Dell Updates crashed my XPS 15

Q: Dell Updates crashed my XPS 15

As per the subject really. Hadn't used the laptop for a week or so, then last time I used it I was prompted to install 3 Dell Updates. Tried to use for first time post-updates today and it gets past the Dell logo then hangs on a black screen with a white circle going round and round. I can see a cursor and that's it.
Have tried the Dell diagnostic start up tests which didn't show any errors. I can get into the Bios menu and Windows recovery options but not being particularly tech savvy I'm scared to change too much in there.
Any tips on how to fix greatly appreciated. Has anyone else had this issue?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If you're able to get into the windows recovery options again, I suggest you run System Restore in the Advanced options. System restore will go back to an earlier time before the 3 updates are installed. Please follow steps below:
Windows Recovery options:
1. Advanced Repair Options or Advanced Options
2. Troubleshoot
3. Advanced options
4. System Restore

With automatic updates on October 21 my IE8 ceased to load, At the same time my Windows Installer died. Talked to MS techs about IE8 (after I found one who spoke decent English) Had them trying to help for 5 hours. Can not get IE8 or 7 or any other to install. MS decided IE was so corrupted even the uninstaller can not find it.

Summary was to reinstall Vista. I really need to avoid that with about 375 gigs installed on the HD. Difficult to back up everything and even then the registry is corrupt so would need to reinstall all programs...

Does anyone have any ideas how to repair the Windows Installer. I tried the fix by "cat" to no avail. I tried deleting the updates but no help.

Dave

A:IE8 crashed with updates HELP

you can unistall IE8 to make it go back to 7 or 6.. If you have installed any service pack like "sp2 or 3" after installing IE8 you need to unistall the service pack first then you can uninstall IE8..
All these can be uninstalled under add and remove program.. just tick "show updates"

Last night my PC said it was installing'needed' updates, when it go t the point it was going to reboot, it hung up.
After quite awhile I manually re-booted it, and now it only gets to the first two lines in the boot sequence and hangs again. F9 for express recovery and other options do nothing.

Any ideas?

BTW It doesn't recognize my floppy or CD ROM so booting from CD it not an option. I do have a full install CD of XP Pro though.
Thanks

I have first been getting these problems when I downloaded Comodo IS Pro. Apparently when I approached them for help, the technician did not reply to me after telling me to install.

Thus I did a system restore and the computer could load in normal mode(however the screen, etc loaded slow like hell.)

Yesterday, I downloaded comodo firewall and something familiar appeared

From Problem Reports and solution, these are the service that crashed:

4X svchost.exe
1X lsm.exe
1X sandboxie.exe
1X wininit.exe

But guard32.dll from comodo is the module causing it according to Problem Reports and Solution, but anyone knows why and how to solve it?

A:Svchost crashed, windows start up crashed, local session manager crashed

Have you tried uninstalling Commodo to see if it is causing the problem?

Hi all,
I'm interested in your strategies for getting updates for your Dell laptops.
When I got my XPS 15, I subscribed to the Technical Updates service, to receive emails about updates.
That was before I realised my laptop came with the Dell Update application, which advises me of updates via notifications.
I was a bit uncomfortable having two sources of updates. Am I wasting bandwidth downloading the same update twice? Am I overwriting a newer update from one source with an older update from the other source? etc
And I've recently had the SupportAssist 'plugin' installed. Lo and behold, it's Drivers and Downloads section is also suggesting updates.
Do I need all three of these?
I'm tempted to unsubscribe from the emails, uninstall SupportAssist, and just rely on Dell Update. Am I going to miss any important updates if I do this?
Thanks for your help.

Like a number of people a few weeks back, I could not open Windows after downloading that ginormous 13-update patch. I have Windows XP Professional, an IBM R32 Thinkpad, and got the infamous BSOD with the following error codes:

"STOP: 0X000000E3"

"A thread tried to release a source it did not own."

