Moniter display with white lines and blurry screen

Q: Moniter display with white lines and blurry screen

Hello,

My Sony Vaio recently started acting up. I've been using this laptop for a couple years now and works perfectly fine. All of a sudden, it started showing white line and blurry display whenever I turn on the computer. I have tried to "drain power battery" but didnt work. When I plug it with an external monitor, it works perfecly fine with that external monitor. I have tried to take out the RAM and clean it and put it back in, however doesn't seem to work. Is the RAM my problem? Maybe replacing a new RAM will fix it? I'm a student with a tight budget and cant afford to buy a new RAM without knowing if it work. I was wondering if you guys can come up with a solution. That would be appreciated. Thank you for your timing and have a nice day!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

a few times i've had the following problem put in a plug and play display adapter load the right moniter driver. moniter comes up plug and play moniter no problem! But when I put a older used svga moniter on even if I load that moniter/unown moniter or pulg and play moniter I get distorted unreadable screen. I put the newer moniter back on and set 640x480 thinking this is the problem even knowing that old moniter on a diferent pc was runing 16 mill colors and 800x600.
Still get wavey lines three distorted screens side by side.
Any help please.
regards Alan G

A:display adapter-moniter still shows lines/distorted screen

The monitor refresh rates are different in what they can support. Change the monitor type to SVGA @640x480 256 colors and it should work. What make and model is the newer monitor? And does it support the rrefresh rates and number of colors you are setting it to. No monitor will display more than it is physically capable of displaying.

I have an IdeaPad 710S 13" non-touch laptop that I've had for a little over a month.  Sometimes when I touch the lid/screen - for example, to move the laptop closer or adjust the tilt of the lid, or when opening the lid - the display distorts. Sometimes it is just this one vertical section of the screen (first image below, though sometimes the black areas are white) and other times it is the entire screen with vertical gray lines/sections (second and third pictures below).  I've updated the display driver but that didn't help. I think it happens only(?) when there's some pressure against the screen/lid.  Sometimes closing the lid and opening it back up fixes the issue, but other times I have to reboot to fix it.  Ideas on what's wrong and how to fix it?

Hi,

I have a problem with my computer's display. If I let the computer start up normally the display is fuzzy, full of horizontal lines and I am unable to make out anything on the screen. When I use safe mode the display is fine like nothing is wrong.
I'm running Vista Home Premium SP 2 on a dell studio 540. I'm using an hdtv as my monitor. It is attached to the hdmi port on my computer. I don't have another monitor that I can use.
This is what I was doing immediately before the problem started. I was running a live boot of Kali-Linux 1.06 but the display was cut off I couldn't see the full desktop. I was unable to shut down the computer because I couldn't see the shut down menu. I pressed the power button on the front of the computer to turn it off. When I turned the computer back on the BIOS screen appeared as usual but then the screen went blank and stayed blank. So I tried rebooting the computer a few times and a few hours later the screen started showing the fuzzy horizontal lines that I see now.
I did a system restore to the day before I ran Kali- Linux but it didn't do anything.
I reset the bios settings to factory default because I read that it might help but it didn't make a difference.

Thanks in advance

A:Fuzzy Blurry Display full of horizontal lines

If the problem doesn't reoccur in Safe Mode it would be your graphics driver.

When you boot into Safe Mode the graphics driver used isn't what you normally use, it is a driver which is native to the operating system.

I would suggest uninstalling the graphics driver, then download the driver from Dell Support.

The computer is a Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop Computer running Windows Vista.
Last night a small white line randomly appeared underneath the taskbar, bumping it up a millimeter and then it grew and covered the whole taskbar and parts above it as shown in the pictures (attatched).
This white line shakes a bit and reflects the actions of the mouse (Pic 2).

I restarted the computer to see if it would fix it but instead, i got a BSoD when the computer turned back on.

