I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an L380 provided by my employer and thought I'd come up with a good solution for connecting two external monitors whilst working from home. I purchased a USB C to HDMI Cable for one monitor and utilised a HDMI to HDMI cable for another monitor. As theres a USB C video enabled port and a HDMI port on the L380 I saw no reason for this to be unsuccesful. However, it would appear I can only have one display active at any one time. If I turn one monitor off, the other comes on... but I'm unable to run both simultaneously. Is there any reason why this is happening and what are my options for utilising two external monitors at the same time? Many thanks.

So i have a HP HDX16t with a 512MB Geforce 9600M GT video card running Win7 64bit Home Premium. The laptop has a VGA and an HDMI output. I currently have an external monitor (19" ViewSonic VX900) hooked up to the VGA output. Does anyone know if i can hook my second external monitor (also ViewSonic VX900) up as well through the HDMI port? The VX900 has VGA and DVI-D inputs, so i would definitely need an HDMI to DVI adapter (which i don't have currently). I have searched around on this, but havn't been able to find anything conclusive. Nvidia's 9600m GT page is sorely lacking in details.

I know i could set this up by buying a Matrox DualHead2Go adapter as well, but i was hoping to avoid spending an extra $200 that i would rather put into upgrading my aging monitors. Also the apparent downside to the DualHead2Go adapter is that i would need to place both monitors on one side of my laptop vs one on either side (as i had hoped to do).

My work purchased a Yoga 900-13ISK and two external monitors with HDMI and the traditional VGA inputs. I would like to connect the machine so I can run two external monitors simultaneously when I'm working from home. The best solution I have found is the type c adapter which will allow my to run one external monitor only. Does anyone have any guidance for setting up the machine to run two external monitors simultaneously? Thanks!

A:Yoga 900 - setting up dual external monitors?

Upon reading articles online about the Yoga 900, it does support dual monitors (HDMI or Display port), but you'll need a USB-C adapter. Does your USB C adapter have two display options on it?

Hi All OK, so I have a W530 with the mini dock 170W: great machine.  Originally I just had one external LCD, and no issues. I now have another LED, and I get screen flicker on both external monitors (laptop screen is fine). Details:-Windows 8BIOS 2.51Graphics: Quadro K2000M with driver 310.90 (updated to latest in hope it would fix issue)Of extra note: I have a dock at home and work, and both have dual monitors.  At home connection is DVI for both. At work, one is DisplayPort and the other DVI. 3 displays are Samsung, and 1 a Dell...all around 23/24" size. The setup at work did work without flicker at one point with two displays...it was flickering, and I played around with cables, and rebooted, etc. and after lots of time/frustration the flicker stopped...but since docking again, has started :-( I have read lots of google about ground loop issue: bit concerned about ditching grounds on monitors, and would have thought that if this is such a common issue, there would be a better solution supported/provided by the laptop manufacturers...so have not followed this suggestion... If anyone else is running a similar system without flicker it would be interesting to get your exact system spec to help determine which aspect of the system causes this... RegardsPaul.

I would make sure the notebook is firmly pushed down and into the connector on the dock.  I usually dock my machine fairly carefully, then push it down firmly after I know it is lined up properly.

I have a ThinkPad S1 yoga bought in Dec 2013. I have being using the mini hdmi to work of 1 external 1080p monitor these last few years and it has worked fine. I now want to add a new second 1440 x 2560 along side my 1080 x 1920 monitor for a dual monitor set up. (Mostly for spreadsheets, emails, web browsing etc.) I do not mind if one of these duplicates my laptop screen. I was going to get the onelink dock to enable me to do this however I am not sure if it will work. I know the resolution with dual monitors running off the dock is limited at 1200p. What I now want to do is use the mini hdmi on my laptop for one monitor and the onelink dock for the other, however I want to be sure it will work before I go and buy the monitor and dock. Alternatively I could buy an USB 3.0 to hdmi adapted to run the 1080 monitor and a usb hub for the extra usb's I will need. (I think the dock will use less processing power and would be a slicker set up so I imagine it would be better?) You?re  help would be appreciated as I have read there can be issues trying to get higher resolution monitors to work.

