I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have just "upgraded" (if I can call it so) my 3 year old X1 Carbon to the 720 15IKB, I noticed the new adapter is 20V 6.75A (it's very big and heavy). My question is if I can use my old X1 Carbon adapter (20V 3.25A) or the one that came with my original Dock (20V 4.5A)? while away from home? I don't mind slower charging while traveling, my concern is performance and potential damage. If it isn't advisable, is there a lighter adapter I can purchase for traveling? Any advice and help appreciated. sutjahjo

Hi,I got and AUKEY PB-XD20 with USB PD (Power Delivery) 12V 1,5A - 18W.When I connect it to my yoga it charges it for few seconds than disconnects. Repeating the cycle over and over. The thing is - when I turned Yoga off and leave it connected to this power bank time the % of the battery is going up.When Yoga is up, after few cycles it gets crazy and hangs - forcing me to restart it. Can someone at Lenovo take a look into it and allow to charge it with some lower wattage while off? I do not want to break anything, but this cycle is probably worse than constant power delivery.

Hello everyone,  Trying to purchase an extra charger for the Lenovo Thinkpad T470 (which was bought in the US) and would love to know which one I can order locally, from Lenovo India.  These are the chargers are available and I can either buy an USB type C charger or the slimport charger, right?  https://www.lenovo.com/in/en/accessories-and-monitors/chargers-and-batteries/chargers/Lenovo-45W-AC-...https://www.lenovo.com/in/en/accessories-and-monitors/chargers-and-batteries/chargers/Lenovo-65W-AC-...https://www.lenovo.com/in/en/accessories-and-monitors/chargers-and-batteries/chargers/PWR-ADP-BO-USB... This is the one that came with the laptop (USB type C):   Would be great if you could please suggest what would be a good buy for this laptop or if it's better to buy a charger from Lenovo USA.  Thank you for  your time.

A:Recommended power adapter/charger for Lenovo Thinkpad T470

I would buy the USB-C, thinking if or when I replace the laptop, the USB-C charger is more likely to work as a spare.  As far as wattage, the 45W will be lighter, but 65W may charge some devices faster and is more likely to be compatible with any replacement.  (I am not suggesting that you are going to replace the laptop soon, but things happen and situations change.)

Hi I'm using an Advent 7111 Laptop using Windows XP Media Centre SP2.
I have an Orange Livebox wireless router (formerly Wanandoo I believe) and I can connect wirelessly on my laptop just fine when it is running on just the battery. As soon as I plug in the power adaptor/charger, the wireless connection disconnects. When I hover the cursor over the wireless connection logo in the bottom right corner (system tray i think it's called) it says the connection strength is excellent!? But even when it says it is excellent strength I still can't sign to Windows Live Messenger or surf the web! Please reply ASAP please!!!

A:Wireless network diconnects when I plug in the power adapter/charger!?

I did that to myself once when I carelessly put the power supply too near the wireless adapter.

If your power supply is not within inches of the adapter, and not in the direct path between router and adapter's antenna I'd guess you have a serious problem with the power supply or with the overall wiring in your house. Try plugging into the same outlet as the router.

So my Y510P's power adapter cord has finally deteriorated to the point that I need to replace it. Right now I'm looking at 170W replacements (since my laptop is SLI), and I noticed that though PWR+ on Amazon lists this model as compatible with their adapter, the max output is listed as 19V. But my original is 20V. Is this an acceptable compromise? Do I need to pony up more for an official replacement? $50+ is already pushing it for me at the moment, and I need a working cord soon. Is replacing a 170W 20V with a 170W 19V going to be a problem? for reference, the listings:https://www.amazon.com/Charger-QC3-0-Quick-Charge-Type-C/dp/B007JY7UR6https://www.amazon.com/Charger-Chromebook-Chromebook-Flip-C100PA-DB02-ADP-24EW/dp/B002ON3NFU/https://www.amazon.com/170W-Charger-Lenovo-Laptop-Gaming/dp/B00456PJ42/https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ON3NFU/

