Hello Everyone,

Sorry if this has been answered before but I did not come across it. Anyways, I am using Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 and I am new at using this product.

We have messenger APP called SLACK and it is being blocked by KASPERSKY. I have added programs into the trusted location already but SLACK is not in the usual program location. The Slack app stores data in both %LocalAppData% and %AppData%. So what path am I using for the app location? Is it %ALLUSERSPROFILE%Application Data\Roaming\Slack? Or something entirely different.

Thanks for the help!!!

A:Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10

Determining whether a file is malware or a legitimate process usually depends on the location (path) it is running from and the user profile %AppData%, %LocalAppData%, %ProgramData%, and %Temp% folders are common hiding places for malicious files. If a software vendor is utilizing one of these areas, then you might want to check with them for a solution since it most likely has already been reported.

Good day,

I'm a new member on this forum.
It's great to see such a busy and active tech forum.

Anyway, off to business. Does anyone possibly know when Kaspersky, if at all, will be releasing a new version of their Endpoint Security for Windows 10?

The current version, although released in 2015 does not support Windows 10 and fails to install.
This was tested in a domain environment with Windows 10 Professional.

Thank you,

Evening everyone, well it's very early morning here in the UK.

My mate was using Bitdefender GravityZone for his business (trial) but I pointed out the comments made by people on this forum, with advanced knowledge of security software and he has changed to Kaspersky Endpoint Select. Plus, he actually brought something, well 50 seats, for over 1000, and lucky me I have it installed on my system (how lucky am I), okay may be not that lucky. What's your thoughts on Kaspersky Endpoint, does it offer excellent protection or not?

Tony

Hi, really sorry if this is the wrong place or the wrong kind of forum to ask these kind of questions (alot of you guys seem like pros haha)

My Kaspersky AV licence is up and i'm looking at buying Total Security for another year and saw on Kaspersky website this new software they are calling Kaspersky Security cloud. The page for my knowledge is a little vague and it just looks kind of like Total Security repackaged.

Is there any crucial differences in KTS and this new Security cloud that would benefit me buying that instead?

Thanks for your time

A:Kaspersky Total Security or Kaspersky Security Cloud

Are you referring to Endpoint Security Cloud? If so it's for business customers only. If you're referring to something else could you please link to it.

If you're happy with KTS then I see no reason why you shouldn't renew it.

I am not going to install IM & Mail protection.

I can safely avoid "Kaspersky Security Center Connector" & "Vulnerability Monitor" too i.e not install it, right? Or it will affect protection?

In the Custom Install screenshot on the webpage below 2nd option is the "Kaspersky Security Center Connector" mentioned above, right?

A:Kaspersky Endpoint Security Custom Install Info needed

@yesnoo : Why you will install Endpoint Security when you can try the home version of Kaspersky?

Anyway Kaspersky Security Center Connector is more related on the server connection which primarily use on business/enterprise to connect into single host. [seems technical on the word description] Link .

It will not affect the protection, same goes to Vulnerability Monitor since its just check for your installed application on latest version.

Kaspersky Lab Presents a New Version of Kaspersky Small Office Security to Reflect Modern Needs of Small Business
Kaspersky Lab announces its latest edition of the Kaspersky Small Office Security, the company?s security solution built specifically for businesses with fewer than 25 employees. This solution provides world-class protection and easy use without the need for specialist IT skills. New features make it easier to focus valuable resources on running and developing the business while keeping operations, customer?s and employee?s data secure.

Nowadays, small businesses are frequently becoming prey for cybercriminals because they generally pay less attention for cybersecurity while housing increasingly valuable data. According to recent survey results, the share of companies that allow usage of personal employee?s devices within the corporate network has grown to 62% in 2014. At the same time, although businesses realize that customer?s personal information (25%), payment requisites (13%) and trade secrets (12%) are among top priorities of their information security needs, they keep taking very basic protective measures, relying, for example, on free anti-malware products. Respondents indicated that they desire a powerful, but simple and easy-to-use security solution that would come at an affordable price.

Kaspersky Small Office Security is equipped with enterprise-grade technologies, but it was designed specifically to serve the needs of very small bu... Read more

Is it a bug or bug on Windows 10 64 or bug in KIS 2017 or ............?

Any info?

Any Kaspersky users experience the above?

A:Kaspersky Application Control - Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 bug?

Yes, this happens & not only in 2017 but in earlier versions as well.

I experience it as well, but not quite often as you are. Mine comes when i am disconnected from internet for a while & then connect again, then (i guess) KSN checks the app control rules again & places them (apps) as described in the KSN rule-set.

The problem come from the setting 'Load rule for applications from KSN' in application control, which is enabled by default.

This shouldn't be a problem if you are using default settings (Auto-mode) as Low restricted is basically Trusted in auto-mode. But if you use interactive mode, this causes a lot of prompts which can be quite annoying.

For fun I thought I would disable Vipre temporarily and install FortiClient Endpoint Security Suite. The Standard Edition is now free.

The install went fine, although it did seem to take a long time and I really didn't play with it too much simply because when looking at the running processes after having installed it, there were at least 6 of them for almost 100 MB...

So for those looking for a free solution out there, beware if you have a slower system or a limited amount of RAM. This certainly seemed like a lot to me.

In relation, currently on my system, Vipre has two processes for about 27 MB.

We have recently switched from Symantec to Sophos Endpoint Security 9.5. We have created our groups (depending on workstations, locations, servers, etc..) and each groups is assigned a respective policy for Scanning, Anti-Virus, HIPS, Firewall, Tamper Protection, and Updating.