Can you please tell me the resolutions to this and if you need any further info ill post it.
Nick

A:Blurry/White horizontal line on display

If possible go ahead and send a crash dump over. Though honestly that looks like the backlight on the monitor has gone crazy, or perhaps a video problem, so the bsod may be unrelated. Still doesn't hurt to try.

At least from the pictures that looks like it's a physical light being emitted from the back (kinda like the monitor went bonkers there on the bottom) and less of a software predicament. Again though, best to test out software possibilities before considering it hardware.

Hello. Since a year ago I have been seeing white lines across the screen of my laptop. I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NR430E Laptop. The white lines/band running horizontally across the screen is not permanent, and goes off if point pressure is applied from the top coverside of the screen, or on the face of the screen.

The problem seems like a lose connection but one could not be found when the laptop was opened up.

Do note, that the LCD screen does work and does not go off or black when these white lines take over. Also the white lines are not constantly going across the screen and usually only last for a few seconds. Also when the laptop is hooked up to a TV via a VGA cable, the white horozontal lines do not show up on the TV even when they are on the computer.

A:Daily white lines across Sony VAIO laptop display

The LCD panel needs to be replaced. It probably got damaged by excessive pressure on the top of the closed laptop, one too many times

Hi,

Since yesterday I have been seeing white lines across the screen of my laptop. I have a Sony Vaio CR120E early 2008 model. The white lines/band running horizontally across the screen is not permanent, and goes off if point pressure is applied from the top coverside of the screen, or on the face of the screen.

I did , open my laptop monitor and checked the data connection to the screen and the power supply, and they both look ok, although still on applying pressure the white lines go on and off.

Now I am not sure, it is an issue with the ribbon of my monitor or whole LCD monitor. Do note, that the lcd monitor do works fine sometimes. Please advise.

Ritz.

Hey guys. The problem is that when I boot up my computer white lines appear all over the screen. It began happening after my computer crashed with white squares all over the screen. The white square crash happened before but all I had to do was restart my computer to fix it. Though this time the restart did not fix it. I've tried downloading new drivers but no luck. I have re-seated my graphics card but no luck. All the fans seem to be working. I also can't boot into normal mode as it crashes with the white squares after I get past the Windows XP loading screen. Though sometimes I can occasional get into Normal mode though the white lines are still all over the place. The white lines stay when I boot into Safe mode too. I have no idea what the problem is. I hope someone can help me.

Hi,
I just bought a new PC. It have two GPUs, one on I7 cpu and GeForce GTX970. After new installation of Windows 7 everything was ok. I have installed all drivers for the motherboard and for the GPU. I started to have problems, when I wanted to try to play any newer games. I installed DirectX drivers and some Windows Redistributable Packages before running the game. Just when the game menu should open, I lost signal on my monitor. I could here the sound, but there was no signal. So I have rebooted the PC.
Since then I have white horizontal lines across the screen. They appear from the beginning of the booting process. Also in BIOS.
I heared from my friend, that the cause can be possibly that, the game changed my resolution and refresh rate for HD (120+ HZ and high resolution), which my older (~5-6 years) monitor can't handle. So here are the thing which I tried to do for now:
- I uninstalled the drivers with software designed for this purpose, both in normal and in safe mode and installed them again. There was no difference. Even when there are no drivers, I get white lines.
- I downloaded drivers from nvidia website and installed them, but since then I get in normal mode not white lines, but big white squares (big white "pixels") and the screen freeze few seconds after logging in to windows. In safe mode I have white lines.
- I run the PC in low resolution mode. I have white lines or squares, but the screen don't freeze. However, it doesn't solve... Read more

If possible connect a Monitor to the laptop and see if that shows a display. You may have to use a key combination to switch the display to the monitor, usually the Fn/Function key and one of the F keys on the top row (look for an icon like a laptop and a monitor screen on one of those F keys, or just try them all).

What model Asus laptop is it ? (should be on a label underneath, please post the full model ID).

