Q: Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15ISK wont start after pluggin...

Hey guys!! So yeah, I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15ISK laptop. It's a really cool laptop! And it's a monster in gaming! Also, it's new. I had it with me for about 2 months now. I have no negative comments about this laptop. This laptop was my dream laptop. I always take care of it and made sure it is in top condition. But you see, One day, like 3-4 days ago (sunday), when I got home I turned on my laptop to update my excel table for my expenses, it was bout 90%. After that, I took a nap leaving my laptop still turned on. When I woke up, I saw it was 10% percent. Of course, like any normal person would do, I plugged in the charger. To my suprise, It suddenly turned off by itself right after I plugged in the charger to the wall socket. Thinking that It just got lowbat, it was all right for me. Or so I thought. After that, I noticed that there were no lights that indicate that it is charging in my laptop. Please help!!! It's been 3 or 4 days now and I still can't use it!!! It won't charge, it won't turn on because of the lowbat and I can't fix it.Any ideas?? (i have a background on Electronics Engineering if it matters) i did some analysis. 1. I'm pretty sure that the battery is okay, but of course it's lowbat cause it shutdown at 10%. 2. My charger is perfectly fine. (I tried it on another y700 at a store, also, my laptop does not charge with another y700 charger) 3. I do believe that it is in the hardware because, like I said, the light indicator should light up when I try to charge it. I think it does not detect any charging activity due to a loss of continuity in the circuit. (I think) 4. I smell some sort of odor as if it were an IC was recently toasted near the exhaust fan. 5. I THINK my laptop broke because it was in the verge of dying (the battery was at 10 percent) and was not able to comprehend the sudden entry (from the charger's output) of high current (around 6 amps and 20volts) thus, receiving a shock that could have destroyed its internal components. Twist: I bought it in the Philippines but right now I am in Japan and will be living here for about a 1 year (for studies). If should I be left with no options I would probably go to a service center. Does anyone know if one exists in Japan?? All of those are just assumptions based on my observations and analysis based on my range of knowledge in electronics. Should you have any questions please email me. Also, I would want to know your thoughts on this. Please I need help and advices before I do any steps further to my demise. It has been 3 or 4 days now and I am completely worried about my laptop. It is just such a waste it broke to an event like that. Unacceptable and hurtful for me. It was such a good laptop and I think one of the best. Please help.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently bought a M.2 SSD and I want to use it as a cache drive. Intels RST requires AHCI mode, I was under the assumption that I was already in AHCI mode but my inability to create any raid volumes through the disk management or have my drives recognized by the RST app says otherwise. There is no option to change my mode from IDE to AHCI in BIOS due to it being locked. How can I work around this?

A:Lenovo ideapad Y700-15ISK how to put into AHCI

Look in the device manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller, it should say Intel(R) 100 Series/C230 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller. For your second part of your question, you need at least 2 disk with unallocated areas to make a RAID array. But, saying that I would never setup a software RAID (ie windows) array and the BIOS doesnt support a hardware RAID

So I'm planning on buying this model: Lenovo Ideapad Y700-15ISK, but the one I'm looking to buy doesn't have an SSD and doesn't specify which ports are still available, only that it has a 1TB HDD. So I wanted to ask: 1. Does it have a free M.2 port? all models of the Y700-15ISK should have them, or am I wrong? 2. Which type of M.2 SSD does it support? M or B+M? I already sent the same questions to the retailer, but I am still waiting for an answer so thought I'd ask here as well.

I'm having some lag with my touchpad, about every 3 seconds. Searched around about this problem and did some updates on the driver.

Even did a factory reset, but same problem.

Anyone having similar problem and fixed it?
Read somewhere that it may have something to do with the Realtek HD audio software/driver??

Using external mouse for the most, but would be nice to have the option to use a functional touchpad from time to time.

Have you seen this thread?http://www.tenforums.com/drivers-hardware/14107-windows-10-mouse-lagging.htmlThis guy claims that disabling start at boot of Realtek application called FMAPP.exe solved the problem. A lot of people in this thread say that it solved their issue. Can you check if it solves your problem? Let me know when you find out.

Hey Everyone,Is it possible to upgrade my brand new Lenovo Ideapad Y700-15ISK (LE80NV00JWMX) with an m.2 SSD? It's the version with 1TB HDD, which is terribly slow.. Sadly, the manual and different online posts I found, didn't give me a decent answer to my question, and i'd rather be sure, before I go and hastly buy something i'll regret. If its possible, i'm open for suggestions of what to upgrade with aswell (120-250gb m.2 only). For now, I was looking at the Kingston SSDNow 120GB M.2 SSD (M.2 2280, SATA 3.0, up to 550/200MB/s read/write, 150 TBW).Hope you guys can help me, as i'm not 100% sure, if it actually supports m.2 SSD, and what version I need? (I believe its 2280, from what I researched so far, but im not sure if its only the ACK version)Best regards,New user ;D

Hi, I wonder is there any way to turn fans off? Cpu temp is about 30 celsius and they still keep running. They don't stop even once. Do yo think this is a normal situation? Do your laptop's fans run without any pause? It gives me headaches.Agghh... Thanks,

