Change Ctrl+Alt+Delete text to Ctrl+Alt+End

Q: Change Ctrl+Alt+Delete text to Ctrl+Alt+End

I am trying to update the logon screen so it says "Press Ctrl+Alt+End to log on" on a Windows 7 virtual machine instead of Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Does anyone know a way to
do this? I have already tried the procedures for manually modifying the authui.dll.mui file with Notepad + + and that just corrupted the disk.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Sir
I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10 installed.

In Google search box, when I type Ctrl+Z( for undo), it does NOT work. Neither does Ctrl+Y( for redo). When I type Ctrl+backspace for deleting the preceding word, it works perfectly, but when I type Ctrl+Delete to delete the following word, it does NOT work at all. Kindly help me out of this problem.

In Notepad, Ctrl+Z( undo) works but Ctrl+Y(redo) does not. Neither does Ctrl+backspace(to delete the preceding word) but Ctrl+Delete(to delete the following word) works perfectly.

I don't know why some shortcut keys work and some don't. Please tell me how to make all these shortcut keys work in Google search box as well as in Notepad.

Yours sincerely
Babu Kumar

Yoga 2-11 Yesterday the CTRL-C, CTRL-X, and ALT-CTRL-DEL functions stopped working; strangely CTRL-V works fine. It's very difficult to get the @  and ? symbols to appear, but capital letters using the same Shift key are fine. Also, when I would type, several of the same letter would appear, and when pressing the space bar several spaces would appear. I fixed this issue by adjusting my keyboard settings by setting the repeat rating to the slowest setting. I've used device manager to uninstall the keyboard, also updated drivers, etc, but nothing seems to fix things. Using Windows Key R and OSK to display the onscreen keyboard, and using my physical keyboard for input confirms that the Shift and CTRL keys work. One thing that I noticed: when I touch the CTRL key a round onscreen circle appears and gets smaller and disappears; this is also true for CTRL-X and CTRL-C, but when using CTRL-V the circle does not appear.

I would like to change the wording on the Windows 7 logon page from "Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to unlock this computer" to "Press CTRL+ALT+INSERT to unlock this computer". My company uses a lot of VMware View desktops and it's tedious to continually inform users of the keystrokes. I have searched through the forums here and cannot find the file that I need to configure. I have downloaded Resource Hacker and love it but I just need the file name. Can anyone point me in the right direction or let me know if this is even possible?

Thanks

Hello! My computer is acting strange; I hope you can help!

I use Firefox to browse. While I'm online, I keep having IE pop-ups appear--most from PartyPoker. I tried to change the IE homepage, but the option is greyed out. It's like the option to change it has been locked away. The page is currently set for: whatsfind.com/route.html. It redirects to a site called "Qwest" something or other.

I've also noticed that my computer has slowed down--especially the Internet. Maybe my resources are being drained? I can't even check my processes--when I try to press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, nothing happens. I tried to go into "msconfig" from the Run menu in order to go to Safe Mode, but I just got an error that read: "Windows cannot find 'msconfig'."

Last night it worked fine; this morning was when the problems began. I couldn't boot in Safe Mode, so I unplugged the network to scan with Windows Defender, Spybot, Ad-Aware, and the like.

The scans found nothing. I tried to use PandaScan, but it wouldn't download. I also scanned with HouseCall.

This is my HijackThis scan. I hope you can help.

Thread title pretty much sums it up: CTRL-A disabled, CTRL Key Works, A Key Works, Other CTRL-combos work. I use CTRL-V, CTRL-C, CTRL-Z, etc all the time.

CTRL-A has never worked for me, in any application. Instead of selecting all, CTRL-A pastes, the same as CTRL-V, only when you use CTRL-A, in addition to pasting, it also makes a system sound, kind of like a knock sound. Out of desperation to identify the sound I looked control panel sounds and listened to all of them, it's not there.

I've never really needed CTRL-A until now because I'm wanting to use a specific application that has no other way to select all except CTRL-A, so I'm now desperate...

