Yoga 13 HID Touchscreen Driver

Q: Yoga 13 HID Touchscreen Driver

The driver download page for this model is pretty comprehensive, but one driver I'm missing is for the touchscreen itself. I believe the touchscreen manufacturer for this model is Elan MicroElectronics, and that the part is the Elan MicroElectronics 10 point touchscreen. When I go to the Elan website, it refers me back to the system integrator (Lenovo) for drivers. Is there a generic Windows driver in Win 8.1 that works with this hardware? (Before you ask, this is a unit that had a failed/replaced hard drive, so no D: partition is available with the original drivers.) Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

So I recently bought a refurbished Yoga 3 Pro. I don't have any real warranty and I would rather not return it just for the touchscreen, as I don't plan to use it often. However, I'd like to try to fix it if I can. I powered on the laptop and opened it to the pre-installed Windows 8.1. I went through the setup, and everything worked great except for the touchscreen, which does not respond at all and acts like a normal, non-touch display. I suspected it to be a driver issue, but as I already intended to use Ubuntu on this machine and I often have to reinstall drivers for Linux anyway, I decided to ignore it for the time being. Now that I have Ubuntu installed, I'm back to trying to figure out the touchscreen issue. I haven't been able to find where the touchscreen output is located, but I'd like to try installing the drivers and see if I can get it working anyway. If anyone has better advice, please let me know. Otherwise, I need to know: does the touchscreen interface through a serial port, and if so is there a specific one it defaults to? Thanks!

When I resume my laptop from sleep, sometimes the touchscreen driver crashes and then the touchscreen stops working. The solution is to go into the device manager. Disable and re-enable the crashed USB device. It seems to me there might be a bug in the driver and I'm looking for an update to the driver. Anybody any idea?

I can not believe how many issues I have found online with the Yoga 2.  Whatever, it's faulty.  That's no longer to be decided - however - I am in need of the actual Touchscreen Driver.  Nowhere on this site have I been able to find the Touchscreen driver - ONLY the touchpad driver.  The Display driver did not appear to have a sub driver containing the touchscreen...and since Lenovo doesn't offer live chat I am stuck here on these forums looking for a driver for something that should be readily available considering all of the touchscreen issues this thing seems to have.  The touchscreen simply does not work, and in DevMgmt it says the driver is missing.  So, I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction to get this thing working. Thanks.

In device manager I have ITE Device 8530, Touchscreen and another device that do not have drivers. I am unable to find any. I have updated Windows, Lenovo software, and Intel drivers. None of these things made a difference.

Happy holidays, all -I recently bought my girlfriend a Yoga 720 when they went on sale at Best Buy. She loves it, but the touch screen doesn't work at all. It seems insane Lenovo hasn't addressed it, and more so, tells users its a hardware problem when it clearly is not. Thank you for any help you can provide. I'm losing my mind trying to fix it and would hate to bring the laptop back!

A friend of mine brought his Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11E touch - by today because after he did a "clean install of windows 10 Pro. his touchscreen is no longer working...I've just spent the last 2 hrs. installing the "lenovo" drivers and software packages...But can't seem to located the HID touchscreen drivers or any documentation to support the touchscreen on the "Lenovo" site...I've also tried all the "lenovo" whiz bang apps the fix this issue...Does anyone have this model: Intel Celeron N2930 (2.16 GHz),8GB RAM,128GB Solid State Drive,11.6in 1366x768 Touchscreen LCD,Intel 802.11agn wireless,4c Li-Ion,Win8.1 Pro 64 - (Lenovo's description of this PC) that has been able to get the touchscreen working post windows 10 install? Or a link to the correct drivers for the touchscreen? Or could Lenovo support maybe point to these packages so I can get this thing working as marketed...

