ProBook 4540s not charging. Charging led blinks 9 times

Q: ProBook 4540s not charging. Charging led blinks 9 times

Hello! My ProBook 4540s was working fine until few half hour ago, when I unplugged it to move it and then attempted to plug it back in, and it stopped charging. When plugging in the power cord the light above the power jack (and no other lights) flashes white 9 times. This is the exact same problem as posted here http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/ProBook-4540s-not-charging/m-p/4...but there is no solution. Please help

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello! My ProBook 4540s was working fine until a half hour ago, when I unplugged it to move it and then attempted to plug it back in, and it stopped charging.  When plugging in the power cord (that came with the ProBook when I bought it around 18 months ago), the light above the power jack (and no other lights) flashes white 9 times. I've tried following this fix I found on Google: 1. Turn off the notebook2. remove the battery3. remove the charging adapter4. press + hold the power button for 40 seconds5. insert the charging adaptor only6. press the power button and it supposedly continues but I get stuck at this point, because even plugged in, my ProBook won't start up without the battery in also. Is this a know problem/is there a fix for this?

For some reason my laptop once stopped charging, I tried a few different outlets at a library and non of them made the laptop start charging again (charging = organge light glowing). I got home, and my outlets there didn't work either. THen after a while I tried an outlet again, and it worked. Then this problem occured one more time (then I fixed it somehow). And the last time it occured  I haven't been able to fix it. Trust me I've tried almost everything, I tried turnign it off taking the battery out and holding the powere button then trying to charge it, I tried waiting for hours, but  have not tried a new charger.  So here is the problem I see: I plug in the charger, and the charging LED does not glow, instead it randomly (it seems random) blinks.  I once left my laptop to do that for hours, and it still didn't even charge. Also I can't turn on my laptop without the battery (not sure if thats even possible, as I have not heard it is possible).  I'm going to send it back to Costco soon, but before I do, please help me figure out how to fix it, thanks

Hello, I have a ProBook 640 G1 that will not power on. After pressing the power button, with a battery installed and the AC adapter attached, the Charging LED blinks white 9 times . Unplugging the AC adapter results in 9 amber blinks. The light on the AC Adapter itself remains solid green. With the battery removed, and attached to the AC Adapter, three lights blink continously : The light on the power button (white), the Charging LED (AMBER), and the Power LED (White). The light on the AC Adapter itself remain solid green. In both cases pressing or pressing and holding the power button has no effect. There is no indication that power is actually making in to the MB; no BIOS , nothing at all. I do not have access to another unit with the same battery or AC adapter in order to try swapping those out. Thanks,Shane

I replaced the battery with a new Duracell battery yesterday.  I need to charge at least 4 hours first then discharge it.  When charging the light is usually amber, but after about 1 hour into the charge it begins blinking and the color changes to white.  This is the second battery.  It did almost the same thing with the other one, but the charging indicator also read incorrectly.  What can I do to correct this? Thanks

I was recently given a Probook 4310S, it was working fine but it was running Windows XP.So yestaday I installed windows 10.During the Installation Proccess the Laptop  was working fine, it was charging and the battery was holding charge. After I finished installing drivers and everything, I plugged it in because it had low battery, 1 hour later I came back to the laptop and the computer hadn't charged and is saying "13%, Plugged in Not Charging". I have tried other chargers and it is still not charging or charging above 13%. When I plug it in, sometimes the charging LED will come on for a couple of minutes, then it will eventually turn off, another time when I unplugged it, it starts flashing.  Now it thinks it is happy and is charging again, but it has also done this when i was trouble shooting, it will probably stop charging again at 13% Does anyone have any ideas?

I have a customer that ive done a fresh install of windows 10 on a new hard drive for.  On windows 7, there is no issue with battery charging (new battery, new charger)  but when I swap the drive and boot windows 10, the battery reports as plugged in not charging.  Usually around 96%.   If the charger is unplugged, let the battery die down to 5% or so, then plug charger back in, it charges fine, goes to 100%, then after awhile it says the same thing, plugged in not charging.  (which i see as normal, but pretty sure the hp power mgmt software would report it as still plugged in and charging, try explaining to a customer when they see something as what they think is a problem..)There is no hp peak power manager for windows 10, only windows 7 and 8.1.  The windows 7 or 8.1 version will not install on windows 10.  Tried in compatibility mode for every version of windows known to man.  Anyone know if there is an HP version of power management software tuned for windows 10 floating around somewhere, maybe for a different laptop?  Thank you.