Any help will be much appreciated.

Hello. I encountered a weird problem.

I recently bough Acer Aspire 5734Z with Windows 7 Home Edition installed. When I type CTRL + C or CTRL + V my touchpad stops working for a few seconds. Then it get back to normal. And Except this the functions of ctrl + c and ctrl + v works.

This happens all the time, no matter how much I copy, I can copy nothing doing just the combination and my touch pad freezes.

When playing games as GTA Vice City I have problems using WASD movement at the same time as I adjust the screen(camera) with touch pad. Suddenly lot of combinations stop working, and I have to either stop walking around (WASD combinations) and use touchpad to adjust screen, then stop using touchpad and go back to using WASD.

I hope you understand. I am not very good at explaining things. And I really hope to find a solution to this.

When I did first-run of the laptop, the touchpad didnt have scrolling function working. So I went to acer.com, found my computer model, selected Windows 7 Home Edition and installed the newest touchpad driver 64bit. And it worked. Scrolling working. But freezing problems still occurs. There seems to be a bit of an issue someone pointed out to me when trying to search for text on HTML pages in IE. I've only tested this on IE 11, but its probably across most versions.

If their is some multi-word text spanning multiple lines without a space at the end of the line, the Ctrl+F feature in IE does not seem to match the text. Firefox and IE  match and identify all 4 instances of the text in the example below fine, but
IE fails to match two instances.

While in the sample below it seems relatively minor. However we have 100's of HTML pages(some quite long) and many users rely on Ctrl+F within the page to find text phrases. Is there any way to fix this odd behavior  or is it a bug in IE? The only
workaround seems to be to try and ensure any text that has line breaks in code has a space at the end of line.

Example HTML file:

<html><body>
<p>ABC DEF</p>
<p>ABC
DEF</p>
<p>ABC
DEF</p>
<p>ABC
DEF</p>
</body></html>

Hi all!
I need help to use macros properly. It is my first attempt at doing this, and I don't understand what I am doing wrong.

I have found this thread which resembles my problem, but I still do not understand what to do
http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/595235-solved-need-help-macro-using.html

Basically, I have 2 Excel spreadsheets open.
One is List A, the other is List B (Master List).

I have worker codes in List A, and have to find them in the B list to assign them a code (1) in column M.

What I did was go in my first spreadsheet, and selected the first worker code. Then, I started recording my Macro from there.
Ctrl+C worker code
Ctrl+Tab to second spreadsheet
Ctrl+F to open find box
Ctrl+V to paste the worker code copied from before
Close the search box
Cursor now over Worker code, Move over to column M by pressing the RIGHT arrow 12 times (from A to M)
Type "1" and then Enter
Ctrl+Tab to come back to first spreadsheet
Down Arrow to move on to next worker code
STOP MACRO

However, the Macro looks like this :
Selection.Copy
ActiveWindow.ActivateNext
Cells.Find(What:="A4WL7CPA3BRX5", After:=ActiveCell, LookIn:=xlFormulas, _
LookAt:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlNext, _
MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:=False).Activate
Range("M1204").Select
Application.CutCopyMode = False
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "1"
Range("M1205").Select
ActiveWindow.ActivateNext
Range("P3").Select

A:Solved: Macro in Excel help! Using CTRL+V inside a CTRL+F

Macro recorder only record specific actions, not generic actions.
So you can't use it to repeat the steps for other cells.
You have to code it specifically in VBA.

As for your case you can have a lookup formula in column M of the Master list to do the check.

eg in cell M12 of List B, type
=COUNTIF('
[List A.xlsm]Sheet1'!A:A,A12)

this goes to your List A first column to count the number of instances the value in cell A12 occurs.
Assuming there is no duplicate, the result is either 1 if found or 0 if not found.

If there are more than one instances in List A, the formula can be adapted to
=(COUNTIF('
[List A.xlsm]Sheet1'!A:A,A12)>0)*1

*1 will ensure that the result which is True or False becomes 1 or 0.

