Chrome/Firefox tabs crash, games cause crashes + BSoD

Q: Chrome/Firefox tabs crash, games cause crashes + BSoD

For starters:

Intel Core i7 4770 @3.40GHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 770 AMP! 2GB, Gigabyte H87M-HD3, 16GB 1333MHz RAM (2x8), Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB, 1TB HDD, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Firefox Crash Report for Reference:
https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/645b528d-1dcb-4287-97bc-8f44b0171103

About a week ago I started getting this issue on Firefox: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ

The issue also causes games to crash such as Overwatch and Rocket League which causes a, " Overwatch stopped working in the graphics driver" issue, and can also on some instances cause BSoD.

I also tried to install Fortnite and ran into constant corruption errors and install loops, which is supposedly due to hardware errors or the HDD not being NTFS (Which both are).

I understood this to be a GPU error, however I ran the following tests to rule out any other possibilities:
Undertaken all windows updates both optional and mandatory (Updates are not automatic)
Updated GPU driver + rolled back to various drivers (From 388.13 to 384.94)
Uninstalled recently installed software in-case of conflict
Clean installations of Firefox and Chrome from various versions to beta
Command prompt "sfc /scannow" with no issues
Disabled and enabled hardware acceleration to test both
Ran software in safe-mode to see if it was an extension problem
Changed dom.ipc.plugins.flash.disable-protected-mode to true in Firefox
Ran full virus checks on both C and F drives with the results at 100% health
0% fragmentation on F drive
Ran memory diagnostics tool with zero problems found with RAM
Disabled Intel graphics in-case of conflict
At this point i'm at a bit of a loss. The build is roughly 5 years old, having added the SSD about 7 months ago. It's a GPU error, yet I'm entirely stuck as to how to further try and tackle this issue. At the moment I'm heading out to grab some compressed air to give it a good deep clean, otherwise I'm looking at forking out to make a new build.

Thanks for all comments.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a new desktop PC that runs on Windows 7 and after about two weeks, the Flash and Java plug-ins started crashing, and now I keep getting a MEMORY_MANAGEMENT BSOD constantly. Switching browsers has not helped a bit. I have created a dump file, which you can find attached.

I really hope someone can help me and I appreciate the efforts!

Hi,
I'm having a problem that looks like malware, those are the symptoms:
chrome is opening with its previous tabs, but the tabs doesn't load (empty tabs).
firefox works, but is hanging for long periods
i tried many antiviruses and malware removers (free from internet) for no avail
I tried combofix, and the problem was fixed, but is returning almost every day ( eventually in restart of computer)
I didn't find a hint in its log to find which file caused the problem.
i attached the dds logs and the comboFix log.txt.
thanks in advance

Hi all,

I'd like to know if you guys here got a BSOD when using Google Chrome? Specifically when opening new tabs? I've been getting BSODs this week and twice in the last 30 minutes. Always the Page Fault in Nonpaged Area.

All I wanted to know if there's any word that it'll be looked into and solved in future updates? I'm switching to Firefox for now.

Thank you people!

Any help would be appreciated. Don't want to go around formatting my comp now, don't have enough backup space.

There aren't any .dmp files to analyse, but a good start might be to install a genuine version of Windows.

Counterfeit installations such as yours contains heavily modified code that causes the installation to behave it unexpected ways. Analysing BSOD's and determining their causes on these sorts of installations is very unreliable.

My recommendation is to start with a clean slate, and install a genuine version of Windows. This will minimise the problems you are experiencing, and make subsequent diagnosis of BSOD's far more reliable. Once you are running a genuine Windows installation, and are still experiencing BSOD's, we will be happy to help you solve them

In safe I checked where the rogue was located (an appdata/local of course dated with dec. 7 creation yet last modified july 2009). I opted to run MB rather than manually delete this files. I ran an updated Malwarebytes with a quick scan and here are the goodies I found:

Hey all,
I'm having an issue with my ASUS F5GL laptop. If I try to launch a game like Counter-Strike: Source, Garry's Mod or Just Cause 2, not long after actually leaving the menu and beginning to play (anywhere between 2-5min), the whole laptop just silently crashes. I checked ALL the logs, and there is nothing in there, except something recorded at boot, saying the computer was not cleanly shutdown. When it does crash, a second before it crashes, a weird thin horizontal line appears in a random location on the screen, going all the way across the screen. This was happening under Windows Vista, but I just bought and did a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium, and it's still happening. I have updated my drivers and it still happens. I've been doing the research to try and figure out what is going on here, but I haven't found anything to suggest that my BSODs are being caused by one issue in particular.

