So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.
So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.
Anybody have any suggestions on what the problem might be? I prefer to fix the problem from home if possible.
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Are you able to get into the advanced boot menu by tapping F8? It might not be listed on the startup screen but it should still be there.
If not you can burn a repair disc from any PC with Windows 7. Theres steps from Microsoft Here.
Laptop is running on Windows 10. Yesterday I updated my AMD graphics driver using the update tool from AMD. After all the necessary files were downloaded and installed, I was prompted to restart and I did. Upon restart, the laptop would not boot past the Lenovo screen. The white circles that rotate always freeze and it just stays on the Lenovo screen upon every attempt to boot. I can't enter safe mode or the bios options, what can I do to fix this? P.S. A few months ago I began having an issue with the sleep mode. When trying to enter sleep mode, the laptop would just shut down unexpectedly and almost instantly. I'm not sure what caused this issue, but I've just been avoiding it by shutting down instead of sleeping. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, or if the restart was interrupted by an unexpected shutdown.Read other answers
Dear Members,I am in trouble with my Idea Pad Z570: I bought it couple of years ago running Windows 7. During the years of usage I had no trouble at all. With Windows 10 beeing released, I upgraded and it starts to make a lot of troubles: Bluescreen directly after boot or sign in, no WiFi, ... all the known stuff. So I decided last week to downgrade to Windows 7. But now, I am even in a bigger trouble:I tried to boot the Windows 7 from DVD and it crashed into Bluescreen saying: Windows Error 0xc0000225Restarting is not helping. So, i tried to go into BIOS to boot from another device, but I do not even get to BIOS or UEFI. So, thats a kind of Deadlock: I cannot boot from Harddisk because Windows Error 0xc0000225 appears and I cannot get into BIOS & UEFI because the Windows error 0xc0000225 comes before getting to BIOS. Hope this description of my current situation is understandable and you guys have a lot of ideas how to fix it. Thanks!TheGoonerRead other answers
If you have a z570 you'll know that they have a switchable graphic system controlled by a switch at the front of the laptop. However, after a repair by KNOWHOW, this switch is gone - they replaced the base plate obviously with the wrong model parts. Is there any way I can bypass this switch and enable my Nvidia card manually? At the moment it's greyed out in the control panel and I can't use it to play any games. This laptop used to have the switch. The Nvidia card in question is GT520MRead other answers
Hi, My ~3 year old ideapad purchased from Newegg seems to have gone south. I have Windows 8.1 installed. Last night I shut it off to bring it to class and when I got to class and tried to boot up, it wouldn't finish starting up, would sit at the logo screen for about 30 seconds before shutting down and starting over. The fans power up like it is going to start. It repeats this loop indefinitely. I tried holding the reset button next to the charger port and still nothing. Suggestions? ThanksRead other answers
My Windows 7 basically blew up and is no longer working. I tried a one-key recovery as well which utterly failed. As a last resort I tried using Windows 7 recovery disks sent by Lenovo. There are 4 disks 1,2,3, and an additional disk. Everything seemed to be going somewhat smoothly, although slow up until disk 3. The screen shows
"Current Item: ApplyOs" "Recover process is running please don't remove your power adapter."
It's been like this for days. The blue bar load bar under it seems to still be running. Tried again, this time with 4 different disks sent by Lenovo. The first 3 disks went a bit faster, but the end result was still the same, getting stuck on "ApplyOs". Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
I would Check the hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic tools.

Hi guys, I'm dealing with a problem which is currently (but I sincerely hope, not permanently) rendering my G700 useless. When I attempt to boot my PC it freezes at the Lenovo splash screen. I've waited ample amount of time but nothing appears to happen. One time I waited and managed to get into a Windows troubleshooting menu where I attempted to wipe the PC and start fresh, but this also froze at the lenovo screen soon after. Pressing the Novo button gives me 4 options but it appears to freeze, not allowing me to scroll through the options, or press enter. If I remove the harddrive it tells me to insert media and press OK, but once again, it appears to freeze as pressing enter doesn't do anything. I've tried booting from a USB stick but can't seem to get into any setting which would allow me to do this.I Removed DVD drive as I read on this forum that it was an issue with different Lenovo laptops, and since I don't use it anyway, decided to give it a go, but unfortunately nothing changed :-( If any kind soul could advise me with what I could possibly do, it be would be greatly appreciated as I'm dreading the thought of having to purchase a new laptop. Thanks :-)Read other answers
Hello everyone. I've been given a Lenovo Z570 laptop with little background information other than the fact that it refuses to boot. A clean install is not an option at this point due to the personal information on the laptop. When I turn on the laptop, it displays the Lenovo sign, then boots into a screen that says Windows Error Recovery. I've been working through the troubleshooting guide here with little to no luck. Here is what I encountered on each step:
1. Using "Last Known Good Configuration" results in a black screen that does not go away or change.
2. Using "Repair your computer" under Advanced Boot Options leads to a black screen. If I try using a Windows installation disk, the screen hangs on the initial "Setup is starting" screen indefinitely. Using a repair disk gets farther- it lets me choose some settings, but then hangs on a screen that says "Searching for Windows Installations". I'm not sure what a UEFI install is but I assume my hard disk is not UEFI because I did not see any options in the BIOS
Edit: I'm sure that the installation disk is not corrupted: tried running it in another Windows 7 laptop and it loaded without problems.
3. The hard drive is still detected in BIOS set up
4. Trying the System Restore leads to a black screen
5. As mentioned above, the repair disk hangs on "Searching for Windows Installations"
7. Booting into Safe Mode with Networking leads to a black screen
8. Not available,... Read more
Im sure this is a common issue but my programs in Windows 7 will not open after initial start up. The computer boots up into Windows 7 just fine and everything appears in order. However, if I open any program such as Google chrome or a game, it will not open at all and does not display an error message. Sometimes if I quickly open a program while the computer is still opening programs, it may open briefly but sometimes freeze. I am assuming it is a conflicting driver issue or program but no new hardware was installed.
This recently all started happening for no real reason as I had not downloaded or installed any hardware or programs when this happened.
Everything seems to work better in safe mode (although occasionally, some programs will also not boot up). I've tried all the usual options such as a clean boot (did not work at all), system restore (also didn't solve the issue), tried Repair in the boot up, tried opening msconfig, and also tried running Malwarebytes and anti-virus software in safe mode and so far nothing has been detected.
Im not sure if it is a driver issue as everything seems updated and the laptop is relatively new and hardly ever used with only a few installed programs since its purchase. I am running the laptop just fine in safe mode for the most part and can figure out what to do next.
Also, since the laptop was store bought, I don't have a Windows 7 install disc to re-install Windows. It was preloaded.
Im all out of options at this point. ... Read more

