The HDMI port actually appears loose. I did an extensive search of the forum and found posts that recommended cutting down the rubber around the base of the hdmi cord - tried that and at least I had a little activitiy - in the upper right hand corner of the external monitor up popped a box that says DVI then VGA then HDMI - but then says No Signal. Tried the graphics card update recommended on a post from long time ago and a popup indicated I had a newer version already installed. I have taken it to a laptop repair place - said they couldn't get parts from Lenovo. I found an "authorized" Lenovo repair shop locally - when I called they said they only work on business machines Called Lenovo and they told me to take it to Best Buy - however since I purchased this directly from Lenovo, Best Buy said they can't work on it. I would rather not send it into Lenovo because they tried to charge my hubby hundreds of dollars when his 15 day brand new laptop quit working, claiming damage - luckily extensive pictures taken and dated prior to sending it in thwarted that attempt at extortion. Does anyone have any suggestions? Hi! Please help!

This was working fine before I had to format my computer. I'm about six hours deep in this it's killing me. I'll provide you with any info I can, but I'm far from knowledgeable about this kind of thing.

The problem:
My second display is recognized by my computer, but it receives no signal, showing a blank screen with no sound.

My setup:
Windows 7 64bit. I have a monitor as a main display and a TV connected as an extended display. The monitor is connected via DVI. The TV is connected via HDMI. The TV is a PDP-R04. My graphics card is an AMD Radeon R9 270X using the latest drivers (14.501.1003.0). The cable works tested on other devices with the same TV. The TV works. The source settings on the TV are correct.

Things I've tried:
- rolling back to previous display drivers
- uninstalling display drivers in safe mode and re-updating
- resetting CMOS to defaults
- booting computer with only the TV plugged in
- changing the TV's resolution settings
- crying

I experienced the same - and also inconsistently that the system is going sluggish/lagging heavily. To fix problem with HDMI downgrade to drivers for Win8.1 - it works but hopefully Lenovo will fix this issue with Win10 drivers!? Overall upgrading to Win10 has been a bad experience (regarding the lagging of the system which usually occurs after 20-30 min after logging on). I've tried removing all third-party startup programs (including Lenovos) - but to no help. The frustration is increasing - any tips will be appreciated :-)

Hi DT29! Welcome to our forums community. According to the product referrence, you can connect to a maximum of 2 external displays. With a maximum resolution of 5120x2880 at 60Hz through the USB-C or HDMI at 4096x2160 at 24Hz. May we know what OS version are you running? If you're using Windows 10, type 'winver' on the search box.

Hello Community, I am looking for your assistance regarding a topic with the external display I am currently using. I am running a Windows 10 on my laptop and after an update of the nVidia drivers - I have an issue with the signal going through the HDMI cable. While the External display is plugged in - it is using the Intel Integrated. I have came across a similar topic in here:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Lenovo-Z50-70-HDMI-not-working-when-connecting-... And I have done almost everything except the "RESTART" option. I have checked the HDMI cable and it is High speed - and yes, I am sure - the issue first appeared when I updated the drivers. Now I have reverted to older version of the drivers but still experience the issue.

My dad bought an Ideapad 310-15IKB about 15 months ago from Best Buy (USA). That puts it out of warranty, right? I used Lenovo Vantage to check for a display driver update and none was listed. A BIOS update was listed, but that does not seem to apply to this problem and I have not yet done the BIOS update (fix one problem at a time). In recent weeks his external HDMI display had started to flicker/shake A LOT, particularly on his Yahoo home page. I took one look at the shaking and thought "screen resolution problem." The Ideapad 310 "preferred" resolution (the max) is 1366*768. Up until a week ago he used a Dell display that did 1920*1080 and then the next lower resolution of that monitor is 1280*1024. Somehow the Ideapad 310 worked well with that monitor for many months in spite of the seemingly incompatible resolutions. But recently he started getting SUBSTANTIAL screen flicker/"shake" on the Dell monitor. It went on for weeks and then I lent him an HDMI cable and a Samsung HDMI display that does exactly 1366*768 = preferred 310 resolution & preferred Samsung display resolution. His HDMI cable was probably fine, but we changed out the cable, too. The new combo of Ideapad 310 + Samsung monitor still occasionally flickers, but not nearly so much as before. I am currently using his Dell monitor as a 1080p HDTV. It works perfectly. The way he uses the external monitor is:- after bootup the laptop displays on the laptop panel onl... Read more

Hello, I just bought an X1 Carbon Gen 4 and need to hook up 2 external monitors which have VGA, HDMI or DVI ports available. The idea is to have a 3 monitor setup (all three monitors with a resolution of 1920x1080) including the Built-in monitor and the 2 external ones. I have bought the OneLink+ adapter that has the RJ45 and VGA ports (4X90J31060) and am trying to set the whole rig up so that one monitor connects to the VGA port on the adapter and the other monitor is connected through the HDMI port on the laptop. The problem is that I can only seem to get 2 monitors going at a time, either Built-in & HDMI or Built-in & VGA. Before I go and buy more hardware (i.e. dock or MiniDP to HDMI/DVI adaptor), I was wondering if what I am attempting is even possible, and if it is, what I am doing wrong. Thanks to anyone who can answer.