I have a new PC build, and it is BSODing when I would open up new Chrome tabs. The other day, it crashed while idling. I ran some stress tests after I built the machine, and it passed just fine.

All drivers are updated, and I even updated to the latest beta version of Catalyst to make sure that it's not my Crossfire setup, while I believe it could be.

Attached are my logs.
Attachment 364476

Anybody have any clue as to what is going on? I will try and run memtest86 when I get off of work to see if that may be the culprit. Otherwise, the only non-normal things I have running on my system would be my r9 280x crossfire setup, my raid 0 array with samsung evo 850s, and maybe my Corsair h100i

Thanks all.

A:BSOD opening new tabs in Chrome - Now may occur randomly on new build.

Alrighty... So I ran memtest for almost 2 days now and no errors were found. It's clean. I still don't know how to solve this issue. Any takers?

Hello,

I am experiencing complete deadlock freezes (caps lock/scroll lock doesn't change) when doing anything semi intensive on my computer.

This is a brand new PC with specs in my profile.

Some quick details:
No BSOD
No Sound Stutter
No Event Logs Except "Event 41 - Kernel Power" logs AKA Power Button

My last recorded temps before freeze (Running GTA V):
http://i.imgur.com/IdIFJHK.jpg

My event viewer:
Gyazo - c1c100c7cbc119358262e677830c6c28.png

What I have done so far:
Updated Windows 7 with latest updates
Reinstalled Video drivers (Completely wipe and reinstall)
Reinstall chipset drivers
Reinstalled audio drivers (I tried Realtek, Nvidia)
Disables Nvidia Audio Drivers and only left realtek drivers going
Updated my Ram to run 9-9-9-24 vs BIOS having 10-10-10-27
Windows Memory Diagnostics Showed No Problems with 6 Standard Passes on RAM

Any ideas?

A:Deadlock Freeze, NO BSOD When Gaming / Lots Of Chrome Tabs

The temperatures screenshot gives 404 error.

And those are a lot of errors for a brand new PC. Do you know what causes them and you are fine with them?

Here is what mine looks like (over 9 days):

11 warnings due to my AV not releasing the registry hive while restart/shutdown (known issue, considered design feature by company reps)
Event 16 - caused by Adobe Reader DC while shutting down - known, will be fixed in the next patch
Event 100 - Iexplore crashing after uploading a file to SevenForums, have to learn why exactly (seems it doesn't crash if I close from the x up top, only when clicking close this window)
etc

Run memtest86 overnight.
You should first try resolving OS issues before playing with RAM timings. Pull it back to default and also either decrease multiplier (1066-1333 Mhz) or change to unganged mode (1600 Mhz).
Run CoreTemp and keep an eye on temps, in case the thermal wasn't applied properly.

You can upload to the forums, no need to use 3rd party sites. Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums

I did not install anything onto my computer before I had issues with two of my browsers. Sometimes they work find but then after a few minutes, they can't go to a new page. It is most noticeable when I first start up the browsers. They fail to open or crash entirely, but after a third or forth try they open to the home pages, but then they fail to navigate to a new site. Sometimes they just crash, and other times they just simply do not move at all. This has only been an issue with Chrome and IE.

But Firefox works fine except when I need it start up with tabs it was suppose to remember. In that case, I also try to open it three or four times before it opens up to the home page without remember the tabs it was suppose to save. But after it opens, it does not seem to have the problems IE and Chrome have.

I ran my Norton 360 full scan and it has not detected any viruses.
I tried uninstalling Chrome and reinstalling it and it still had problems.

Any suggestion at least as to what is going on and how I can fix it

A:[SOLVED] IE and Chrome crash but Firefox works

Hi, when you see these odd types of problem it is usually down to a errant "add on" or a third party AV program.

