I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,  I have an X1 yoga gen 2 since a bit more than a year, I like this laptop but to be honest there are a few annoying quirks. Pen not working properly since day one, keys marking the screen, disappointing battery, but that not why I am posting today, since the last 6 months, when then pushed the vantage software the battery threshold setting are not really saved, it works for a day or two and then revert back to off, charging the battery to 100%. I read it happen for other people after reaching 0% battery but that is never my case as I rarely go under 20%  Any help would be appreciated. I am now out of warranty, so I would like to keep the battery healthy?

I've been troubleshooting slightly higher than expected power usage on my P70. Yesterday, the Lenovo Settings app Battery Charge Threshold displayed a slider that I could adjust.To-day, it does not. There was both a "Runtime Application Reconfiguration" for the Lenovo Power Manager to-day and Lenovo System Interface Driver install/reconfiguration mentioned in the Reliability Monitor. I'm looking at a battery that's sitting at 75% (not charging)- when it should be charging to 80%.Any ideas? I'd like to have a charging threshold.

Not sure where I'd submit a bug report, has anyone else experienced the following? I have my charging thresholds set to 80% in Lenovo Companion for my T470. However, it seem like half the time it will end up charging one or both batteries to 100%. What seems to happen is it charges to 80%, and it might sit there for a little while, and then a battery creeps to 81%, at which point it then gets charged to 100%. I'm assuming the code behind the threshold portion of the program is saying if charge == threshold rather than if charge >= threshold to determine when to cut the charging off.

I find it very disappointing to see the new version of Vantage lose the one-click battery threshold toggle button from its pop-up menu. At the very least make it an option in the new Quick Settings category. This is a big step backwards in UX for the sake of a "prettier" design.

I installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 on my X1 Extreme and everythnig works flawlessly so I'd rather not install additional software like the Lenovo Vantage.Since the laptop is connected to my Lenovo TB3 dock most of the time, is there a way to lower the 95% battery charging threshold without using Vantage? A battery management command line tool perhaps? Also what would the ideal threshold be in my case?

My P51 battery is set to start charging when below 80% and stop charging at 95%.  (Lenovo Companion> Hardware Settings> Power> Battery Charge Threshold> Start Charging When Below 80%> Stop Charging at 95%).  I have my P51 plugged in all the time.  The battery always stays at 95% charged, it never reduces down to below 80% and then automatically recharges back up to 95%.  Obviously the P51 will run the battery down when unplugged and then when plugged back in it will recharge back up to 95% capacity and stay there. My older T530 had the same settings as my new P51 does but it honors the charging perameters  set by the T530's Lenovo Companion's Charging Threshold....The battery charge gradually reduces to below 80% and then it automatically recharges back up to 95%...Thus "exercising the battery".                       My question is two fold...1.  Why doesn't the P51 perform the same way that the T530 does using the same Charging Thresholds?2.  Isn't it beneficial for a Lithium Battery to vary it's charge vs. staying charged always at the same level? Curious...Altoid666

A:P51 Battery Charge Threshold

My guess is that the power management works the same.  Probably, the T530's cells are slowly losing charge over time and when it gets below 80% it charges.  The new battery cells probably lose charge also, but MUCH more slowly.  When it gets below 80%, it will charge.  If you want to vary the charge level, unplug it for a few minutes, occasionally.  I think Lithium cells degrade over time, but I think the degredation speed has more to do with ambient temperature and number of recharge cycles.

It's great that Lenovo Vantage cares about the lifespan of our batteries and offers us a choice of charge threshold.  But it offers no guidance what maximum level to set, except that it should be less than 100%.  Lenovo must have studied the effect of maximum charge on battery lifespan, and I wish it would share that information with us.  Higher maximum offers a convenience for most users, but they might be willing to trade some of that convenience for some increase in battery lifespan.  We need data in order to decide.  For example, does even setting the maximum at 95% have significant livespan advantage vs. setting maximum at 100%?  Without knowing such things we're just bumbling in setting battery charge threshold.