I have never seen a screen like this in the 20 years I've had my own computer.

I had Windows 8 on a secondary drive as a dual boot with Windows 7 temporarily as I migrated to Windows 8. I somehow messed up either the boot loader or somehow corrupted the Win8 install for which I'll skip the details for now. But it was just as I was starting to decommission my Win7 install (I removed one drive from the 2-drive mirror running Win7 but figuring the single disk left would still run in a 'degraded' status. It ended up messing something up.).

I've been running bootrec /fixmbr, fixboot, scanos, and rebuildBCD from my Win8 USB stick and it says it completed but no luck on booting. I get either 0xc0000001 or 0xc000021a errors. Auto repair can't fix it.

I tried running this command, "bcdboot c:\windows /s c:", and got the screen shown in the attachment. White vertical lines on an orange background.

The only drives connected is the Win8 SSD sata drive and a DVD drive on IDE. I disconnected the DVD drive and the Win8 flash screen would appear with the circular dots but would freeze right there.

I don't have logs or screenshots to show but the single partition on the SSD is marked as active via diskpart (no system reserve partition), bcdedit shows c:\windows as the default location of the OS, diskpart shows the partition as c:, but the DVD drive is disk0, and the SSD is disk 1. Would that be a problem?

It is like it can't find the winload.exe file but I verified it exists... Read more

Have you tried putting the removed drive back in?

It looks like a video card problem (hardware) to me - but it shouldn't be that because you're able to use the USB Startup Repair functions (am I right in this assumption?). That means (to me) that it's likely to be a video driver problem (?).

Can you attempt to boot into Safe Mode? If so, what happens?
Does the screen problem show up after POST is completed? If so, at what point does it show up?

I have a laptop with a touchscreen and almost a year after buying it I would get black places with vertical white stripes on the screen. Sometimes they took up the whole screen, sometimes they were only an inch thick. They always seemed to be changing in size quickly and were always the full length of the screen. A computer mechanic said it was a short in the screen. It happened especially when I tilted the screen.

I sent it in under warranty and they replaced the LCD and updated the BIOS. Less than a week later it is starting to do it again just a little but it seems like it will get worse.

I do a lot of MS office for school and my sister plays the Sims 3 and free tv sites (but she doesn't download anything).

Please let me know if you need anymore information and provide specific steps on how to get it because I haven't gotten this lingo down, yet! Thanks!

About 2 months ago, seemingly out of nowhere, a black spot appeared on my screen. I have had this laptop for about 2 years with no problems until the spot showed up. I presumed it was dead pixels, but was unable to fix it myself. The spot has now escalated into a huge white area with multiple blue and pink lines running both horizonatally and vertically. I have to struggle with the screen just to keep it from constantly turning pink and/or blue. I've attached a photo of what my screen currently looks like (put against a black background so you can better see the issue). It's very frustrating that it keeps getting worse even though I'm being as careful as I possibly can with my computer. This is my last ditch effort to see if there's possibly any solution to this problem before I just buy a new laptop altogether. It seems like a better solution than having my LCD display replaced, which I know is very expensive. Thank you for any and all help.

Hi there. I have been searching for a solution to this intermittent problem and most posts don't seem to actually address the problem I have. Mostly people with limited knowledge suggest the obvious or don't really read hat the issue is. So here is the problem: I am trying to fix a friends laptop which is an ASUS X44L. Upon starting the laptop a white screen appears with horizontal lines (NOT VERTICAL). This seems to freeze on this screen unless I move the screen back and forwards or press the bezel on either side at the bottom. So I have done all the obvious things including updating all drivers, cleaning out any accumulated debris, pulling the screen apart to check the cables are OK and all appears to be good. Now this doesn't happen every time and the LCD seems to work perfectly with no other problems that are obvious so don't think the screen is cactus. About to see if I can check the GPU is seated properly. Any suggestions are much appreciated but please don't suggest things like malware as this has all been checked out and the laptop runs smoothly in every other respect. I am wondering if it is something to do with the bios not properly initiating the GPU but its just a guess?

