Upgrade DDR4 Memory from 8 to 16 - Specs for built in memory

Q: Upgrade DDR4 Memory from 8 to 16 - Specs for built in memory

I plan to upgrade my built in 8 GB memory to 16 GB. I know its DDR4-2400 SDRAM. Does any similar module fit or do I need to consider latency etc. .?I cannot find any more detail on the built in memory.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Adding memory: is "system specific" memory worth it? (Kingston DDR4) I have a recent P50, and want to add more memory to it. I'm planning to go with Kingston. I've heard it's better to avoid "Value" memory. But I'm a bit stuck on which of the different Kingston lines to go with beyond that. Is there any real difference in getting the "system specific" memory, as opposed to, say, the HyperX? Do Lenovo laptops tend to do ok with the Kingston HyperX? Specifically, the "system specific" memory I was looking at is: Kingston 16GB 260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) System Specific Memory Model, KCP421SD8/16 And the "gamer targeted" memory I was looking at is: HyperX Impact 16GB 260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) Laptop Memory Model HX421S13IB/16 Kingston has a memory finder tool on their site, which points to the System Specific memory. However, I called them and they said this particular HyperX should work too. I'm sure this is not a novel observation, but I was surprised to find that the "system specific" memory is more expensive than the gamer-targeted HyperX. (At least, once you take into account that those go on sale more often.) I'd in theory rather go with the HyperX because it claims to be fast, etc. On the other hand, there is in theory some appeal to the idea that the System Specific is guaranteeing compatibility. On the other hand, it'd suck to buy the System Specific and find out it's basically just the same thing as, say, Va... Read more

I would like to increase the memory on my Son's computer, an ASPIRE E 15 (E5-575-51EF) that has a I5-7200U motherboard and a 8 GB DDR 4 RAM memory. The video card is a GeForce 940 MX 2 GB VRAM.

Here are my 2 questions:

1. The computer has two memory slots, can I combine an 8 GB DDR4 memory by inserting a 16 GB DDR4 memory into the second slot?

2. Will this increased memory significantly increase the computers gaming experience playing counterstrike and other online games?

I am not sure if it is worth the $250 investment so a quick reply would be great.

Hello,I got a new laptop HP Probook 440 G4 that came with one 8 GB RAM memory module 2400 MHz CL17 1.2V 260pin SODIMM from Samsung. It has Intel i5 7200 CPU.I was expecting it to come with one 8 GB RAM 2133 MHz memory module, based on their description when I made the order, so I prepared another (my) 8 GB 2133 MHz module to add it to the laptop when it arrives.Would you please help me with a couple of questions, so I can see what options are available to me? 1. Can I mix one  DDR4 8GB 2400MHz CL17 module with one DDR4 8GB 2133MHz CL16 module to make total 16GB RAM? 2. Is it better if I mix one 2400MHz CL17 8GB module with another 2400MHz 8GB but with CL16 ? 3. Can this HP Probook 440 G4 with i5 7200u CPU support 32GB RAM (2 modules of 16GB DDR4 2400MHz CL14 or CL17)? During my work I often run a couple of virtual VBOX machines on my laptop, where each virtual machine uses 8GB of RAM, so having 32GB RAM on the laptop would be useful. Thank you,Buki

A:Mix DDR4 memory 2133 MHz and 2400 MHz RAM modules

Hi Buki,Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05269107According to MSG, it comes with PC4-17000, 2133MHz, DDR4 SODIMMs8-GB , HP part number 820570-001http://partsurfer.hp.com/ShowPhoto.aspx?partnumber=820570-001Both the RAMs are DDR4 1.2V 260-pin SO-DIMM SDRAM.If it is currently harbouring 2400MHz , it down clocks to 2133MHz i.e., configured speed. Latency is nothing to be worried about (CL17, CL14).Page 2, max 16gb is what is listed.Get module with exact specs, voltage, configuration as listed in the manual. It is guaranteed to work.By mixing 2400MHz with 2133MHz, both will work in 2133MHz dual channel mode.Go through page 36, 37 in manual for instructions.RegardsVisruth

After receiving my T470 I added a 16GB stick of Crucial DDR4 memory and noticed it gets hot while the laptop is suspended; battery usage while suspended is also quite high. I tried this stick alone in both slots and the same thing happens. Of course, with the stock Samsung RAM alone, this does not happen. It stays nice and cool when suspended. This happens with Windows and Linux, so I don't think its an OS issue. Any ideas? Thanks.