Hi,Background on Issue I've had the Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2nd gen (product # 20JDCTO1WW; BIOS version N1NET46W 1.33) since it came out. It's running the latest build (non-targeted channel) of Windows 10 Pro with all Windows updates and all Lenovo System updates installed (through Lenovo Vantage app), as of this writing. The laptop has only professional/scientific software installed and it's strictly used in a work setting in a climate-controlled office (i.e. no exposure to extreme heat/cold, humidity, dust, etc.) (scientific/professional software like statistic analysis software, Office, browsing company websites and other non-entertainment professional sites, etc.) and there have been no system registry modifications, no 3rd party driver installation, or anything outside of the normal functioning of the system. There's > 250GB free from the 1 TB SSD, and RAM utilization never reaches > 50% even on the heaviest of workloads. IssueUp to Win 10 OS build 1607 back in 2016-2017, everything was running well. I was moving our Dell Studio 17 laptop and the screen went blank. I thought it did a power save or something. But I could not get it redisplay anything..no flickers, nothing.

I rebooted, nothing.

I opened up the back and reseated the ram and verified the hard drives were secure. I vacuumed out any dust. No difference.

So I tried using the HDMI with our TV and it displays just fine. I try to toggle the screen (function F8 on my laptop) and it makes no difference. HDMI is always shown.

In the past when we use the HDMI to display netflix movies on our TV, I hookup the HDMI and the laptop automatically switches to the HDMI display and turns off the laptop display. When I unplug the HDMI, it wouldnt turn the laptop screen back on. I would have to reboot with the HDMI disconnected for the display to come back.

Now rebooting doesnt not bring the screen back.

Anything else to try? are there settings somewhere forcing the laptop to not send info to its own screen? BIOS?

This laptop has an ATI card and uses the latest drivers. It does have the Catalyst control center where it detects the displays. It seems the 'unknown' laptop screen and TV (when HDMI is connected, the only way I can see the screen at this time)..but it calls them duplicates and calls both of them #1 display.

Thanks for the help

so last month I bought an Acer Switch 5 which doesn't have HDMI or VGA ports and was reassured that an USB-C to HDMI adapter would work for me to display presentations on customer/prospect screens when I visit their offices.
So far I have tried 2 different brands of USB-C to HDMI adapter cables and both show a USB not recognised error on the Acer.
So how to fix this?
Is it a brand adapter cable issue?
Is it a USB-C driver issue?
or something else?

I really thought in this day and age of laptop/tablet sophistication problems like this wouldn't occur. Feel like I want to go back to my 4 year old toshiba laptop with a VGA and HDMI port and no issues!

I have a new Inspiron 7567 gaming laptop; it has two graphics cards, the integrated Intel HD 630 and the 'semi-discrete' Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 ti.
Yesterday, I tried plugging it into my HDTV using an HDMI to HDMI cable. I have done this many times with my previous laptop, a Dell Inspiron n7110, and have had 0 problems. With the 7567, however, the TV just flickers for a moment and says "No signal". The computer reacts in a few different ways when the TV is plugged in:
In the Windows 10 "Display Settings", options appear for multiple displays such as "Extend Display", "Duplicate Display", etc., and with Windows + P I can choose these, however, only one screen is shown (which changes from 1 to 1/2 when HDMI is plugged in) and when I click on "Detect" it says that no other display is detected. Additionally, an extra Monitor (Generic PNP Monitor) appears in Device Manager when the display is plugged in.
In the Intel Graphics Settings control panel, there is no change when the HDMI display is plugged in. There are no multiple-display options, and "Detect" does not detect any other displays.
Finally, in the Nvidia control panel, when there is no external display plugged in, the only section in the left-hand tree menu is "3D Settings". Hi SI K,
If you haven't already done so can you update the Intel 4600 and AMD8690M first.
If the issue is still there then:
1. Restart the system and tap F2 to enter to the Bios
2. Navigate to 'Virtualization' and choose Disable (uncheck the box)
3. Also disable VT for Direct Io and Trusted Execution
4. Return to the main menu in the Bios and select Power Management Option and disable Advanced Battery charge configuration
Once you have done that check to see if the issue is resolved.
If it isn't then open the Intel Graphics Control Panel, go into Advanced Resolution and change the frequency for the LCD from 40Hz to 60Hz

Hi there, I cannot get my Ideapad 100-15IBD with a Intel Core i5-5200U cpu and Nvidia 920M to register my new ASUS VG245H 24 inch monitor via the HDMI port.Link to ASUS VG245H I have updated the bios, the chipset, and used the graphics driver (which is not the latest from Nvidia) on Lenovo's support site for the model, and still with no luck. Windows10 does not register the external monitor through the HDMI port when pressing 'Register under Display Properties when right clicking the Desktop. I have also gone into the Intel HD Graphics 5500 adapter and tried to see if I had to 'unlock' more screens but all it is set to is Integrated screen with no possibility to change it to more screens. I have also run Intel's Driver Support Assistant to see if I had some drivers out of date, but is says that all is up to date (see attached image). What I am doing wrong? Or is the HDMI broken? Thank you for any help. /ThorJ

Hi, We recently purchased two T470 laptops. Both of these appear to have display issues when outputting to an external monitor. Text will appear fuzzy/blurry and after a couple of minutes your eyes starts to hurt from trying to focus on it. Has anybody experienced any similar issues? We also have a T470s that is doing the same but it even has blurry text on the built in screen.