"0X80558BEO"
"0X82FFFFCA548"
"0X00000000"
"0X00000002"

Windows will not start in safe mode or return to last settings, etc. I remember reading here somebody had found a fix, but I can't find it now (I was too sick to deal with it at the time). Can anybody here point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Last night after reinstalling my Office 2007 and Outlook 2007 software I ran Windows update. There were a number of Windows 8 updates as well as Service Pack 1 for Office. There was also one optional update for a technical driver/program (I don't remember the name and can't get to Control Panel to find it out.) I don't know what caused the crash. I believe I need to reinstall Windows 8 (have to use a flash drive because my Dell Duo has no optical drive) and will get some help this afternoon to do that.

Is Office 2007 causing the problem? It seemed to run fine after I downloaded and activated it. Our IT person thinks I'll do better to download the free trial of Office 2010. I was trying to avoid the added expense of new Office software. I'm not knowledgeable enough to anything more than follow directions.

A computer is something I use to do my job, not something I like to tinker with! I wanted the Windows 8 because I have the Dell Duo and its touch screen does not work well with Windows 7.

A:Windows 8 crashed after running updates, need help understanding why

Sorry, Jacquelyn, I would advise that you get Windows 7 working properly with the Dell Duo touch screen - with the help of Dell Support, and any IT support engineer you have for your Job, and not run Windows 8 preview software until it is officially supported. Running the Consumer Preview on your work machine is tinkering!

If you must run Windows 8, do it where it can do no harm.

It happened right after McAfee AV asked me to restart the PC to make it's updates effective. However, not sure if that caused the crash or not. I restarted the PC twice and both the times it crashed. So I started it in Safe Mode and then restarted it back to Normal mode and it did not crash after that. But still don't know what caused the crash especially when there is no way to read a ".dmp" file.

Is there anyway to decode it and find the root cause of the crash? With so many complaints against McAfee out there I wanted to find if that AV program is the culprit or not.

Thanks in advance !

Ok well my sister and I were playing america's army when my internet crashed. So I restarted the modem and the ethernet light came on indicating that I got the internet to my computer now, but the usb did not, which is the cable running to the dell. So we restarted it and when we went to turn it back on it runs a blue screen really really fast so you can't even possibly read it. Then it goes to where you can select to go to safe mode or start windows normally or even start windows with last known good configuration. So I hit start windows normally, and it comes up with the windows xp logo with the little scrolling bar. But then it restarts. And I get this cycle, where it never boots up. I tried taking out the memory modules one at a time to see if it would boot with one of them, that didn't work. I took out the cmos battery and that didn't work. As far as I know all the cables should be good and secure. I removed the PCI graphics card and used the onboard video and that didn't do anything either. So I am really stuck to what to do here. I do have some stuff I need to get off there, so if it comes to the point that I can't get it to run, I will pop it into my computer and hopefully I can get my parents program they have to do their bills with backed up. So if any one has suggestions as to what could have happend that would be great. I guess if it involves much of a part change or something I am probably going to junk it.

It crashed all of sudden today when I am working on it, while preparing some documents in adobe reader.

It gives steady yellow color when I turn it on, fans are running. Not going to BIOS, not even any screen. Monitor is just going to sleep without displaying any content.

Please help on how to fix it. I am badly in need of this computer as recently my laptop screen is broken.

Thank you.

Hi,
I've just purchased a Dell Inspiron laptop 15 - 5567 laptop (Scratch and Dent) from the Dell Outlet and it has already crashed upon first use. I had switched it on and managed to set up a username and password and proceeded to customize my PC when it suddenly showed a 'System Error' message (20% complete) and that the PC needed to restart.
I waited for the PC to restart automatically but I don't think anything happened so I think I tried to restart it myself. But when I switched my PC back on again, it just 'hangs' on a PURPLE screen that says, "Just a moment..." I have waited for over 45 minutes and nothing happens!
I've tried switching it on and off again several times but I get the same purple screen with the same wait a moment message each time I try to restart it again. A couple of times upon switching the PC back on again the Dell logo would show before showing the purple screen again. But most of the time when I press the restart button it would go straight to the purple screen.
Does this mean that there is something seriously wrong with it? Does this sound like a serious or minor fault? I really wasn't expecting this upon first use.
Can anybody out there help????
Thanks!