Since you have a most likely candidate in Norton I would start there. Remove this product completely from your computer. Use their uninstaller.

https://www-secure.symantec.com/nort...=1&lg=en&ct=us

Next download Microsoft security Essentials it is free from MS and will not cause the sort of problems Norton is infamous for. Use the windows firewall.

Do a reset of IE and uninstall chrome and reinstall it. See if your problem is solved.

Wow... Where to start?

Recently, Firefox became a crash machine with constant crashes. Sometimes simply moving from page to page, sometimes locking up when nothing is happening. I prefer Firefox, but the crashes became so bad, I started using IE 8 and guess what? That browser will only stay up moments if it comes up at all. Finally, I went to Chrome and same deal there; it crashes suddenly upon start up on moments after. Firefox seem to be the most stable, but you never know when it's going to crash or freeze up.

On top of these issues, I've always used Malware Bytes anti-malware, but when the above issues began, it quit finding anything. Furthermore, I was running Adaware and it always found a cookie or two. When I began using the trial version ESET Node 32 anti-virus V4.0, I had to uninstall Adaware. Now when I try to re-install Adaware, the file is corrupted. Also, now that my trial is up for ESET, I have tried to download AVG and it errors during the installation process.

Sounds like I've got a good one...

Suggestions greatly appreciated!

Hi. I've recently been trying to play Metal Gear Solid 5 but every time I boot it up my PC either crashes as soon as the splash screens are done or after a few minutes. It's been crashing while playing other games as well but it's been much rarer. It's not a BSOD crash and it doesn't produce any crash dumps so I'm leaning towards it being a problem with either the PSU, the motherboard or one of the graphics cards. Any help with finding the cause of this would be appreciated.

The PSU model is fd-psu-newt2-800, the graphics cards are both Nvidia GTX760s and the motherboard is a ASUS Sabertooth Z77

Hi there

I got a virus/trojan of some sort today when an IT technician just had to poke his USB inside my netbook. The immediate effect I noticed was that Google Chrome started opening whatever link I clicked in a new tab, even though I did not press CTRL when clicking. Also, when I clicked the newly opened tab, it instantly closed. I noticed that pressing CTRL + Tab allowed me to swtich between tabs without them closing, so yay for me What was even weirder was that the virus/trojan not only affected Chrome, but also my desktop. I could no longer drag and drop to move files into a folder, and I can't move a single thing on my desktop (they'd return to their original place and not snap onto another grid/column/row).

Then I tried finding a solution, and came across two posts on Google support forums, describing the exact same problem as what I was facing (both were dated 2011):

So I recently was infected with something. I addition to all processes being slowed, my google chrome is unable to connect to any websites and my firefox and IE both redirect me to sites (http://www.momversation.com/episodes/dealing-miscarriage?f=1114 was one of the redirects...) and iTunes immediately shuts down when I start it up So I did the usual, ran ad-aware, anti spy, windows defender, norton, and they found some irrelevant tracking cookies, so I asked a friend who redirected me here. I ran dds.scr and attempted to run rootrepeal, but rootrepeal causes my system to freeze every single time and doesn't even give me a blue screen for a reference point as to why, so I have no root repeal log. Hello, I am hoping someone can help me with this. My sister was on my laptop today and mentioned that she could not add any attachments to her gmail account.

I tested it in her user account as well as mine and sure enough the browser would crash as soon as you would hit the "Browse" button to add any attachment. I have tried it in Internet Explorer 8.0; Firefox 3.0.11 and Chrome 2.0.172.31

I have also tried attaching files in Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail as well as my school account. I am running out of options. Does anyone know what might be the issue.

A:IE, Firefox and Chrome browser crash when adding attachments to email

In firefox and chrome it completely crashes the browser with firefox asking if you want send a report.

IE 8.0 gives an error message saying "A tab has been recovered. A problem with this web page caused Internet Explorer to close and reopen the tab"

I've searched in various forums but can't find anything addressing this issue.