I was posting to a different thread but it appears to have died.  In fact, the last three posts were me posting to myself. I have a new P50 which shipped with a 500GB hard drive and 8GB of memory running Windows 10 Home.  I have "built it up" by adding a Samsung 950 Pro NVMe drive and 24GB of additional Corsair DDR4 2133 (PC1700) memory.  I'm fairly certain the final 8GB of memory I added works with the Samsung-installed memory which ships with the machine, and everything looks good in CPU-Z. Unfortunately the machine is extremely unstable.  I get various and frequent BSOD and the machine shuts down.  Generally it is some sort of memory error message but sometimes it is a different error message.  The machine shuts itself down and reboots.  It often does this from a standard Windows screen even when I am away from the machine.  Some boots are more "stable" than others and it lasts longer before crashing.  I am not positive the Samsung NVMe driver is installed because, when I go into Device Manager and right click to check the driver for the NVMe drive it reports the Microsoft driver.  (I have tried to install the new version 1.1 Samsung driver multiple times.) I'm not quite sure what to do next because I don't know what is wrong.  Lenovo has been of no help because they only want to support the machine as originally configured, i.e., with 8GB of memory and a 500GB hard drive.  I wouldn't have bought th... For video editing, this system is by far underpowered -- you really need a Precision mobile workstation or an Alienware system for that.  If you can't stretch that far, look for an XPS system with hybrid (intel-nvidia or Intel-AMD) video.
Neither the CPU nor the GPU in the Vostro will handle what you want it to do.

Hey guys,

Your notebook can handle with 4GB of RAM and I recommend you to use 2 x 2GB module.
Compatible 2 GB module has part number PA3513U-1M2G or Kingston KTT667D2/2G.

Put the part umber in Google and you will find a place where you can order it in your country.

Hello folks.

I recently built a new PC:
XFX R9 290
16gb DDR3 memory
GA-Z97X-Gaming 7 LGA 1150 ATX
OCZ arc 100 240gb hd
Antec 650W PSU.
Win7 64bit

I've been getting a lot of high memory usage. I currently have 5 Internet Explorer tabs open and the smallest tab is using 120MB of Memory while the biggest tab is using 330MB of Memory. These tabs are just simple web pages.

The problem is that it's made everything choppy/slow.

Gaming is very choppy and youtube videos are extremely choppy. I can't even watch simple youtube videos in 720 or 1080 because the quality is so choppy and grainy. What's even worse is that when watching a youtube video, the ram usage for this particular IE tab will skyrocket to 1gig of memory usage.

Even at idle, with nothing open or running, the ram usage is right around 3gb. With nothing open or running.

This is so pathetic. My older netbook runs youtube videos more flawlessly than this PC.

I've reinstalled the video drivers. I don't know what's wrong with this pc.

Ok, long and confusing story... I'm posting this all because I'm not sure what triggered the problem.

I have a HP workstation with 4 USB ports in the back, 2 in the front and an internal memory card reader that also has a single USB port. Windows 7 pro 32-bit.

I tried plugging in a new external HD to a USB port in the back of the machine. Nothing happened and it didn't show up in My Computer, same thing with one of the front USB ports. I thought it might be a problem with the HD, so I went into disk management, but it got stuck in "Connecting to virtual disk service" with nothing showing up, not even internal HD's. I unplugged the new HD, and now got into disk management fine, tried plugging it in again - nothing. I went into to device manager, and noticed there was an unknown USB device with a stop error. I figured I'd remove the device and let Windows re-detect it (not sure if this was smart?).

