error code 10 when installing Realtek AC'97 and Conexant AC-Link on Gateway 6520GZ

Q: error code 10 when installing Realtek AC'97 and Conexant AC-Link on Gateway 6520GZ

I have been trying to help my friend reinstall Windows XP on his Gateway 6520GZ and after a full reformat and reinstall the sound is not working. I first tried downloading all of the support drivers from the Gateway website, but no luck there. I have been searching on all sorts of forums and found several different solutions that other people found that did not work.

I have tried multiple Realtek AC'97 codecs (WDM_A404 and WDM_R186) which were both suggested on one forum or another. I believe that the computer has a realtek chip from what I could find, but I'm not positive. One of these actually installed, but the problem is that when I try to install the Conexant AC-Link Audio driver (Conexant_Audio_6.14.10.0565) I get a message saying that the device cannot start [code 10]. Currently in the device manager I can see the "Realtek AC'97 Audio" driver, but there is an exclamation point next to it. I am at a complete loss at this point and open to any help I can get. Anything would really be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much,

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

try this driver. I know it doesn't say it's for that particular model, but it is the correct driver though. I got the info from a tech at gateway.

Seems like similar problems between Windows & and Linux which had big issues with audio and hibernate/stand-bye

My Vista upgrade is in the post so i ran the Upgrade advisor to double check anything else i have to do.

In the devices section i have 3 devices which they can find no info.

Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
Intel? 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller
Conexant High Definition Audio

I googled all three of these but all the drivers i was pointed to were for XP.

Im not sure what i have to do?

Do i have to find the necessary things before i install Vista?

A:Conexant, Intel, Realtek

Are you going to do an upgrade?
I wouldn't do any upgrade. It makes everything slower. A clean install would be good.
If you don't want to, then, are you looking for drivers? All those things should be fine.

I'm running x86 on a Gateway 7320GZ. After upgrading to 7 I have no sound. There doesn't appear to be any problem with the drivers etc...in fact, when i click on the speaker I can see the volume bars moving...but I have no sound.

I've followed other posts and tried installing the appropriate Gateway driver package using compatibilty mode...no dice. I've tried installing the drivers recommended by Windows Update Catalog (the drivers were found after entering the PCI info) but that didn't work either. I've tried manually installing the Vista drivers.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

I'm running windows 10 on an HP Omen and after most recent windows update, my computers internal speakers are unavailable, as are any wired connected audio devices. Sound icon says no speakers or headphones are plugged in. Device manager, under sound, video, and game controllers does not show realtek HD audio. This only appears when I go to view and select show hidden devices. Then, under properties, I can see Code 45 (hardware device not connected. To fix, reconnect). I have attempted driver fixes including driver version Troubleshooters for audio detected nothing. I have tried rolling back the windows update.

I cannot find any sites that recommend steps beyond checking driver for the device. I've also tried calling HP tech support twice, and both times representatives told me they needed more time to find a solution (which they have failed to do).

Anyone who has dealt with this issue or has thoughts, any advice appreciated.

Hey guys! This is my first post and I hope I can get some help!
A few days ago, I set up my desktop and installed a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro. Of course, I had to get all my drivers manually, and I did. Everything was all fine and dandy until I realised that I had no sound. so searching I went until I found the driver I needed: Realtek AC'97 Audio. So I restarted and figured I would have sound. That was not the case. So I went into Device Manager and found a black exclaimation mark in a yellow bubble on my sound driver. I right-clicked it and went to "Properties". In the text box it said: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"! I cannot seem to fix this issue! I went to RealTek and downloaded them. I went to Asus but could not find the drivers for my model (I am not 100% certain but I think I have a Pundit-S)

Welcome to Seven Forums
You might want to put the driver on your desktop>unzip if needed>go to your device manager>update driver software>browse my computer>let me pick> have disk>browse to the file>click or double click the .inf file and see if it will install that way. Some times it will work other times it won't, it seems like it may just be one of those driver problems that Conexant hasn't worked out completely yet.

what's wrong? Can you guys please tell me what to do?
thnx. I cant really watch videos nor play music files.

Thanks again.

A:Realtek AC'97 audio controller not working -- error (code 10)

Apart from the audio driver, it is critical to have the right chipset driver installed. The VIA southbridge needs to work properly to interface with the vinyl audio processor.
So try installing the chipset driver first, and then the audio driver. And of course make sure all MS updates are installed, including the MS UAA driver.

No sound?

Try the simple things first. Speakers on and working? Plug them into a MP3 player, test that they actually amplify. Speaker plug in the correct socket in the PC? ( I mean not the Mic socket?) Have you looked in 'Device Manager' for a yellow warning by the entry for your sound option? Assume you know all the above, it's most likely still to be the wrong drivers. Go into 'Device Manager' and uninstall any sound drivers. Then go to www.drivereasy.com and download their free program, scan your PC and you will get the right driver I would think. You might also find a few other drivers out of date too. And NO it doesn't cost you to use that program. Hope this helps.

