Preferred Solution: Solved: mouse moving irradically, keyboard and mouse not working on restart, trojan?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I recently moved my desktop to another room, unplugging most of the devices along the way. Once everything was hooked back up, my wireless keyboard and mouse no longer worked. I tried everything and decided to buy a new USB mouse and keyboard set but they won't work either. I have Linux on the desktop as well and they work fine on that OS. They also work at startup. But as soon as Windows XP starts up, the light on the optical mouse goes out and the keyboard doesn't work. I can't log into Windows to check the drivers. I've tried many combinations of unplugging and replugging. I've tried disconnecting the power for various lengths of time. Nothings working.

If they are plugged into the front panel, check that the internal cable hasn't become dislodged.

Keyboard - AK1L
Mouse - AM1L
Receiver - AR1L

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

After about 1 minute the mouse scroll and keyboard stop working until I left click mouse. Tool bar on browser also greys out but comes back after left click. Video and sound also are choppy. Not sure if this is related. Flash keeps crashing. Any ideas whats wrong? Windows 7 pro. Asus desktop. This occurs on Firefox, Chrome and IE. This seemed to start after Microsoft update and Flash updates

A:Mouse scroll and keyboard stop working until left click of mouse

Hello mpmckee,

First run Antivirus, Malware, and Spyware scans. Remove anything the programs find.

Note: if you need some suggestions on which tools to use, let me know.

Afterwards, test functionally of mouse and keyboard.

If no change, run System Restore, choose a Restore point before the issue started.

Again test behavior of mouse and keyboard.

If the issue has been resolved, go ahead and reinstall windows Updates.

A friend's computer could not access the internet; Norton software noted updates were required.
Clicking to update didn't work, so I turned off the computer, unplugged the power cord, plugged the power cord back in, and restarted the computer.
When the computer came back on, the "ball" mouse plugged into the mouse port didn't respond. I then switched to an optical mouse and plugged it into a USB port. This mouse worked and I was able to connect to the internet.
Why didn't the original mouse work after I turned the computer off and back on?
Any ideas on why I was able to access the internet after turning the computer off and back on? (When I turned it back on I didn't get a message from Norton saying updates were needed).
Thank you.

Hey. Here's the poblem:

I'm using windows Vista 32bit...I recently updated my computer. After the update, my mouse wouldn't work. It's a PS/2 mouse. I unplugged it and replugged it. I restarted and replugged. I tried a USB mouse. I tried different ports. Nothing worked.

I used my keyboard to go to the control panel to see what the problem was. It said the mouse properties (in the registry) is corrupted or missing. I think it also said the problem was code 9 or something.

So I tried a system restore, to before the update was applied. (I've had more problems after windows updates than you could possibly imagine)

So after the restore, windows booted up normally. The mouse still didn't work, so I browsed the web to try to find solutions. I didn't change anything and I ended up restarting my computer and trying safe mode. The mouse still didn't work, so I went back to normal mode to try to uninstall the driver for my mouse. That was when my keyboard stopped. Then, the computer itself freezes. (both after about 2 minutes)
(if you're wondering how I would know the computer froze, it's because any window that is loading doesn't come up after the keyboard stops)

So now I go back to try safe mode. It freezes after about 2 minutes as well. I try the system repair boot option. The damned mouse works, but no window shows up. Just a black screen.

So I went back to normal boot (thinking the mouse will work) and nothing. I try to q... Read more

Put my computer back togethor today, and got it to power up after some troubleshooting.

One problem: Mouse and keyboard do not work.
They were both working fine minutes before on a different computer, so I know they work.
Im running a wireless mouse setup, so I tried a wired mouse and it still doesnt work.

I get a single "beep" when I disconnect the mouse from back panel, doesnt beep when I disconnect keyboard.

A:Solved: Mouse & Keyboard not working

This seem to be very annoying

1.Check if the wire of the wired mouse is well connected to the mouse port on your motherboard.

2. Check if the mouse port is well connected to the motherboard

3. Try to test it once more on the other computer as maybe when pluging out of the other computer or pluging in in the new one it may have been damage.

If it you retry it on the other PC and it work once more and on yours it don't then it maybe be a problem of humidity or the PC mouse and keyboard port on the motherboard get damaged.