I would hope my subject title is all encomposing enough for anyone with a related issue to find this thread.  Sooo, here's the problem: My AC Adapter/charger/Power brick makes a ticking sound all the time unless I plug it into my laptop when it is under 100%. Under all other conditions, it makes a ticking sound. I am unable to leave it to plugged into the outlet when my laptop is fully charged without it making a ticking sound. And the ticking sound persists even if I unplug the charger from the laptop. Looks like the charger has a problem when it has nothing to charge. Anyone has any insight into this? Is this bad for my laptop or charger? Whenever I try to talk to hp online support, they want to mess up my BIOS and remove and uninstall things when my laptop is in perfect condition. I went through a lot of laptops to find 1 that works and I really don't want them to mess up any of my settings just to try and fix an accessory that came with the laptop. Does it make any sense for them to remote access my laptop and play around with it to fix my adapter? Thanks in advance for any and all feedback.

Earlier today, I had shut the lid on my Chromebook (putting it into standby mode) and had put it away. At this point it had full power. About half an hour later, I had opened it up again, but it had shut off, and I coudn't get it to turn on again until I plugged it in to auxilary power. When it revived, it still had full battery, but had forgotten the details of the network until I had signed in. This is similar to another issue, wherein the system will occasionally stop opening and running user-installed applications and block any access to local storage (such as viewing and downloading files), citing lack of permission (which does not apply otherwise), until restarting and logging in again. My device is fully up-to-date on the stable update stream. Why am I having these issues? Are there any ways to fix this permanently (aside from purchasing a different device)?

Hi! I have 4 years old Lenovo Yoga Ideapad 13.  The problems started couple weeks ago, when the computer wouldn't run or start up without being plugged in. I followed some other people's advice and got a new battery. It seemed to fix to problem for while. Now few weeks after the same problem stands with the new battery. It won't start or run, but when plugged in it says the battery is 100% and charging.   I tried checking if the charger isn't working, but it charges all fine on my other Yoga, which has the same charger model. So please note that this isn't the common problem that is seen here on the forums, that the battery doesnt charge. I'm pretty frustrated, as this problem persists even though I changed the battery. Anyone have ideas? I figured it could have something to do with the battery wire connecting battery to the motherboard, but there doesn't seem to be any defects or loose wires.  However, I tried taking off the battery connection wire when plugged in, and then I get the message "No battery detected" instead of the regular "100% Fully charged". Any help is appreciated.

The Yoga 3 Pro power adapter looks like a normal USB brick, and the cord looks like USB, except with a kink in the connector at the Yoga 3 Pro end. Can I charge my phone or tablet with it?

A:What's with the Yoga 3 Pro power adapter - it's a ...

Yes the Yoga 3 Pro power adapter is a USB charger too!

How does it work?

The special "fool proof" charging cord has two extra pins on the AC adapter end and two extra pins on the Yoga 3 Pro end. The extra pins only make a connection when the fool proof cord is plugged in to the Lenovo charger and the Yoga 3 Pro. When a regular USB cord is plugged into either the charger or the Yoga 3 Pro, it makes a regular USB connection.

Can I charge the Yoga 3 Pro with any USB charger?

No. The Yoga 3 Pro requires 2A at 20V, which is what the provided 40W Lenovo AC adapter supplies.

Can I charge a USB device with the Yoga 3 Pro AC adapter?

Absolutely. In addition to 2A at 20, the Yoga 3 Pro AC adapter supplies 2A at 5.2V (10.4W), enough to charge a phone or tablet. Works for iPad.

Where can I buy spare AC adapters and cords?

AC adapters with cords are sold in the accessories section of the Lenovo store.

Where do I find the part numbers for the AC adapter and cord?

Look for AC Adapters In the PDF Yoga 3 Pro Hardware Maintenance Manual.

