Hotmail Sign-in Access Error

Q: Hotmail Sign-in Access Error

(I'll appreciate any suggestions for this annoying problem):

For the past two weeks or so, I have not been able to download any email attachments. The attachments are perfectly safe, without viruses. When I try to download these attachments, a very brief security alert with a yellow shield icon appears. It disappears before I can completely read it.
Soon after I receive this error message:
Sign-in Access Error

"JavaScript required. The browser that you are using does not support JavaScript, or you may have disabled JavaScript.
Are you using a browser that doesn't support JavaScript?
If your browser does not support JavaScript, you can upgrade to a newer browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or Netscape 6.

Have you disabled JavaScript?..."

I can honestly say that JavaScript has been enabled on my computer the entire time. I've even upgraded JavaScript using SunJava. I've tried turning off Windows Firewall but had no luck. I currently have Norton Personal Firewall 2003 and Norton Anti Virus 2003. My browser is IE6 with SP2. Please help if you're familiar with this problem---it's annoying!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I can sign in and get to my inbox. From there I cannot click on or access anything else. I can't read emails, I can't get into folders, can't delete any emails, etc...

The only way I can get mail to work, is this:

I sign into MSN Messenger 7.0. I choose a contact to send an email to. This takes me to the email, with that person's email address inserted in the "To" line. I replace that email address with my own, then send an email to myself. When I get the notification box popping up through Messenger that I have a new email, I click on that box and it takes me there. By accessing my inbox this way, I can then access anything in my inbox.

Strange thing is...I can sign into a different hotmail account on the same computer and access everything in that other account.

Hello all,
I am having an issue accessing the Developer API access page within the Microsoft Security Response Center website (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/msrc). When I click on Customer Guidance > Developer API access, or navigate to https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-us/developer,
my browser first asks me to sign in and click which account I would like to use. I click my desired account, and it briefly redirects to the Microsoft Developer API Access page, but then after a split-second it redirects me back to the sign-in page. Is it
a requirement to have a specific type of email associated with the Microsoft account in order to get past this?

Thank you for your help!

I use both a Mac Book Pro using Safari Browser and Acer M4 (work) using Mozilla Firefox Browser. I cannot sign out of Hotmail on either of these computers. Getting a message to clear cookies. Have tried all permutation and combinations but to no avail. What does one do when this happens. Previous thread expired but gave no solution although it seems to be a common problem. As usual it is impossible to contact Microsoft and using their Online Help is useless. Any Suggestions???

A:Cannot sign out of Hotmail

Your account may have been hacked and the password changed.
That is what happened to me.
Microsoft claims they have patched the problem, but offer not more explanation than that.
Not being able to log out, is not a good sign.
Have you tried changing your password?
If you are logged in, (really) and not locked out, Changing your password and your security settings should resolve the problem.
The problem is, if you are signed iin from various devices, Microsoft thinks you are a security risk and has implemented some temporary lock outs.
Another possibility is that someone else is using your account, is logged in and you have too many longin nodes open, and hotmail flags that and shuts your account and flags it as compromised.

Hi, everytime I click the E-mail button on my XP start menu I get taken to the Hotmail signin page as shown below. If I ticked the Sign-Me in automatically would it take me direct to Hotmail or first ask me for my password as shown on the second image as I want to make it easier for me to sign in but still want to be prompted for my password because of security.

Thanks for any answers!

Note if the images don't work just put your mouse pointer over the first one and drag to the address bar and let go and then do the same with the second one. Thanks

Hello everybody. I'm hoping I can get some insight into a recent problem. For the last month or so I have not been able to sign out of Hotmail. I've tried all the solutions I can find or think of, like making sure 3ed party cookies are enabled, deleting all cookies, even uninstalling and reinstalling my browser (Aurora 11 latest). I have a dual boot system, and the same thing happens on both operating systems (even though one of them is not used very often to keep it clean). I run Windows 7 Pro 64. I've noticed the problem happens with Aurora (and Firefox, I tried installing it back) but does not happen with Explorer.

Any ideas, anybody?

Thanks, gordoncanada

If you type hotmail.co.uk into your browser's address bar does it bring up the proper page? If so, just create a new shortcut. If not, maybe a screen shot will help us understand what's going wrong.

Hey. I actually have two problems but Ill get on with the most important one first.