For the beep it may be that there a problem on the motherboard mouse and keyboard port.

Try that I ask you if it still not working just come back and ask me I will try to find another solution...

Keep me updated on the problem

Hey y'all, I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software problem, so I'm posting here first and you can send me to the hardware forum if necessary.

I'm using a relatively new Acer TravelMate 2420 laptop. Every so often, the keyboard goes wonky - basically it will pick up about 4 characters, and then lose what is typed for about five seconds, and then pick up one key every second. It is not buffering, it is dropping the keys that are typed in the silent period. When this happens, the mouse continues to work and the computer is perfectly functional.

Here's the strange part - moving the touchpad mouse seems to refresh the keyboard - so if you press a key, move the mouse, press a key, move the mouse it is possible to type. (or just keep moving the mouse with one hand, and typing with the other.)

A reboot fixes the problem, most of the time, and then the problem resurfaces after about 8+ hours of operationwhich is what makes me think it may be a software problem.

The last time it happened, I plugged in a USB keyboard - it worked fine. After I unplugged the USB keyboard, the laptop keyboard was functional again. i.e. plugging and unplugging the USB keyboard restored functionality. (temporarily of course)

I've run AVG, AdAware, Spybot, HijackThis looks ok but I can't be sure. I've run SFC, no problems found. I've closed every running program via the task manager, makes no difference. Haven't tried stopping services though.

The laptop is under warranty an... Read more

Hi!

I have come upon a problem wherein my Microsoft Wireless MultiMedia Keyboard 1.1 (P/N
X801524-100) will not type (or for that matter, continue to register a button press) while I am moving any mouse. Note that the mouse need not be the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2000 (P/N X806939-007) that came with it.

The same issue does not occur with the manufacturer-supplied PS/2 keyboard when used in conjunction with any of my mice.

The issue occurs on Windows Server 2008 R2 (obtained from DreamSpark), with IntelliType and IntelliPoint software/driver suits installed, and on Windows Vista, where the mouse/keyboard are merely recognized as HID-compliant mouse/keyboard.

This issue is driving me crazy, as I can not play any of my games (obviously) as they often require me to move my mouse and keyboard at the same time.

Thanks in advance for any help - if you need additional information, ask and I will add it.

I just purchased a new PC with 16 GB of Ram and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. My USB mouse and keyboard stop working randomly and when the PC goes to sleep causing me to have to do a hard reset. I have researched this on the web and updated the USB hubs the devices to wake the computer but this has had no effect. My computer shop thinks that the problem is the 16 GB of RAM with Windows. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance.

The max RAM for Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit is 192GB so that's not the issue. Since you say "installed", we'll need the rest of your specs to determine the solution.

Hi People ,

I recently got a system with following configuration

Intel Desktop Board DH67VR Media Series,
Intel Core i3 processor -2100 LGA 1155
4GB Ram,
500GB HDD SATA,
LG DVD Player SATA,
PS2 Keyboard (thought the board doesn't have PS2 Slot for keyboard i have used PS2 to USB convertor),
USB Mouse

When installing Windows XP my keyboard is not working. When I was booting the system keyboard is working fine, I changed the Boot option in BIOS. But when the installation screen comes to "Enter" - to install, "R" to Repair and F3 to Exit. My keyboard is not responding.
I googled and i came across links to check Legacy USB Option enable/disabled, when i check in my BIOS it was Enabled.
Can any of you please let me know what could be the issue.

Thanks

Hi there!

I recently installed winsixaxis to get my ps3 controller working. But now my usb doesn't work at all. It works briefly before it enters windows but then my mouse and keyboard just lose power. I've tried going into safe mode but they also stop working there too.

Is there any solution?

A:[SOLVED] Mouse and keyboard not working after installing winsixaxis

I would suggest doing a system restore to a date before you installed winsixaxis. If a program does that much damage I would think twice about having it on my system.

Hi guys, the title pretty much sums up my problem. I've had this keyboard for 2 years and it worked fine until a few days ago when it just stopped working. The mouse works perfectly find.

I've checked device manager and it say the drivers are up to date and that the device is working properly. I've looked around on the internet and someone mentioned it might be keys that are stuck to the keyboard or something, so I've checked for that and problem is still there. I haven't tried to open the keyboard up to see if there's a problem cos i wouldn't know what I'm looking for.

