T570 with Lenovo thunderbolt dock powering 2 4K Lenovo monitors

Q: T570 with Lenovo thunderbolt dock powering 2 4K Lenovo monitors

Hello, My company recently purchased a dual 4k setup for a work station. The setup is the following:2 ThinkVision P27 monitorsLenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 DockT570 (Type: 20HA) I setup the monitors and docking station yesterday and was able to power the displays using a X1 Carbon 5th gen (i5 model type: 20HQ) thru USB-C without issue. I have a user testing out the desk now with a T570. I'm able to get one monitor to funtion at 4K and the other is running at 1080p. If you check display settings I'm unable to increase the resolution to 4K. I've updated all drivers on the T570 including the display driver and thunderbolt docking station driver this morning and the system still fails to power dual 4K. I brought back the X1 I used previously and it powers the screens normally. I checked the specs of the T570 and its identical to the X1 as far as processor is concerned and the model page claims the USB-C port on the T570 can power dual 4K. What else can I try?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I own a Thinkpad T480 (20L5: Intel UHD graphics, Core i5 8th gen) and since it supports Thunderbolt 3, I want to attach an external GPU and display for light gaming. I see that Lenovo itself has a "Lenovo Thunderbolt Graphics Dock" but does not offer that as compatible with the Thinkpad series. Nevertheless, as Thunderbolt 3 is a standard, I am wondering if the Graphics Dock works with the T480. Did anybody already try that?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone have any experience with the Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Graphics Dock and if it works with the X1 Gen6 Carbon?  I did see it's been optimized for the IdeaPad 720S 13-inch 8th Gen Intel processor but would like to know if it works with other models too. It would be a weird limitation to lock it down to only one computer.. Thanks!

Hello, We have been fighting a new Lenovo Yoga X1 + new Thunderbolt 3 Dock+ new LVO T22I-10 21.5IN 1920X1080 LED MON for 2 months.  We've updated all drivers and bios on the Yoga - up to date as recently as yesterday.   Still every day, the client sits her Yoga on the desk, plugs in the lightning cable, waits and 90% of the time, the external monitor does not come on.  We've tried VGA cable and Displayport cables.  Neither work.  What is the deal with this?  Is it just defective?  This completely new computer set up shouldn't be such a hassle.  Please advise.

Hello just got both laptop and dock today. I tried to set the dock up but I have had no luck. I downloaded the driver and firmware for dock and attempted initially to install the firmware but the cmd window was closing without rebooting the pc as expected. I then tried to install the graphics dock driver and then connecting the dock. This did not work as well. Out of ideas does anybody know of a trick or sequence of steps to get instalation completed ? Let me mention that the laptop is pretty current in drivers. Lenovo drivers has been updated using the Lenovo Vantage app and also windows 10 is current with latest and greatest. Your help and support is appreciated

I have T570 and two same "thinkpad ultra dock" docking stations - one at the office and the other at home- with two monitors connected on each of them (DP & HDMI). At the office, I close the lid (2 screens) and at home I keep it opened (3-screen setup). A while ago it started flickering / blanking external monitors on *both* of them. Sometimes, when computer is left locked for some time (sleep is disabled!) external monitors are blanked and I can only revive them by removing + attaching the laptop to the dock again. I tried firmware updates on dock, driver updates on windows / lenovo... nothing helps. Windows 10, latest updates. I find it weird that two docks would go bad almost simultaneously. What else can I try - it is driving me crazy as I cannot work normally (sometimes it blinks like every minute or so but other times it is OK for more than an hour)?

Checking to see if anyone has had this issue. We have 5 T570 20JW, running the most current verison of Windows 10Pro and since Yesterday (9/18/17), whenever a user undocks their laptop and then redocks it the external monitors do not turn back on and Windows does not recognize the 2 displays either. The only way we have been able to get them to show back up is to either reseat one or both of the monitor cables from the dock or put the laptop into sleep mode and then wake it backup using the docking station power button. It's not the displaying drivers causing the issue, at least not directly as we have tried the most current and the last release and neither fix the issue and as I stated this just started on 9/18 and the most current drivers are a few months old now. My only guess is that it's one of the 5 lenovo updates that where installed yesterday or the latest bios update (See the attached picture). I haven't had the chance yet to uninstall each of the 5 updates because I will need to go download the last version of each of them first, but wanted to see if any one else has had this happen and to forwarn anyone that has one to be careful with the most current updates. Thanks, Joseph

I have a Lenovo T570 (Type 20JW, 20JX) Laptop (ThinkPad) and ThinkPad Basic Dock (40A00000WW).   I have a monitor plugged into the VGA connection on the docking station.  I have another monitor connected to my laptop with HDMI.  When the laptop is docked, the display will show on the laptop and the monitor connected to the dock.  The monitor connected via HDMI goes black.  When the laptop is off the dock, the HDMI monitor works.  Is there a way to get both monitors to work without having to buy a different docking station?  I know the ideal situation would be to get a different dock with 2 connections on it, but I was hoping not to have to pay for another dock.

And if so, is that 3 external plus laptop? Or is the laptop screen on of the 3?

