Internet Explorer Won't Load Images on New Site

Q: Internet Explorer Won't Load Images on New Site

I have 20 images that were created to be same size, format, etc. and uploaded to my server directory.

In Chrome and FF, 20 of 20 display properly. In IE, 6 of 20 will not display and only display a red X. The response code is 206, Partial content.

The web server is Apache 1.3. Have tried with IE 8 in 3 different machines and none of them work.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Preferred Solution: Internet Explorer Won't Load Images on New Site

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I wanted to thank etavares in the forum, "Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs" for helping me with another computer. The problem I have is as I click on Internet Explorer and I'm surfing on the internet. Whenever I'm on a website, if the webpages have pictures, images and videos on them, it doesn't seem to display them. Some examples are youtube, facebook, news websites, any entertainment websites, any of the search engines main websites, virtually any websites that have images, pictures and videos on them. Also, whenever I try to download a program and/or application from the internet, nothing happens, it doesn't want to download them. I was using one of those free registry cleaners that I had downloaded from the internet and I think that I somehow must of accidently deleted some DLL'S and some registry keys that weren't supposed to be deleted. Or maybe it's something else? I have a Compaq Presario 5827 with an Intel Celeron Processor 498 MHZ, 384 MB of Ram with Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack. I wanted to do a re-install of the Windows XP Professional operating system but I can't find the CD. Thank you in advance for your help as I appreciate it very much.

P.S. I have posted another topic in the "Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs" forum because I originally thought that I had some kind of virus and/or rootkit problem.

Thank you,

A:Internet Explorer can't seem to load images from websites,

I had to restart a thread because the other one expired. I'm not the most teckie person, but I can usually research the internet enough to find an answer or solution. I'm stuck and it's driving me crazy

I had IE8 on my computer and noticed that on some of my favorite websites, I was getting the dreaded red X. I decide to install Google Chrome to see if I would have the same issue. Using Google Chrome on the same websites - no red X's. Unfortunately, I do not love Google Chrome (font issue, bookmark manager - just prefer the IE features).

I thought maybe the issue was with IE8 so I unistalled it and it reverted back to IE7 - but I'm still having the same issues.

I do have Norton Antivirus running but I figured it can not be that because it is not causing an issue in Google Chrome - right?

I research the Microsoft website...My "Show Pictures" option is turned on...I've tried all their trouble shooting, but I must still be missing something.

The one thing I did notice is that when I click on the red X and hit properties - they all seem to come up as HTML. (Sorry - this is where I'm totally clueless) Do they come up as HTML as a default? Some of these red X's are videos and some I believe are just pictures. Is this image type not supported by IE? I know that I have always used IE as my default browser, but I have not always had this issue.

What am I missing?

I have tried most of the posts on the internet to fix this problem--this is under IE6--"Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later." The problem just suddenly appeared. I'm running a Dell Inspiron B130 laptop with Win XP Home, Service Pack 3 installed, 1 gb ram and a 40 gb HDD. Had McAffee Internet Security Suite preinstalled but removed it via REVO Uninstaller and have only Windows firewall enabled and NO anti-virus. I did try downloading with Windows firewall disbaled and still no success. I can navigate to a site like Google Chrome download page but then when I click on the download button, the error message appears. Also can't download Microsoft or Windows updates from either site, although, again, I can get through the "checking" phase. I've run Malwarebytes, A-Squared, and IObit 360 and removed about 13 traces of malware ranging from low risk to high risk, defragged and cleaned the reg, all to no avail. I originally had IE7 installed, read about rolling back to IE6 and doing the typical repair sequences, again to no avail. Supposedly IE8 fixes this, but I can't download it, although I did try the stand-alone installer of 15 MB without checking the "get updates" box. It loaded and installed and shows up as IE8 but still had the same problems. Then did a system restore back to before the IE8 install, rolled back to IE6 again... Read more

I am using Internet Explorer 11 from Program Files folder which supposedly launches 64 bit applications. This Internet Explorer 11 settings from Tools Options of Custom Level and Advanced tabs Security features were if selected; Internet Explorer

This coupled with Microsoft Edge's unpredictable website loading with frequent Network's internet connection disconnecting to the brink of unusability; nothing; even Microsoft Edge Reset won't resolve these scenarios.
And now Microsoft Edge DEV; with all above said problems and beta version errings uses 1.5 GB of 4G ISP full speed memory to send computer information to Microsoft within half day of 12 hrs. day, rest of day goes with crawling speed of ISP setted 64 Kbps

Okay so recently my computer has stopped loading images(mostly from DeviantART.com) on my internet browsers. All that would show up is a little gray box or one of the various "broken link" pictures for the various browsers i have tried. Also on some sites, the site itself does not load correctly and the background and header is tiled which it's not supposed to do. i've ran Malwarebytes', Symantec, and Spybot but nothing comes up and if something comes up i fix it but nothing changes. can anyone help?