The receiver doesn't have a reset button on it (I didn't notice one) so that method cant help me. I'm not sure the exact model of the keyboard as I'm in a different city due to term time and i cant remember if i retained the box or threw it away.

Is there anything else i can do? its a really good keyboard and I'm so used to it now, having to buy another one would be a pain

I can send images of the keyboard, receiver if needed!

Thanks!

I don't know why but suddenly in one of the computers with XP OS we were getting message "ntdlr is missing" and could not boot.

I removed the hard drive and attached it to another computer with XP os. I copied ntldr file from the working xp computer to the de-attached harddrive.

Then I put the hard drive back to the same computer and tried to boot. It successfully booted until login screen however the mouse and keyboard are not working. No matter which ports I change.

It has happened four times now, at seemingly random times.

I will be using the computer for a few hours, and the mouse & keyboard will stop working. The lights on my keyboard (capslock, numlock, scroll lock) will dimly flicker, but that is the only sign I have they are plugged in. I have been using this mouse and keyboard with this computer for well over a year without this issue.

I've tried different usb ports. The only way I have been able to fix it is pressing the power button on my case.

Since yesterday, I have scanned for virus, spyware, malware. Updated BIOS usb drivers, and windows updates. It has happened since I have done that.

My bios has these USB settings: USB Controllers, USB Legacy Function, USB Storage Function, R_USB30 Controller, F_USB30 Controller. All of which are currently enabled.

I went to a LAN party so I unplugged all my cables from the pc. When arriving at the lan party I plugged everything back in and booted into Vista Ultimate.
Everything was detected properly and I encountered no problems.
But when I got home again I wanted to boot into Windows XP Pro and that's where the problems started.

My USB Keyboard and USB mouse would not light up when I was in XP. The Install New hardware window popped up asking me to install "new" devices: "composite usb device".
You might understand that it's impossible to proceed this installation when you cannot use your mouse and keyboard.

Unfortunatly I do not have a PS/2 mouse or keyboard around.

How do I get my mouse and keyboard working again? (booting into "LAST KNOWN WORKING CONFIGURATION" does not work) and everything has been working fine for more than a year now, untill I unplugged them and probably plugged them into a different usb port (btw all my ports are 2.0).

Windows defender warned medium security risk, would I like it removed from my computer, which would require a restart to completly remove. Behind defender 'actmon' also required restart to install. I checked yes to defender and it proceeded with restart. It came back up, but now my mouse and keyboard won't work, nor will the ones I replaced them with off this, my friends computer. This is same friend that gave me computer, and thinks program probably free download from site called canadan content, allthough I cannot find it there. Active keyboard is what i got when I searched site. I have 6 recovery disks made when computer was newer, but o.s. came loaded, so no original xp disk available. Both disk drives still working, floppy didn't work when I got it. Should I use recovery disks, will they even work if I am not logged in? Tried control-alt-delete, f1, f10, f5,f8 delete, escape, powered it off with button, unplugged it, no effect at all. Computer goes into sleep mode after not logging in. Any suggestions, I am fairly new at this, though I have wanted a computer for a very long time. I am not financially able to have it repaired or replaced.

after my computer was not connecting to websites even though it was saying it was connected to the internet i decided to run a virus scan, it found nothing, and then restart my system. but after booting up my mouse and keyboard just suddenly stopped responding.

My mouse is a USB and my keyboard is a PS/2. whenever i unplugged the mouse and plugged it back in i would get a message saying that it was installing drivers for a new device but even with an internet connection it will fail every time. i can't unplug my keyboard because it has always required to be plugged in at start up in order to work.

after several restarts later i still got the same results. but what a did notice is right before windows boots up the red light from the laser on the bottom of the mouse will be on and then turn off once windows starts loading. the keyboards number lock will remain on the whole time and i cant turn it off. I then used 2 different USB mice and a USB keyboard that i could found around the house and get the same unresponsive results.

i have tried booting in safe mode while confirming that the keyboard works while in BIOS. once in safe mode i get the same results, no responding at all from either of them.

I am running on Windows 7, 3ghz AMD processor, with 2 gigs of RAM, and an almost full 250gb HDD.

please help, thanks.

Please please someone help.

I can find all over the internet five years worth of people that cannot watch videos, download, buffer, or even load pages unless they are constantly moving their mouse.