Hello all, I am a solutions architect trying to solve an issue which I have never heard of before. Though others users are having this same issue, my experience has been different then what they have seen. First,The following are the Security options for Thunderbolt devices as per user guide

No Security: Allow Thunderbolt devices to be connected automatically.
User Authorization: Allow Thunderbolt devices to be connected after user authorization.
Secure Connect: Allow Thunderbolt devices to be connected with a saved key that has been approved by the user.
Display Port and USB: Allow only DisplayPort-compatible devices and USB devices to be connected. Thunderbolt devices are not allowed to be connectedI don't think this is entirely true or at least does not apply properly each time. My scenario:T480, T580, or Yoga x1 3rd genImaging with a standalone MDT environmentDevices come pre-configured from Lenovo with Thunderbolt 3 Security Options set to "User Authentication" Installing all the drivers in the latest SCCM driver packs that Lenovo offers - though the x1 3rd gen driver pack was missing on the site this morning. On some devices, this security option seems to do absolutely nothing. MDT uses the local "Administrator" account to perform post-OS items. I'd say about 75% of the devices reach their destination and the user logs in for the first time as a user, not an admin, and the dock functions properly; monitors/mice/keyboard/etc. work. 25% of ... Does the Thinkpad P51s support the Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock? I have the Thinkpad P51s with stock Windows 10 Pro and updated to latest drivers and Windows version and installed the latest Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock drivers. Attaching the Thunderbolt 3 Dock to the P51s as described in documentation, it charges the notebook, however, noting attached to the dock is recognized. I've tested with attaching USB flash drives, headphones, Ethernet, HDMI, and DP, but nothing is recognized nor are any warnings/errors displayed in Windows. While the Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock is listed as being compatible with the P51s and T570, the notebook order page does not list the Thunderbolt 3 Dock in any of the accessories lists. Lenovo Sales also confirmed that the Thunderbolt 3 Dock is fully compatible with the P51s.  However, I needed to purchase the Thunderbolt 3 Dock separately from the notebook order. What's going on? Has anybody successfully used the P51s or the T570 with the Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock? Or is this something I need to wait for full support via a future BIOS/driver update? Or perhaps my Thunderbolt 3 Dock is defective? Thanks,Boris

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

From this all it seems to me, my notebook somehow forgot it can use Bluetooth.  Any advice will be appreciated )

Good Morning. I have an issue with a T570 laptop's trackpoint BUTTONS. Machine is running Windows 7 Pro. When the "generic" Microsoft Compatible PS2 driver is installed, the Trackpoint and 3 Buttons work with no issues, however you lose all gestures on the touchpad. When any version of the Synaptics driver I can get my hands on is installed, the Trackpoint continues to work, however the 3 buttons die. The trackpoint check box in the UltraNav settings tab is checked. If I uncheck, the trackpoint stops working (as would be expected). Checking it again allows the Trackpoint to work but the buttons remain dead. Without being too long winded I do want to throw out there that this laptop is in an Enterprise environement and was imaged using a build from T560.If the Windows 7 OS that came from the factory is left on the machine, the Trackpoint buttons function with no issue.Note that the driver versions of both the MS Compatible PS2 driver and the Synaptics driver between the Factory image and the Enterprise image are the same. I'm sure the solution is buried in the registry somewhere, just not sure what to change or delete entirely to get the buttons reenabled. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

We just got a 570 in today.  It's got an i5 7500u, don't know the storage capacity because it's a demo unit that was lended to us for a few weeks.  When I boot into the BIOS it doesn't show any drives.  When I use boot manager it only has PCIe LAN or Windows Boot Manager.  When selecting Windows Boot Manager nothing happens it goes back to that screen.  I can boot to WDS (where we have an image for the 570 with the 6500u) and it didn't see any volume.  I thought okay that's fine I'll boot from a Windows 10 USB.  I get the exact same issue.  I've messed around with secure boot, changed legacy and uefi settings.  The only thing I haven't done is open the machine up to see if there's even a drive inside.  Anybody have any other options I could try?

We've got a T570 that we're going to use for a standard image but we have just one minor problem.  The home page is set to our intranet page, but whenever we click on the home button in IE (we have to use IE) it opens an additional Lenovo home page tab.  You can hover over the home page button and it's got our intranet page.  You can click the down arrow next to it and it's got our intranet page.  When you check the IE settings you cannot find Lenovo anywhere in the homepage area.  Just not sure why it might be doing this and if there's maybe some registry key or something we're missing.  We're also running Windows 7 Pro.

Hello Lenovo, I work daily on my Lenovo Thinkpad T570 and I am very satisfied with the machine. However, there is quite an irritating problem with the laptop. The fact is, that my laptop runs Windows 10 October build 1809 and runs the newest driver from Lenovo for the Intel GPU.That is version: 24.20.100.6344.This driver version causes a lot of screen flickering on a screen connected through the HDMI port.Intel has released a new driver. Version: 25.20.100.6444.To solve the problem, Lenovo has to push this new driver. Do others also experience this problem with this driver that is known to be faulty with the October update?