Problem 1
I have broadband. I cannot sign into msn messenger, check my hotmail email account, or sign into guildwars (an online RPG game). I can get into each of them from my sisters' computers. All my other internet works. Its just these three things that I'm having problems with. I've checked my firewall settings. What could it be? The thing is that sometimes each of them will work, othertimes they wont. MSN messenger gives me the error code 80048820, hotmail gives me 'This page cannot be displayed', and guildwars just sits there saying its trying to long on but never gets there.

Problem 2 (not as important as the first)
I recently got a new graphics card (Nvidia geforce 7500), its great with all my high-graphic computer games, but I cannot see DVD menu's, I get the rest of the DVD perfectly, its just the menu that wont work. I suppose it could be the software that I use (InterVideo home theater), but it never happened until I got my new graphics card.

Please help

Hello,

I tried to sign in via hotmail.com but it says wrong password!
tried for many times until they have blocked access to sign in

Contacted the windows live support and gave all the required information (even named the emails I had plus the last email I've sent and how many new emails I have atm)

Sadly the couldn't confirm and I gave them other information they did reply again but again not enough info.
At the same time I was trying to sign to my messenger but I keep getting the 80048823 error
googled and tried some methods and while I was googling suddenly the messenger signed me in!
I don't know how it happened and tried to sign via hotmail but it still won't let me in.

Did a third reply giving more information and that I'm able to sign in to messenger and asked if they could send the reset link as an im to me because I can't access my mail.

No reply since yesterday!
I remember that when you click the email icon on your messenger top right it automatically opens the email and no need to sign in.
but know it asked to sign in. How can I access my mail the same way with out entering the password?
Thanks

Using Trend Titanium Security and I opened a site from and email from a relation. I now realise that it was a form of virus, as since opening my relation's email, I can open my two email (Hotmail) accounts. When I attempt to signin, it hangs for a long time and then this appears "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I assume that setting have been manipulated and I am unable to contact Trend CHAT as it comes up as an unauthorised site. I can't email them or do anything. Any suggestions and help???

Thanks

A:Hotmail Sign In Disabled

No repl;y, but I sorted it out. I use CCleaner frequently and assumed that all cookies would be deleted. I did a complete scan with Trend and it picked up seven cookies not deleted. After that scan all seem to work well, but still had a couple of hiccups. And as soon as I had a hiccup I immediately did a CCleaner scan and the problem seem to sort itself. Strange, as I have no idea that a cookie could do what was happening. Thanks and this is for information to anyone who may have had the same problem....Thanks

Although I CAN use MSN 9 Welcome page dial up and connect to Internet, it will not sign me in on my MSN account. After "signing in, attempt 2" it gives me Message 36. I can, however, minimize MSN Welcome page and then use the connectionto browse using IE.

When I try to send email from my any of my MSN Hotmail accounts using Outlook Express on this computer, I get the following message: The server does not support the required HTTP methods. If I use IE to open the Hotmail Homepage and try to sign in to use my email, it says my User Name or Password must be wrong - but, of course, they are correct.

Can anybody tell me what is going on and how I can fix it. Because this does not happen with braodband or another computer, my IE or MSN software must be messed up?

Hello all, Hope someone can answer a quick question. I have signed up for a free hotmail email account. I use cable modem to link to internet and have comcast as my homepage. When I visit MSN homepage and click to check hotmail account...the sign in screen already has my e-mail address typed in the first box. I then only have to enter my password. The question is How does the site know who I am...I don't recall turning on any auto-complete feature...nor do i have MSN as my homepage. I do notice that if I visit after using window washer this does not happen. Is this due to a cookie? and how do I correct it. Do they know who I am based on my IP address? Confused!...Oh..almost forgot. this is prior to signing in to .net passport or any other feature. Thanx.

A:hotmail sign in and .net passport

Yes, it's a cookie...which tells the site's server you (or, rather, your computer) has returned. Cookies don't send any personal information...like your real name, address, phone number, credit card number, blood type, etc. ... they merely identify your computer. It's nothing malicious, it's intended to be a convenience for you. There are a number of ways to stop cookies. Window Washer is one of them.

Every site you go to can access your IP. I can't say that finding out who you are (real name, address, phone number, creidt card number, blood type, etc.) through your IP is impossible...but it's close enough to impossible to be highly improbable. Keep in mind that even the best hacker in the world can't access any information that's not stored on your computer.