Hi! I have X1C 5th 20HR. I was using it with the Windows 10 Pro which came built in. I was using it with the battery charge threshold option (95%).After that, I switched to Ubuntu and clean installed it. I tried to change it (charge threshold) also with Ubuntu, but I failed. The battery was only charging up to 94 % all the time. I was okay with it.Yet, after several months, I had to change back to Windows. Now I have Win10 Pro again, but this time, whenever I try to set up a threshold, it is set for several seconds, and after that, it turns itself off automatically. I tried it like 30 times already with a different threshold, with different levels of battery charge, almost with an empty battery, but no result. Is this behavior expected? How can I fix it? I will attach my attempt as GIF file

Hi there, I just got my new Thinkpad X1 Tablet (gen3) and got some problem when using Battery Charge Threshold in the Lenovo Vantage app. I have set the Threshold to stop charging at 80% and start charging again at 75%. Hi,I just activated battery "charge threshold" mode (with the default 80-85%). Let's say I need to charge the battery to 100% once a week, how do I do that without changing the threshold in Vantage? Thank you!

A:How to do a full charge when "charge threshold" mode is activated

You can turn off chargin threshold.  It should fully charge.  Then turn back on charging threshold afterwards.  I've done that on Thinkpads before.  Turn off charging threshold and once charged to 100% for a out of office business appointment then turn back on charging threshold.  A little error message pops up in vantage that something to the effect charging threshold wont take effect until battery level is below threshold limit.  The thresholds are still stored from when you turn charging threshold off and back on in Vantage.

Beware the Lenovo Vantage app. My PC (Carbon X1 gen 6) started to auto wake up every weekday morning at 05:30 from hibernate, even when I was away on holiday. I had a frustrating time trawling through scheduled tasks, power plan settings and device power settings, all to no avail. The powercfg sleep study and wake timer diagnostics did not help either - it just said unknown wake reason. The culprit? It's Lenovo's own app - Lenovo Vantage. There is a (new?) feature called Smart Standby that automatically set itself to ON. This automatically wakes your computer every weekday at 05:30 ready for work. It must save all of 10 seconds start up on my laptop. I've turned it off and hurrah, the PC stays hibernated. Also it fixes another issue - I found that the "Hibernate After" time setting was being changed from my value. Yes, Lenovo Vantage was silently zapping that too. So beware this dangerous app. Shame on Lenovo for turning this feature on by default and not explaining its consequences better.

Hello together, I'm using a new Thinkpad L380 for about 4 weeks and have been experiencing battery drain issues when off since the first day. After all possible corrections found on this forum (Bios Update, Win10 QuickStart, Managment Foundation... and some more) it now comes down to a final observation:When I shut down the computer and the battery threshold in Lenovo Vantage is off, it will keep its charge for two or more days without loosing a single percent of battery charge. If I shut off the computer with battery threshold activated (e.g. after using it at a docking station), the charge will decrease by approx. 6% every 12 hours, so after a weekend without use more than 30% of the battery charge has disappeared. I was very surprised to find out, that this for sure is the only remaining issue, but I can repeat it over and over again and everytime I deactivate the battery threshold function, my battery will keep its charge when shut down. Is there any solution or improved Lenovo Vantage functionality (current is 4.12.13) known or to be expected to solve this issue? Thank you for any helpful reply

I am using Lenovo Vantage on my T580 to  enable charging limit to 80% (on both batteries - I have normal 24Wh secondary pack). Today, I wanted to charge my laptop to 100% because I am going on trip without AC, so I disabled battery limiter feature in Lenovo Vantage, but only secondary (removable) battery charged to 100%. Internal battery stay on 80%.  This seems like major software bug. Only way to resolve it (kinda) right now is to remove removable battery and set limit to 100% in Lenovo Vantage. Even after doing this, my internal battery stopped charging at 97% (battery icon no longer have animation of charging) and I am getting 1% per hour. After 3 hours of charging without second battery I am still on 98% So how am I supposed to charge both my batteries to 100% now? Is this some kind of joke in addition to MX150 throttling problems? This model really starting to piss me off... PS: BIOS and all recommended drivers are up to date. Checked today.

