I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am attempting to transfer the motherboard of my h50-50 to a different case.  I am doing this in order to make room for a much larger video card and psu that simply will not fit in the Lenovo case.  I have run into a bit of difficulty with the 'Front panel connector'.  If you look in the 'Lenovo H50 SeriesHardware Maintenance Manual' it is on page 28 (Lenovo H50-50).  I have been trying to find the specs on what each pin is for but have been unable to find such information.  Could someone please direct me to where I can find such information or could you please provide me with the details?  Specifically I am looking for the power switch pin(s), hdd activity pin(s) etc. thanks

A:H50-50 motherboard Front panel connector pin layout

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
There is no documentation that I am aware of that show the pinouts of the various connectors on your motherboard.  I would just use an Ohm meter on your old H50-50 case and trace wires on the old front panel plug.  Once you know how the old plug was configured you will know the pin assignments on the motherboard.

What is the layout on the motherboard for the front panel LED connectors?  The XPS 9000 manual does not specify that at all.  The motherboard itself is model number 0X501H, as given by CPU-Z.

Is the layout the same as the one listed in this thread below regarding the XPS 8500?

That product ID is for Dell Windows 7 Professional using OEM System Locked Preinstallation. It is not a Product Key. See here for more details:
Note you can also clean install Windows 10 RS1 and activate with your Windows 7 pro OEM Product key but that key should be printed separately on the systems affixed COA:

I am wondering if the Optiplex 7010 will physically accept the 850W PSU from the Dell precision workstation. I can't seem to find any dimensions for the stock PSU in the Optiplex, and the Optiplex has that latch that snaps in front of the PSU.

I am aware that the CPU power on the Optiplex is 4-pin and the Precision PSU only has 8-pin, but maybe I can modify it or get an adapter.

What kind of motherboard is in the dell optiplex 7010 sff? I am interested in moving the motherboard into a new case.

A:DELL OPTIPLEX 7010 motherboard

It's a completely proprietary mainboard - you will not be installing it into a standard case without a lot of rewiring, cutting and drilling sheet metal, and on the fly engineering.
If you really need more features, start with a case, power supply and a standard mainboard - otherwise, be sure you know what you're in for.

Always best to match memory--2 4gb is better. Mismatched memory runs at the slower speed. Check Crucial or Dell for memory specs.

So I have a sff 7010 and I want to put in a graphics card that isnt a small form factor one. I am considering buying a 7010 mt and transporting the motherboard into the new chassis. Is this possible?

A:Dell Optiplex 7010 motherboards

Only if both motherboards and front panels on the cases have identical wiring in the connectors, and the front panel circuit board in the MT case can be correctly recognized by the SFF motherboard.
Dell frequently uses different connectors in different models and doesn't make that wiring public, meaning unless you or somebody else has mapped those connectors...

Hello - I am new to this forum and created an account simply to post these directions on how to get 3 monitors working on a Dell Optiplex 7010. I spent hours and hours trying to get my displays working (spent $750 on 3 Dell P2719H monitors and could only get 2 working at a time)... Hoping that if someone else has this issue that they will be able to use this "guide" to resolve their issue. There is another post on these forums where a guy went through the same steps I went though - and got the monitors working - however, he did not post a link to the "Intel HD Graphics" driver that he used to resolve the issue. I have included the final post he made in the body of this message.

PC = Dell Optiplex 7010 - Windows 10 Enterprise build 1703 (these steps will work with windows 7 as well - I am not sure about windows 8.)
Processor = Intel Core i5-3570S @ 3.10ghz
GPU = Intel HD 2500.
Monitors = Dell P2719H x 3 with 2 connected via Display Port & 1 VGA

If you read the message below from the previous poster - you will see that Dell and Intel both told this guy that there was no way that he could connected 3 monitors simultaneously with the setup mentioned above - however, I can confirm - this DOES work if you install the driver listed in the link below:

You will need to download the .zip file from the link provided above this text for your operating system - MAKE SURE YOU CH... Read more

Yes and no.  The black PCIe according to the manual is 'wired' as a 4x and not a 16x so if the machine will allow you to put in a graphics card and run it, it will only be about 25 percent useful.