I just installed Win7 x64 and whenever I open an image (jpg) the monitor screen goes to blue and white lines with dashed black lines. This also occurs on occasion when I open menus or use an application that requires openGL. I did run Video Memory stress Test v1.7 to see if there were any problems with my video ram (none found).

I have had this screen problems before like this, but it only occurred in Morrowind, otherwise it never happened in windows XP.

The computer does not crash, it just displays the blue, white and black lines for 10 to 30 seconds and then flips back to normal.

Any help would be appreciated.

I use Windows 7 Home Premium SP1.

I started using a new 17" 4:3 monitor. Afterwards, two white vertical lines (borders ?) appear on the two sides of the black content area of a few program windows when maximized.

For instance (IrfanView, whole screen): http://drkh.myweb.hinet.net/white_bo...ng_monitor.jpg

Is that normal?

The old monitor was also 17" and 4:3, but there were not those two lines.

Even if it's normal, I'd rather not see them. Can they be hidden?

I have tried "Personalize > Windows Color > Advanced appearance settings > select Border Padding from under Item > change size from 5 to 0". But that seems irrelevant.

A:Two white vertical lines on screen unseen before

It looks like the edges of the IrfanView window to me (i.e. I see them when I run IrfanView).

As far as I'm aware you can only get rid of them by going to "Full screen" view.

I have just bought an expensive HP 2 in 1 lap top (15 inch Envy x360) and having set it all up I have found that about 80% of the time the screen displays flickering white dotted lines, usually vertical about an inch apart.  These are not continuous lines, but rather they are rapidly flickering very small dots - a bit like a pinstripe suit but more erratic.  When I am working on a white background (e.g. while writing this post) I cannot see it, but on a dark background e.g. watching a film or when opening the start meny, it is noticeable.   It is just about tolerable, but very irritating and is I think giving me a headache.   I have tried projecting to my TV as an external monitor and the problem persists, so it must be a lap top hardware or a software fault.   Does anyone have any tips as to whether and if so how I can put this right from home myself?  Please note whilst I have been using computers for c. 25 years I am not an IT techie so plain English would be helpful in any replies!  Many thanks all and Happy New Year.

Symptoms, 1. When playing dota 2 the sharpness of the graphics seems to be diminishing the longer I play. I was able to play this game on full advance settings with no problem before. If I keep playing windows states that there is not enough memory and asks to close down programs.

2. There is sometimes a grey distortion in dota 2 as you click the news tab. The distortion usually occurs in the box where it shows the pics and stories.

3. When resizing windows explorer (or any other window) there is a dark glitch that appears as you reposition.

4. When watching you-tube music clips there is a fuzzy picture (not sharp at all) like the graphics card is having trouble rendering the video. This occurs even if I let the video buffer before I press play.

5. I used the Trend Micro ATTK tool with Clean boot. The scan picked up some threats but took 8 hours and eventually failed stating " error running java scripts" "do you want to continue running scripts on the page". I have tried to re-run the same scan several times with the same result. I also tried the clean boot option and now I am suspicious that this may altered some star-tup settings in my laptop. After I ran this tool in March this year all my problems got a lot worse.

Steps I have taken so far.

1. Clean install of windows 7
2. disabled hardware acceleration on chrome and internet explorer
3. disabled power play on CCC and realtek.

I have a problem with my Windows XP Desktop, there are blue lines on the top of the screen and the task bar was missing but I managed to pull it up from the bottom so its back again.
Sometimes half of the screen goes white and then normal. When it does go back to normal the top part where the line is crossed is working but the bottom half is not, like its frozen there. The mouse cursor moves really slowly.
However for a little bit the screen goes normal (although the blue line is still flickering) and I can open IE.

