Vostro 1320 Display Bezel Replacement: Is it Really that Complicated?

Q: Vostro 1320 Display Bezel Replacement: Is it Really that Complicated?

I need to replace (or just mend if replacements are no longer available) the front display bezel on my Vostro 1320. According to the Dell service manual, you have to remove the display assembly, which entails also removing the battery, hard drive, WLAN card, hinge cover, and keyboard.
Is it really that complicated.? A non-Dell website (www.laptopinventory.com/.../LCD) suggests that all you need to do is remove the screw covers and screws and pry off the bezel. I don't want to go ahead with this without checking.
Thank you,
Terry

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all!

First time on this forum, found it hoping someone here could help me answer a real simple question; I cracked the screen on my laptop, and the person replacing it later told me that the bezel around the screen was in fact cracked as well, and if we were to replace that screen it would be loose and likely break again... Long story short, I have to drop another $20-30.

Another part of the hassle is my lack of knowledge with things like this. The mentioned laptop was an HP Envy Sleekbook, my model being the 6-1110us (link: http://www.amazon.com/HP-6-1110us-15-6-Inch-Sleekbook-Black/dp/B009AU2IA6).

The site I found a possible replacement bezel on was Ebay, (http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-HP-Envy...Laptop_Housings_Touchpads&hash=item1c3e5e0b70) and I seem to trust it, however this was for the 6-1000us model, my model nowhere to be found, other than on the HP partsurfer.

So tl;dr: would a 6-1000us bezel fit a 61110us laptop, and would it be safe? Also, if it doesn't fit, where could I find the right bezel? Is the partsurfer (which offers no further information on the part other than the name) be a reliable resource?

Thanks in advance!

A:Simple Bezel Replacement Question

If the screen sizes are the same for those two models the the bezel will fit.

I've often replaced laptop screens and often have used screens from completely different models as the all tend to use a standard screen anyway. Buying a screen for a particular model is the expensive way of doing it.

Hi shields,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can review this article:
How to lookup and purchase Accessories, Upgrades, and FRU/CRU Replacement Parts

CHecking with the hardware manual shows example part number 90205132 ZIVY0 Upper Case SV W/KB-US. You can check on the parts lookup page for your upper case that includes the bezel and keyboard.

Check availability of the parts with Lenovo encompass here.

You can reference the hardware manual for dissassembly although since most of the parts are attached to it, you may need to remove major parts altogether as discussion here. Service training videos are currently not available at the moment for the model.

I hope this helps answer your query.

My bag with the laptop inside dropped from a chair, and then the screen bezel cracked. I want to replace it, but I don't know how. I don't see it in 'Part Lookups' either, so I don't know what part number it is. I see small little wires sticking out after I left it alone a few days, thinking that the cracks were okay. Can someone help? With wires sticking out like that, is it covered by the warranty? (mine is the limited warranty, I don't think I purchased the accidental damage protection)EDIT: is the small wires I mentioned and in the picture really wires? I'm beginning to suspect something that looks like wire is just caught there. I've taken apart an ASUS laptop screen bezel before, and I don't remember seeing wires.

Hi everyone

I have Toshiba Qosmio G20 laptop which i have had no serious problems with since purchase about 3 years ago and this morning it went crazy on me.

Before i start explaining my problem i apologies if i dont make sence, its quite complecated to explain, anyway so here i go.

The problem that i am having is that when i boot up my laptop the Qosmio logo appers fine and then it goes into the password screen (this is the hard drive password NOT the windows login screen.) The password screen normal is a black screen asking for the password but now the whole screen is full of white pixles and about 3 M letters where it ask's you for the password. When i enter the password it then goes into the windows load up screen and on this screen there are various green/blue virtical lines on it. When it finally loads the screen just goes black and nothing happens but i can see the hard drive working. I then have to do a hard shutdown since there is nothing else i can do.

What i then decided to do was login using safe mode. Once i had entered the hard drive password i pressed F8 and was presented with the screen where you pick how you would like to start windows. This screen was again filled with white pixles all over the screen and the letter M was all over the place as well. I could not make out which one was safe mode but i knew it was the first one so i selected it had loged in. It went to the windows load up screen again with green/blue virtical lines and then it ... The only sure thing is an exact replacement.  Next best is to buy a screen known to have shipped with the same model system you have.
Notebook LCDs are not as standardized as other PC parts - you can easily find variances within the same model line where one system will take a specific screen and another will not.

Dear forum
I have a 2 year old Dell Vostro 3750 laptop. It has a problem in the display. But it works perfectly fine on external display. The laptop screen flickers some time and I get a plain white screen. And it works fine sometime for few minutes.
I tried with a new screen and tried to replace the LCD video ribbon cable that connects the LCD from the mother board. All this trials did not help. Still the same problem continues.
What could be the cause ? Could it be a problem in the motherboard ?
Please help
Thanks

A:Vostro 3750 - Display problem

If it works fine on your external monitor then your motherboards is OK. You either have a problem with the laptop screen connection/connector or the screen itself. The ribbon cable can be a little tricky to replace. Make sure it's not upside down.

