I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So i have a HP HDX16t with a 512MB Geforce 9600M GT video card running Win7 64bit Home Premium. The laptop has a VGA and an HDMI output. I currently have an external monitor (19" ViewSonic VX900) hooked up to the VGA output. Does anyone know if i can hook my second external monitor (also ViewSonic VX900) up as well through the HDMI port? The VX900 has VGA and DVI-D inputs, so i would definitely need an HDMI to DVI adapter (which i don't have currently). I have searched around on this, but havn't been able to find anything conclusive. Nvidia's 9600m GT page is sorely lacking in details.

I know i could set this up by buying a Matrox DualHead2Go adapter as well, but i was hoping to avoid spending an extra $200 that i would rather put into upgrading my aging monitors. Also the apparent downside to the DualHead2Go adapter is that i would need to place both monitors on one side of my laptop vs one on either side (as i had hoped to do).

My work purchased a Yoga 900-13ISK and two external monitors with HDMI and the traditional VGA inputs. I would like to connect the machine so I can run two external monitors simultaneously when I'm working from home. The best solution I have found is the type c adapter which will allow my to run one external monitor only. Does anyone have any guidance for setting up the machine to run two external monitors simultaneously? Thanks!

A:Yoga 900 - setting up dual external monitors?

Upon reading articles online about the Yoga 900, it does support dual monitors (HDMI or Display port), but you'll need a USB-C adapter. Does your USB C adapter have two display options on it?

Hi, New EliteBook 840 G3 with discrete graphics and 2013 UltraSlim Dock using windows 10. I am using 2 HP Z23n screen, there are connected with 2 DisplayPort on 2013 UltraSlim Dock. I have 1 issues with this 1) My 2 external screens, connected to the 2 DisplayPort, started flickering then going blank and came back again without any flickering. Sorry, I can't help fix your issue, but I wanted to let you know that you are not alone!  We have 7 Elitebook 840 G3's wth Windows 10 on the 2013 UltraSlim Dock as well, and they are all doing the same thing.  Both external displays will go black for a few seconds periodically throughout the day.   We are using HP EliteDisplay E242 displays for all except one user, who has ASUS displays, and they all have the same issue, so the display itself does not appear to be the issue. The VGA port seems to work fine, so this points to the Display Ports/driver being the issue.  I have tried all available driver updates, but nothing has resolved the issue. We are looking for a solution to this issue as well.

I have a ThinkPad S1 yoga bought in Dec 2013. I have being using the mini hdmi to work of 1 external 1080p monitor these last few years and it has worked fine. I now want to add a new second 1440 x 2560 along side my 1080 x 1920 monitor for a dual monitor set up. (Mostly for spreadsheets, emails, web browsing etc.) I do not mind if one of these duplicates my laptop screen. I was going to get the onelink dock to enable me to do this however I am not sure if it will work. I know the resolution with dual monitors running off the dock is limited at 1200p. What I now want to do is use the mini hdmi on my laptop for one monitor and the onelink dock for the other, however I want to be sure it will work before I go and buy the monitor and dock. Alternatively I could buy an USB 3.0 to hdmi adapted to run the 1080 monitor and a usb hub for the extra usb's I will need. (I think the dock will use less processing power and would be a slicker set up so I imagine it would be better?) You?re  help would be appreciated as I have read there can be issues trying to get higher resolution monitors to work.

I have a Dell Latitude E7450 laptop with a E-Port Plus II port replicator connected to two external monitors using DisplayPort which will not output to multiple monitors.
I have another Dell model and when placed on the port replicator with two external monitors connected, booting into BIOS/UEFI the screen is cloned onto each monitor. However, when doing the same with a brand new Dell Latitude E7450 only one screen is active - the other is off. Within Windows itself, I can only have 1 monitor connected to the port replicator. If I undock, I can run 3 monitors independently indicating an issue with the dock rather than a hardware limitation with the laptop itself.
I believe the above tests eliminates the OS or driver issue and highlights a compatibility issue between the new Dell Latitude E7450 laptop and E-Port Plus II port replicator. I have tried this on 2 separate machines with the same results. I have also updated both the graphics drivers (Version 10.18.14.4170, A16) and the BIOS (Version A04) to the latest releases. I have also tried using DVI cables as well as swapping out the port replicators. Nothing works. In Windows 8.1 itself, it actually shows as two monitors active, but one is not on. If I swap out the monitors to a different brand, I get the same result.
Is there a BIOS/UEFI setting I need to change? Is there a newer port replicator or update I need?