My son accidentally got his leg caught in the cord of his laptop when he got up and the laptop fell approximately 2 feet to the tile floor. It boots up but stays on the Lenovo splash screen. If I go into the BIOS and select System Recovery it goes through the "Loading files..." process, the Lenovo splash screen appears with the dots going in a circle but, then after about 2 minutes of that the screen just goes black. If I tilt the screen forward or back I can tell it is still backlit just with nothing to display. Anything we can try?Read other answers

I need help and suggestions on what to do with this black screen crisis. Mine is a little different that others. so sorry if this is a repeated thread. ive looked everywhere, and no one has the issue when they have dual boot.
I have dual boot on my laptop with windows 7 ultimate 32 bit and windows 7 home premium 64 bit. the home premium came pre installed on the laptop and the ultimate version i installed later dual boot (i needed some capabilities that home premium doesn't have).
Problem: I cannot see anything on my screen after windows logo while booting up my laptop bcz of the black screen after the windows logo. When i boot into WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM. i hear windows logon screen notification noise but see nothing! oddly enough even my built in webcam logs me in with VeriFace software with my face, passwordless! ALSO my laptop boots fine with windows 7 ultimate and i can see everything, and it works great! i need the other version to WORK cause my life is in that other version of windows. i cannot factory restore!!!
What i have tried: the keyboard is also unresponsive, bcz i held down a bunch of keys to see if it makes the beep noise. I closed the laptop lid to see if it goes into hibernation and waited 3 mins to see if it still does, so that when i open it i can see everything (it has worked before). nothing. i rebooted a bunch of times even with a second screen attached, tried to guess switch into projector mode with my function key and switch s... Sounds like a corrupted file system, so try running chkdsk.
How to run System File Checker (SFC) or chkdsk from the Recovery ConsoleBoot your Vista or Windows 7 installation DVD
When you see "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD", press Enter
At the "Install Windows" screen, click on Repair your computer at lower left
At the System Recovery Options screen, make note of the drive letter assigned to your boot drive (normally C and click Next
At the Chose a Recovery Tool window, click on Command Prompt. You will be sitting at X:\Sources directory
Run SFC or chkdskIf you did not note the drive letter of your boot disk, you can enter bcdedit and look at the osdevice line to see what it is.
For sfc, type sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows and press Enter (use the letter from above)
For chkdsk, type chkdsk c: /r and press Enter (use the letter from above).
Let either run to completion undisturbed.

Hey guys,So I have a Lenovo z570, and I want to put an SSD in it. Is this possible? If not is there a way to do it like a removable hard drive or something? My son hit some key on my laptop that turned the screen dim and I have been unable to make it brighter. Device manager says the monitor and display drivers are up to date. The display says that the screen is at 100% brightness but brightness doesn't change when I change that. Windows 10.
Perhaps it would be helpful to add that on start-up it is always dim. It is not a case of starting bright and turning dim.
Hey everyone. Basically I had installed windows 10 and was stuck on the screen with the spinning dots. I ended up getting in stuck in the "preparing to fix windows" problem. So I just reinstalled Windows 7 using (I think?) the backup. I dont have a windows 7 disk. Well it worked perfectly and then I turned it off to go to bed. The next day it wont get past the lenovo screen that starts immediately. it goes to a black page with a blinking typing indicator, but immediately restarts to the lenovo screen again. It never gets to the "preparing windows" stages. I tried looking it up and tried so many random things. Laptop: Lenovo thinkpad t-61 2gb of ram. Any help is greatly appreciatedRead other answers

Hello, my Lenovo laptop Z570 will no longer boot up, I was playing a game on it as it froze and the screen eventually went to black and now will no longer boot up at all. If i push the turn on button no fans can be heard or anything at all, no lights nothing. If i plug the charger in, the small charging light does light up, so is this not a battery problem? Anyways it would be great if this could be solved as i have some valuable coursework on their which i do not wish to lose.