Sorry, I can't help fix your issue, but I wanted to let you know that you are not alone!  We have 7 Elitebook 840 G3's wth Windows 10 on the 2013 UltraSlim Dock as well, and they are all doing the same thing.  Both external displays will go black for a few seconds periodically throughout the day.   We are using HP EliteDisplay E242 displays for all except one user, who has ASUS displays, and they all have the same issue, so the display itself does not appear to be the issue. The VGA port seems to work fine, so this points to the Display Ports/driver being the issue.  I have tried all available driver updates, but nothing has resolved the issue. We are looking for a solution to this issue as well.

I have a Dell Latitude E7450 laptop with a E-Port Plus II port replicator connected to two external monitors using DisplayPort which will not output to multiple monitors.
I have another Dell model and when placed on the port replicator with two external monitors connected, booting into BIOS/UEFI the screen is cloned onto each monitor. However, when doing the same with a brand new Dell Latitude E7450 only one screen is active - the other is off. Within Windows itself, I can only have 1 monitor connected to the port replicator. If I undock, I can run 3 monitors independently indicating an issue with the dock rather than a hardware limitation with the laptop itself.
I believe the above tests eliminates the OS or driver issue and highlights a compatibility issue between the new Dell Latitude E7450 laptop and E-Port Plus II port replicator. I have tried this on 2 separate machines with the same results. I have also updated both the graphics drivers (Version 10.18.14.4170, A16) and the BIOS (Version A04) to the latest releases. I have also tried using DVI cables as well as swapping out the port replicators. Nothing works. In Windows 8.1 itself, it actually shows as two monitors active, but one is not on. If I swap out the monitors to a different brand, I get the same result.
Is there a BIOS/UEFI setting I need to change? Is there a newer port replicator or update I need?

Having just upgraded from XP using the Nvidia dual monitor desktops for years, I was surprised to find Windows 7 has this feature in-built with the added bonus of slideshow desktop images C00L!
So beyond Win7 eye candy which is better, Does it come down to games running faster under the Nvidia dual desktops, what is the general preference here?

A:Is Nvidia dual monitors a poor cousin to Windows 7 dual monitors?..

afaik, there is no real performance difference, as all stuff is handled by the nvidia driver anyway.

And of course the more monitors the higher performance hit as there is more screen surface to work on (the same as increasing resolution).

Btw, the main pityfall of the multiple monitors is that the taskbar is only in the primary monitor, but there are a ton of good third party programs that can handle this, like Actual Multiple Monitors.

Hi! I just upgraded to Win8 this weekend and so far I really like it. I discovered something this morning that now that the weekend is over is bugging the crap out of me and I need help. I work from home and use this alot so it would be helpful.

I am trying to do a couple things I could easily do in 7,
- have Chrome open in both monitors at once with different things on them.
- currently Chrome has no minimize/maximize buttons on the upper right like it used to. Makes it very hard to multitask.

I have 2 monitors, the main is a 23" touch screen and the second is an 18" non-touch screen.

Also, is there a way to have the taskbar to appear at the bottom always like it used to?

Thanks! I really appreciate the help!

A:Windows 8 Dual Monitors, need help having browser open in both monitors

Answered my own question. Google Chrome was showing in App mode. When I downloaded Chrome for 8 there is an option to have it show in desktop mode and the taskbar, minimize/maximize, and multi window option came back. YAY.

Now if someone could tell me why windows 8 won't fill the screen at the resolution recommended for my 23" monitor I'd be good!

Hello! Well, i own a Y510p. 1080p, single GPU and 8gb ram version, if it helps. Time ago I decided to install Ubuntu on a second partition, because of reasons. Using an Ubuntu .ISO the instalation worked flawlesly, but after a while the computer catched a nasty error. Whenever using Windows (both in 8.1 and 10), the computer would randomly get a BSOD. Sometimes it didn't happened in a week, sometimes it happened twice a day. It was pretty random, i was unable to figure out any pattern. Even the problem would change, from some kernel error to some critical process thing. Sadly, I don't remember the exact error. But everytime, the computer would try to boot via IPv4 and get stuck in there. One reset and working again. As you can see, it sucked, but I could live with it. I eventually had an unrelated problem with the pc and decided to format the whole thing. I kept Ubuntu and just installed Windows 8 again, the unrelated problem was solved but the BSOD thing was still there. And one more time, I had another unrelated problem that lead me to format the computer. Again. Because I wasn't using Ubuntu that much anymore, I decided to combine the partitions again for Windows. And voila, BSOD error is gone! Well, now I want to install Ubuntu again. Well, I mostly have to install Ubuntu because the programming course that I'm taking assumes that everyone is a good person with a proper Ubuntu instalation in their systems. I mean, I can live without it (and pass the course)... Read more