I'm assuming windows 10 is on the system....
I'd suggest you run Dell F12 Preboot Diagnostics tool to check the hardware on computer. Please follow steps below:
1. Turn off computer and disconnect all peripherals - printer, flash drive, external drive, etc....).
2. Power on system, quickly start tapping the F12 key continuously. In boot menu, stroll down to diagnostic and then click on it. After quick tests, click on hard drive and run Thorough Test mode. Report back any error code. Please click on link below:

My husbands Dell Inspiron 17R N7110 crashed. There?s no factory reset option available & he?s having difficulty using the reinstall disc that came with the computer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as he?s currently deployed & it?s a terrible time for this issue. TIA!

Run a full diagnostic on the hard drive - F12 at powerup.  if it fails, it can be replaced with any standard 2.5" SATA drive -hard drive, hybrid drive or solid state drive.
Quite a bit of disassembly is required to replace the hard drive on this model - the keyboard and palmrest must come out of the system to access the drive.

Here's the problem: While using my Dell 1100 laptop, I opened three different programs at once -iTunes, FL Studios, and a Gameboy emulator- all of which use a decent amount of RAM. The laptop was running slow, but was fine other wise until I accidentally blocked off the fan, which caused it to overheat and turn itself off. Upon turning it back on though, I found that it only displayed the opening Dell logo and loading page, but didn't go pass that. The Windows loading page didn't even show. All that shows after the Dell page is a black screen with a blinking space bar. Something similar to this has happened before and a family member got it fixed for me. That family member isn't here though, and I could really use some help with this. Anyone?? Thanks in advance!

A:My Dell 1100 either overheated or crashed doing more than my RAM allows

even though it overheated... it shounds like your hard drives bad... just because it wont continue to boot... since its a dell... turn the computer on and hit the F-12 key that will bring up a boot menu, then select either hard drive diagnostic, or diagnostics and it will go from there... should help you narrow down your problem

I have a Dell Vostro 1000 ( running XP) which I use occasionally when travelling and which , while working perfectly one minute , suddenly ceased functioning and despite basic inspection by a local PC repair shop seems kaput . There is no signal whatsoever on the screen but when the "on" button is pressed it seems to start up with the usual "whoosh" and the first 3 green lights on the bar to the left of the ON button light up and then go off . In the light block on the right hand hinge of the screen only the first green light shows ( this is the same whether I have the battery in or not ) . The 2nd light , which I understand is the hard disc indication does not light up yet the shop said that they could see nothing wrong with the hard disc .
The 3rd light ( battery ?) also stays alight.

The machine is not completely"dead" as I can hear a background hum which seems to imply that it is working but simply wont display anything .

Do I simply dump the machine or is there a possibility that it might be something relatively simple and remediable ??

Any thoughts would be welcomed .

In case its of any import I mention that when using it I have it permanently plugged into the main power supply just as I would with my ordinary PC at home . Overnight it is turned off by simply folding up the laptop rather than using the ON/OFF button.

Hello Annu,

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem but:
I have a Dell Inspiron 13 which was bought less than 1 year ago. I used this laptop daily for internet usage and Microsoft Office, as well as stored some pictures on it. That's all. However, the hard drive, which again is less than 1 year old, began making a loud clicking noise when I would run my computer. When I ran diagnostics (prompted by the F1 key when the laptop tried and failed to start, all the while making the clicking noise) everything was fine except for the hard drive. If anyone knows why this is happening or has had a similar issue, I'm curious if there is any way to solve this issue aside from buying a new laptop, which is the only option I see as of right now. Thank you.

A:DELL INSPIRION 13 Hard Drive Crashed

Hard drives can fail for any of a host of reasons - excessive shock and heat are the two primary killers.  You may want to consider replacing a spinning hard drive with a solid state drive (no moving parts, so far more shock-resistant).

Since there is no cd/dvd drive in a Dell Inspiron Duo1090, how is the OS reinstalled. Can it be done from a USB Drive? An external CD/DVD reader? Does the new drive need to be set up via USB from another computer? Does the DUO have to go back to Dell?
Thanks for information.

