product code for preinstalled office

Q: product code for preinstalled office

Hi, I bought my computer in April 2012 and never activated my preinstalled MS Office ; I guess I didn't need to at the time. I now need to activate it, and can't find my product code; I'm not even sure it came with the computer, because I don't have it anywhere, and I saved EVERYTHING from when I bought it except the packaging.

Preferred Solution: product code for preinstalled office

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Have MS Office preinstalled when I got my hp convertible but how can I get product key for the activation?

A:Have preinstalled ms office but need product key

@Mohammadali1 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!First of all, you need to know that HP keeps no records of individual MS Office product keys associated with individual PCs. That means there is no way to obtain this information from HP.Second, ever since Office 2013, MS Office has been distributed in two different forms: (1) installed locally, (2) installed using Click-to-Run (CTR).  The local versions used a product key received with the purchase (or via email, from a download), the CTR versions used a product key received via email from MS, but it was NOT stored on the PC. If you have the Local version, you should be able to retrieve that key using these utilities:  https://www.lifewire.com/free-product-key-finder-programs-2625119 If you have the CTR version, the key is not stored locally, and you can only get it by contacting Microsoft.Good Luck

The Bundled Office 365 subscription that came with my HP Pavilion has an issue. Microsoft's activation web site says it is invalid. Chatted with the Microsoft tech he said it is a good product code but HP needs to say that I have purchased it. Chatted with an HP tech he had me download and install the Office 365 free trail. He said when that expires I should then enter the product code. This doesn't sound correct to me and doesn't help me download it on to my other computers as stated on the subscription card. It says this is good for up to 5 PC. I have registered this new machine so it should be activated. HP needs to fix the issue.

This Notebook came with Office 365 One Year Home Subscription as part of the bundle. The Subscription is for up to 5 PC for one year. I registered this notebook and I repeatedly tried to activate this on the Microsoft site following the instruction on the subscription card. The automated site said it was an invalid number. I made absolutely sure the product code was entered correctly. I contact a MS tech by chat and he verified it was a good product code but it was set up to be activated by HP. The MS tech suggested I contact HP which I did by Chat.
Here is the case number 3029147850.  Anand Kumar from HP Chat Support team had me download the free office 365 trail on the notebook. He claims that at the end of the one month trail I'll be able to activate the one year subscription with teh product code. I'm not sure this will work and it leaves me unable to download Office 365 on my other 3 computers because they have an olde version of Office and all they want to do is an upgrade.
So what is going on here how am I to be able to download and activate Office 365 properly?

I hope someone can help me with this issue.

Ive used pirated bootables with preinstalled product keys in the past but am now on the straight and narrow, wanting to add my product key to my legitimate copy of windows 8. This way I wont have to worry about having it written down, losing it or entering it incorrectly, since it will be automagically entered for me.

Does anyone know how I can add the product key to my bootable image?

No need to add product key to a Windows 8 image, as the installer will see the key in the BIOS.

Where is the Windows 8 Product Key?

Factory-installed Windows 8 computers differ from previous versions of Windows. Previously, the Product Key for Windows was attached as a label on the computer so that, in the event that the computer required reinstallation, the key could be referenced for activation.

For Windows 8, the Product Key is "injected" onto the computer motherboard at the factory, and the installation and activation processes refer to the BIOS of the computer to verify authenticity and activate Windows. No Windows Product Key is otherwise provided or needed by the customer.

Mahbubur_Rifat Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! Your product key is still on the PC.  On Win8 machines and newer, the product key is embedded into the UEFI firmware of the motherboard.  You can retrieve is using this tool:  http://www.tenforums.com/software-apps/2577-showkey.html Howver, what you SHOULD use to restore your PC is HP Recover Media and that will automatically find and reuse the product key. HP Recovery Media is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. So I have this Lenovo laptop with a preinstalled Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit, and somehow I managed to mess with it to the point that I can't boot to normal or safe mode, and refresh or reset the system. I have tried different methods to fix this (renaming software to software.001, trying to boot to safe mode, etc) yet no success. One of my friends told me that the OS is corrupted, so I want to do a clean reinstallation of Windows 8.1 but given a preinstalled machine, I don't have the CD with me. I haven't downloaded an installation media from microsoft website yet because I realized I don't know the product key. I have searched through my laptop's box and case with no result. With that done said, can I know my windows product key while I cannot even boot? (I'm stuck in windows recovery environment)

I have a new computer that came with "Microsoft Office" pre-installed with a trial version. Since I do not have a use for it, I uninstalled it. However, I keep getting notices that there are important security updates for 2007 Microsoft Office System available.
The question is: Are these upgrades for the same trial program I unistalled or have I made an error and they are something important to the operating system?

A:Microsoft office preinstalled trail

Updates for the OS are always labelled as such.

It sounds like the trial system left some bits and pieces lying around that are getting picked up by the update system. Check in your Add or Remove Programs to see if there's anything else pertaining to Office.