My laptop (purchased new July 2015, battery manufacture date May 2015) was working fine and the battery was being charged properly.  Then a couple of months ago my son upgraded to Windows 10.  He had some problems with drivers and not being able to run his programs so he downgraded back to Windows 7.  After that the battery doesn't charge anymore.  The charger is recognized and the laptop runs, but it is not charging the battery.  I suspect it's an internal laptop problem and buying a new battery won't help.  Any thoughts or suggestions to fix this problem?

Hello, I have a HP 4530s with this problem: If I remove and insert the battery while Windows is running, the battery charges for a little while and then stops charging ("Plugged in, not charging). An orange light is blinking near the power connector. If I remove and insert the battery again, it charges for a while and then stops again. If I turn off Windows and disconnect AC power, if the orange light was blonking, it continues blonking (didn't wait to see how long). If I do this enough times, the battery charges to full. When I disconnect the AC power the laptop works normally on the battery (battery capacity is OK). What I have tried:1. removing the battery, disconnecting AC, holding power button for 40s, reconnecting AC, starting Windows, shutting down Windows, inserting the battery.2. Updating the BIOS to the latest version (F60) - this actually helped because previously the battery was not detected at all if removed and inserted until I did #1.

Are you using the origial power adapter that arrived with your notebook? Follow the instructions in this HP document to troubleshoot the power adapter. Have you performed the battery test diagnostic to see if the battery is still good? Are you able to remove the battery, plug in the power adapter and boot into your Windows operating system? Is your notebook still within its standard warranty? I have an HP ProBook 455 G1 that won't start / boot. All of a sudden, the light next to the power cable was blinking white.  The laptop wouldn't turn on - no lights, no display, no fan activity.   I have tried the recommended hard reset solution already where everything is disconnected, including the battery, and the power button is held for 40 seconds.  This solution does not solve the problem I'm experiencing with this laptop. I've been troubleshooting it for a few days have had no luck. Through reading fourms, some people had similar issue and solved it by disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard. I have tried this and still no luck. I have changed out the following; Memory, Harddrive, Charger, Battery.  Still no luck. If you know anything that I could try or anything that would help, please let me know. Many thanks

Hi, Im having the problem of "battery not charging" though it is plugged in. I do see this has been addressed, but I am noticing that this problem is intermittent. I'm using a HP Compaq 69-10 with Windows 7 I noticed this a few weeks ago. The laptop would be plugged in but not charging. At it seemed to lose a little power slowly. It would drop to 99 percent charged or even a little lower despite being plugger in. I tried shutting down, rebooting, different sockets,  booting up with battery uninstalled, and booting up on battery without being plugged in. It went away once but I dont recall exactly what I did. Then it came back. Today it was down to 95 percent, then suddenly fully charged without me noticing. I often put my computer in sleep mode by closing cover without shutting down. Could this be related? Also what about plugging in headphones? That's the only thing I did different today and then I noticed it fully charged. Any ideas on what I can do?

Hi All.--- A great friend of mine left me his digital camera which I can now use reasonably well. My problem is that the batteries are now flat and although I have two battery charges, I haven't a clue as to how long to charge them for.
The charger that came with the camera is a Panosonic with an input of 50-60hz 0.07A
The other one is a digitor that takes various sizes of batteries. It's input is 30hz 30ma

Could anyone give me some idea how long (for each charger) to charge these AA 1.2v 2500mAH batteries for without cooking them please.
The batteries that came with the camera are the same but 1300mAH. Do these take the same time as the others?
Many thanks, Ralph

Hi...

I am having a problem with my laptop computer. At first I thought I had tons of spyware or even a virus, and even posted a Hijackthis file here. Nothing was found.
I figured out that my cpu runs at 100% when using the power outlet, or when my computer is chargnig. When I unplug the powercord and use the battery life, everything runs GREAT!!!!! my cpu drops to a normal 4-8% usage with multiple applications running. WEIRD huh? Can anyone relate to this ?? Is this and indication that my battery is going bad???? Can someone help me with this or suggest what is going on? I am running windows XP home edition, and have a compac presario 1500 series. Hi ! Over the past two weeks I've spent my time troubleshooting why my recently (used) bought X240 is not charging the internal battery. Short timeline: 1. Bought used X240 in good condition but with dead internal and external battery - working well when using power supply.2. Came home and tested that thing -> both batteries show "0% - not charging" (with Win10Pro installed) *suprise, surprise*3. Ordered both new internal and external battery.4. External battery came 1.5 weeks ago. Installed it and worked like a charm (Battery 2 (external): X%, charging).5. Internal battery came the day before yesterday. Installed it and did not work -> "Battery 1: 53% - plugged in, charging - Battery 2: 6% - plugged in, not charging)6. Waited the recommended 6-12 hours like it was written in the "manual" to get it fully charged.7. Next morning -> Batterystatus unchanged (see point 5) ... It's stuck at 53%. Though the status says it's charging, it doesn't.8. Simply tried out what's going to happen when I pull the cable of the power supply -> Notebook instant off *hmmm*9. As the external battery was obviously blocked from charging by the internal (as it was not charged), I've taken out the internal battery again and et voila, external battery is charging again.I've tried to remove both batteries and perform the "Magic Trick" (press the main power switch for 30 secs) and I've also pushed the "reset" switch on the backside near the battery. Sadly without any result ;-(... Read more