Hey Everyone, I've recently noticed my laptop slowing as I played games like h1z1 on the lowest setting. Eventually, I would get error messages about my GPU when the game would crash. I noticed my drivers were out of date and SLI was also not enabled. I have since updated the drivers and enabled SLI but I still get many of the same problems.  The laptop has two GeForce GT 750M's. I downloaded MSI afterburner and it shows both graphics cards at 135/405MHz at rest. But while gaming, the second graphics card remains at that same amount and relatively the same temperature while graphics card number one goes to about 1058/2499MHz and 75-90 degrees C temperatures. I've also taken out the ultrabay with graphics card number 2 out and put it back in to make sure it wasn't loose. I honestly don't know what any of the data really means, but I'm really hoping to get this fixed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Let me know if I can provide any more information!

Hello, I had a fatal error with the 24GB SSD and Condusiv ExpressCache software like 1-2 years ago. I bought 4 years ago a Lenovo Y510P with a 1TB HDD + 24GB SSD M.2 for cache, driven by Condusiv ExpressCache software. The first year, the SSD caching software worked like a charm, the notebook was fast and obviously the SSD caching worked. Then, I decided to upgrade the new released BIOS to v3.08, and after the process completed correctly, I started to have some heavy problems: the notebook couldn't shut down completely, it got stuck turning off, the disk usage was 100% almost all the time, the notebook was very slow. I fought this for a week, a really depressing week, I refreshed the system, rolled back to the previous BIOS, full reset to factory settings... nothing, the problem persisted. I decided to remove the SSD and that was it, no more problems, the notebook started to work just like before. It was the Condusiv ExpressCache what was causing all the problems, or the SSD itself. Once I knew it was the SSd, I tried many, many things to make it work again: I tried to update the ExpressCache software... nothing, the moment I put the SSD, I start to get all those problems again. I gave up. So, that was like almost 2 years ago. I recently bought a 500GB SSD, so I upgraded to Windows 10 and replaced the original 1TB HDD by the 500GB SSD. Now, I'm trying to use the 24GB SSD as an external storage drive. Hello, I am using y510p with GeForce 755m and it works fine when I am playing World of Warcraft on the laptop monitor.Recently I have bought a new monitor (Dell 4K Monitors P2415Q) that I connect via HDMI (1.4) cable and set "show only the second monitor option". When I start playing GPU temp go HIGH up to 100C' and then it turns off and switches to Intel internal GPU and I get 10 fps while my main GPU is cooling. The screen resolution and other setting are set to the previous configuration (1920*1080 etc) that worked well with 80 fps and GPU temp near 70C'.  I have tried to minimize setting even more and it did not help, I will try to replace the cable, but do not think it will help. Have anybody met the problem that GPU works badly with an external monitor? I understand that it has to transfer data over HDMI, but do not expect it to be that expensive.  I am using the last drivers and NVidia GeForce experience to optimize settings.

Hello dunna, welcome to Sevenforums

With a laptop, (assuming you have an HDMI port), it shouldn't be too difficult. However, laptops are different. For example, mine, you plug in the secondary monitor, and there is a function key (Fn) that you press, and the corresponding key to change the output mode (for me, it is F1). It should let you choose how you want to display to the monitor. Test it out yourself to see, but if you can't find it, let us know. It helps if you provide the laptop type, so we can tell you the keys exactly

Now, I'm intending on building a new stationary computer for it, but until then, I want to connect it as an external monitor to my current gaming laptop, whose screen unfortunately burnt out a year ago. The laptop in question is the Lenovo y510p Ideapad gaming laptop, which I bought about 5.5 years ago.So my question is, are there any dangers in doing so? For example, if my laptops graphics card isn't powerful enough or meant to process such a powerful QHD screen, can connecting the screen damage my laptop or the monitor itself?Thank you for your time.Best RegardsJonathan

Will the laptop charge and work like normal if I use the 120w charger instead of a 170w one?  Or do I need the 170w charger whether I want to game or not? I dont want to remove my SLI card.