I purchased a used Optiplex 7010 MT from ebay, but I am starting to wonder if there is a problem with the motherboard, specifically with one of the system memory channels.
The PC came with a single Nanya brand RAM Module 4GB (DDR3-1600) DIMM located in the slot #2 position.
I tried to upgrade the RAM using some G.Skill Ripjaws X RAM (DDR3-1600), 4GB x 4, with all slots filled.
The PC will not post or even get to the PSA Diagnostics. Instead the Power button flashes 2,3 which indicates "system board, memory or CPU failure"
So I played around a bit, and I discovered that I can put ANY of the RAM in slots 2 or 4, and the Computer will post and runs fine, but if I put any RAM in slots 1 or 3, (with or without any RAM installed in slots 2 or 4) then I get the same error code, "system board, memory or CPU failure".
This tells me that my RAM is fine, since the system WILL recognize it in slots 2 & 4.
I even tried installing the Nanya RAM module in Slot 1 and in slot 3, by itself, and the error persists.
I have even tried upgrading the BIOS Firmware. It's currently running BIOS version A20, with no solution to the problem.
The system is currently function fine with 4GB RAM sticks in slots 2 & 4, for a total of 8GB, although when I check the BIOS status, it shows that the 8GB of RAM is in "Single Channel mode"
My question is:
Is my motherboard faulty, or is there some setting I need to select before my system will recognize the RAM in Sl... Read more

Hello all,
We just received a shipment of Dell Optiplex 7010s with Core i7 3770s @ 3.10 GHz with 16 gigs of RAM and the Intel HD Graphics 4000 chipset.
I am trying to setup 3 monitors, as I had with the old Optiplex 755s and I am having an issue.  All three monitors are detected in Windows and by the Intel configuration utility.  However, when I enable the 3rd display, one of the 3 displays randomly turns off.  As such, I cannot use the 3rd display.
I have 1 Dell E228WFP hooked up via Display Port to DVI, 1 Dell P170S hooked up via Display Port to DVI, and 1 Dell P170S hooked up via VGA.
Has anyone had any luck getting this working?  I have updated to the latest Intel Graphics driver to no luck.
Appreciate any advice you all could give me.

We currently have Dell Optiplex 7010 tower in our office. It's using a single Acer G6 G276HL monitor via DVI-I port on the video card. We were thinking to buy a second monitor and I want to know if it's going to work?
The video card inside this Dell is AMD Radeon HD 7470:https://www.amazon.com/radeon-profile-display-desktop-computer/dp/B00CR230G0
I was thinking to get the same screen:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G5AEZOQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1The issue is connecting it to the display port on the Radeon card. So I was thinking to get this adapter:https://www.amazon.com/HP-DisplayPort-DVI-D-Adapter-481409-002/dp/B00PHINWX2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1470159981&sr=8-2&keywords=display+port+to+dvi-d

A:Trying to set up second screen for Dell Optiplex 7010 tower

I presume you're using a DVI-D cable since the current monitor doesn't support DVI-I which the video card supports.
Why not get a second monitor that supports DisplayPort and go directly from DP on the video card to DP on the second monitor without complicating things with that DP>DVI-D adapter?

Hi everyone:

I was curious if anyone else experienced this issue? I have a Dell OptiPlex 7010 desktop/mini tower that I bought off the official Dell site. I configured that mini tower to have an SSD drive as the main drive, which I like very much, except one very annoying issue. Sometimes out of the blue Windows 7 will hang up, I can't click anything and the mouse starts spinning in a circle. This continues on for about half a minute and then it always comes back to life. Suddenly I start getting all my previous clicks moving windows, opening things, etc, all at once. This happened at least a dozen of times by now and I started to notice that when this happens the HDD/SSD LED on the case glows solid, which made me suspect that there's something going on with the drive itself.

Does anyone know what's going on and how to fix this?

PS. I tried contacting Dell support about this issue but they are pretty useless. I spent several hours in a chat with a guy once that eventually simply hung up on me. Then I emailed someone at Dell, for which the guy replied with instructions to run their hard drive diagnostic tool, which I did, that did not show any errors. (Note that I don't have a hard drive, it's a solid state drive.) I replied to the guy only to never hear from him again.... So I think I'm pretty much done with the Dell support

I posted this earlier, but I didn't see it listed... Here it is again.
I have a syspreped Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit image that will successfully install on any make / model of Dell or Lenovo computer that our agency uses, but not on a Dell OptiPlex 7010 workstation.
The syspreped Windows 7 image is a clean install with just the OS with updates. No other applications are installed.
After the image is installed on a Dell 7010 and reboots, OOBE setup starts and get a blue screen error when installing devices. It makes to about 70% before getting the blue screen error.
On reboot after the bluescreen, OOBE setup will continue briefly then displays the following error: "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click “OK” to restart the computer, and then restart the installation."
I think the USB 3.0 drivers are causing the problems. I know the Regedit fix to get past this to finish OOBE setup, but it is a manual process.
Our agency uses LANDesk to image computers. The whole process is automated start to finish.
We mainly use Dell desktops and Lenovo laptop in our agency. The same image installs flawlessly on all of them except for the Dell OptiPlex 7010 desktop. What is different about the Dell 7010?