Hi thereFew months ago I bought a Yoga 520, and I never had any problems with it. Mostly used it for work, and drawing with my wacom tablet. Tried the touch screen a few times, everything was fine. However, today I wanted to try drawing with my finger on the screen, and I realised the touch function of the touchscreen is not working. I always allow WIN10 to update itself, but since I'm not using the touch function regularly I couldn't say when it stopped working. What I've tried so far:Updated drivers, all of them. Checked Lenovo Vantage for new drivers, everything is the latest. Tried uninstalling the driver of the Wacom device from device manager. (btw in device manager, the wacom device has a yellow ! and on the Properties windows it says 'A request for the HID descriptor failed'.Again, installed every driver from Lenovo Support page I could. Tried basically everything suggested in the similar topics in this forum, and on Microsoft's page. Please tell me, you have something figured out other than 'reinstall your PC', because I don't think a notebook in this price range should be reinstalled after 3 months. Is it because a windows update? So should I wait for another update to fix this, or should I just bring it back to where I bought it?Thanks in advance, have a nice day.

I've had my Yoga 900 for just a little while (got it the day that showed up in stores). I love it, save for one thing. One time, it got into this mode where touches would randomly appear on the screen (the little dot you get when you do a touch). At the same time, random keys seemed like they were being pressed. And you'd press the keys on the keyboard but they'd give you a totally different keystroke than they were supposed to. This persisted through two whole reboots. But it wouldn't happen 100% of the time. It'd be fine for a few minutes, then start doing it again. I managed to get a BIOS update in and a reboot, and the problem seemed to go away. But then in the last day or two, it has come back, albeit much much less horrifically. They'll be a stray touch on the screen with my hands nowhere near it (I'm almost always in laptop mode). Or something weird will happen like my browser will open a new tab that there's no good reason for. All of these might be phantom touches, but some could be phantom keys as well. Anyone else run into this? It seems like it's probably the hardware, though I can't rule out software.

I've not seen this reported previously for the Yoga 900, but a driver update for the Yoga 3 14 (I believe) fixed a similar issue. So, if you would, please confirm which video driver version you have, and compare it to what's listed in the driver listing: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-900-13isk

i am using Lenovo Yoga 3 and after i downloaded Microsoft Office 2013 it stopped working. I tried going through the control panel and the human interface, tried enable and disable but it still didnt work. Also tried the Mouse and Touchpad setting but still nothing happened.Even if i use it as a tablet or at tent mode the touchscreen wouldnt work. I am very frustrated here. If anyone could help me with this issue i would highly appreciate it. Thanks

I bought a Lenovo Yoga 13 almost a year ago and recently I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and I've been having touchscreen issues ever since. Everytime I restart or wake make computer back up from sleep/hibernation the screen has this white square on the screen, it looks like this: The mouse is stuck here, but I found some weird trick to get the mouse unstuck and make the box go away. I just touch the screen with my finger where the box is and move it back and forth a few times and the mouse becomes unstuck. However, it leaves 2 white circles on the screen that stays there forever. Here is a picture of those circles. This makes windows think I am touching the screen when I'm really not and therefore I can't click things anymore because if I actually touch the screen then it thinks it's a 2-finger touch which turns into a zoom.  I've looked around and seen that some Lenovo Twist user has this problem here and he/she seemed to fix it with touchscreen firmware updates. However, I cannot seem to find any such fixes for the Yoga 13 since there is no touchscreen firmware update on the drivers site. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix the problem? FYI, I'm not sure if you'll need it but here are my comp specs:

I can't believe that nobody from Lenovo has addressed this yet. It's so maddening, I'm having the EXACT same problem and I (along with several other people) have been posting about it for months, and we haven't heard so much as a word from Lenovo tech support...so frustrating....

I have a brand new yoga 700 and I was ready to ship it back to Lenovo.  My touchscrren were not working properly and I had ghost touches.  I found nothing related to this issue for the yoga 700.
 
However, some people had the same issue with the Yoga 3 14.  see https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht103512
 
After verification, I realized that I have the same hardware (LG) .  I applied the firmware recommended in the article and now my touchscreen work perfectly.

