I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Well I figured that the "Activation errors" issue would crop up when a new update like this come out - my guess that many people would be doing the upgrade at once.

Blue Screen of Death errors on install: How many of those checked to see if they need to remove some software before the upgrade? Or rather do clean install.

Tried to upgrade from Windows Update as well as using the Media Creator Tool by downloading from the Microsoft website, neither of them works. In the end, I got an error code "0xC1900101 - 0x20017", and a message "The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation." I have every driver and OS software updated to-date. I do have Ubuntu installed as a dual-boot OS and Macrium Reflect configured as a recovery software from the boot, which might have caused the problem. I encountered this issue a while ago with the Spring Creator Update (see here), and I fixed it by deleting the Ubuntu booting partition, which I definitely want to avoid! I searched on Google, similar issued happened for HP laptops and was related to the BIOS driver. Does anyone know if this issue is related to the Thinkpad BIOS setting or something we have to wait for Lenovo to fix? Any solution to this issue? Thanks.

I was previously running the Window 10 spring creator's update without issue on my Yoga 910. However, after the fall creator's update (1709) the fan is VERY loud when plugged into AC power. When running on battery, it's whisper quiet. All BIOS/Software/drivers are up to date, and I've rebooted numerous times. Power mode slider is set to either all the way to the left (power saver) or one notch to the right. At times with the high fan usage, the system seems bogged down and very slow to respond to keystrokes. Task manager doesn't reveal anything super obvious using high CPU time.

Hi,

I have recently been pushed the Windows 10 Fall Creator Edition (Build 1709) and after installation I cannot get any HDMI output (connected to an Acer S240HL screen) - I see an "input not suppoorted" message on the Acer monitor. If I roll back to a pre-1709 build the display works.
I have the Intel HD 620 Video driver 22.20.16.4799 installed, although I also rolled this back to the current version on the Dell site (Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver_1H6KX_WIN_21.20.16.4627_A04.exe) before a second attempt at a reinstallation of Fall Creator.
Has anyone seen anything similar, or a workaround?

As soon as I installed the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update the computer will not awake from sleep.  It is not a laptop, so this should not be complicated by the power settings applicable to laptops/battery settings, etc.  It will go to sleep, then when I try to wake it using the keyboard or mouse as usual, the screen stays black, then it does a complete reboot.  All drivers for MoBo, video, sound etc are up to date.
Ideas?

Hello, After updating to Creator (version 1703, build 15063.138) I experience the following problems:1) All USB ports do no longer work. In the device manager, it is possible to update the listed USB drivers and to (de-)activate as well as to uninstall the USB ports - but without result. My original idea was to reinstall the former USB drivers, but unfortunately I couldn't find them neither on the HP nor on the Intel website.2) On the Desktop, the icons in the bottom row are moved (sometimes at irregular intervals) to arbitrary other places at the desktop after starting the laptop.I'd be grateful for any suggestions how to solve these problemes. Kind regards,Frank

I just discovered this problem when Myrti and I were working on some other problems on my computer. I noted that I'd gotten an 'update failed' several times lately. It said 'Some updates could not be installed. The following updates were not installed. MS.NetFramework 1.1 Service Pack 1 Security Update for windows 2000, XP, Vista, 2008, Windows7 and Windows Server 2008R2 (KB953297).' The error code was 0X64C.

I checked back in my logs and found that my computer has been attempting this update since October 2009!

When I tried manually at the Microsoft site, it said I needed to upload ActiveXControl, which I did. It still couldn't successfully update that security.

I have the log. Would you like for me to attach? I just did it a few days ago.

Thanks,
Sue Ellen

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update phased rollout approach - Windows Experience Blog

You better wait

The company recommends users to wait for the Fall Creators Update to be offered via Windows Update, though there?s no estimate as to how much this wait could last as it all depends on the number of bugs and issues that the company finds in the new OS version.Click to expand...

You might not have been offered the upgrade, because of the software/hardware you have. Like AMD causing black screen during boot.

I found that applying the Fall Update fixed a number of problems and was certainly a lot less hassle than doing a clean install.
For example: boot up times on my Windows 10 Pro X64 system had been getting longer and longer; this problem disappeared after I applied the fall update.