Now, we want to utilize the Sophos firewall in conjuction to our Watchguard Firebox Firewall. However, when the firewall is enabled it blocks everything and we spend days (literally) adding exceptions for every little thing. (in-house Apps, Internet, Citrix, etc..) but we don't want to disable it (because we want to use it).

My question is this. Is anyone here Sophos certified or at least utilize a version of Sophos/Sophos Management Console? We are looking for a template (premade) that we can work off of(that comes with many corporate rules & allowances already added)that differs from the built-in default template we're currently using. We did plan on justs deploying to my workstation and noting the manual adds but like I stated earlier it was 2 days and I was still adding them continuosly.

Any help would be appreciated.

Source: Security Advisories Relating to Symantec Products - Symantec Endpoint Protection Multiple Security Issues - 2016-03-17T03:00:00 PDT | Symantec

Overview

Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) was susceptible to a number of security findings that could potentially result in an authorized but less privileged user gaining elevated access to the Management Console. SEP Client security mitigations can potentially be bypassed allowing arbitrary code execution on a targeted client.

Details

The management console for SEPM contained a cross-site request forgery vulnerability that was the result of an insufficient security check in SEPM. An authorized but less-privileged user could potentially include arbitrary code in authorized logging scripts. When submitted to SEPM, successful execution could possibly result in the user gaining unauthorized elevated access to the SEPM management console with application privileges.

There was a SQL injection found in SEPM that could have allowed an authorized but less-privileged SEPM operator to potentially elevate access to administrative level on the application.

The sysplant driver is loaded as part of the Application and Device Control (ADC) component on a SEP client if ADC is installed and enabled on the client. A previous security update to this driver did not sufficiently validate or protect against external input. Successfully bypassing security controls could potentially result in targeted arbitrary code execution on a client syst... Read more

Things seemed fine, but I've been having a ton of problems with Google Redirect Trojans (another post in another forum...sigh), so I figured the outdated firewall/antivirus defs needed to go So I uninstalled SEP..TWICE, actually; first using a Symantec instruction doc on how to do it via erasing Registry entries. But I noticed the firewall was still active, so I dug deeper & actually got ahold of the current Norton CleanWipe, and that seemed to really get rid of EVERYTHING relating to Endpoint, including Live Update (which I imagine the firewall would need to stay current).I then loaded Avast...it's working great...but I noticed it doesn't have a firewall. I have Iolo System Mechanic Pro, and during a scan it said that it detected that Endpoint Firewall was active & 'protecting' me. But when I try to remove it via Add/Remove Programs (I tried "Modify" and "Remove"), the removal process seems to work, but then it rolls-back the process & says there was a fatal error in the installation (removal, actually). A:[Behavior Blocker] Norton Security vs Kaspersky Internet Security 2016

As for Kaspersky, I have not used it since about 2009 when it was Kaspersky PURE so I cannot really comment. But as for Norton, it blocks unknown files it doesn't have a HIPS as such but any program being stupid of trying to access websites and files they shouldn't get blocked by SONAR their zero-day and zero-hour malware component.

Earlier I was using Bitdefender and thought Bitdefender was the number 1 and Kaspersky is the number 2. But After coming to this forum I realized that the reality is completely different! Some products have trouble working with Windows 10, some have trouble protecting 64bit systems. I did some digging and settled with two products. Kaspersky and ESET. Im using a Windows 10 64 bit system. What product might be the best for such a setup?

A:ESET Smart Security 9 vs Kaspersky Internet Security 2016 for Win 10 64bit

For purely protection basis you may go to ESET SS 9 as you can tweak the HIPS for protection and their Sandbox (Banking) + so far the architecture (x64) isn't affected from performance.

KIS 2016 is a promising suite, however until now limited components working from prevention due to Windows 10 environment which the developers make a note to fix those issues; but overall a balance concept where you can tweak more from numerous components.

Somehow the system impact tends to be consistent as light for ESET than Kaspersky.

Still brace yourself to see those possible unique characteristics.

I am looking for some help and advice from my fellow forum members. I'm currently using Zone Alarm Internet Security and it's due to expire in 30 days. I've been thinking about changing to either Kaspersky Internet Security or ESET Smart Security for a number of reasons.

Firstly, both products seem to offer excellent independent anti virus products. Secondly, I prefer whole integrated suites and I know one of the criticisms is the large memory and CPU consumption that they use. However, these two products seem to have a relatively small memory footprint.

I was just wondering if anybody had used either of these products and how they found them.

Although Norton (Symantec) is as good as any other well known anti-virus program, it is costly, requires numerous services and running processes that consume system resources and often results in complaints of high CPU usage. Anti-virus software components insert themselves deep into the operating systems core where they install kernel mode drivers that load at boot-up and create files/folders/registry entries in various locations.I have read from other users that Norton has made improvements in newer versions of their software so they are not as resource heavy as past versions...while others still say differently. Have been persuaded to use Kaspersky and am awaiting download. Do I have to remove Sec Essentials before installing Kasp ?

A:MS Security Essential and Kaspersky Internet Security 2014

Yes, it's better to remove any other antivirus prior to install a new one. Reason is that two active antivirus scanning the system at the same time may conflict between them and unnecessarily slow down your system.

Always have only one antivirus doing on-access system scanning. Keeping MSE or anything else just for on-demand scans is fine.