When I hit ctrl+alt+del, the screen just gets a light blue sheen over it until I click and then it's gone with no sign of the task manager. Also in firefox I cannot use the ctrl keys. Hi... I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 on my Dell Inspiron 1720 with a tricked out Firefox 3 with a bunch of extensions, and all of a sudden today I started notice that Ctrl + S and Ctrl + F, 2 keyboard shortcuts that I use ALL THE TIME, are no longer working in ANY APPLICATION. The F and Control keys are working fine separately and other common shortcuts such as Ctrl + C, V, A, O, and P are working just fine.

I've tried it in Firefox, Internet Explorer, Notepad, Paint and Dreamweaver and Ctrl + S and Ctrl + F don't work in either one of those applications. The weird thing is without doing much of anything, it was working at some point today after I had noticed it WASN'T working, but now I rebooted for another reason and those 2 shortcuts are not working again.

By the way, I went into Vista's Ease of Access center (previously called Accessibility I believe), and everything is turned off.

And I also tried the control key to the right of my keyboard. None of it works.

Very annoying... Anyone got any ideas or know of any app that will help me find out what the problem is?

Thank you very much in advance, any help's appreciated

The XPS 15-9530 keyboard requires that you hold the Function key to do home/end (Function+Left is Home and Function+Right is End).  That works fine, but I have found that if Ctrl+Home and Ctrl+End are a bit finicky.  Specifically, the key order I have to press to do a Ctrl+Home is Ctrl then Function then Left.  If I do Function then Ctrl then Left, it only sends a Home and not a Ctrl+Home.  Is there any way to work around this?  It's a bit annoying to have my Ctrl+Home and Ctrl+End fail so often while I'm retraining myself.

My remote desktop session does not appear to be sending the ctrl+alt+left (CAL) or ctrl+alt+right (CAR) combinations to the target machine.

Yesterday everything worked fine. I installed Windows Vista Ultimate 64 and could successfully RD to my laptop machine, which is running XP Pro SP2. CAL and CAR worked.

Today I installed SP1 on the Vista machine. Now my RD won't sent CAL or CAR.

I downloaded a simple keyboard tester application and installed it on both machines. Locally on the Vista machine, CAL and CAR are detected. Same thing locally on the XP machine. When I RD from Vista to XP and try the keyboard test the program shoes that it is receiving the CTRL+ALT combination but doesn't register when I hit the left or right arrow key at the same time. Interestingly, the up and down arrows *do* register.

I tried the RD connection from XP to Vista. Everything works normally. I tried an RD connection from another XP SP2 machine to my laptop. It works.

Any ideas? Is there some sort of key binding in Vista that takes the CAL and CAR combinations before RD can get them? Is RD in Vista 64 filtering them out for some reason?

Thanks
Kevan

Hello

Does anyone know of a way to restore the facility to use the ctrl key to highlight different areas of text in MS Word?

On my old computer I used to be able to use the ctrl key for a pretty nifty trick. I was able to highlight an area of text, then hold down ctrl key, and use the mouse to highlight another word or paragraph. By holding down ctrl key I was able to highlight several areas of text, then use commands on the whol lot such as delete, cut, copy etc.

For some reason the PC I am using now doesn't allow the same thing. If you highlight text, then try to highlight another area and hold down ctrl, it also highlights all the text between those points, highlighting a massive block of text.

Very frustrating - any solutions.....?

Ok - 1st off. Lately my PC has been lagging abit. I went into Ctrl+Alt+Del and found 2 proggies that I didnt really no what they were. One was CML or something like that. The other was something to do with Desktop. So I "End Task"ed them. I then got an error message saying along the lines of BlackWeb has an error and must close. Im guessing blackweb isn't good... anyway, a few days ago, on pressing Ctrl + Alt +Del, the box appeared but then minimized. I could see the green little box (like normal) next to the clock. On trying to click this it jsut dissapeared. But now Ctrl + Alt + Del doesn't doing anything! Basicly I need help on BlackWeb and Ctrl Alt Del.