Didn't know how to title this issue...basically, here's the deal: I have a school web site, on [email protected], which has a maximum of 10mb on the site. This is a constant battle trying to keep it under the 10 mgs, with all the photos and whatnot I like to put up there. I was thinking that I still have another three or four sites on my account; why don't I set up one site which is just the images, and link it to the other site. Wouldn't it be transparent? I mean, if I set up a hyperlink on the main site, wouldn't visitors just cruise back and forth at will without any hassle? And that way, I'd have much more space for images.

Please advise...it seems too easy...am I missing something?

p.s. I use front page 2002 from office xp suite (professional )

A:thinking of setting up web site just for images to support another site

I don't think you're missing anything. This is common practice. Most of the images on this page came from another site. Ads almost always do. There's nothing that says that the image links in your html can't load images from elsewhere. The ability to bring many disparate objects from various sources together on one web page is the reason html was designed the way it was.

Sounds like you have a good solution to your problem.

Suddenly, my IE 5.5 stopped loading jpg images correctly. At first I thought it was the website, but it's not. The images are there, but they are all funky looking. Blocky like. A black and white may show some blue or yellow blocks. I have reloaded Windows ME, updated to IE 6.0 clicked every tab and properties box I can find and I can not fix this problem. The thing is, I can right click the messed up image and save it to My Pictures, and it will open fine. All the photo editing software I have has been on the computer for a long time and this just started happening in the last two weeks or so. It's not like it's a MAJOR deal, just a big pain. In the past few days/week, my browser (Internet Explorer - version 6.0.29xxxxxxx) has begun showing me only low resolution images when I surf web pages. I'm running WinXP Pro, SP2, with 1GB RAM and a 128mb video card.

At first I thought my video card may be on the fritz, or that my color/resolution settings on my display had been disturbed...

But when I look at my desktop, the icons and background images are clean. When I run Photoshop, my high-rez images in there are working just fine. It's only when viewing a file in IE that things look pixellated and lo-rez, like it's only displaying 64 colors or something.

Not only do they look lo-rez... when I download them (right-click to save) from my browser, the file saved is also lo-rez!

I'd show you a sample -but because I'm a newbie, I'm not allowed to post a link in my thread

Could a driver that is IE-specific be failing?

I've never experienced anything like this before. So any ideas or feedback would be greatly appreciated... so I can can have a clue as to where to begin problem-solving... Thanks!

UPDATE: Out of curiousity, I imported a saved-HTML file and images into my browser to see how it would handle them... and they were just fine! So it *literally* only seems to be files I'm downloading from the internet into my browser that are not loading hi-rez.

Running Windows xp:
I cannot view "most" pictures when I go to a site through Internet Explorer. For example.. if I go to myspace.com, I can't see any "friends" pictures, (not even my own)
I have an account with photobucket and when I log in, all of the names of my pictures are there but not one picture is showing.. If I do a search for something, same thing..

The pictures that I have saved in my computer are there..it's only when I'm using IE.
I recently downloaded software for a printer/scanner/fax machine from the internet which I know I shouldn't do but I had to! and I think I remember seeing somewhere in this forum that this could be my problem?
I've already checked tools/Internet options/show pictures/ and view/encoding/Western European (which likes to jump and change itself now and then but I don't care about that right now!!

Recently many of the sites that I visit have the empty box with a small red X in it in place for images. At first I thought it was just the site but now it's happening on almost all sites that have a lot of images. I usually have to refresh the page three or four times before they all show up properly. It doesn't to seem to be any specific type of image I cant view. It happens with both JPEGs and GIFs.

So then I thought that it could possibly be my firewall. So I disabled it and refreshed the page again but that didn't work. So I decided to come here and get some help if possible. It is getting very frustrating.

Hi Ashman..sometimes ad blocking software can affect how webpages load. You may want to try temporarily disabling any such software you have installed to see if that helps. Also, you could try viewing the site in compatibility mode. Towards the top right hand side of the browser window, you should see a button called Page. Click that and then select Compatibility View settings.

If you have your Microsoft Internet Explorer security set high, you may not be able to copy and paste in the PureCMS editor. You can fix this by changing one small setting.

To allow copy and paste function in PureCMS
Open Internet Explorer.

1.On the menu bar, choose Tools > Internet Options.

2.Click the Security tab.

3.Select the Internet zone and click the Custom Level button. The Security Settings window opens.

4.Scroll down to the Scripting section of Settings.

5.Under Allow paste operations via script select Enable or Prompt.

6.Click OK to close the Security Settings window.

7.Click Yes when asked if you want to change security settings for this zone.