So I purchased a Y500 recently and it has been working mostly fine up until last night. Dual graphics card, i5, 6gb RAM, 1TB HD. I was doing Excel work in my living room and closed the laptop and carried it to my bedroom. When I reopened the laptop the screen was completely white with vertical colored lines. Sometimes the lines flash around quickly like it's trying to give me epilepsy and sometimes stay in one spot for a moment.  Ctrl-Alt-Dlt and every other key combination I could think of had no effect so I did a hard reboot. When I turned the computer back on the screen immediately goes back to being white with the vertical lines again. Like almost the instant I turn on the computer. If I leave it on for a while it keeps doing the same thing. I tried leaving it off over night and again in the morning it was the same thing. I plugged in an HDMI cable to my TV this morning and the computer works through the TV no problem.  When I first booted it up there was a windows update that installed which may or may not mean anything. Once booted up I could use the computer through the TV but the laptop screen stayed white with the lines. I'm hoping it could be the cable from the GPU to the laptop getting loose but that is pure layman conjecture. The laptop is under warranty so I'd rather not open it up and not be able to fix anything. Any suggestions?

A:Y500 Screen Bright White with Vertical Colored Lines

hi aceec,

Thank you for using Lenovo Community Forums!

If your Y500 works fine with an external monitor then this is a display issue.
Possible LCD cable but normally moving the screen angle like closing and opening the LCD will make the screen flicker.

Since your still in Warranty I would suggest get in touch with Technical Support for assistance.
I'm sorry to hear what happened.

Solid Cruver,

Hi, my monitor has been acting really weird over the past few weeks. After a few minutes of use, lines appear on the screen and the image starts to jump and distort. Other times, I turn it on and a portion of the screen freezes and fades to black, to white and back to a dark gray. During the fading, there is a background to it which almost looks like a paper behind the screen. During the whole thing, all software works fine, dragging windows between monitors, etc.
I took a video of it and posted it to youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4i6P3Y0A9tM

I have a Dell XPS 630i with dual nvidia 9800gt's. My monitor with the problem is a ViewSonic Optiquest Q2201wb, and my second monitor which works perfectly is a ViewSonic VA720. Both of these are going into a IoGear GCS22U KVM Switch between 2 of my computers.

The problem occurs on Windows Vista SP2, Windows XP SP3, and Ubuntu 10.04, all updates completely. I'm using the latest drivers for all my hardware.

The problem is temporarily solved for a few minutes by unplugging the monitor and plugging it back in. Simply turning it off and on has no effect.
Does anybody have any ideas? Or any other info I should provide?
Thanks in advance,
Nick

I'm back again; this time with an issue on my desktop. I always set the monitor to power off after sitting idle for a few hours. This morning when I tried to use it; the monitor flashed white then went to a black screen with progressively brighter vertical colored lines in different groups across the screen. We powered it off; disconnected the monitor connector and reconnected - still get a white screen on start up then the black screen with color lines that grow brighter and brighter as time goes on. I have onboard video with this machine - praying its not that. I've read other posts here about the lines; OR the white screen but not both. Any ideas friends?

A:Solved: White Screen then Multicolor Vertical Lines on Dell LCD

Solved this myself - and am very glad it was what I thought rather than the onboard vid. Plugged in another monitor and worked just fine. So my monitor is toast - found a great one on sale today so I'm all set. Happy Holidays everyone ...

Hi,I'm looking for help diagnosing the problem with my lenovo y50. I have had it for nearly 3 years now and it has been pretty great for the most part. However, recently the screen started acting  up and going white or black and displaying multicolored lines on screen (I will attach pictures). I looked online for solution including this forum and updated the bios and tried disconnecting the screen connector and making sure it was connected well behind the screen. Ultimately none of this worked and so I am considering replacingthe screen and the edp flat cable. I just wanted to see ifI'm correct in assuming these may be the problem as I even connected the laptop to an external monitor and it worked fine therewith no lines. I will say moving the screen around does help make it visible again. Anyway thanks.