When I do ctrl alt delete I get just a list of processes and nothing else. I don't know when this changed but I have tried to right click hoping to get a list that will let me have my regular task manager back but there is nothing.
I have winxp
Any ideas what I did and how I get my task manager back

TY

A:ctrl alt delete

Its gone into "tiny footprint mode"

Double click on a blank part of the processes window frame. That toggles it between modes

I have a laptop computer that used to be part of a LAN but no longer is part of that network.
The OS is XP Professional.
On boot up it displays the screen "press CTRL+Alt+Delete to logon" Then asks for user name, password, and domain. I can log on as administrator only for the computer, not the other domains (there are 3 listed - I have no idea what they mean).
I would Like to eliminate this logon and return to the user screen with no log on needed.
Can this be done?

A:Ctrl + Alt + Delete For Log On

Click Start>Control Panel>User Accounts.
Click the "Advanced" tab.
In the "Secure logon" section, clear the "Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete" check box.

You can try another keyboard to see if the keyboard you had is going bad.

You can try uninstalling your keyboard and reboot you machine and let windows find and install it again

You can try this

1.get hijack this
2. run scan
3. look for anything close to this O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{78B44176-C987-40AA-B09
4. it shoud be the same all the way to this^ point (the numbers may be diffrent
5.check mark it
6.hit fix checked
7.close hijackthis
8.restart
9. press control alt delete

or

put in your xp disk and go to start>run>type sfc /scannow

or

if none of those work try a virus scan.

Ok, so everything was working just fine until I went to fire up my laptop this morning. At the welcome screen, it requires me to use Ctrl alt delete to log on. When I press this, it is completely unresponsive. I have rebooted many times, still same result. I have also tried going into safe mode, and that too requires me to use ctrl alt delete to log on. I have been scouring forums and websites, and I cannot find the solution. Please help!!!

Using Windows XP Professional.

all i can suggest to u is that maybe something has failed or is failing like a harddrive or motherboard. its also very possible the operating system might have gotten corrupted in some way.that thinkpad im guessing is fairly new. do u know if its still under any kind of warranty?maybe it can be fixed that way.i have several thinkpads and ideapads so im very familiar with ibm/lenovo computers.hope this helps.

Before, when i pressed Ctrl+Alt+Delete, it gave me a completely new screen, where I would have choices like log off, change password, etc. However, now i just get the task manager when i press Ctrl+Alt+Delete. I remember seeing an option to change this somewhere, but i cannot recall from my memory. Any tips?

Hi there

I'm running windows XP SP2

When I press Ctrl / Alt / Delete the system displays a message saying "Task manager has been disabled by your administrator". I have a stand alone PC - not connected to a network so I'm guessing that a rogue piece of software has done this. Can anyone advise me what to do ?

thanks

For some reason when I press Ctrl+Alt+Delete it brings up like, a chart that shows me how much internet connection is being used (kind of like a heart monitor in a hospital lol) and I dont know why it is doing that. I cannot get the task bar up and I dont know how I made it that way or if I pressed anything by accident? Does anyone know how to get it back to normal?

Thank you!

Hi, I have a new Lenovo SL500 with XP PRO.
When I purchased the computer, I was able to start the computer, go directly to the desktop where I would dble click the IE icon to get "open home page." That was it to get on the internet. Now when I start the computer I get a message from Windows that says that I have to use CTRL ALT DELETE to get to the Administrator log on. then anothe box comes up that already has my name in the username space. Without putting in a password, I hit the "Enter" button and I get the desktop so that I can click on the IE icon to go to my homepage.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

A:Using CTRL ALT DELETE to log on-

Go to Start...Run...and type in "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes) and press Enter
In the window that opens, remove the checkmark from the box that says something about "users must enter a username and password...."
Click on OK to close the dialog (you may get a password prompt then).