A:Dell Duo with crashed hard drive/OS install

You can install from a USB drive.

I'd guess also from an external DVD reader.

I'd seriously doubt it has to go back to Dell, but if the hard drive failed you may have a warranty claim.

If the drive did not fail, it may have a usable recovery partition on it from which the OS can be reinstalled.

i have tried to reinstall the catalist drivers but since then i cannot use the full resolution of the screen or open the catalist control center.

i have attached the BSOD report but got an error with the perfmon report.

A:My Dell Mini 9 crashed while installing flash bios

I don't know if this will help but read here,http://mydellmini.com/forum/dell-mini-9-ha...os-utility.htmlI read about this problem on other forums.Apparently what happens is the BIOS flash starts ,but the unit doesn'yt look like it doing anything other then flashing the lights, so people turn them off before the flash is complete.According to the other forums once the flash is started the unit needs to just sit until it restarts on it's own , which apparently , can take awhile.Since this is a know issue ,if neccessary it is covered under the warranty.

Hi Guys,

Last week I found my Laptop was hanging/lagging as soon as i get my Desktop screen. At first i thought it should be a Virus problem, but i had latest Kaspersky Internet security software. When i ran it, laptop freezes. Booted the laptop in safe mode and tried uninstalling few memory consuming programs, still no luck.

Ran Dell memory test and found a problem with Hard disk. I had 4 partitions(c:\ is primary where OS is installed). I formatted the C:\ drive and tried re-installing Windows Vista, but it was an failure, I tried this more than 10 times in different ways.

I had second thought to connect this Hard Disk to another computer as secondary drive and to move data to other drive. So I bought a new Hard Drive and Installed vista on it and it works fine.

I bought 2.5" Hard Disk connector and connected to laptop. It showed as Mass storage device connected, but when i went to "My Computer" I could not see the any other drives except the new drive.

I went to Disk Management and found the crashed drive and it showed as "Unallocated"

I seeked help of an expert but he said it will very expensive (>3500$) which is not affordable. I need an help. I have helped many of them in this forum to resolve their issues, lemme see if someone can help me on this.

PIII, 256MB, 10GB

PC was originally getting some stop error while booting into windows. I failed to note that one, but after some research pinpointed it to a driver issue. I couldnt figure out which driver however and ended up reinstall program files. After that, windows booting just fine. I checked device manager and there were three yellow !'s. One on the sound card, and 2 for the IDE controller. I reinstalled the sound, and rebooted. No problems there, sound worked fine. I checked the IDE problem and again, I failed to note it but it said something like device failed to start, free up resources.

Everything was working fine but that IDE deal was bugging me. I downloaded Dell's IDE driver and ran the installer on that. It locked at 95% for about 5 hrs. I had no choice but to turn the pc off.

Turning it back on I'm getting a Stop 1E, (0xC0000005, 0xED414007, 0X00000001, 0X03074660 KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error with the IDEBUSDR.SYS driver referenced.

I am also unable to get into safe mode at this point. Additionally, if I hook the hard drive up to another pc via usb ext. hdd case it does not even recognize it. Tried it on 3 pc's, no luck. It does see the device in the bios, its just when its about to bring up the windows loading screen that it errors. Tried reloading proggies again but no luck. booted to a bartpe disc (where I'm able to see and access all data) and renamed the idebusdr.sys but that just brought... Read more

Inspirion 15 Dell Labtop crashed - Download windows 8.1 to reinstall
Dear Support Helpdesk,
My labtop has crashed and  I recently upgraded to windows 10. Now my computer will not boot up and let me provide my password to get into the system.
A blue screen comes on and indicates:

"RECOVERY"
Your PC/Device needs to be repaired
The boot configuration Data file is missing some required information
File:\BCD
Error Code: 0xc0000034
You'll need to use recovery tools. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your PC Administrator or PC/Device manufacturer.
Please tell me you can help and the "FIX IT" is simple? I'm the PC Administrator and am at an end of the rope and have no idea what to do next, but download windows upgrade 8.1 on a DVD-R and put it on my laptop? Can you walk me thru this if infact
I can do this and this is the only solution. In-addition, I'm currently on a budget and on Disability and obviously can't afford to by anything to fix the laptop and looking for a free at hand solution. Which I should mention have no product key code in case
I might need one. If I do need one "QUESTION: Can I get one somewhere for free?"