Hi all, I'm sure my specific issue has been covered, but this is my problem:

I restarted my computer due to running slowly, when it was starting back up, it prompted me to either "Run Startup Repair - recommended" or "Start Windows Normally." When opting the latter, the screen would go black, then go back to the same prompt. When selecting the startup repair, the screen goes to a blue screen with squiggly white lines with a hummingbird and a branch on it (wtf?!) and stays there for a long, long time. Is this repairing? How long do I wait? Is there anything I can do?

I've also tried restarting and trying F8 to get to Last Good Configuration, but that doesn't work either Please help!
TIA!

Blue screen is a screen for when your computer crashes but no hummingbird. You can check by going to c:\windows\minidump and seeing if there are files with the extension *.dmp. If so upload them to us.

No DMP files included in upload please try this method

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

Hi there, I've recently been experiencing a problem with my HP Pavilion laptop (running Vista Home 32bit), every so often the screen will just turn black with some white diagonal lines running across it. It will then not respond to any commands and will force me to reboot and lose anything I was working on, please can anyone help me as I've lost work twice now due to this problem.

Many thanks,

Will

I've been having some weird oddities with my computer as of late. Completely at random, my screen will go black (for around 3 - 5 seconds) before eventually coming back on again and I'm noticing some weird, small, white horizontal lines randomly appearing across my monitor for about half a second, then disappearing. At first, I thought I was seeing things... but a friend of mine can back me up on this.

It seems to start and stop randomly, but I think it's getting worse. Often, the screen will go black, come back on, and then the process repeats several times before it seems to settle down back to normal again. The white lines appear while the computer is doing this, but not when the screen has gone back. They dot all around the screen, it's very hard to describe them... it doesn't look good, anyway.

I am convinced this is not my monitor. I have a funny feeling it's my Nvidia GTS 250 graphics card bugging out. I've checked the fan and the temperatures and all seems fine. I've re-installed the drivers and it still happens. I've dusted and re-inserted the card, no dice. It seems to happen completely at random and it's bugging me.

Has anyone had a similar problem before, or might have a clue what is causing this? I was planning on upgrading my machine in March anyway, but I was hoping my GPU might last a little longer (I've had it for two years or so now.)

Cheers.

A:Is my graphics card dying? - Black screen, odd white lines.

I'd be interested to know what your fps benchmark is. evga oc scanner is good. I have dual 460 gtx and the benchmark is around 95 fps. When I installed these in a new board my screen would go black when I paused for anything i.e. to agree to a download. I get a small vertical line loading a game but it didn't worry me for some reason. My benchs are ok, not impressive. After 2 or 3 restarts it hasn't frozen since. If your temps are good and it benchmarks ok I don't know enough and I'm not confident enough to answer questions. Somebody will help you. They put up with me. This is the best forum I've been on yet.

Hi again. I previously posted on this issue so there are images and a complete description from my post a few days ago. Briefly, when the laptop has been shut down or sleeping for more than a few hours there are white horizontal lines on the bottom part of the screen that slowly recede completely to the bottom. The lines do not show up on an external monitor running in duplicate mode.  I have removed the screen twice now and checked/reseated the connections at the screen and under the keyboard. The problem persists.  I flashed the BIOS a few days ago and the problem persists. The webcam, mic, and WWAN/WLAN are all in perfect working condition and the computer works extremely well aside from this screen issue. Before I drop any more money on this used laptop my only question at this point is does this sound like strictly a screen/display cable issue? If it was a motherboard problem would I be seeing other problems? If it's the graphics card going bad would I be seeing other problems? Like I said, the computer works perfectly once it's operating.  Anybody have any helpful ideas?

So im fairly inexperienced with computers so bear with me but recently I was downloading an Nvidia update on my pc (windows 7) when my computer froze and I accidentally rebooted the pc forgetting that I was downloading a driver update and now when I start my pc after the windows loading screen the screen turns blue and has distorted white lines across it. I tried the restore option when starting my computer but that didn't do anything and I can access safemode with no issues.

