I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an Acer E3-111 that I bought less than a year ago. It's my fourth Acer PC, and I've generally been very happy with the company's products and support. I upgraded to Windows 10 from the preinstalled Win 7 a few months ago, and I have had serious problems with my touchpad/cursor ever since. The cursor stops moving or jumps, and when I try to select text, it often freezes in the middle of the selection process. It's making the computer unusable. I contacted Acer and got the driver update, but it did not work. I contacted Acer again, and spoke to a very rude gentleman who said he could do nothing for me. I contacted Microsoft and one of their techs took remote access of my PC and did something that briefly helped, but then the problem returned. I considered going back to Win 7, but I no longer have the restore point -- too much time had passed, and the old installation got deleted on a system cleanup. Acer eventually sold me my original system installation on a USB for about $50, but did not tell me it would require a full system wipe, which I don't want to do. Does anyone have any idea how to fix these cursor problems on the E3-111 in Windows 10?

Hi, I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro and today, my cursor disappeared and my touchpad is not working. The cursor only appears when I use a USB mouse. Hi, I got my HP ENVY 15t-q100 CTO Notebook PC in September, 2014. It has Windows 8.1, 64-bit. For the first few weeks of use, I did not have any issues. Then, I started having more occurences of cursor/touchpad issues to the point where it happens every hour of use (not an external mouse issue): Jumps around on screen (a few millimeters to inches). Move incrementally on its own without me anywhere near the laptop (generally spazzes to the left). Not allow scrolling/normal touchpad functions when issues are occuring. Functions as if I am holding down the click button while I try to move it - most frustrating part when I am doing important work. Randomly click stuff as I attempt to move it.  Here is what I have tried to do to fix it and has not worked:Roll back driver (didn't work). Update driver (no updates available). Reset device (works for a minute or so). Restart (I do this daily anyway). Reduce cursor speed and other mouse options suggested online.   I have seen similar issues for the HP Envy 17 and other notebooks, but no actual fixes have been proposed. Please help me with this issue.

Hello,

I have a Dell Latitude D630 laptop that has issues. Sometimes the touchpad works, and sometimes it doesn't. I've noticed when it doesn't work, the icon in the tray has disappeared or never booted up to begin with. Sometimes it boots up and sometimes it just doesn't even boot up to the tray at all. And at other times, it does.
(Along with this, maybe it's just a coincidence, but I've been working on this for days and days but when the touchpad doesn't work, the keyboard acts up too!) This might have nothing to do with it at all.

I've done a complete reformat of the hard drive, installed Win XP Professional, reinstalled drivers over and over. Been to the Dell website and have all the newest drivers.
When I reinstall the touchpad drivers, it does work once again, but this seems to be short lived.
The laptop is 4 years old...seems strong otherwise, can handle multiple tasks fairly well, has a dual core installed.
I can't figure it out.
Can anyone help?

Thank you!!
Pam

Try logging off, and log back as Browse as Guest. If this fixes the problem it's probably an extension setting or something tied to your account causing this. If so, try disabling the extension and test again. You may have to disable several extensions to pinpoint the cause.

I have a Lenovo 100s Chromebook, and on my main user account the touchpad stops working and the mouse dissappears every few minutes. I have to do a force shutdown whenever this happens, and I tried a powerwash on my computer to delete all local files, but it still happened twice more after just a few minutes when I reopened my main google user account. I'm currently using the Guest Account and I have yet to encounter the problem. This problem appeared just a few days ago and has become more and more frequent, now reaching the point where I have to force shutdown and restart so often that I cannot work in my classes. I don't want to have to replace the computer, and I can't figure out a software or hardware solution to this issue. Thanks!