If I click a video on youtube or anything I have to tickle my mouse pad constantly or video freezes and only audio plays.

When downloading anything I have to constantly move mouse/cursor or it pauses.

Although this problem is raised in forum after forum, and question area - not one of them has the answer - and the threads just get closed off. Can anyone actually answer this one?

Did anyone anywhere ever get this sorted and can they come back and say what they did to resolve it please?

New laptop, only a few months old - Windows Seven Home Premium.

Scanned and nothingthere wrong - as did everyone else.

Please do not close the thread until we get a solution...

I have an interesting problem.

The laptop I'm working on (And HP G series; running Windows 7 64bit Home Premium) had a NASTY trojan that disabled the keyboard and mouse (is what I'm assuming). I was able to work on the laptop with a USB mouse and the onscreen keyboard

After going through about 10 AV software I finally got rid of all the Trojans (the scans on various AV software ran clean multiple times after removal); but the keyboard and trackpad continue to be disabled.

Under the Device Manager it lists as the device as a "code 10" error.

Doing some Googling I found a post that said do delete the registry entries that were labeled "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters"; which I did and I rebooted.

Now my USB mouse OR my USB keyboard won't work.

I tried using a Linux Live CD and the trackpad and keyboard DOES work there no problem. Also the keyboard works fine when I'm in the BIOS.

It's only when I'm in Windows (even in Safe Mode) that the keyboard/trackpad/USB Mouse/USB Keyboard doesn't work...so it's not a hardware problem.

Things I've tried (besides deleting those registry entries)

- Startup Repair
- sfc /scannow
- Reinstall the drivers (when I DID have access to Keyboard and Mouse)

So to recap; I cannot use the keyboard/trackpad (or a USB Mouse and USB Keyboard) in Windows (including safe mode); but they DO work when not using Windows.

Anything else I can try?

I recently opened my Aula Ghost Shark gaming mouse, and it didn't work at first. Later, after being plugged in for quite some time, idle, it started working. After not too long, the mouse suddenly moved down and left regardless of input, and would only move slightly before jutting back to my start button (not locking to it, just moving to the corner). After trying some more fixes, such as System Restore, Troubleshooter, and disabling/enabling the mouse with the Control Panel in and out of Safe Mode, I realized this:

My mouse will work (occasionally, but certainly not guaranteed by simply turning the mouse driver on and off), but only on what seems to be a timer. It will work, then move down and left harshly, then stop. I assume it stops because it does at times when I start the computer, I can't see it at the bottom left of my screen.

Any help is very much appreciated and I'm happy to answer any questions to help clarify what my situation is!

Ok so need to fix a Dell Latitude the mouse pointer seems to be all over the place it moves on its own sometimes it stops other times it starts again. Im figuring its most likely something resting under the mousepad/ Joystick thing (yes it has one of those) and just causing it to go all over the place. Second thought is that it could be drivers anyone ever had this problem before?

A:Solved: Mouse Moving

Two things you can try. First go into Device Manager and uninstall the mousepad drivers under Mice and Pointing devices. The mouse will then freeze so you need to do a hard shutdown by pressing on the power button, then boot back up and the drivers will re-install.

If that makes no difference go into the Control Panel and find Mouse. In the mouse settings there will be a tab under which you can adjust the sensitivity on the mousepad, see if it helps the problem by reducing it to a lower setting.

Hey everyone,

I've tried a few forums and received no help so I'm hoping I've found my place..

I have a Logitech G11 keyboard and a Logitech G5 mouse. Both are USB. They worked fine up until about 3 weeks ago. Both the mouse and keyboard work perfectly fine during BIOS. I can run the setup commands and all that jazz fine. However, once windows boots (I'm running on Windows 7 Home) neither work. The lights on both aren't on and there is no response.

I've thought about the possibility of it being the USB ports but it is not, the keyboard and mouse work fine in other PCs, it detects my external harddrive when I plug it in, and USB keyboards and mice are equally unresponsive once windows is booted. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

PS, if it is a driver problem, how am I supposed to get new drivers without a working mouse or keyboard? This is an aggravating problem because I've replaced every piece of hardware inside my case in the last 6 months except my video card, and some small problem like this always seems to keep my machine from working at all.