What are the USB specs of the Yoga 3 charging port?

It's a USB 2.0 port. It provides enough power to charge an iPhone, but not enough to charge an iPad. If you want to charge an iPad, try the USB 3.0 port on the right of the Yoga 3 Pro.

The Yoga 3 Pro power cable connectors compared with a regular USB connector:

Hi there,  I am a new user of a Yoga 530 and was wondering if there is a possibility to charge the device with a powerbank? I know that the USB-C ports are not capable of charging the laptop and that the laptop needs to be charged via the small round plug (sry I don't know the technical terms). The question is rather whether there is a power cable available that has a USB plug on the "non-laptop" side so I can then plug that into my powerbank (or a USB charging station)? Hopefully, the question is understandable. Thaks for any help!

A:Yoga 530 Power cable adapter available?

Short answer is no. The USB Type A ports on power banks, et al, deliver 5V at around 1 or 2A. Your 530's slim-tip charging port is looking for Around 20 volts (I don't have the exact voltage available, offhand, but it'll be listed on the charger that came with the computer). Creating a USB to slim-tip cable could damage both the computer and the power bank.

Here is an article featuring several power banks that might provide the necessary voltage and current. As I haven't tried any of them, I can't say for sure, but if you're very careful to match voltage, current and connector polarity, you should be able to find one that suits your needs.

Hello everyone, I purchased Lenovo Yoga 900 Ideapad and I am currently using it in India. The power adapter seems to have gone bad and I wasn't able to charge the laptop with the given adapter.  Since the laptop is under warranty, I contacted the warranty help line only to know that I need to take the laptop to the service center. At a service center, no one really knew how the USB 3.0 charging port works and couldn't check whether the cable was short or the adapter had gone bad. Anyhow, they decided to replace it under warranty but again, they weren't sure when and if the replacement would arrive (as it depends on the inventory levels with Lenovo India).  An exclusive Lenovo shop then offered me an original Lenovo power adapter with USB 3.0 charging at USD 70 but only when it got delivered, I see that it is 40W and not 65W like the original one I had.  65W adapter - the USB 3.0 connecter (one which connects the laptop) is orange. The wall adapter doesn't heat up while laptop is charging.40W adapter - the USB 3.0 connecter is yellow. The wall adapter heats up quite a lot while the laptop is charging.  The Lenovo store representative has assured me that this is the right adapter but somehow I am not convinced.  Can the community throw some light on this:- Is it safe to use a 40W adapter for a 65W specification?- Is there any way I can get the adapter replaced by Lenovo US (I can ship the faulty adapter to US)?- I... Does anybody know where I can get a replacement power adapter for a Lenovo Yoga 2 11? According to the manual, it should be 45W. It appears that neither the original nor any approve substitutes that are listed on the Lenovo site are available for purchase from Lenovo.  I tried to buy one online but ended up giving my money to an overseas scammer. There seems to be a facsimile available in the States, but reviews say that it is a fire hazard and wrecks computers. I think there is a short in the power adapter. It gets red hot and only charges when not fully (about halfway) inserted into the wall outlet or power strip. I can hear sparking inside of the power brick when i insert it and a spark flies to or from the outlet to the adapter as the prongs near the receptacle. Not sure but I think this might be a short where the prongs fold into the adapter for travel. I don't transport it much so there isn't a lot of folding in and out in which I could blame the issue on over use. Anybody else have issues with the power adapter shorting? I have not had this computer very long, well since about christmas, what are my chances of Lenovo swapping this out for a new one? I am waiting for a call back after contacting tech support. There isn't and there won't be an adapter.  The USB-C power delivery process involves a negotiation between the computer (or other device) and the adapter. The same adapter can charge a 5V phone or a 20V laptop. (also 9V or 15V) If the adapter and computer cannot negotiate correctly, no charging will occur. My USB-C charger will charge my thinkpad or my cell phone, but not my other laptops.