I just bought a new TV and hooked it up to my Acer Aspire X1200 Desktop PC via HDMI Cable (HDMI from PC to HMDI TV input).

Every time I drag something over to the TV, (e.g. a Video)... the TV Picture works OK but I lose all the desktop icons on the PC Monitor and get an error report (one of which I sent for analysis).

In order to get the icons back, I have to reboot the computer and usually the icons are reconfigured in a cluster....i do not have 'align to grid' selected (Lucky I have a little Gismo which will reset the desktop items to my previously configured favourite layout).......

I have a VGA to HDMI Converter but did not use that yet because I am waiting for a splitter for the VGA Cable which will boost the signal to both monitors (and I believe would simply duplicate my desk top anyway).

If I could simply use the TV as an extension Monitor without all the problems after I have dragged something over to that screen, then I would not even have to use a converter or a VGA splitter.

Any ideas as to why my Desktop Monitor goes 'skewiff' after I push something out to the extension monitor?

One monitor with VGA connection and one with HDMI, both of the same graphics card (which from the Acer Aspire X1200 I am assuming is the integrated NVIDIA GeForce 8200).

If you press the (Windows Key + P) together, holding down the Windows key, is the option Extend selected? If not, can you select it please (still holding down the Windows key, press P a couple of times until Extend is selected).

How have you setup the two monitors, their resolution mainly but anything else?

Can you turn this off temporarily and test?

Yes, a VGA splitter will only duplicate the output, you will see the same image on both monitors.

I have 2 monitors. My main one is to my right and the other is to my left. I have to drag to my right inorder to go to the monitor on my left. I want to drag to the left where my second monitor is at? I don't seem to be able to do this can anyone help?

A:Dual Monitors

Right click an open spot on the desktop and select Resolution. Where it shows the monitors listed as 1 and 2, just drag the one you want to be on the left.

Hello everyone... I have grown very impatient while attempting to setup a second monitor to my computer. I have a NVIDIA Geforce FX 5200 and I have read that they are capable of running 2 monitors. I need to run 2 monitors in order to keep up with more online poker tables... The sooner the better.
My video card has the 24 pin slot, and the 15 pin slot on the back of the video card. I have bought cords/connectors so that both monitors are hooked up through seperarate cords... VGA/DVI? :-D Anyway...I figured that I could just hook both of them up and restart...

When I go to properties/display my computer only picks up one monitor... Please help me.

Maybe you have to go through a NVidia software, or maybe a NVidia wizard? I would think that if you installed the drivers AND the NVidia software what there would be an option somewhere to enable this.

hi, i'm trying to do either one of two things, both of which have the same end problem, i want to do dual monitor on my win 7 desktop, so, i have two choices, a regular (and outdated) monitor, or a new win vista laptop. I'm trying to get the pc to recognize one or both secondary monitors, and it will for a second, then beeps, flashes the screen, and says there's only one, beeps again, flashes, says there's two, repeats.

I don't know if it's the software or the hardware but it DOES see them but then says it doesn't, so i dunno. any ideas?

"One or both secondary monitors" ?

Vista laptop as a second monitor?

How many actual monitors do you have? Not including the one on the laptop.

If the laptop has a video IN port, what type is it?

What is the least expensive way to add a second monitor, not including cost of monitor

A:Dual monitors

All you need to add a second monitor is a graphics card with at least two display ports (which most do). Two DVI connections is recommended but you can use DP or HDMI as well. The desktop can be configured and arranged after through your video card's control panel.

Hello. I cannot get a dual monitor setup to work for the life of me. I've made a LITTLE progress though by tweaking the BIOS to load from the Mobo VGA port first on boot, but now the second monitor just stays lit up with the windows 10 logo and nothing else, while the first still works just fine. Windows will not detect the second monitor, nor will extending it on the projector settings work. The main monitor is plugged into DVI on an old ATI Radeon HD 7700 Series card. Forget the exact model and that. I believe it's an H.I.S. Radeon. But I'm going through all the options and i'm scratching my head here. help would be appreciated.

EDIT The Radeon card I have only supports one DVI connection and one HDMI. Both monitors I have are VGA/DVI.

A:Need help with dual monitors

I'll happily be wrong, but I don't believe you can run one from the mobo and one from the video card together.

Disable the mobo GPU in BIOS.

Then get an HDMI/DVI adapter so you can run the second monitor off the card with the first.