As with the Creators Update, the key to our phased approach is actively listening to all available feedback mechanisms and making the appropriate product updates during the rollout. This allows us to provide a high-quality experience for the broadest set of users at an accelerated rate, while also continually increasing the quality and security of Windows 10. This was our approach with the Creators Update released in April and user feedback on this approach was very positive.

For the best experience, we recommend you wait until Windows 10 is automatically offered to your device. You don?t have to do anything to get the update; it will roll out automatically to you through Windows Update if you?ve chosen to have updates installed automatically on your device. Once the download is complete and the update is ready to install, we?ll check with you, so you can pick the right time to finish the installation and reboot. We do this so we can ensure the update does not disrupt you, and we use active hours to help suggest a good time.

If you don?t want to wait for the update to roll out to you, you can manually check for updates on your personal PC using the steps below. This will only work if your device is eligible to get the Fall Creators Update as part of the initial roll out phase. Alternatively, you can manually get the update today via the Software Download Site. This option is only recommended for advanced users on devices running a licensed version of Windows 10. If ... Hi,

I'm afraid the fall creators update is not completing on my PC. I have tried through Windows Update, Windows update assistant, and through the media creation tool. I have tried SFC/scannow (no errors), running the update trouble shooter (and allowing errors to be corrected), and also stopping my Panda AV.

In all cases, at some stage, the computer will freeze, and require a hard stop and reboot. When I have done this a couple of times, then windows is unable to complete the upgrade and reverts to my previous installation - which is working fine.

Is there anything else I should be trying please. I am loath to wipe and reinstall, as it would take me days to reinstall my programs (assuming I can find the CDs or files), but I fear it may come down to that. Also, if I do have to resort to that, given that this PC was upgraded from W8, what do I do about serials?

Sorry to be a pest.

I would like to comment on the Fall Creator's Edition Update of Windows 10!  This has to be one of the biggest disasters that Microsoft has ever accomplished.  As one can see from the various problems encountered after the install this update was not well designed, was not thoroughly quality controlled and now has the support staff scrambling to figure out how to answer all of the issues that it caused.  Here is my list of issues after the update:  Mail and Calendar programs missing from Start Menu, Control Panel Apps shows them to be installed but I cannot add to start menu and cannot start either program.  Several other Apps also missing from Start Menu including Amazon, Adobe Reader and most other third party Apps but also several more Microsoft Apps or Windows Programs.  Files missing:  Somehow during the install Microsoft decides to remove the pointers from the Pictures and Documents folders so that it appears all previous files in these locations are lost.  By navigating thru Users...Documents I was able to retrieve all of the files but how many novice or new users are going to know how to do this type of trouble shooting?  This is a bonafide nightmare for Microsoft and takes me one step closer to trading in all of Dell computers for Macs!  It cannot possibly be worse than two days of troubleshooting and researching how to get back to the same functionality I had before installing the latest Windows 10 Update!  ... I agree.  In my opinion Windows 10 is nothing but an Operating System that is perpetually in Beta status with millions of people acting as testers.  I know understand why Microsoft wants constant information from your computer.  It seems that every time there is a big update in the spring or fall, they have to wreck everything.  Oh well I still enjoy my XPS with 8.1 and my iMac ;p

I have installed the Windows 10 creators update. After the first reboot the start menu/search bar did not work. Uninstalled one by one rebooting after each one. VoodooShield, Appguard, Adguard, Emsisoft in that order. Only after uninstalled Emsisoft did the start menu start working again. Reinstalled one by one with Emsisoft last. After the first reboot with Emsisoft the start menu stopped working again. Uninstalled Emsisoft only went back to Windows Defender and Start menu started working again after each reboot.

The Windows 10 fall update was rolled out yesterday, but I have yet to see it. Every time I "check for updates", it says my machine is up to date. Is this a gradual roll-out? Just wanted to see if others out there are also still waiting.

A:Anyone else still waiting for the Windows 10 fall update?

Yes, many are waiting for the Windows Update to appear..
But there is no need to wait for it.. You can download the ISO and run the upgrade yourself...
by running setup.exe from within your current OS