I have saved a T60p, a T61 and a W510 from scrapping, partly replaced battery, CPU, RAM and changed to a SSD and successfully installed Windows 10 x64 version 1709 onto them. As least the T61 and W510 are now quite useful. Then I remembered that Thinkpads did have a Power Manager for Windows 7, and found that for Windows 10 Lenovo Vantage from the Windows Store seems to be the best option. Unfortunately, since installing Vantage, after hibernating Windows 10, the battery drains about 20% over 24 hours, and I have not found any explanation for that.Interestingly, the battery does not drain after hibernating when:o) I remove and reinsert the battery for a few secondso) power on, booting into Ubuntu and doing a shutdowno) I do a shutdown instead of hibernatingI really would like use Vantage to define a charging threshold from about 40% to 80% to enhance the life of the (new) batteries, but the described significant draining during hibernation is unacceptable. Does anyone know a solution for this problem (3 different laptops experience the same problem, even when just installing Windows 1709 and Vantage)? Thanks a lot!

Hello!I'm having really weird problem with Lenovo Vantage app. Pretty much all the features concerning the battery turn off on it's own after like 30sec to 1min from launching them.I've aquaired E470 just recently, got fresh installation of Windows 10, installed all the useful drivers and on the end I installed the Lenovo Vantage app. I wanted to set some battery threshold but I couldn't get it working - it has been turning itself down all the time after like minute or so - I did what it asked me to do - I drained the battery below the wanted threshold but it didn't help. Although I manged somehow (even when it turned off in app) to get 80% threshold but after a week or so without using the laptop when I tried to get it work again it didn't.The second thing is that the battery gauge reset also turns off itself after a minute or so - without any message. I updated the BIOS but I didn't test it yet - I'm draining the battery right now to check the threshold.

Hi, I do have a really annoying issue with the Battery Gauge in the taskbar. My Taskbar is set up to autohide.Everytime the percentage in the Battery Gauge drops (not tested during charging so far) to the next figure (e.g. 80% to 79%) the taskbar appears for a second and hides after that. This is super annoying because it shifts the focus away from any window I am working in.ßEspecially if I write something I type and nothing happens, sometimes the cursor does not even focus in the window I was in after the taskbar autohides again. I did test to disable "Battery related messages" but no luck.I did unpin the battery gauge from the taskbar and never had this issue again so I assume that this is caused by the Lenovo Vantage app. Current "Lenovo Vantage" app version is: 4.27.32.0 Is this a know issue?Any ideas how to fix this and still keep the battery gauge in the taskbar? Thank you very much.

Okay so I have a 6 month old G51-35 Laptop that I've been using for gaming. Then earlier this morning when I was playing, the battery went down to 25%. I plugged it in and it didn't charge. I wondered why, and then I thought the power in the outlet was just not flowing so I'll just plug it into a different one later, and as soon as it hit 10% I panicked. I kept searching up solutions, but nothing popped up. So I then told my brother, by the time the laptop was at 1%, and he did some tests on the laptop. A couple hours later he told me that he doesn't know what the problem is, and so I started really freaking out. I searched up the prices for a new battery pack, but there wasn't anything for the g51-35. I then looked at the laptop prices, and it was a whole load of bull because the laptop itself cost $559. My parents would kill me if they found out, but I don't know what to do next. I think the laptop is overheated, but I don't have the tools to be able to clean it. Please help. Thanks.

Hi CheekyB and welcome to the community,

If it does, then it probably is a bad battery and there is a year warranty on the battery.

In this first screenshot of Lenovo Vantage running under Windows 10 (64) on my X1 Yoga (1st generation), please notice where it says that I need to install Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105.  However, in the second screenshot, please notice where the Installation History shows that Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105 was successfully installed already. Everytime I boot up and run Lenovo Vantage to check for updates, it tells me that I need Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105 so I let it install it. Everytime I install it, the installation appears to be successful and my computer reboots, but then after rebooting, Lenovo Vantage again tells me that (1) I need it, (2) I already have it. This is crazy.  In the third screenshot (looking at Windows Device Manager) I see the Sierra Wireless EM7455 Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A. The fourth screenshot shows that it is disabled.  I will enable this and then retry to install the updated. I'll report back in a second posting on this thread whehter it works.  (I would leave this posting open and finish it later, but I'm afraid it woud all be lost when I reboot).

After enabling the driver in Windows Device Manager, then again trying to update, the update was successful. After another reboot, Lenovo Vantage no longer show that this needs to be updated.  I'm no programmer, but it seems to me that the Lenovo Vantage update program ought to be able to see whether a driver is disabled and to tell the user to enable it in order to allow successful of updating of the driver. My 2¢.