A few days ago, my sound just stopped working. I checked Device Manager, which told me Conexant AC-Link Audio could not start (code 10.) I tried uninstalling/reinstalling and reinstalling the drivers from HP's website, but I kept getting a bunch of other errors, like the drivers not installing or the device apparently not being configured correctly. No matter what I do, it just won't work. Any advice? Do I need to provide any more information?

OK, so after all the fuss with my HP ze4325us Laptop, and being so excited to get the video finally working, I've now been stumped by the audio drivers. According to the driver title on the website, it's a Conexant AC-Link Audio setup. I've scoured these forums and downloaded a couple of drivers, to no avail. Any thoughts on this one?

It's not a dealbreaker if I can't get this working, but it would definitely be nice. 7 runs better then XP on this old machine. It's like bringing a dinosaur back to life!

Hope someone can help me out with my audio problems...

I have an ASUS A54C laptop less than a month old.
-Windows 7, service pack 1.
64 bit.

About a week ago Asus live update automatically installed some updates (I didn't realise I could disable auto update, still getting used to this laptop)
when it restarted a few errors kept popping up and the webcam was not working. After googling I came across forum posts saying you have to manually download the drivers from the website. After doing that the webcam software showed a message "no audio device found" I thought ok, no problem I'll just re-install the audio driver (I had done this a few weeks previously because the built in mic was acting up).

The first half of installation completed, laptop restarted but then gave me the following error when trying to complete the second half:

Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure !!
[Error Code: 0x00000002]

Things I've already tried:
-I have tried several times to install the audio driver
-Tried installing different versions
- downloading directly from realtek
-System restore a couple times but it failed.
-Updated the BIOS (although I have no idea what this actually does)

I don't know what else to do.
Please help!

A:Conexant ac-link audio drivers for WIN 7 32bit not working

There are many instances of XP sound hardware not compatible/working in Vista/Win 7. Vista/Win 7/Win 8 handle some sound functions differently and the reason XP drivers do not work, or work properly. If there are no Vista/Win 7 specific drivers you will have to use a separate, Win 7 compatible sound device, such as a USB sound "card".

If the sound device was Win 7 compatible, Windows would have installed the generic, basic function, High Definition Audio Codec. As this apparently did not happen, that says the device is not Win 7 compatible.

I'm trying to do one of the following to a Compaq 2140US Laptop:

1. Install Vista, which works great. Everything runs fine but I can't find Vista Drivers for a CPT2990 Conexant AC-Link Audio card.

2. Install XP Home. It will not go past 39 minutes. I've read all sorts of forums about a hardware driver error and I can't find out what it is. I've disabled most of the hardware that I can in BIOS, I don't have anything plugged into it (printers, USB, ect). It just won't pass 39 mins. Vista installs just fine so I went that route, but you see my problem above. I've also tried every XP install CD. The 1st edition with no SPs. CD w/ SP1, SP2, SP3 (all got stuck at 39 mins).

I've searched Google like nuts for the drivers. If anyone knows any other drivers I should try let me know please. I'd like to keep Vista on there, but sound is very important for the user. If I could get XP to install I'd do that instead because it will run a bit faster on this older laptop and have sound!

Thanks in advance!

Hello guys,

I got a computer running Windows XP (SP3) with Intel motherboard (D915GEV). I currently have working sounds but I cannot use the "Stereo Mix" function to record what I hear through the speakers. I only get a short static noise every couple of seconds.

Looking in Add/Remove Programs I see these two sound drivers:
*High Definition Audio Driver Package - KB888111 (probably responsible for the working sounds)
*Realtek High Definition Audio Driver (that I see no evidence of being installed apart from the existence of Realtek folder inside "Program Files".

This is what I see in Device Manager menu (only the Microsoft UAA driver appears, no Realtek whatsoever):
Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting

Plus, in the past the PC used to have AC'97 driver installed as well but I unistalled it months ago.
I tried to remove the Realtek driver but I get this annoying error:
Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting
I also get the same error whenever I try to launch a newer version of Realtek HD Audio driver installer, or even execute the AC'97 driver installer.

I created another (second) admin account and the uninstallation worked as it should, but back to my current account it is still present under Add/Remove Programs.

Is my Registry corrupted? Or is this about User permissions not set right?
Thank you

A:Error uninstalling/installing Realtek audio drivers

The Microsoft driver showed Realtek at the end. So you uninstalled the Microsoft/Realtek driver that was downloaded from Windows Update automatically. And the original AC97 Reatek driver is still on your computer. To reinstall it, download it from the Intel Website: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...ng&ProdId=1674

Hope somebody can help me with this issue. I have a Samsung X120 laptop and I needed to install a new Hard disk as the original was playing up. So I cloned a new 500 gb W/D H/D and it worked perfectly, all except WLM which now comes up with an error code 0x8E5E0247 corrupt calendar. I've checked and it would appear to be an Intel problem or so the forums tell me, so I've tried downloading Intel Rapid Storage Technology Software but it's still coming up with the same error. I'm not sure if I've installed the patch properly so can anyone tell me if I've got the right fix or if they know how I can resolve this problem. I know a little about PC's so a step by step would be a great help or whether removing WLM will cure it on a reinstall. Any help greatly appreciated.