Hello and peace on you..
I have a DELL Inspiron N5110 from early 2011
I was using the laptop correctly..The laptop was plugged in and the battery was charging..Then i removed the charger let the laptop on battery until suddenly the laptop shuts down without even telling me that the battery is low or even leaving some "emergency" charge on it (usually 7% or 5% i don't know)..I plugged it in to charge it again and open my leptop and i found out that the battery is not taking charge anymore!
I tried to see if the propblem is with the connector and tried to remove and put in again the charger and it ddid not work
i tried also to remove the battery and put it in again, it did not help
Now it is stuck on 2% of charge from 5 days and it's plugged in!
The laptop says that the battery is charging, but actually it is not charging and the charge level is the same from days
I looked up some solutions online like uninstalling ACPI microsof from Device manager and reboot the laptop..It did not work
"Jauge de batterie" which is an integrated software related to DELL, says that the battery health is good and that my battery is working properly
The laptop works fine with only the charger plugged in and battery out
PS: the laptop heats usually but i think it did not affect the battery at all since it was working fine and the charge took me about at minimum 30 min on high performance to be emptyed before this happens.
Please, i'm seeking for help

A:Battery says: Charging, but it is not actually charging while plugged in and is stuck in 2% for 5 days !

First thing to check is wherther the sysetm recognizes the AC adapter - F2 at powerup to check that.
If it doesn't, try a new Dell OEM AC adapter - if that doesn't fix the issue, replace the DC jack board, and if that doesn't solve it, the mainboard.  Note:  you MUST use a Dell adapter - NOT a third party unit.
If the system DOES recognize the AC adapter, but won't charge the battery, chances are the battery is bad and will need to be replaced.
You cannot solve the issue without checking and, if necessary, replacing these parts.

i have been using this laptop for 2 years i get it from my friend .

from start it always charges battery upto 56 percent.

and i thought that there is problem in the battery cell and in few months battery backup becomes very short.

Yesterday i bought a new battery for my laptop but it is giving me the same problem which i had with my previous battery.

So this is not battery problem.

Things i have tried

1)Removing battery and uninstalling windows ac adaptor from Device manager.

2)Removing both battery and power Adaptor and pushing the power button for 20 sec if there is any residuel current.

Nothing has worked for me so far.

I would be thankful for your guidance.

A:XPS 12 9Q23 Power Charging Disabled / Plugged in, NOT CHARGING

Hi DAEMONROD.
Where have you purchased the battery from? Does the old battery charge fine when plugged in?
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
Test another power adapter and check. If the adapter fits in loose, then the dc port needs to be replaced. You would need this part.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hi supporter,
I buy a laptop DELL XPS 13 9350 from Microsoft store (NY) last week. But it stop charging at 80%. I have read all related topics on this forum, but my issue isn't solve. I did: - Update Window- update BIOS ver 1.4.4- BIOS > setting > general Battery Information: health excellent, 80% (Idle), AC Adapter = 45W-Power Management > Primary Battery Charge Configuration: Standard- all step here (www.dell.com/.../SLN296542), except (step 5 & 6).- I ran diognasis test in BIOS: everything passed. What could I do next? Thanks

A:XPS 13 9350, stop charging at 80% (plugged in, not charging)

Today, battery not charging at 70% but if I unplug power cord, it turns off immediately and can not power it on until I plug in. So I must charge battery continually during using. My laptop now becomes desktop!
Check battery heath (F2): "battery must replace". My laptop is OK except battery.
What happened with my new laptop for using 3 weeks?
Thank for your support.

Hi Support,
I have issue about battery with my laptop (Dell Precision M5510). Windows 10.
It stop charging at 45%. Show mess plugged in, not charging.
I try fix with tutorial on youtube
In Bios, I try change to option Standard. Battery infomation Excellent
But cannot fix. Please help.

A:Battery stop charging at 45%, plugged in, not charging

Does the system correctly identify the AC adapter, or does it show "unknown"?  F2 at powerup to check.
Is the battery the original one that arrived with the system?