I am an avid Scrabble player playing with up to a dozen or more players at a time and all moves are made by email, sometimes up to 80 or so moves a day.
All incoming emails are to my Hotmail address which I've set up with a sound (voice) notification whenever one comes in. I am running Windows Messenger which runs at startup, and until 2 days ago I used to log into Hotmail and sign into Messenger and every time I got an email I heard it arrive. 2 days ago the "Sign into Messenger" option disappeared, and now I have to keep checking manually to see if any emails have arrived.
Prior to this it has been working perfectly for the last 3 months.
I don't think my PC specs apply here, but I have WindowsXP Home SP2, 1024MbRam on an Intel 2.80GHz Dell PC.
Does anyone know how to get my "Sign into Messenger" option back?

I've sent email to Hotmail over this & posted in Microsoft forum but got no useful help from either. Perhaps someone here has a clue:

This is a new problem over about the last 2 months (not a problem before):

On Windows XP, Internet Explorer 7 (though happened also with Internet Explorer 6 before I upgraded):

Every time I open Hotmail via Internet Explorer, I sign in with username and password, it comes up that username and/or password is incorrect (even though it IS correct). I then sign on a second time, and log in successfully.

If I clear all cookies and Temp internet files, I can sign on the first time I try after that, but if I then close Internet Explorer and reopen & try again, or open a second Internet explorer window without closing the first, the problem reappears.

I have tried changing all the settings on security eg to allow 3rd party cookies, lowered other security settings eg to allow mixed content, I've tried adding the website to trusted sites...I've tried signing in with both standard and enhanced security, but the only thing that works is to clear the cookie/temp cache.

This problem is annoying because of having to sign in twice every time.

I also have MSN messenger running on the same machine - if I access Hotmail via the tray icon "My inbox" it opens without a problem.

There are 3 different Hotmail accounts used on this one computer (but under the one user profile) - however this did not present a problem before. An... Read more

when I sign into hotmail, I get this error page:

There was a problem and unfortunately, we have to ask you to sign in again. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

it has a Continue button to click, but when I click it, it just repeats the same error page. This started about 3 days ago.

A:Hotmail Sign in policy??

sportman11,

From Hotmail Help (Account activity):

Your account becomes inactive if you do not sign in for 30 days, or within the first 10 days after signing up for an account. Once an account becomes inactive, all messages, folders, and contacts are deleted, but the account name is still reserved.
If the account stays inactive for an additional 90 days, it is permanently deleted.Click to expand...

Hi, please help! My hotmail account is saying that I have an incorrect password when I have NEVER changed my password. It then says it will send a confirming email to the email address, but how can I access the email account if the password is not being accepted? I need help and MSN is not helping at all!

A:My hotmail account won't let me sign in

This can work if you had the hotmail option where the password was saved on your computer. If you gave an alternate e-mail address when you signed for Hotmail, you may ask a new password to be sent to that e-mail.

This is the third e-mail in recent days regarding wrong password for Hotmail accounts!

Hi there,
I have a really annoying problem with hotmail over the past few days. When I sign in, I am sent to a microsoft.net page that asks me to "match the picture" of crumpled-up numbers and letters. When I accurately do this, it just sends me back to the sign in page. If I sign in again, I have to go through the same thing. I can't get into my hotmail account, and I really need to. It could be part of the trouble in Hotmail land these past few weeks but, if not, how do I fix it?
Thanks to all

I would try to 1st clear your cookies and temporary files. You can do this from the internet options. Then restart your browser. I would also check that you are allowing cookies to be downloaded to your computer.

This just started recently, when I am accessing the internet using MSN, IE or even Firefox, multiple IE windows start to open and the page is the Hotmail sign in page. This is not my home page. I have run scans from AVG, Spybot, Bitdefender, Panda, Ad-aware, and A2 squared. Nothing comes up. I have the actually MSN software that I use, while putting in my password for MSN, multiple IE windows will open for me to sign into Hotmail. I have not installed any new Hotmail or msn items at the time this all started. I have tried uninstalling every Hotmail, MSN program I have and it still happens.
Thank you for any help you can give.

I am working on a Win. 98 computer and have cable access to the net. I can surf with out much problem although it has begun to crash pretty often. Ad Aware SE and SpyBot seem to have helped this... Anyway the main problem is that when I go to Yahoo or Hotmail and try to "sign in" I get a "page can not be displayed" page. I have run ad aware se and spybot s & d. Both find many things to remove and seem to be able to remove everything. Also soon after a reboot I get a message that a virus has been detected from symantec antivirus "trojan vundo", I let it remove it but it keeps coming back.

I have downloaded the programs you sugessted in "How To Remove Winfixer / Virtumonde / Msevents / Trojan.vundo" however vundofix.exe didn't find anything and VirtumundoBeGone.exe says it will not run on a Win 98 computer. Is there anything else that I can use on Win 98? Thanks.