My old Vostro 1400 display goes black shortly after startup.  External monitor works fine, and the image is visible on the screen if I shine a bright light on it.  So, I conclude that either the lamp driver or the bulb is bad, am going to try repairing but don't know where to get these parts.  Options for my computers tag don't show these parts.

A:Vostro 1400 Display Failure

You'd have to try EBay - - or replace both the screen and the inverter together, which is likely the best option.
There was once a time when replacing the bulb or inverter made economic sense because of the cost of LCD panels -- it no longer does.  You can easily replace the screen and inverter for well under $100.

I just bought a i5 3570k (yes the socket does match the motherboard) and when I put it in and turn the PC on, the screen says there's no input display. When I use my old processor however, the PC works fine. I have looked for an updated BIOS, but somehow I appear to have BIOS A08, even though only A06 is available on the Dell website for this computer. I am using Windows 10 and have put in a 600W PSU.

A:Dell Vostro 460 new processor, no display.

The "K" CPUs are unlocked - there is no lock pin to tell the mainboard the multiplier.  They're designed to be used on boards that have a BIOS-adjustable clock lock -- i.e., for overclocking.  Since your board does not have such a provision (it depends on the CPU lock to set the processor speed), this processor will not work with your system - you need a standard 3570 CPU, not the unlocked 3570K.

Is there a display driver for the Vostro 3750 and windows 10?  My display goes to black and white with vertical lines through it periodically since upgrading to Windows 10.

A:Vostro 3750 upgrade causes display issues

So your laptop was never tested with Windows 10 by Dell so in terms of offical support you are out of luck, however there may be some tricks you can do to fix everything.  First off you can go to the support page for your computer here:  And download the windows 8 drivers.  I've heard that most windows 8 drivers are compatible with windows 10 and may work for your case.  Also if you are having problems with your Nvidia card (if equipped), you can go to and download the latest geforce driver for your computer.  If the issue is an intel driver problem that is where it might get a little tricky as downloading the latest video drivers from intel doesn't work all the time... or maybe that's the chipset drivers i forget.  Anyway give that a try.

Hi all,
I am a proud owner of Vostro 3560 ( i7 Q, 8GB, ATI 7670M HDD+SSD).
But something is really wrong with my notebook. The issue is as follow:
I have chosen from Power options to turn off the display after 5 minutes ( tried also with more. )
So after 5 minutes, the display is turned off. I am moving my mouse to turn it on, but it doesnt show anything. Just the backlight is diplayed ( the screen become more lighter ), The notebook remains responsible, but nothing is showed on the screen. I have tried couple of driver versions ( original, latest, middle version. ), also its happening on Win 7, 8, 8.1. I have played around almost every setting that could be changed. Nothing in event log.
The only way to fix this is to turn off the laptop / put it in sleep mode and then turn on from power button.
Can you advice on what could cause this ? Or where should i look for the problem ? It might be related to power options or VGA ? Anyone with same problem?
Thank you!

Hi, I had a GPU fail in my Dell Vostro 1500 laptop. The card that failed was an NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS. The Vostro laptop actually can accept an NVIDIA 8600 GT card too. So I ordered the replacement part from Dell for the 8600 and they shipped me a refurbished unit.
The surgery to put in the new card took all night for hack like to do. I did not look carefully at the refurbished unit they shipped me as I was nervous handling the card (that I might break it).
But when I turned on the laptop after the installation, I did not get a pause at the BIOS saying “I see new hardware” like I did when I upgraded the RAM.
After the computer booted up I uninstalled the 8400 driver and then installed the 8600 driver. There was a snag at it’s possible that Windows automatically reinstalled the 8400 driver during one the required reboots but I KNOW that I wrote the 8600 driver over top at least (I had hoped to do a clean uninstall then reinstall but Windows tried to grab a driver for me).
So now when I right click on computers, properties device manager it shows the video as still the 8400 card. The 8400 card I removed has a sticker on it that says KU907 on it. The invoice for the 8600 that Dell sent for the 8600 says KU907 on it too.
I think I was sent the wrong part from Dell (I paid a higher price for the 8600 GPU) . Is it possible that a legacy driver is making the Vostro think it has the 8400 when the part IS an 8600. Or when I go to the Device Manager, does the computer physically c... Read more

I've been working on attempting to fix my girlfriends Dell Vostro 1400 notebook and I've been running into too many brick walls.