Hello all!
I am attempting to get an EVGA GeForce GTX 650ti (1GB) video card working in my Dell Optiplex 7010 Tower.  The card fits quite nicely inside the computer, however when I attempt to install drivers from NVIDIA and EVGA (which I'm pretty sure are the same), my system crashes upon rebooting.  It tries to load the login screen, but the screen keeps going black.
I assume it's a problem with the drivers because the card works just fine without them installed (I just can't play any of the graphic-intensive games I want to play).  I have been emailing NVIDIA support back and forth this week, but everything they have suggested thus far hasn't helped.  One thing they recently suggested was to disable the on-board graphics, but I'm not entirely sure how to do that.
If someone could help me disable the on-board graphics/help me properly install the drivers, that would be great!  My computer is currently running Windows 10 Professional.

The Dell Optiplex SFF has an 240 W power supply. The PCIex16 Slot (BLUE) (Voltage supported 3.3V/12V) has the maximum wattage = 50 W, and the Nvidia Quatro 600 (low profile) has the maximum power consumption = 40 W.
And, if I want to upgrade my CPU to i7 3770 in the future, will the power be enough?

I own many Optiplex DT 7010's, purchased with 4GB of ram.  The Dell technical manual suggests (4) 4x4gb DDR3 PC3 12800R maximum.  I purchased (4) pcs, as specified, but they did not work.  Looking at the existing 4mb ram it states 2rx8 on it, but the 4 purchased parts state 2Rx4.  Is this the reason these will not work, and do I need to purchase (4) x 2Rx8's?

There are four different versions of the Optiplex 7010, Mini Tower, Desktop, Small Form Factor and the Ultra Small Form Factor.
Assuming that you have the Desktop version and not the Mini Tower.
The desktop version, can support either one 3.5", or 2 x 2.5" SATA hard drives.
You will need a 3.5" x 2x 2.5" hard drive caddy, plus a SATA data cable and possible a SATA Y power splitter.

I am trying to setup three monitors on my Dell Optiplex 7010. I have the integrated graphics with thee ports (2xDisplayPort, 1xVGA) and a PCI graphics card with two ports (1xDVI, 1xDisplayPort).

I have been using some converters to get my monitors cables to converto to DisplayPort to connect them to the display Ports on the PC.
The two DisplayPort monitors are working fine using the integrated graphics but the VGA is not. I have been told that this is because of the converters I am using.

We finally found a solution. Because I am using Windows 8.1 I needed to update my BIOS using this link. Once I updated my BIOS I went into the BIOS and checked the multi-display checkbox. Once this had been done and I restarted my PC I was able to connect monitors to both the internal and dedicated graphics cards and they are all working.

Hope this helps someone out.

Hi all.
I'm currently looking to upgrade my memory from 4gb to 16gb. Is there a list of compatible memory available to view and would the following memory be ok for this machine ... The website states that it is compatible with the Optiplex 7010 but my guess is that they will tell you want to hear.
Kingston KCP316ND8/8 DDR3 SDRAM - DIMM 240-pin

Any help on thie matter would be muchly appriciated

A:Optiplex 7010 SFF compatible memory

You can always check out Crucial's UK site (http://uk.crucial.com/gbr/en/ for compatible RAM for your system.
And if Crucial recommends it for a specific PC model, they guarantee it works in that system or they take it back...

I just bought an Optiplex 7010 from Dell Outlet, and have a question.  The technical guidebook to the 7010 says that each of the four DIMM slots can handle up to 8GB memory modules, but then says the system maximum is only 16GB.  I know you must have Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate to access more than 16GB. Provided you have that, can this motherboard handle over 16GB?  If I added two 8GB sticks to the 2X4GB already installed, would it work, or would the machine not function or only recognize 16GB of it?

A:Optiplex 7010 memory question

Well, I just answered my own question.  I bought 2 8GB sticks of the Kingston RAM meant for the 7010, sold by a number of places, including Dell, and added them to my system.  It works fine, and both BIOS and Windows shows 24GB installed.  I have no doubt 32GB should be fine, too.
One critical caveat, though.  You must be using Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate to do this.  If your OS is Windows 7 Premium, only 16GB of RAM will be recognized.
Dell needs to correct its erroneous documentation.