Hi all, I've seen a few other posts on this subject, but haven't noticed anything too recent.  I've run into an issue with my brand new Yoga 720 where my touch screen fails to work.  Upon opening device manager, I see that my Wacom Device has a little alert next to it.  The error reported by the device is: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)  A request for the HID descriptor failed." I have tried to reinstall the driver multiple times.  I've grabbed both the Lenovo and the Wacom versions of the driver with no success. I just got the machine today.  The touch screen did not work during the initial installation process, so I don't think the updates are what killed it (as reported elsewhere).  It's also not promising that things magically started to work again after some amount of time. I suppose I don't mind taking the laptop back, but it's otherwise such a nice little laptop (widespread issues with cheap display parts notwithstanding) that I'd really like to be able to hang on to it. Any assistance and / or updates on this problem would be appreciated!

Hi everybody ! I really need your help. I've bought a Lenovo YOGA 300 11-BY with Windows 10.But all the factory stuff (McAffee, Lenovo utilities, and other bull**bleep**...) are too long to clen completely. So I proceed to a Windows 10 total resettlement, with an usb key directely on windows (the bios was telling me "USB boot no supported" ?!).Anyway, with my fresh Windows all the drivers was correct (I have sound, wifi, ethernet, touchpad...) without any setup from me. But I loose the touch screen !!! I try to setup "lenovo utilities" and "mode controle" from lenovo support. I scan the drivers with specialized webssite, but nothing for the screen. And I dont have the Humman Interface Devices in the windows device manager to see if it's activate or not (like on this picture).? So i'm really lost and i need to have the computer OK for the next week-end (this is a gift).Sorry for my bad spelling (I'm french), and I hope this is understandable. Thank's a lot to everybody who can help me !

I received my Yoga 3 Pro just over a week ago and it has been great - I love it. This evening, in the middle of playing a game, the touschscreen went unresponsive. I did a restart and it worked for a few minutes then stopped again. Right now it is going back and forth between working and not working. I have gone through the forum post located here - https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Edge-Yoga-Flex-Laptops/Yoga-touchscreen-not-working/td-p/902131 - and these methods DO NOT work as it is for a different model - so they do not apply.
 
The touchscreen detects my fingers - when you tap the screen you can see the bubble where you touched - also, on a webpage or in a menu, I can scroll using the touchscreen - but I cannot click/tap anything - I cannot move windows, nothing.
 
As this is a brand new and quite pricey ultrabook, I am looking for a simple solution.

I have tried all the methods in the Touchscreen not working thread with no avail - I understand those methods are for the Yoga 13 but I was hoping I'd have some luck, and I haven't - does Lenovo have any response on this subject? It's quite disappointing to see so many unanswered issues on a brand whom I've always respected (but honestly never owned for personal use except for a tablet which I sold to get this)

I received my X1 Yoga Gen 2 about a month ago and the touchscreen stops working after using it with the pen.  From what I can tell, the screen starts working again by switching from Laptop to Tablet mode.  The pen works fine for a few minutes of use and then stops selecting but I still get a cross hair on the screen? eventually the cross hair stops show up to.  If I switch the computer back to Laptop mode the screen starts to work again.  Anyone else have the same type of problem?

Hi, I have a yoga 3 14 running on windows 8 and since I bought the pc i been having ghost touches on the touchscreen. I ran the update that lenovo rolled out to fix the issue but during the cmd it ran, it failed. It also disabled my touchscreen but tapping on the windows logo icon on the bottom of my yoga still works. Only the touchscreen isnt working. Under hidden devices the hid complaint touchscreen is there but hidden. I cannot enable it. And my tablet pc control panel is also not there like it used to be. Any ideas? Thank you.

My Yoga 12 touchscreen had lots of smudges and fingerprints. I tried cleaning with a lint free cloth and water, but it didn't do the trick, so I naively added a drop of alcohol to the wet cloth. Oops! It now has weird streaks and discoloration (that only can bee seen when the screen of off, btw). But how can I clean this or refinish the touchscreen to remove the marks the alcohol seemed to create? Lucy?