8.Click OK again to close the Internet Options window.

When I'm browsing webpages with Internet Explorer, I notice all the images and pictures (regardless of the format) show up in very low resolution, not too clear and have jagged edges. But when I save the same images onto my computer, and open it using other programs, they look fine. That makes me think it's an IE problem. I haven't tried Mozilla to see if the same thing happens. Is there something in IE that I can change to fix this?

FYI: I am running XP Professional, and I haven't done any updating. I used the IE as it comes with XP. I just got a new laptop (Dell 8600) and I have just finished formatting the whole hard drive and installed a fresh copy of XP. Thanks.

Usually, the TIFF image will come up perfect, but now there is a placeholder for it instead. I recently had to reinstall Microsoft Office XP. I'm not sure what has changed, however.

Any ideas on why the image will not show up?

A:Internet Explorer won't show TIFF images

Tried to playwith these TIFFs.
Created a document in MS Word, placed an image there.
Saved "as web page"
Eeverything was OK.

Created a document in Dreamweaver, placed an image there.
Image was not recognized as such by DW.
In IE - blank window.

I think the problem is that IE is not for viewing TIFF files. Maybe you should try placing JPGs instead? Far less space and far less trouble...

So I did some digging on Google and found many sites, offering exactly the same solution.

1) Clear the Temporary Internet Files
2) Check in Downloaded Program Files for any installed software that was marked as "Damaged".
3) Move the Temporary Internet Files folder to a different location.

I've tried all of the above and it has not solved my problem at all.

I've also reset IE7 and IE8. It made no difference.

The last attempt I made to fix this (which was also the last possible solution I found) was re-registering the mshtml.dll.

However, I get the following error message when I try doing this:

The Module "mshtml.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer
was not found. Make sure that "mshtml.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and
then try again.

So I tried to unregister it and then register - Same error as above.

Within Downloaded Program Files folder there are only 2 things installed (neither marked as damaged) - "Shockwave Flash Object" and "System Requirements Lab". It won't let me uninstall either of these, only gives me the option to call up a Properties window on each and nothing in this window allows me to alter these.

I upgraded my browser to IE8 just to see if that made any difference and it di... Read more

I am using a Windows 2000 system with Internet Explorer 6.0, and I download pictures from the Internet quite frequently by simply right clicking on the mouse and "save as".

Every instance in the past, this has automatically saved the picture as the same file name and graphic format (.gif, .jpg) as the picture I am viewing. However, just recently, I noticed that IE wants to save images as "untitled" and only gives me the option of saving as .bmp.

For instance, I can right click on a picture with the filename "picture.jpg" and IE wants to save it as "untitled.bmp"...and this only started happening recently. Is this a problem with IE or my operating system? I have tried resetting the settings to default in IE, but that doesn't work. What can I do? Thanks!

Hi there
I have been using our other home computer and noticed that all pictures on web pages in IE are really bad quality. At first I thought it was the graphics card but I installed Firefox and the images look great in that. The machine is running XP pro and is fully updated. Is it possible something didn't install properly? I if I need to remove and re-install IE how do I do that?

A:Poor quality images in Internet Explorer

If you need to reinstall or repair IE see How to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP. The first thing to try is to go to Start>Run and type in sfc /scannow. This will have XP examine its own files for corruption or missing ones. You may need your XP CD during this process. If you do this be sure to go to Windows update after its done as some files may revert back to their original version.

Hey! Now I've got a problem of my own for you guys to figure out. Internet Explorer on my own personal home computer has been giving me trouble for the last few months and I'm finally tired of it.

Here's the issue: about 75% of the time, it won't show very small images on a web page. For example, this image: will usually show up as the red "X" (as well as very small images from any site). Now, if I hit refresh, I've got another 25% chance of them loading. On the other hand, if I right-click on one of them and choose "Show Picture", all instances of that picture on the page will appear INSTANTLY.

Ever hear of such thing?

I came across this site http://www.dogagent.com
On the front page it says "The pages are designed only to work in Internet Explorer 5.0 or later".

Can anyone explain why the site wouldn't work with another browser?

Ideas welcomed!

Just started using IE8, and getting the nag on many pages (while I am already on that page) saying IE cannot open this internet site....and if hit the return arrow to go back a page , and then reclick to the new page, it works. Whats up with that ? Am I missing some file or is this just another glitch ?
Didn't happen with IE7, and may just go back to it.

A:internet explorer cannot open the internet site...

Did you try other sites ? That is a quick check to see if the problem is your browser. And it would need to be a site that uses similar setup. So if the page that doesn;'t display has lots of javascript, go to another one that has lots of javascript, etc.

On one of my sites, sometimes one particular page wouldn't display. I had to re-edit it, upload, it works fine now. So it may not be your browser. It could be that site.