Any help is appreciated.

Windows 10 has been working perfectly on my machine but then in a recent update (last month), one of the big ones where the screen goes black with a percentage circle of the installation progress (the same one as when you upgrade from a previous version of Windows), after a while the screen goes a light blue colour (not the BSOD) with white lines in the middle of the screen.I presume it is a problem with the graphics driver so I have set the option to not update drivers automatically but the problem still occurs when the PC forces the update automatically.Has anyone else come across this issue? It is a work PC so I'm loathed to do a fresh install as that will take a morning out of my hectic work time. Then I have to use the F8 key and roll back to before the update, which then takes another hour or so out of my time. Why it can't just update in the background like the old days, I don't know. Any help would be appreciated. My frustration is seen in the photo below...

When I boot Vista, 4 on 5 times, I have a black screen with a corrupted white line at the top after the loading dots and before the animated logo like this screen and the computer hangs on this screen and sometimes Vista load NORMALLY and the computer behaves normally without any more hangs. until I shut it off.

The corrupted line at the top could change of appearance and length from one reboot to another...

Here is my config:

Dual Core E8500 @ original specs (3Ghz)
Nvidia 9800GT 512mb NOT overclocked
4 GB RAM at 800Mhz
640 GB WD SATA3
Bios in safe or optimized setup
Vista 32 bits SP1

A:Black screen (with top white lines) locks before animated logo

I just discovered that now, it's becoming an inconsistent boot, after few tries with different boot setting (in F8), it may or may not enter Vista normally, and never with the same option... but I can ALWAYS enter the safe mode boot and the one with networking

If it's hardware related, it seems suspicious because once I'm IN vista with a successfull attempt, there is NO MORE trouble: I can stay on Vista for long period, work with very demanding softwares (like photoshop) or 3D games without any more hangs...

I already tried without success:
- a full defragmentation
- Hijack software
- two anti-malware programs
- the recovery repair disk
- CCleaner
- disable the UAC

I'm really desesperate...

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2550K CPU @ 3.40GHz
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Pro3
RAM: 16.00 GB (4x4 GB)
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 (manufactured by SPARKLE)
All parts are approximately 2-3 years old.

So before things went downhill, I had already had a few crashes when playing CS:GO, where the screen would go completely black with a bunch of white squares, then freeze, requiring a reboot. This was a few days ago. Yesterday, it happened again, but now things are worse, as there are now white horizontal lines filling the screen as soon as I start up the computer (seems similar to what happened in this thread, except the lines are horizontal and not blue). Anyway, my computer won't get past the windows logo when booting up normally, getting a BSOD with the error 0x00000116 and saying something about the graphics card trying to recover something and timing out. When running in safe mode, which I am currently doing, it boots up, but the white lines are still there:

I have the latest drivers for my GPU installed and I've tried cleaning the PCI slot from dust, as well as switching slots, none of which helped. Is my graphics card dying or is there something else going on? System info and such is attached.

edit: reinstalled graphics drivers once more (using the Display Driver Uninstaller to uninstall this time) and updated system dump
Also noted that when I restarted computer, after uninstalling GPU drivers but before reinstalling them, ... Read more

That looks like your GPU could be on it's way out.
The easiest way to test is to plug your monitor into the onboard graphics (provided your board has onboard).
If everything is okay when plugged into onboard then it's your GPU that's faulty and probably needs replacing I'm afraid.
Try the onboard test and see if everything works okay.
If it's still the same then it could be your monitor.

Since then, the machine cannot proceed to desktop unless i press Ctrl-Alt-Del.

Safe mode hangs at ClassPnp.sys

Safe mode boot with boot log enabled does not produce ntbootlog.txt in C:/Windows

Thank you in advance for your help.