I can only suggest is to Restore Factory Default Setting to remove W8 OS and re-install in a partition drive. You can check the official website of lenovo to get information or call the re-seller of lenovo laptop and ask them on how you can restore the previous OS.
Once you are done with the Factory Default Setting use this guide as DUAL Boot Clean Install - Windows 8 or Windows 8 To Go - Setup on a USB Flash Drive or USB Disk to install W8 and run properly. Or if you like to remove the default OS of your laptop use this http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials...ndows-8-a.html but I prefer the clean installation in a partition drive, once you got in trouble of W8 you can use your previous OS.
Let us know once you made it.

Hello All, I've had my Levovo Ideapad for 1.5 years, no problems until recently. Over the past few months when I turn the computer on all I see is a black screen it doesn't go to the Lenovo screen. Sometimes it stays on the black screen for a while and then boots up normally and works fine, sometimes it doesn't go past the black screen. Now the computer doesn't boot past the black screen at all anymore. I've tried the option of taking the battery out and pressing the power button for 30 seconds, that didn't seem to make any difference. Anyone else face this issue and able to fix it somehow? Hello, I need any help I can get. I we hvae a Lenovo IdeaPad that suddenly wont boot up. Was told there was a pop up warning about a battery that needed replaced, but unclear on WHICH battery. When power button is pressed, the fan starts, runs for 3 seconds and shuts off. The touchkey lights all light for a second then go out, except fo the volume touchkey. No sound of spin up on HDD, no flicker on screen. Have removed battery and tried to start on cord, with same result. Cord tested good, with a clean 20.6 V Have heard that dead/faulty CMOS battery can stop some laptops from starting, but unclear on where it is, or even a real possibility.
I have heard that same rumour about the CMOS battery, but I've never seen a real live case, so I'm not so sure that it is true.
Your symptoms are indicative of a blown motherboard, but there is one more thing to try before concluding that.
Unplug the machine, remove the battery, then hold the power button depressed for at least 30 seconds, longer if your finger can stand it.
Then plug in and try to boot up.

I have a lenovo ideapad y500 with a 1366x768 screen, and I am looking to pop open the screen, and replace the panel with a 1920x1080 screen. Assuming that I purchase another 15.6 inch screen (size of the original screen), is this possible? A model of the y500 is sold with a 1080p display, and the graphics card in my model is more than capable of outputting such a resolution. I was just wondering if there is a chance that the connections between my laptop and new screen would not match as I do not know if there is some sort of standard port with screens. Thanks!
You would need to find out the exact model of the 1080p screen was that was sold with that model and order the same one or compatible replacement model. Laptop screens are not universally interchangeable and you can't just buy any screen and connect it.

I bought this laptop 3 weeks ago. it's an intel i5 M520 with 4GB ram, 500gb hdd, ati radeon graphics, windows 7 64bit.
It crashed 3 times so far, and everytime after an hour of using the laptop only in battery while using the integrated video card. I didnt try with ATI card to run on battery. But I always use ATI when I am using an external monitor while it is plugged and it never crashed then. It did not crash when i was switching the graphics card.
I had to push down the power button to shut down as nothing was responding.
Havent installed anything complicated other than phpeditor and ftp filezilla, mozilla, chrome.
NOte that i reinstalled Windows to factory settings again using OneKey Recovery.
And to my disappointment it happened again and Today instead of being frozen it went to blue screen and restarted auto. Here is what the windows problem solver showed. What should I do? Hi and welcome Abu
This is pretty straight foward, your BSOD was caused by your intel wifi driver, please download and install fresh copy of it
Driver Removal and Reinstallation:
Please do the following:
- download a fresh copy of the latest Windows 7 version of the program for this driver from the Intel website (NOT from Windows Update or from the Update driver function in Device Manager). If there are no Windows 7 drivers, post back for further instructions on installing Vista drivers using Compatibility mode.
- uninstall the current version from your system
- install the freshly downloaded version
- check to see if you have any further BSOD's

This might be a driver problem or an hardware issue. You could download drivers at : http://support.lenovo.com/ORIf that doesn't work then call customer care and give a repair request. New Laptops have rare Screen Hardware issue , But may be defective. There will be an onsite warranty that can be used for solving your issue.Read other 1 answers
Greetings I flashed lenovo s10-3 with newest bios, downloded from lenovo site (on the site atomaticaly detected my nb model and serial number and after then I downloaded new bios), bios flashed successfully (I think so because I have see no error message, I can post log too), but after restart I get no screen (blank screen), only led blinks and fan starts, but no screen. Can you help me out? NB is out of warranty, I am sure I have not made mistake and I seen on forum there other people telling same problem after bios update.