Then, I plugged the new HD again, and now it finally showed up. Now it works through any USB port, including the one on the card reader. However, now I can no longer read memory cards with it! I also noticed that the small LED on the reader stays lit even if there is nothing plugged in, I recall it should be lit only when something is connected.

I looked in device manager again, and again I have an unknown device under USB drivers with an error (code 43), but I have no idea if its the card-reader or what..?

Is there a way to reinstall the reader? or could it be br... Read more

A:Problem with built-in memory card reader and USB ports

Yes you sure can...go to HP's support website, dirver/downloads and input your make and model, OS type (32 or 64 bit) then drivers and download the latest card reader driver.

I believe the error was
x0000000007 (x00000000000,x000000000,x0000000000,x0000000000)

(the x's might be at the end of the numbers I can't remember).

I have a strong feeling the memory is to blame because it has crashes twice during prime95 testings (using torture test that heavily uses memory). It has also crashed while simply browsing the internet, and also while completely idle.

I am wondering if having 4GB of memory with windows xp pro (32-bit) would have anything to do with this. The BIOS properly reports 4096MB (4GB) of memory (I have memory remap on the NB enabled), but windows xp only reports 3.25GB.

The mushkin memory modules are NOT listed in my motherboard's memory manual as being 'verified' to work with the motherboard, but of course that doesn't mean that they shouldn't work

The memory I have is a pair of 2GB mushkin DDR800 modules. Here are the specifications below:

Brand mushkin
Model 996587
Type 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM
Tech Spec
Capacity 4GB (2 x 2GB)
Speed DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Cas Latency 5
Timing 5-4-4-12
Voltage 1.8V
Heat Spreader Yes

Here is the specs on the rest of the computer:
Thermaltake 750W PSU
Intel Q9550 Quad Core CPU (at stock speeds)
XIGMATEK rifle cpu cooler w/ 120mm fan
Asus Rampage Formula Motherboard
2x250GB Seagate Barricuda (7200rpm, 16mb cache) in RAID0
ATI HD4870 Video Card
Memory as listed above (at stocks settings).

I have done NO overclocking on anything whatsoever. All drivers are installed and ve... Read more

A:BSOD on brand newly built computer w/ 4GB memory

The mobo manual says it does not support memory made using 128MB chips which is what you have... so that may be the problem. Updating the BIOS may help (it would be nice if Asus website described exactly what the BIOS revisions do).

Has Windows XP professional on it.  Recntly, that is this morning, when I tried to boot up the computer, it goes past the splash screen and then gives me an error 'Windows NT has found only 500K of low memory.  512K of low memory is needed to run Windows NT.  You may need to upgrade your computer or run a configuration program provided by the manufacturer'
What does all this mean, and why did it happen suudenly and how do I fix it

A:Built computer shows 'Windows NT has found only 500K of low memory'

It has been suggested that you reset your BIOS to 'Default' values.

Just built a computer for gaming, everything pretty much highest spec parts, having trouble with a bluescreen error that keeps occuring. Its a memory dump error but everything is brand new, ram cost me $500 (running 12GB triple channel). Any ideas?

A:$6000 computer just built myself memory dump blue screening

Yes, first there is almost nothing you gave us for us to help you. Tell us the make of your hardware, motherboard, RAM, cpu, video card, harddrive, power supply, OS, and security software. Did you overclock? Did you check to see if the RAM you installed is compatible with your motherboard (and we're just not talking type and amount here)? Even though your motherboard may say it can run 12 gigs of memory is your current BIOS designed to do so? We need the details.

Second, when do these BSODs occur?

Third, do you have minidump files in your Minidump folder?

Fourth, have you tried running with less memory to see if it brings stability?