I started to receive program crashes in the following applications:
Firefox (closes with Mozilla crash error when trying to print anything)
IE (Crashes when trying to print)
Chrome (Crashes when trying to print)
Adobe PDF (Crashes with encountered an error and needs to close error)
Photoshop (program will open but cannot do anything in it, then crashes)
InDesign (crashes right after opening)
iTunes (iTunesHelper.exe error at startup)

What is strange: I can print from any Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, etc.)

This issue started after updating my itunes/iphone with new version of itunes/iphone software. At the same time, I was doing a lot of work in Photoshop and InDesign.

What I've done to try to solve:
Deleted and re-installed print drivers
Deleted and re-installed iTunes
Deleted and re-installed Adobe Reader

What is also strange: When the print issue started crashing Firefox, I could still print from Chrome and IE. After I deleted and re-installed iTunes, I started encountering the same crash in Chrome and IE when trying to print.

Any help is appreciated!!!

When watching video on embedded player regardless of site the player crashes ( not the browser , just the player ) It says it's encountered a problem and needs to close and the little screen goes black with a puzzle shaped dazed face icon . This happens a whole lot with both Firefox and Chrome . I follow several news and anime series , and it's so much faster to play it at the site rather then download it and play it on GOM player . I have read that other people are having this problem as well . Can anybody help .

I can download Opera and Safari but they run really slow and tend to freeze up. Internet Explorer runs with no problem. My Outlook is starting to freeze up also. I have run Malwarebytes, Antispyware and haven't found anything. I looked over my HijackThis and can't find anything different also. Please find my DDS below. Hi, I have been having frequent BSOD issues recently. They usually occur while watching video content online or when I have multiple tabs open in Firefox. I have updated a number of drivers recently (after reading numerous other BSOD threads) and thought the problem was solved.. alas.. it is not.. Any help would be appreciated..

I have run chkdsk and memtest and found no errors I also ran prime95 to no avail..

I have uploaded my details as per the instructions.

Hope I have provided enough to assist.. FYI.. my cpu is actually a 3core which has been unlocked (but not overclocked). Ram has not been overclocked.

In addition, I have recently removed a e geforce 9600 gso video card and deleted the NVidia drivers.

I have also deleted and reinstalled the (most recent) AMD drivers for my on board video..

Thanks!

Hello there!

Even though you have multiple BSOD I can only find 1 dump files which was very vague. Don't run CCleaner or any other junk file removal since it tend to remove those dump files.

Enable Driver Verifier Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Drivers and post us with the updated dump files.

Run SFC Scan SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker since you have manipulated the processor it's best to reset the BIOS to factory settings.

When  playing *** on Facebook, my girlfriends week old Inspiron 23" 5348 freezes up(cursor doesn't show, no response from keyboard.) She ends up having to manually shutting it down.
When restarting the Dell Backup and Recovery screen comes on, asking if she wants to restore to factory settings or do a quick restore.
This has happened 3 times in three days, each time quick restore was chosen. There are no problems until she plays *** again.
Has anyone else ran into this problem or have an idea on how to fix it?

G'day guys,

My laptop was left on yesterday with numerous firefox tabs open (x20) for various websites, although no one was using the computer and this is a regular occurrence without fault until yesterday. I'd gone out fishing and noticed the BSOD and took this photo of the screen showing the full error as "stop 0x0000007A (0xc0487688, 0x3e5898c0, 0x96ed7e3e)"

I had altered the BSOD settings in the past to stop the laptop from restarting in order to have time to take note of the error codes in case of future failures, although I hadn't had any BSOD for over a year. The previous BSOD's were 0x000000d1 (netwLv32.sys) and 0x0000007e (Volsnap.sys), unlike those BSOD's, the one shown in the photo doesn't have a description other than the error code.

I had turned off the laptop while in BSOD, having completed dumping physical memory; subquent restarts were only reaching here followed promptly by a black screen with the flashing white underscore, which I could escape by alt+Ctrl+delete. At one point the laptop did load and somehow I was able to access System recovery options and selected startup repair, which I viewed the log prior to restarting and everything completed successfully and although I did restart the computer, I haven't been able to proceed further than the initial loading window or the defaulting black screen that follows.

I've tried running the BIOS setup utility, with the hard disk self test diagnostics, though this failed each time.

Not able to ... Read more