First off, the computers specs:

When I got the laptop from her I booted it up and there was no video, just a blank screen. It indicates HDD activity but nothing displayed. I then tested out the PSA boot method through the beep sequences. It came up with an optical drive error, which I can really doubt. I've unmounted the optical drive and thoroughly inspected it, but I couldn't imagine it being the problem here.

I then hooked it up through my PC external monitor, and got some video out of it. It goes through the boot start up and then hangs for a good 3-5 minutes before displaying an error message that reads:

***Hardware Malfunction

***The System Has Halted***

I reboot and attempt to enter any of the start up options but none seem to be operational. It takes about 5 minutes to enter BIOS setup and as soon as it loads it just display nonsensical coding. Hi,
Based on the troubleshooting performed if the display is good on external screen then the systemboard works fine. Now that the issue is seen only with the laptop screen I would ask you to initiate the LCD BIST( Built in Self Test) on the system.
To initiate LCD BIST restart the system along with the FN key pressed or restart the system and keep tapping the D-Key. During the test solid colours will be displayed on the screen if the distortion is displayed during the test its confirmed that the screen is faulty.

From the Service Manual: Manual There is a 1366 x 768 panel and a 1600 x 900 panel and there is only one cable used for either panel so yes, you could replace your panel with the higher resolution model and the screen will display at the right resolution.  Post back if you need help locating the part or installing.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hello,

i can't get a HP LaserJet 1320 to work on Windows 7 64-bit. It is a printer connected to an XP machine on the network, when i add the printer, it says, that the driver can't be found on the network, then i can pick a driver from disk, but the 64-bit driver package, that HP offers on their page for this printer doesn't work.
There's also an install.exe in the package, but it just says Installing for too long and does nothing.

Have you encountered this issue?

A:Hp lj 1320

Here's something you could try:
Uninstall all HP drivers and software for your printer you have installed on your Win7 machine
Open Devices and Printers
Click Add a printer
Click Add a local printer

Click Next
Click Windows Update, wait until the list of printers appears (it takes quite a long time!)

Choose HP on the left pane and HP Laserjet 1320 on the right

Click Next and follow the instructions. Connect the printer directly to your Win7 computer when told so, not before
When ready and installed, turn off and disconnect the printer from your Win7 computer. Connect it back to XP and turn on
Reboot Windows 7, follow the steps above until step 4 and choose this time Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer instead of a local printer
Click Next, follow the instructions given
It should work now.

Hello to all.So, since the terrible banding issue that affects the Lenovo Z50-75 display Full HD version (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Z50-75-Gradient-colors-color-banding-dark-dim-d...) will not be clearly resolved by Lenovo, I'm searching for a replacement of better quality that can solve the problem at its root.I think that the only way is to buy an 8-bit display, here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-B-and-G-Series-Notebooks/Change-HD-Display-To-FULL-HD-G50-45/td-...someone has found a solution by using an AUO B156HAN01.2 display, but in a G50-45 laptop, and I'm not sure it can be also good for Z50-75.Anyone knows some compatible display for this model? Thanks in advance.

HI. To find the top cover you have to search on pages like ebay, Amazon or similar: Display back cover 608208-001Display Screw Kit (not illustrated; includes screws and screw covers) 608212-001 http://www.ebay.com/itm/100-New-HP-Pavilion-DM4-1000-2000-Serie-LCD-back-cover-636936-001-608208-001-US-/281219267004 DM4 series Right and Left Hinges hinge sets 608214-001 http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Pavilion-DM4-series-Right-and-Left-Hinges-hinge-sets-608214-001-US-shipping-/280985982671 Ordering HP Certified Replacement Partshttp://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00372736 Manual service:http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03106715 Regards.

I'm trying to work on solutions for a friend with a Toshiba A15 S127. The display has gone dark. I believe it is the backlight that has gone out since I can vaguely see the desktop when I shine a light on it and the funtion-f7 didn't make it brighter.

I have two concerns regarding purchasing a replacement display.

1) Is it relatively straight forward to replace. I have cracked the case on an old Thinkpad and a Mac laptop so I don't mind trying, I just want to understand the risks first.

2) Several online articles indicate that the inverter may also be the cause of this problem. Is the inverter part of the replacement display or part of the main casing internals? I hate to spend to much on a display only to find I have to spend more on an inverter or have I got this pattern backwards.

TIA

Could be either the inverter or the backlight, no easy way to tell except by replacement. That often means its cheaper to have it done in a shop, rather than buy both parts.

Grtting the laptop apart can be a problem unless you follow the disassembly instructions (if you can get them), but having it still work when reassembled is even more rare...

Hello -  I have a situation where my laptop screen has been smashed in transport. I tried to phone the UK repair center for a quote (my machine is 2 months out of warranty) - but because the machine originally came from the US they are unable to help me.   Could someone please advise on the best course of action here - I am happy to pay to get the screen replaced, but I need to know how to do this.