I dual boot my yoga 920 with manjaro. Yesterday, I was trying to install the wacom feel driver to windows, the the installation crashed and when I tried to restart, my yoga blue screened for driver error. I reboot and everything seem fine in windows. However, in manjaro-linux, the touchscreen does not work anymore. I had this probleme previously, but I think the firmware update fixed it. But a this moment, there is no firmware update to save me. I dont know what to do Thanks for any help

Hi so I bought a Lenovo Yoga 700 only a day ago but I'm experiencing some weird thing with the touch screen. I have looked it up and can't seem to find a solution. I don't have ghost touches it more like if your on the desktop and you drag your finger across the screen as if you were making a section box as you drag it register's clicks across the screen instead of dragging if that makes sense. If I scroll through the programs list instead of scrolling it will think I have just clicked an icon. Is there any solutions for this or is it a bring it back the store job ? Thanks in advance

Hey everyone, I picked up my Yoga today, and I love it. However, about an hour ago the touchscreen went completely unresponsive. The last thing I remeber doing, before noticing the touchscreen becoming unresponsive, was installing the Android SDK. (Well, I ran the installer, but it didn't recognize JDK). So, here I am, with the touchscreen not functional at all. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried the "refresh" and that didn't work. I'm probably going to try the wipe/clean install option in a bit. I guess that would tell me for certain if it's a hardware problem or not. I'm really hoping this isn't a design flaw with the 360 hinge causing issues. I really like the laptop, and would rather not have to deal with hardware issues like this down the road. :/ I'll be calling support in the morning, but was hoping to get this resolved tonight if anyone has had a similar problem.  Thanks!

perhaps that program just donīt work with WIN8?
 
Try a Windows system restore and restore it to a point before you tried installing Android SDK.

A few months ago I started experiencing problem with constant error of I2C HID driver on my Yoga 510-15ISK. I used to "solve it" by turning the driver off and on in device manager and it worked for some time. This week it said that "A request for the HID descriptor failed" (code 10) and I can't do anything with it. I tried to update and reinstall the driver, online Lenovo diagnostic, Windows troubleshooting with no luck. Is there anything else that I can do besides sending Yoga to service? Help, please! Windows 10 Home x64Intel i5-6200 2.3 GHz8GB RAM

I need to disable the touchsreen on my Yoga 260. I have tried disabling and uninstalling the 'HID Compliant touchsreen' in device manager however it always reinstalls itself within a few hours. How can I disable the touchscreen so that it cant just turn itself back on?

I have a funny problem with my X1 Yoga: when I touch the touchscreen with the finger or pen, the laptop locks my account. You can see in the following gif how the screen goes to black (video driver problem?) and then when it comes back Windows is in the lock screen.  Any idea what may be causing this? Please run the Hardware and devices trouble-shooter:
Try the followings steps: ? Click "Search" and type "Troubleshooting" without quotes and hit enter. ? Click ?Hardware and Sound? ? Select "Hardware and Devices" ? Click next to run the trouble-shooter.
 
Also, Install all the patches and available updates from Windows updates.
 
Try the followings steps:  Click "Search" and type "Windows update settings" without quotes and hit enter. Under Updates click on check for updates.

I am running Windows 10 on my Thinkpad Yoga, and a few days ago the touchscreen simply stopped working. I do not remember installing any new upgrades, or tinkering with system settings; it just stopped. Hi all,  I have bought 2 weeks ago an Lenovo Yoga 2 13, and I?m very happy with it. But i have one annoying problem with it.The touchscreen is not working correct. If I start the computer up, the first 5 minutes it works fine, but after that the touchscreen is not responding correct, the pointer is going everywhere and zig zag. You can't use it anymore then. I have made a paint drawing to show the problem, i made a few horizontal lines over the screen. none of the lines are straightI hope that you can help me to resolve the problem, it?s very annoying that I can?t use the touchscreen.

I own a Thinkpad X1 Yoga (1st Gen) (model 20FQCTO1WW). Despite that I have owned it for 18 months, I have a stupid question:  Is the plastic film that overlays the touchscreen just something protective that can / should be removed? Or - since this is a touchscreen - is it integral to the operation of the display (so peeling it off would damage the display)?  On mine it is trimmed right to the black plastic bezel with greater precision than any temp / throw-away protective film that I have ever seen before, wihch makes me think that maybe it's supposed to be permanant. However, mine is also slowing turning milky / opaque. If I don't need it, I'd like to remove it. But, of course, I don't want to damage my $2k computer. I've trie to research this, but can't find anything on it.