Hi, when I start up my computer or awaken it, I have problems with my cursor disappearing and the window that I'm working in goes to inactive (i.e., the dark blue banner at the top of the window goes to gray). This will happen every minute or so for about the first 20 minutes. I have noticed it when I use just about any app including MS Word, any browser and Outlook Express. I seem to get popups from nowhere when I initially reawaken my computer. I can be using Firefox but then suddenly IE pops up with an ad. I might get 5-6 pop-ups in the 10 minutes that I begin working and then they stop. But the cursor disappearing happens even when no pop-up occurs. You can hear the harddrive crank for a few seconds when the cursor disappears. When I click back into the window I was working in, the cursor returns and i can continue. However the cursor might disappear another 6-10 times over the course of the next 20 minutes. Eventually, the problem seems to stop after I've been working for 20- 30 minutes or more.I have run Spybot and AdAware (even in safe mode) but it has not cleared up the problem. I'm running Windows ME and would like to upgrade to XP but thought it would be wise to resolve this problem first. Hello hickoryworks and welcome to the BC malware forum. I don't see anything in the log that would indicate any infections or malware. There are only a couple of housecleaning items for missing files to take care of so let's do that.Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - ~CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair. In regards to the mouse, if it is a wireless mouse, check the batteries. If that does not resolve the problem or if it is not a wireless mouse then replace the mouse with a known good one and see if the problem persists. If so, then I would suggest posting a question in the hardware forum and see what they have to say.Cheers.OT

When I am typing an email, no matter what the program, earthlink, hotmail, etc. while typing the cursor disappears and the email window I am typing in appears to become inactive. If I click on the window again with the mouse, the cursor comes back. this only happens with email. What is going on?

A:E-mail cursor disappears

It probably happens because the e-mail box is not the active window. This happens whenever one clicks from one program to another, but most programs, when they become the active program pop to the top of the pile.

Somehow when you are doing e-mail you are probably accidently selecting something out side the e-mail box which makes the e-mail box inactive, but whatever program it is does not pop up in front of the e-mail box.

I have an intermittent problem. About 50% of the time I log off in Windows XP Professional Edition and return to the login screen, my cursor disappears and I can't login from that screen. As a work around I must hit ctl-alt-del twice to login from the regular login screen. Can someone help me find the underlying cause of this problem? All Windows updates are installed. Started pre SP2 now running SP3

Hi. I am new to this site. A friend of mine has asked me to find out why his Toshiba Satellite, L305D-S5974, Windows 7 32-bit Home Premium, AMD Sempron Processor SI-42, 3GB DDR2Ram 250GB HDD computer will not boot up. He, somehow, dropped the laptop.

At boot up, the "Toshiba" screen comes up and requests selection of F2 or F12. Pressed f2. Screen changes to blank screen with flashing cursor. Cursor flashes twice.....then nothing. Learned that I must click f2 twice in order for boot manager screen to appear. Have clicked on Windows7 selection, the screen remains blank for several minutes while the disk slowly flashes (indicating it is loading). Error Recovery screen says "Windows failed to start"........then screen says "Window has encountered a prolem communication with a device connected to your computer. This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive oc CD-ROM drive that is failing. (There was a wireless mouse and the modem cable connected at the time of the incident.....but nothing is plugged into the laptop now). Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer. If you continue to receive this error message, contact the hardware manufacturer. Status: 0xc00000e9.....Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred."

Can you help me with some ways to get this computer back into operation? Thanks... Read more

I have a toshiba laptop with touch screen and after signing on and going into the internet my cursor disappears. Touching the keypad moves the screen up and down, but no cursor so I have no control over it. I finally plugged in a wireless mouse and that works fine. Just the touchpad is messed up. Sometimes I can see the cursor but it freezes, other times the cursor disappears. I've read alot about it and it seems to be a glitch in 8.1, from what I see, but I also seen others have problems with this too. HELP PLEASE! It's annoying and if it wasnt' for the touchscreen the laptop would be useless. Also, it didn't start until the 81 upgrade. It wasn't doing that with 8.0

A:Solved: cursor freezes or disappears in 8.1

All I can suggest, and you've likely tried this already, look for a different touchpad driver on Toshiba's and the touchpad manufacturer's web sites.

I seem to be suffering the same problems as the (OP) chap in this thread.

It seems that the guy providing the help has been banned. Is there anyone else who can help please? From what was said, the error log is needed, so mine is attached. Any help in decyfering it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance
