When charger plugged in pc, the light on the charger box blinks

Q: When charger plugged in pc, the light on the charger box blinks

I don't use my computer for maybe a whole year.
Now, I wanted to use it but it's not working. My battery is addicted, basically, if I don't have a charger I won't be able to turn on the computer.
So when I plugged the charger on the wall, the light on the box charger was solid (it didn't blink); However when I plugged it in the computer the light blinked.
I don't know what's the problem and I would like to fix it, if possible.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi! I have 4 years old Lenovo Yoga Ideapad 13.  The problems started couple weeks ago, when the computer wouldn't run or start up without being plugged in. I followed some other people's advice and got a new battery. It seemed to fix to problem for while. Now few weeks after the same problem stands with the new battery. It won't start or run, but when plugged in it says the battery is 100% and charging.   I tried checking if the charger isn't working, but it charges all fine on my other Yoga, which has the same charger model. So please note that this isn't the common problem that is seen here on the forums, that the battery doesnt charge. I'm pretty frustrated, as this problem persists even though I changed the battery. Anyone have ideas? I figured it could have something to do with the battery wire connecting battery to the motherboard, but there doesn't seem to be any defects or loose wires.  However, I tried taking off the battery connection wire when plugged in, and then I get the message "No battery detected" instead of the regular "100% Fully charged". Any help is appreciated.

My Dell Inspiron 17R 5720 doesn't recognize charger any more. And unfortunately my warranty expired 2 month ago.It was plugged in and working in the morning, but then in the afternoon I noticed that it was running on the battery only. It wont start without battery (just charger plugged in).
1. So here what I have done to debug. Me and my brother, we have purchased the same Dell laptops at the same time a year and a bit ago. This is why for a debugging purposes it was good.I took my charger and plugged in to his computer. And it works. Definitely not the charger issue I guess. And when I plug charger in to my computer, green light is still on the charger. And I have the original charger that came with the laptop.
2. Now, laptop works on the battery only, so this means that motherboard is working. I guess.
3. Next thing I did was unplugged charger and removed the battery from the laptop. Then I pushed and hold "Power" button for 45 seconds to discharge a flea charge. Plugged charger back in but laptop wont start.
4. Next I started laptop on the battery, went to BIOS and checked if the charger is recognized in the BIOS. No, it doesn't recognize charger. So, if it is not a charger then what else can it be?
5. Laptop doesn't have any strange smells so I'm not sure if anything happened with the motherboard, but I would assume mother board is ok because it works of the battery.
6. I was thinking updating the BIOS, but I can't, because it wont update whi... Read more

A:Dell Inspiron 17R 5720 doesn't work with charger. Charger is not recognized. Not charger problem.

Hi CJ777,
Thanks for reaching out with your query. You pretty much figured out all points of failure. Good job.
If the adapter is not detected in BIOS, it most likely is an issue with the mother board. In the BIOS set up, AC adapter should show up as 65w or 90w. If the adapter status is 'None' or 'Unknown Device Installed', it indicates that the mother board is not detecting the adapter for which the battery is not getting charged. Once the battery charge drains, I'm sure the adapter will not charge it again. Replacing the system board should resolve this issue.

When I plug the charger in the message on the battery icon on the bottom toolbar reads as "73%, plugged in, not charging". Obviously the laptop is recognising the charger (i.e "plugged in") but it is not allowing the battery to charge.
I have installed every update on the computer and I have recently searched for any outstanding BIOS updates. The system seems to suggest there is a BIOS update to be installed yet when I try to install it the system says that it cannot detect a charger, and won't complete the update, or it won't complete the update without a charger plugged in in the first place. It's a no-win situation. The computer and charger are only 14 months old so this is very unsatisfactory. When I remove the battery the computer operates on AC power only, so again the charger is working, it simply won't charge the battery and therefore once the battery runs down to 0, which it will eventually, I will be limited to using AC power only.
If I restart the laptop with the charger plugged in it diverts me to a warning page saying that the charger is not recognised and I am given the option to go to the BIOS setup, go to diagnostics or to continue. If I choose "continue" it simply returns me to this warning page every time so the only way to power up the laptop is to do so with the AC charger out, and to then plug it in once the system has started so that the battery doesn't drain completely.
Please help.