Having just upgraded from XP using the Nvidia dual monitor desktops for years, I was surprised to find Windows 7 has this feature in-built with the added bonus of slideshow desktop images C00L!
So beyond Win7 eye candy which is better, Does it come down to games running faster under the Nvidia dual desktops, what is the general preference here?

A:Is Nvidia dual monitors a poor cousin to Windows 7 dual monitors?..

afaik, there is no real performance difference, as all stuff is handled by the nvidia driver anyway.

And of course the more monitors the higher performance hit as there is more screen surface to work on (the same as increasing resolution).

Btw, the main pityfall of the multiple monitors is that the taskbar is only in the primary monitor, but there are a ton of good third party programs that can handle this, like Actual Multiple Monitors.

Hi! I just upgraded to Win8 this weekend and so far I really like it. I discovered something this morning that now that the weekend is over is bugging the crap out of me and I need help. I work from home and use this alot so it would be helpful.

I am trying to do a couple things I could easily do in 7,
- have Chrome open in both monitors at once with different things on them.
- currently Chrome has no minimize/maximize buttons on the upper right like it used to. Makes it very hard to multitask.

I have 2 monitors, the main is a 23" touch screen and the second is an 18" non-touch screen.

Also, is there a way to have the taskbar to appear at the bottom always like it used to?

Thanks! I really appreciate the help!

A:Windows 8 Dual Monitors, need help having browser open in both monitors

Answered my own question. Google Chrome was showing in App mode. When I downloaded Chrome for 8 there is an option to have it show in desktop mode and the taskbar, minimize/maximize, and multi window option came back. YAY.

Now if someone could tell me why windows 8 won't fill the screen at the resolution recommended for my 23" monitor I'd be good!

Hello! Well, i own a Y510p. 1080p, single GPU and 8gb ram version, if it helps. Time ago I decided to install Ubuntu on a second partition, because of reasons. Using an Ubuntu .ISO the instalation worked flawlesly, but after a while the computer catched a nasty error. Whenever using Windows (both in 8.1 and 10), the computer would randomly get a BSOD. Sometimes it didn't happened in a week, sometimes it happened twice a day. It was pretty random, i was unable to figure out any pattern. Even the problem would change, from some kernel error to some critical process thing. Sadly, I don't remember the exact error. But everytime, the computer would try to boot via IPv4 and get stuck in there. One reset and working again. As you can see, it sucked, but I could live with it. I eventually had an unrelated problem with the pc and decided to format the whole thing. I kept Ubuntu and just installed Windows 8 again, the unrelated problem was solved but the BSOD thing was still there. And one more time, I had another unrelated problem that lead me to format the computer. Again. Because I wasn't using Ubuntu that much anymore, I decided to combine the partitions again for Windows. And voila, BSOD error is gone! Well, now I want to install Ubuntu again. Well, I mostly have to install Ubuntu because the programming course that I'm taking assumes that everyone is a good person with a proper Ubuntu instalation in their systems. I mean, I can live without it (and pass the course)... Read more