3 days ago, I went to boot up my Dell XPS 8500 running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit (after having booted it up and used it earlier in the day with no problem, not having recently installed any software or made any configuration changes.) The result was a black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left-hand corner. If I reset the computer, I got the Dell splash screen, but the F2 option to enter setup and the F12 option to choose boot devices did nothing--still got the black screen. I opened the case, removed and replaced the CMOS battery. This allowed me to get into BIOS. I then found that if I change the hard drive from RAID mode (what it's supposed to be, as I have a drive with an SSD cache) to AHCI, I could start to boot Windows, but after a few seconds of the "Starting Windows" screen, I would get a quick flash of a BSOD. I was able to see that the error was STOP, 7B. I was also able to get into the onboard Dell ePSA diagnostics, in which every test passed fine. I was able to boot from a Windows installation USB drive, and use the bootrec tool as many online guides describe. I apologize in advance if this topic is not in the right forum. I am having serious issues with my Dell Inspiron 1520 with XP 32bit Media Center Edition. I bought a Seagate 500gb/7200rpm hard drive about 6 months ago and got a message this morning saying "read failure on internal hard drive". I am pretty sure it died as I've slaved the hard drive to another computer and it's not being recognized but the motor is still going. On to my main question here.... How do I know that it's not the motherboard that has gone out? I've been having problems here lately with my quickset drivers as well as my video card drivers but I thought that problem had been resolved. I've also been infected with countless virus's and trojans as of late even though I have anti-virus programs/malware programs. I had the "google redirect" for the past month and was finally able to get it off just Saturday. My motherboard crashed about 2 years ago and was replaced under warranty. I've read that the motherboards in this particular model are crap.

I am worried about my motherboard as I put another hard drive in the computer and I just kept getting BDOSs but it was too fast for me to see an error code. This hard drive is configured for Vista 32bit and is for a different model Dell and different motherboard so I am not sure if that would make it not work.

My second question would be if I had to replace my motherboard would I have to go back with OEM ... Read more

A:Dell Inspiron 1520 hard drive crashed... did motherboard crash also?

There's no reason to think it's the board.
Did you make a warranty claim on the drive?
Did you install XP on the replacement drive, or just try to use it as is? A repair install may solve the problem, but a clean install would be better.

Good day chaps, yesterday night I was casually playing a game (Aion > mmorpg) and I decided to put some music on(it was on browser, YouTube), when I pressed alt+tab to change it it started flashing telling me the exact issue : AMD DRIVER CRASHED AND FAILED TO RECOVER.

I got a bit scared when it gave me a blue screen, so I thought of asking for any tips or clues why it does that~

For unkown reasons, I can't upload the .dmp file saying either its empty, or The uploaded file does not have an allowed extension.

Hope you can help me and thanks a buck!~

Hello!
I bought a Dell XPS 15 (9550) with Windows 10 and so far everything have been good, except that I keep getting empty updates from the Dell Update-app.
I have installed these empty updates ("0 updates are ready to install") many times but they never stop.

Today, I got this message: "73 updates are ready to install", which got me a bit worried.
What can I do?

A:Dell Update - Empty updates "0 updates are ready to install"

I'd suggest you uninstall / reinstall Dell Update. Type Settings onto [Cortana] search box, click on Apps, and then uninstall Dell Update. To reinstall: expand Application in the link below, and then Dell Update.