A:Inspiron 15 5559 charger not charging battery (manufacturers charger being used)

An unrecognized AC adapter will not charge the battery.
First try a new OEM Dell adapter.  If that's also not recognized, replace the DC power jack:
www.parts-people.com/index.php
If neither the new adapter nor the DC jack solves the problem, you've got a bad charge circuit - replace the mainboard.

Hi to all seven forum,
I came here for a simple question today, the question is, is it better for laptop battery that when I using laptop it is plugged in all time to ac adopter although it is fully charged.
one thing I know that when plugged in charger, the battery not in use, I test that remove battery when laptop in ON condition and AC charger is plugged, the laptop remain ON, so I mad a personal experience that using laptop with plugged in charger, it could save the battery. is it rite.?
Note: that I m not plugged in charger all the time, I only plugged in it when I turn ON laptop. when laptop is not in use and the battery is fully charged (infect it is always charged) I plugged out the AC adopter.
I read many article where many peoples asked the same thing that "should they plugged in charger all the time, (include when laptop not in using)".
but my question is simple which is "should I plugged in charger all time only when I use laptop? is it better for battery.? or it must necessary that we should drain all battery then plugged in charger and remove it when fully charged.?
(sorry for my bad English)
laptop model is Dell Inspiron N4050. 6 cell Li on batter I think. (or lithium)

A:Should I plugged in charger to laptop when I using it.

I'm amazed that this gets asked so often, and I haven't been able to figure out why. There's no reason and no harm in leaving the battery connected all the time. There's no reason to unplug the AC power once it is full charged. In fact, doing so could potentially shorten the life of your battery if it's recharging from a small usage up to 100% often.

I still don't know why people insist on making this a difficult process, to be honest. If you use the laptop on AC power, great. If you use your battery often, or even occasionally, it's a good idea to drain it down completely every so often, and then recharge it back to 100%. There's no harm in using the laptop on AC power with the battery in the laptop.

If the jack on the computer where the charger plugs into is loose, then you need to have the jack soldered back onto the motherboard by a local computer repair shop.

Hi Lenovo community, I have lenovo Y50-70 gaming laptop, used to heat up a lot while charging near the W S A D keys and the left palm rest. One evening while the laptop was turned on doing nothing intensive like gaming. It starts smoking up from one of the vents and shuts itself down, shocked by the situation I immediately unplugged the laptop.  Long story short, gave it a rest of 1 day, it turned ON on battery just fine, feels like nothing has heppened but no more charging! if I try to plug charger in laptop again, it start to smell. Upon closer inspection: ?? It has burnt 2 mosfets, a fused and some other things. Never in my past 15+ years using a computer I ever encountered a burning laptop motherboard.  Did anyone else face the similar situation? I guess I'd try with warranty since its been only 4-5 months (if lenovo won't sees opening the back case as violation of some sort).

A:Charger Light On, Not Charging?

Hi

first off dont use anything but an official charger, the cheap ones can and will damage your motherboard due to them being unregulated and supplying to much current.

If the charger has the light on but wont charge then the internal cable is broken and may be shorting out inside the sleeving.

check the cable by eye for severe kinks or bends in the cable.

Should you find one, cut the section just before and after the kink and then strip the cable back and join the wires and test it, if it works then you can either solder the wires and use heat shrink plastic to join them or buy a new one.

A:Laptop charger plugged in but not charging

Esmmy, look in the hole on your laptop where the power adapter would plug in and you'll see the silver power pin. Using a push button pen, put it on the end of the power pin and see if you can move the pin at all. Any movement on that pin means it's broken and the DC Jack needs to be replaced. Most DC Jacks are soldered to the motherboard and need to be repaired by someone experienced in desoldering and soldering.