Just checking but is there no one who can help me with this problem?

Before I start can I please say I am not a techy person, so you might have to be patient with me lol!

I have an old laptop from an ex employee and thought I would see if it would work. There is 2 Versions of XP installed on it - Pro and Home Edition

When I boot the computer it ask's me which one I would like to use.

If I choose Pro - It does not load and I just get a black screen

If I choose Home - Windows loads but then I get a wizard box saying new hardware found, and ask is I want to use windows to search for software - I agree to this but nothing is found.

I thought that it would then be easier to just reload Windows XP Home Edition and start again.

When I insert the disc, it asks to press any key to boot from cd, then it starts to check the computer for setup and I get the following error message:

File i386 l_ints.nls could not be loaded, This is error code 7

Can someone please help me and tell me what I need to do????

The Laptop is a Dell Latitude D610.

Thanks x x

You might look this up at google. I found some info not at the microsoft page anymore but under the "cached" section of the search results. I tried to link to it but it kept coming up wrong for some reason, no matter how I tried to go about it.

So I installed windows 8 but I didn't like it so much, no problem so far.
But then a few days ago my laptop freezed during the bootup and when i turned it on it was like an half an hour to start and then when I got into the dekstop everything was running so slow! You couldn't even open textpad or something. So I stopped my downloaded windows 7 installation cd into my laptop and did everything till i came to the partitions. There (as I read) deleted all the partitions and made 2 new ones( 1 for windows and 1 for games and so on. Then I click on next and i get a error code: something like : couldn't format the hard drive. error code 0x8007005
I tried the DISK PART thing and nothing other happened.
I tried to do in the BIOS from IDE to AHCI and backwards, nothing worked.

What am I supposed to do now?
Thanks in advance!
(sorry for bad grammar if there is any, I'm from Holland)

My relatively new seagate harddrive failed on me last week so I requested a replacement. It arrived (refurbished model..) and upon putting it in and trying to install Windows, the following occurs.

After selecting custom install windows attempts to copy files. It hangs at 0% for 10-15 minutes and then spits out an error message stating "Windows could not format a partition on disk 0. The error occurred while preparing the partition selected for installation. Error code: 0x80070057".

And then I notice a new 100 mb partition appears. I cannot get by this step. I cannot install windows onto this harddrive. I've done some searching but most solutions require being able to boot into a functioning version of windows, which I cannot as the drive is "new".

The motherboard is an Asrock B75M running Uefi bios
The attempted install of windows is Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
The harddrive is a Seagate 1TB drive

I have Windows Vista Ultimate x64 edition. When i try installing SP1 i keep coming up with the same error code. I've checked to see if my computer installed SP1 on its own and it hasn't. I've received this code before not being able to install other updates as well. i obviously went to microsofts website to find out what the error code entailed and to see if there was a solution. according to microsoft my Windows Moduler Installer is out of date and needs to be update and that by simply using Windows Update it will update the moduler. I'm finding a problem with that. My updater runs every day. I even manually run it sometimes. According to my updater there are no updates available well minus the 33 language packs. I've got it set to receive all updates windows and non-windows alike. I've even tried installing the language packs but i get the same error. Any help how to solve this would be great.

Im getting this error code 800736B3. Can anyone help me.

A:error code 800736B3 installing SP1

Put the win7 disc in and choose upgrade then after that it will restart.

After you have acepted the upgrade it will allow you to install the sp1 .

Once win7 has upgraded ,but still keeping your system in tact ,will start the whole update process. After about a hour or two of updates it will install sp1 with no issue .

Also if you are useing a highend gaming card virus protect etc it might keep it from installing as well

I cannot download Windows 7 SP1 from the .iso or through the updater. I have ran the system readiness tool and it discovered 96 errors that could not be repaired. How do I fix the errors? I am able to install other updates, just not this Windows 7 SP1 update on a PC running Windows 7 Home Premium x64.

A:Code 2 error for installing Win 7 SP1 update

You have some major problems, I suspect.
Here's the summary from your CheckSUR log...

Seconds executed: 5478
Found 96 errors
CBS MUM Missing Total count: 96
Ordinarily, this number may not present a problem, but in your case, the files involved are all from the original RTM install of Windows, and not from updates. They are all also the Spanish MUI files.
This makes me wonder whether you have used a hack to install Language packs outside the license terms.

Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

hi I get an error code 0x80070037 when trying to installing windows 7 any ideas? I used another windows disc still get the error help

A:help getting error code when installing windows 7

There's some sort of hardware issue occurring. The error means that the device (i.e. storage device) is no longer available. Is this a new system or hard drive? You may want to try disconnecting the hard drive power/data cables from both motherboard and drive ends and reconnect them.

Also it might happen if your motherboard or whatever RAID card you have installed needs drivers to read storage drives connected too it. To do that you will need to have a USB available with the drivers or have them slipstreamed on the Windows 7 disc, then when setting up drive to install Windows click the "Load drivers" button and find and load them from there.