Installed Vista 64 Home Premium SP1 OEM on Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5, and the computer immediately began to download and install 40 updates via "auto update". These updates did not affect the operability of Vista, HOWEVER the 2nd group of "updates" (there were like 4-5) completely disabled my onboard NIC drivers and I could no longer connect to the internet. There were no updated NIC drivers on the Gigabyte website for the motherboard. I used "System Restore" but the system would not allow the NIC drivers to be reinstalled.
This is TOTALLY unacceptable when you are obligated to download "Auto-Updates" and then they require a complete reinstall of the OS to repair the damage caused by the "Update". I was forced to completely reinstall Vista 64 SP1. I allowed the first 40 updates to install, then I disabled "auto updates".
Anyone else have this problem? Unfortunately, I was unable to determine exactly which module created the problem - but I tried "uninstalling" the top five "updates" on the "installed updates" list but could not get the system to allow the NIC drivers to initialize/install....

A:Vista 64 SP1 crashed after 24 hours of operation due to "Auto Updates"

Sorry to hear about your problem and hope you got it sorted out. I myself have had no problems with Auto Updates, I just make sure it doesn't download and install drivers. You can do this by opening:

1- Windows Update, then clicking on...
2- Change settings, and under...
3- Recommended Updates make sure the...
4- "Include recommended updates when downloading, installing, or notifying me about updates" check box is unchecked. This will prevent those recommended driver updates from automatically downloading and installing on your system. From your explanation, it sounds like that's exactly what happened - a driver got downloaded and installed.

For future reference

A:Dell Inspiron N4110 -System crashed when Game Played AFTER- No Display nothing black screen,NoHard drive Activity

I would recommend starting with removing the battery, then unplugging the AC adapter, and then holding down the power button for 15 seconds or so. After this release the button, put back in the battery and AC adapter, and lastly press the power button. Then see if the system boots up. If this doesn't work, you could try doing minimal boot, like removing memory/HDD just to see if you get a screen. Unfortunately if none of this works, it sounds like it might be a hardware issue. Here is a link for the service manual to remove items, let me know if you have any questions. Best regards,Brad

I have a windows 7 pro 64 bit laptop. I was getting ready to load the 10 update this weekend.

I left the computer on over night, which was a mistake because windows took that time to install a series of updates to windows 7 which stopped it from booting.
I noticed my computer as sitting at a totally black screen and was unresponsive, no disk activity not response to mouse.

I rebooted the computer it resumed it's dead state.I rebooted computer and let the system do is't repair thing. This went on for minutes and on rebooting was still messed upIt tried the auto repair 2 more times before selecting advanced options.I attempted to do a system restore. Strangely there was only one system restore point all the others where missing and the restore point from 8/30 wouldn't work.I went to command prompt and ran chkdsk d: /r and after letting that run through (no major errors), tried to reboot again.I ran HP's system diagnostics on disk/memory and system board everything checked out. Then I tried to reboot with the generic repair and again with the system restore, neither worked.I rebooted again into safe mode. I fired up device manager and disabled a network printer and scanner device that where showing yellow errors.I then started msconfig and turned off everything but some MS drivers. Rebooted...same result.I launched appwiz.cpl and removed the one program I downloaded last night and tried booting again, still no luckI let the system site for an hour, in it's quite state noth... Hi, I love this site and you guys have helped me so much, so first of all, thank you!

Now the bad news.... I got the WIndows Vista Repair virus about a month ago on my Acer PC. At first, it ran all of those warning messages and then it shut down the computer and reloaded as what appeared to be a completely wiped computer. The only icon on the desktop was the Windows Vista Repair. I tried to find programs by searching for a few minutes before trying to shut down (which the virus had also made me incapable of doing), and resorting to popping out the battery to shut it down. I restarted in safe mode with networking and tried to get on this site, but even in safe mode my browser was auto-redirecting me to sales sites. By following instructions for removal on this site, and downloading programs onto a flash drive from a different computer, I was able to get my computer in working order again, although it would still, at times, randomly shut down my internet browser (and the process and amount of time I spent getting it just to that state of operation was ridiculous, much worse than any virus I've EVER had...I can explain what all happened and the steps I took if necessary). A couple of weeks later, I left my computer on while I went to a friend's house for the night, and when I came back in the morning I couldn't get it to unfreeze. I shut it down and for the next two days, every time I tried to turn it on it would just run on a loop, booting up part of the way bu... Read more