If the DC Jack is broken, the power adapter won't charge your battery since it's not making a solid connection inside. Moving it around too much while plugged in could short something, cause further damage or even a fire.. Best to have it repaired by an experienced technician.

If you take out the battery when the computer is totally shut down, and plug in the AC adapter and start the computer, does the light on the charger come on, some are green, some not....

And, does the computer work normally if you are using just the AC adapter?

I would not use a battery that charged only to anything but 100% and here is why> overheating can result and cause a fire, I have had one laptop battery explode and it is not a pretty scene.

The AC adapter might also be damaged, but just answer the questions and will try to help further. I buy this type of Toshiba adapter all the time, and can point you to some reliable but not over expensive ones.

Recently I bought a charger for my HP G61-110SA which was just a replacement adapter. Now yesterday it did something weird. Basically, there are two pictures of the two indicators there are to show whether it is charging, one is on the front and one is next to the port on the side. Basicaally the charger wasnt changing the indicator on the side or the one on screen but the one on the front was working when I turned it on. By default the laptop chages brightness when plgged in but now it sort of brightens a bit (not to the full level as should do) and then goes back to normal. Today the laptop is still doing the same but the front light now only turns on for a few seconds before turning off! I dont know whether it is charging. Is this the laptop or the charger. Any help would be useful, I have attatached the side indicator and the front one

UPDATE: I found a website which said you could turn it off and start without battery but with charger and then turn off and use both. However, I turned it off and removed the battery and it wouldnt charge. Then I put the battery in and it started charging-weird. Also the light on the front doesnt last very long so I am stuck. Hello,I have had my HP dv2145 for years without using it. The screen is just black when I power it on, but the Caps Lock and Scroll lights blink continuously... Anyways, I just bought a universal adapter for it, it is 90W. From reading past forums about the adapters, this should be fine. However, I just want to know one or two hopefully simple things. When the laptop is NOT powered on, but has the adapter plugged in- is it charging if the light underneath the lightning bolt sign is NOT blinking?I am just asking because when I have it plugged in while powered ON, the lightning bolt light blinks continuously. I would just like a glimmer of hope with this. If this is a bad sign, I would like to know what I should do to get my screen to turn back on. Please and thank you for any information you can offer me.

When I have the charger plugged in, my laptop monitor gets glitchy and starts jumping around rapidly - especially if playing a video or running anything with a lot of movement.  I have plugged in an external monitor and it is effected as well.  When I unlug the charger, everything is normal. I have ruled out the charger being bad, and ground-looping is not an issue.  The Envy is notorious for overheating, and I have lost a harddrive that way. Is this a total-loss, or is there a chance it can be resurrected?

Hi @annihilator, Welcome to the HP Forums! You have come to the right place to ask questions, find solutions and get help from others in the community! I am seeing that if you change the power plan options to balanced option in the Notebook will help. Here is a link that will help. Go into your power options. Select Balanced and click Change plan settings. Click Change advanced power settings. Then save setting changes. You could  try using the Windows Update Troubleshooting tool to fix any updates that have not come through for Windows.  Please restart the Notebook twice to make sure all update have been completed! Please let me know how this goes. To simply say thanks, click the Thumbs up below!    If you require further assistance let me know and I will gladly do all I can to help. Thanks.

Hi I have HP Elitebook 8470p which was running very good but when I plugged the charger, its colors turned very low and vibrating pixles. Now whenever I power on laptop, its color are not normal from BIOS to Windows. How to correct it? * I checked the drivers and software settings but all are OK. So I think there is no software or OS problem, this issue seems to hardware related.

I've had my laptop for two years, it's been fine until around 3 months ago. Now if it isn't plugged in, it doesn't turn on or work. If I turn it on then unplug it, it shuts down. What do I do?