I currently have Win 7 Pro retail 64 bit installed on my system. I ordered a second copy of Win 7 Pro retail to install as a second instance on my system, then later deactivate that second instance of Win 7 and then install it on a new computer if and when
I buy a new computer. Unfortunately, what I received shows an OEM sticker inside what looks like a retail box.
If I change the current retail product key on my current installation of Win 7 Pro with the OEM product code, is the original retail code disabled or just deactivated? Will I be able to use the original retail product key on a future installation? I have
a few days to return the mislabeled Win 7 Pro OEM version, and then look to buy a Win 7 Pro retail version (a few of these left).
Note my current system is one I assembled myself from components I bought from various stores (motherboard, processor, video card, sound card, disk drives, case, fans, ... ).

In another post, Mulderator says "as long as you have your original CD and product code" referring to re-installing XP. I have years of experience with 98 and ME, but all this online validation stuff is new to me and has me confused.

I bought several refurbished machines each with a new copy of XP pre-installed. Not much in the way of restore, rescue, or re-install disks though. So I bought a new Windows Home XP CD.

So now I have several machines, each with a shiny new "Certificate of Authenticity" sticker on the back, with what I would call the COA number on it. And I received another COA sticker with my new XP CD.

Is this COA number what is meant by "product code"?

More specifically, can I use the new XP CD to re-install XP on a misbehaving refurbished machine. Does the COA on the back of the machine identify the OS installed on the machine, and as such I should be able to use my new XP CD to re-install XP on the other machines (each has its own paid-for COA sticker)?

I have paid Microsoft many times for XP, I am not trying to bootleg anything here.

A:Product code?

From my experience, if the COA includes a valid XP product key (a 25-character string in five sets of five), you SHOULD be able to install XP from any CD and just use that key when prompted for it. The only limitation is that the key has to be for the same version of XP (home/pro/MCE) that you're installing; in other words, an XP Home key won't work if you're installing from an XP Pro CD.

The other thing you have to watch for is that MS will only let you Activate with a particular key a set number of times, after which you need to call MS and have them reset the activation for that key.

Windows loaded fine and works fine but says I have 15 days to registra. I am getting different answers from different people and the more people I ask (including the computer shop) the more confused I get. Most are saying that I will have to repurchase a new windows 7 with validation code. Some say I can contact Microsoft and at a smaller fee, get the validation code. One person told me that the validation code is located, deep inside the disc and told me how to retrive it. Bassically, turn computer on, go to my computer, insert windows 7 disc, go to explore, click on sources, and locate product. Which I did. And it does show not one but about 20 validation codes, several for windows home, some for windows home preminum, (which I have) and windows professional. I have entered a couple of the codes but it ways "wrong registration #" I havent run through the full list yet. Will one of these numbers really be the validation code. Sone else told me that there are no validation codes in the disc and that disc can be used on mutiple commputers but would have to purchase a registration code for each computer. Thank you for taking the time to read this message.
Several years ago I installed Microsoft Office XP.
At the time of installation I was asked to type in the Key Code which consisted of 25characters.
This "Key Code" was on the box the software came in.
I put the software CD in a jewel case.
Unfortunetely a few years ago I suffered a house fire that just about destroyed everything from water damage and the software box got water logged and ruined.
I now have no way of knowing what the "Key Code" for the software is so I can reinstall it on another computer.

My question is... was there any place this Key Code was stored in the hard drive during installation ??
I have been going out of my "trees" trying to figure it out.
If one of you "Pro's" can help it will be very much appreciated.
The full program is Microsoft Office XP.
Thank you for your time.

A:product code

A 25-character product key for a Windows 7 disc does not expire.
What expires is the number of days you can use Windows 7 without activating it.
If you bought those 2 discs on eBay for a very cheap price, they are likely non-genuine/pirated copies.

2 years ago (August 2010), I had a desktop tower computer, which I installed Windows 7 onto. It worked fine for a bit... then died. I never had a chance to uninstall Windows 7, because the 4 year old machine just spazzed out and died. Today, I found the install disk for Windows 7. I decided to install it onto an old laptop I had (A Lenovo 3000 n200), but the problem was that I could not find the product code. It was the same code used to install Win 7 onto to old desktop, now dumped, and to my surprise, it worked.
Now for my question.
Did this happen because Microsoft did something about the product code because the computer it was on died, or did it happen because I was lucky? And if I was lucky, can I call Microsoft and tell them what happened in order to make my laptop's Win 7 truly legit?

A:Possible product code glitch.

If it's a retail version of Windows 7, it's legit.

There is no explicit deactivation. I suppose that the activation server resets in time, just as for Windows XP. If it hadn't reset, telephone activation would have been required.

Et voila my PC today can only access the internet for half an hour at a go. ANy advice on this?

A:Invalid Product code - help !

with microsoft you can only use a product code once and that's it, unless it is a system restore disc that came with your computer you can use it to your hearts content.

I have a friend whose Aspire R7-571 has had a hard disk problem, and he is in the process of order the restore disks to reinstall WIndows 8 and other software. In the meantime I would like to install a copy of WIndows 8 from Microsoft on it, but there is no product code sticker on the laptop and it does not seem to be anywhere in the paperwork he got when it was given to him as a gift. Is there a number I can call at Acer to get this information? I was able to make an image of the files on the disk if that helps. Thank you.

the product key is stored on BIOS, but to be valid you need the Acer OEM version.