Hey Everyone, I've recently noticed my laptop slowing as I played games like h1z1 on the lowest setting. Eventually, I would get error messages about my GPU when the game would crash. I noticed my drivers were out of date and SLI was also not enabled. I have since updated the drivers and enabled SLI but I still get many of the same problems.  The laptop has two GeForce GT 750M's. I downloaded MSI afterburner and it shows both graphics cards at 135/405MHz at rest. But while gaming, the second graphics card remains at that same amount and relatively the same temperature while graphics card number one goes to about 1058/2499MHz and 75-90 degrees C temperatures. I've also taken out the ultrabay with graphics card number 2 out and put it back in to make sure it wasn't loose. I honestly don't know what any of the data really means, but I'm really hoping to get this fixed. Hello, I had a fatal error with the 24GB SSD and Condusiv ExpressCache software like 1-2 years ago. I bought 4 years ago a Lenovo Y510P with a 1TB HDD + 24GB SSD M.2 for cache, driven by Condusiv ExpressCache software. The first year, the SSD caching software worked like a charm, the notebook was fast and obviously the SSD caching worked. Then, I decided to upgrade the new released BIOS to v3.08, and after the process completed correctly, I started to have some heavy problems: the notebook couldn't shut down completely, it got stuck turning off, the disk usage was 100% almost all the time, the notebook was very slow. I fought this for a week, a really depressing week, I refreshed the system, rolled back to the previous BIOS, full reset to factory settings... nothing, the problem persisted. I decided to remove the SSD and that was it, no more problems, the notebook started to work just like before. It was the Condusiv ExpressCache what was causing all the problems, or the SSD itself. Once I knew it was the SSd, I tried many, many things to make it work again: I tried to update the ExpressCache software... nothing, the moment I put the SSD, I start to get all those problems again. I gave up. So, that was like almost 2 years ago. I recently bought a 500GB SSD, so I upgraded to Windows 10 and replaced the original 1TB HDD by the 500GB SSD. Now, I'm trying to use the 24GB SSD as an external storage drive. Hello dunna, welcome to Sevenforums

With a laptop, (assuming you have an HDMI port), it shouldn't be too difficult. However, laptops are different. For example, mine, you plug in the secondary monitor, and there is a function key (Fn) that you press, and the corresponding key to change the output mode (for me, it is F1). It should let you choose how you want to display to the monitor. Test it out yourself to see, but if you can't find it, let us know. It helps if you provide the laptop type, so we can tell you the keys exactly

Anyone smarter than me out there (that was meant to be self depricating), that could recommend a plain jain, cheap graphics card so I can hook up my second monitor? I'm not into gaming, just love having two monitors at work, and once you have two, you can't handle one, right?

Hello,

I recently installed Windows 8 and was playing around with it for most of the day yesterday, I was able to get both monitors up and working, I have a Vizio E470VL and a Sony SDM-P232W ... Yesterday I had the E470VL as the main Screen and it made the 2nd Display a Generic Nvidia Display monitor, but both were working..

So last night I watched some preseason football on the Vizio on HDM2 and when I woke up this morning, the Sony was still working but the Vizio (computer is on HDM1) had no signal input, while I noticed the extended screen was enabled meaning my mouse disappeared onto the other blank screen .. so the thought occurred to me to restart..

So I restarted, then it recognized my Sony with its proper settings instead of the Generic and only listed one monitor in the Display settings.. I did a detect device and was given a few options of adding another monitor, and tried to do that, without any success.. so then I detached the Sony, and tried to restart only with the Vizio on both ports, the one it was originally in and the one the Sony was in.. with no success, still no signal, checked the connections, and somehow I doubt it would be the cable and I admit that the symptoms in trouble shooting things kind of point to that, but the cable is new.. and would love to entertain other ideas before getting a new one..

any suggestions?

I have dual monitors installed on a computer at work. I have been trying to get the monitors to work together. The right monitor is working like a dream and the other one just sits there with no picture. The computer will find the monitor thats not working but the computer cannot identify it. All that I have been trying to do is extend the screen to both monitors for use. I have tried switching cables, switching video cards and nothing really seems to work. My next guess was to go into the registry, but figured i would see if I could get a reply faster here. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

A:Dual Monitors?

Would help to know the make and model of the monitors, how they are each connected, and to what video card they are connected to.

I have a Acer, Sony and a Compaq laptop and want to be able to attach to have 2 additional monitors through VGA ports. However I need both to be recognized as seperate monitors hence a splitter wont work. If it was a desktop I could install a dual vga video card but not with the laptop. I am thinking that the only way to do this is to get a usb docking station with video however I am not sure if I would have to plug the vga for the laptop into the vga(in) on the docking station in order to use the vga on it. What can I do?

Can someone give me an easy step by step for setting up dual monitors?

A:Dual Monitors

Plug in your second monitor and enjoy.

It varies depending on what video card you have. ATI tells us nothing. If it has two ports, you should be able to plug in a second monitor, and have it clone. From there, you need to open the settings and set it to extend not clone. Since I am not familiar with ATI cards, and each one varies, we cannot tell you exactly.

I will bet it will work if you just plug it in though.

I am trying to enable dual monitors on my system using Dell S2409W(Digital) as my primary and Dell 2007WFP (Digital) as the secondary. The primary monitor works fine, but the secondary monitor can't detect a signal and remains "asleep". The computer recognizes the monitor exists, and the extended display is enabled (I can move my mouse off the primary into the blank secondary monitor). How should I resolve this problem? Listed below are the specs of my computer using the Tech Support Guy System Info Utility.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to help

Have you tried simple troubleshooting such as hacking the secondary monitor works on its own and whether the setup would work with reversed roles? Should help narrow down the problem if we can know the outcome of these points.

Hello,
I just recently started running dual monitors, my first monitor is my laptop screen while my second monitor is a 19" Dynex lcd tv. The resolution on the laptop screen is set to 1280x800 where as the tv is set at 1440x900

My problem started when I decided to try and play a game on the tv monitor. The game was set in a 1280x800 resolution and as far as I can tell it must be changing the tv to a resolution it doesn't support, because i get the error message "Mode not supported". This also happens when I change the tv's resolution to a resolution below 1440x900.

I fixed the problem and as long as my laptop is open i can use the second monitor as a main monitor or a secondary one. However when I close the laptop screen the tv screen goes blank and displays the error message again ("Mode not supported"). What should happen is the tv should automatically switch to main and only monitor. So I am assuming somewhere in the computers settings this is messed up I just can't find where and its driving me crazy.

I can't find the solution in the nvidia control panel or in display settings.
Thanks in advance.

Hey All,

I just got a second monitor, and I want to be able to play a game on one, and watch a movie on the other, both using full screen. They are running off the same GFX card (8800GT) - when I open the game, the movie when running in full screen pans to the side on the second monitor and black, so I see half black screen and half desktop background, but I still hear the movie playing, when the movie is running in windowed mode and I open the game, the video just turns black, but with sound.

So how can I fix this? My PC is pretty good and should run fine, I dont know whether this is a config problem or what..

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I have a desktop running Windows 7 and a laptop running Linux Mint... And for some reason, I can't extend my screen from my desktop the my laptop. Can anyone walk me through how to do this?

A:Dual Monitors

You can't. It's a laptop, not a monitor. How is it even connected? There isn't a video input on a laptop, just a video output.

So I'm a newbie to the site and I just want to say I like all the great advice that people are giving. I want to start of with my problem. I want to run dual monitors with a s-video out and run rca's to my television on my Dell Dimension DIM300 Pentium 4 2.8 GHZ and 512 mb ram. Both monitors that I have are vga LCD flatscreen. I have been reading everything that I can trying to find what video card I should use. I will primarily be using it for viewing videos and eventually doing some editing on it, but I want to have the ability to use my t.v. in the mix and view videos and dvd's through it. I am of intermediate skill level so I have some knowledge, but I don't know exactly what I should look for whether it is brand, specs of the card etc. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
FJB

A:Dual Monitors??

Well if u cant find a card with both 2 VGA outputs and a tv out jack on it then u might have to go with one with a DVI and a VGA and a tv. out and jsut buy an adapter to make the DVI into a VGA. For just watching videos, Any video card will be sufficient

Ok I used the search feature and I am going to say I cant do this but I would like to mkae sure by asking my own question

I have a radeon x850pro video card, a 19" lcd and a 19" crt, a disabled onboard (STOCK) video card as well. Is it possible to run dual monitors on this win xp system ?

I seem to remember in the manual of my radeon card it said I was able to.

Thank you

A:Can I do dual monitors

Yes, it should work fine. Hook the VGA plug to the CRT and the DVI to the LCD. Then go into ATI Catalyst Control Center and make your LCD desktop 1 (primary) and the CRT as desktop 2. You can set the resolution independently for each monitor.

You could also hook-up the s-video output to your TV.

I have a dell dimension 2300 computer that has on board video. I have installed a pci ati all in wonder 128 pro video card. I am wondering if both video outputs can be used to run two monitors. I can go to the device manager and under displays it shows the ati as enabled and the on board disabled. I have enabled both cards and then chickened out, not knowing if I would be able to get it to work again. If I hook up the second monitor and enable the on board graphics are all kinds of bad things going to happen.

A:Dual monitors

Should work fine but you are asking that little 2300 to work harder.