The film is for temporary protection,, but keeping it doesn't hurt anything as long as the screen has enough sensitivity.

Hi, Got my Yoga on Sunday and have been delighted with it up to now with the exception of one thing - the touchscreen. Essentially it doesn't seem to like it when I drag on the screen with my finger, and quite often jumps wildly all over the place with its understanding of where I'm touching. I know that's not a terribly helpful description of the problem, so I drew this - it's my attempt to draw a spiraling pattern from centre outwards on Paint.net:  The odd thing is that the touchscreen works like a dream when I first turn the laptop on, and rebooting fixes the issue without fail - for all of 20 minutes to half an hour or so, when it starts with the problems again. The driver is up to date, as is Windows, I've calibrated it, I've made sure that the computer doesn't try to save power by turning it, or the "USB Input Devices" off (the latter being a suggestion I read from somebody), but none of this has helped. I'd really appreciate help on how to resolve this, as it is making an otherwise brilliant laptop unusable in 3 of the 4 positions! Thanks,Joe

Main issue im having is the keyboard is acting very bizzare. First keypress does not register when I start typing or after pressing the spacebar. shift keys and backspace are intermittent. for example, on this sentence i had to press the "f" key twice as well as press every letter twice after each press of the spacebar. Reinstalled drivers, system restore, malware scans all to no avail. i'd guess it's a hardware issue.now the touchscreen:does not work 99% of the time but randomly appears to. When it's not working windows tells me no touch is available for this display. Seems like a poor connection to me as well as I can't seem to find touch screen drivers. anyone have experience with this?

Hi All, So I've had this aesthetically pleasing yoga 3 pro for about a month with the purpose for it to be used as a Uni Laptop.  However I've come across a few issues that I am hoping I can get some help with. Firstly, I've lost all ability to use the touchscreen. Windows Device Managers is seeing it, but I have no way to enable/disable or test. Is there something I am missing? Secodly, through basic use I am finding the CPU and RAM usage well in excess of 80% for a lot of the time, with the system coming to a near grinding halt if I have approximately a dozen chrome tabs open, a couple of office docs and youtube or spotify running....this is a little worrying. Specification wise the laptop should be able to run the with very little hassle. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I too have been having this problem. I bought my yoga 2 13" laptop about 2 months ago and the phantom touches started about a month later. At first I thought maybe the screen was picking up the fingerprints left on my screen or that there was a lag in response when i would touch the screen and nothing would happen but after reading other posts I can see this is a much bigger problem. When it starts I can'tget control of anything and have to wait for it to eventually stop and then restart my computer.  I found that this makes things subside for a while but then it starts all over again with no rhyme or reason.The most annoying part is that it closes my open tabs on the browser and sometimes opens others that are saved on my favorite bar. I'm worried that one day I'll be in the process of writing a paper for school and it deletes it before I get control of the screen.  Had I known this was such a common issue I would have never bought this laptop. Here I thought I was making my life a little easier being able to bring in my laptop to class and take up as little space as possible but looks like I will not have the option of using the touch screen if this is not easily resolved.

I have a similar problem with my Yoga 3 14 (I7). It works from a fresh boot, but if it goes to sleep, or sometimes sits for a while even w/o the screen blanking, the touch scrren doesn't respond to touches, but does have 'phantom' touches. Turning off and back on fixes. I got the laptop about a month ago. This seems to be a driver issue to me.

Here is how the problem appeared:1. I received a new 20FQCTO1WW. First-time booted fine, touch and pen were working at this time.2. Repartitioned the drive and installed Windows (10 pro, the retail version)3. Installed wifi driver from Lenovo support page (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x1-...)4. Installed Lenovo System Update and used that to get all the drivers, etc. At this point device manager shows nothing missing, I see all touch screen, pen, Wacom device and all the things but touchpad and pen input doesn't register anything.  I suspect firmware/driver issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Just as a side note, touchscreen as well as brightness adjustment doesn't work out of the box on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, if anybody has ran into this and found solutions.

Hello, I recently purchased a refurbished Thinkpad Yoga 14. The touchscreen has never worked, so I'm wondering if there's any driver I'm missing? What is the driver for that? Thanks!