A:Lenovo IdeaPad Y700-15ISK Laptop turning fans off

There isn't a way to manualy turn off the fans. Keep your laptop well ventilated in a cool place, and choose a power plan different than "High Performance". If your laptop gets cool enough, it will stop the fans

Good evening, It's more about notifying (and perhaps helping other people): using latest NVidia from Lenovo on an Ideapad Y700-15ISK (GeForce GTX 960M) gives poor performances with Windows 10 Creators Fall Update on old games such as Wolfenstein Enemy Territory or Sven-Co-Op; I had an older build before and it was running well.Updating to latest NVidia drivers through GeForce Experience, fixed.Had stable 125 FPS (with Lenovo drivers from October 2016), after Creators with Lenovo 25-40 FPS, and now again 125 FPS with latest non-Lenovo NVidia drivers.

I have already updated a bunch of drivers to no avail. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Also why there is no updated BIOS; energy management driver for windows 7 but only for windows 10?

A:32 GB Ram on Ideapad Y700-15ISK ?

Hi basitj  ,

Greetings .

I was also waiting for other members to try going beyond 16 GB on this model.
So far,  was not able to get a verified working upgrade on this model most likely since it was just released in the market and that it is using DDR4 already.

Seen models that worked from beyond recommended RAM from OEM since memory controller of processor usually exceed whole system max ram. This is due to systemboard limitation and firmware identification set by OEM.

If you can have your company IT group test it or have computer shop to try going beyong 16 GBDDR4 then it's the only time we can decide .

Update us if possible , it would be a good reference for our community.

Regards

Grettings. So, last year i bought this Ideapad Y700 Touch-15ISK gaming laptop and i really love it, just that i would like to make a small upgrade to it, like having a SSD (exclusively to load OS) and a HDD (to install games/software, etc), i just wonder if it's possible (if the hardware has the slot to do so). Also i was wondering if i can replace it's graphics card to a higher-tier one (it came with a GeForce GTX 960M, was thinking to get the GTX 980M), as i was thinking to assemble a gaming PC, i thought it would be easier to me to just upgrade my gaming laptop (and save a lot more money doing so) Thanks in advance

Last night, after having left the computer idle for about an hour, I returned to find it partially 'frozen' - at first I could navigate between apps, but not activate anything, and after about a minute, the keyboard seemed to become unresponsive. I did a hard reset (holding down the bower button). When the computer powered up again, it could no longer boot? It continuously restarts, but never makes it past the 'Lenovo'-logo. I have tried holding down f2, f12, f8, delete, and most combinations of these (including fn and alt). Putting in a boot-usb (win 10) does not have any effect, presumably because the computer never gets that far in the start-up process. During the night I let it keep restarting without a power cord in, to drain the batteries, in the hope that this would somehow reset it. That had no effect. I have also tried pressing the 'OKR' button with a paper clip. I can feel it click, but it doesn't solve anything either. I have also tried plugging in a USB-keyboard, and see if the f2,f12 etc had any effect there, but it seems it didn't.  Any there anything left to try?

Good morning, I first through it was an NVidia issue, but I've tested on both IntelHD Graphics and the GTX 960M, same issues; Drivers up to date (Windows 10). Original post on NVidia forums (unanswered):https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/980544/geforce-900-series/gtx-960m-games-are-dark-wolfet-re... It's particularly an issue with Wolfenstein Enemy Territory; You can see with the screenshots in my DropBox that enemies are almost totally black. I did some research from time to time the past months, should I run a calibration tool like CalMAN RGB? Any other idea? ^^' This is really an issue when it comes to game development... My ideapad laptop has had decreased battery life since the end of last summer.  I chalked it up to playing too many games for an extended period of time - leaving battery and AC adapter in for days (in hindsight, bad idea, but I didn't want to crack it open quite yet). After running some tests here and there, I figured probably the best thing to do was replace the battery.  I had previously had to replace the AC adapter for a very minor issue, but I bought the replacement from Lenovo.  I also bought a new replacement battery from Lenovo. Today is the first day I've placed the battery in the laptop (it's been boxed for a few months while I've been at college).  While there is a drastic increase in performance (the old battery would last maybe 45 minutes at BEST on power saver mode), I am still only getting maybe 1.5 on my new battery.  I've tried updating the battery driver.  I tried updating the BIOS, but I'm getting an error which says something along the lines of the rom is the same, leading me to believe my BIOS is already updated. I've tried calibrating the battery using this guide by howtogeek.  (edit)  I don't think it's very effective, as I still see sometimes the time suddenly drop or increases, no steady prediction of time, and the percentage seems to drop very quickly as soon as it is unplugged.  I am not sure when or if it levels off. Is this an issue with calibration or capacity?  I ha... Hello and welcome,

It may be that nothing is wrong.  You laptop may have an "always-on" USB port that can be used for charging external devices.

You might try using another port, or checking BIOS to see if there's an option to turn off that feature.

I'm having trouble finding documentation that addresses this, so the above is just a guess.
