I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

We have an odd issue. IE11 is running all sites in compatibility mode. This appears to be because it is treating all sites as being in the Intranet Zone. This is:
a) breaks many websites that require modern browsers
b) is a huge security issue as many protections are disabled by default on the intranet zone.

Has anyone else seen this or have ideas on what we can do to solve it.

I will add that we have autodetect proxy settings enabled, and wpad hosts a proxy.pac that instructs browsers to go direct to all websites.

Thanks

Nick

Hi Technet
My domaincomputers have enhanced security switched on by default.
Being an educational institute, we try to incorporate a lot of news and video's in our lessons.
I had to move http://www.deredactie.be/cm/vrtnieuws/videozone to the trusted websites because video was blocked.
Apparently, the Facebook/twitter integration (scripts on external websites) gets blocked by default because of said enhanced security. And because the website loads those scripts before the video, the video was also blocked.
Now
When we link from PowerPoint to a website that is in the trusted list, that website won't load.
We just receive a blank page but ONLY when Internet Explorer has not been started yet.
If IE 11.0.9600.17937 already displays any website at all, the powerpoint-link works just fine.
Steps to recreate the problem:

Hello
We are testing Windows 10 1703 prior to rolling it out to our estate and have come across an issue with Internet Explorer Site Zoning and just wondering if anyone else has seen the issue.
So on Windows 7, 8.1 and Windows 10, 1511 and 1607 using IE11. We have a SharePoint intranet site setup on intranet.example.co.uk. We use a proxy so we have a list of sites that by pass the proxy so for example we have *.example.co.uk in the bypass
proxy exceptions. On the above clients OS we browse to the site in IE and it loads, checking the zone it has picked it up as 'Local Intranet' so seems to use the 'Automatic logon on in Intranet Zone' setting. - all good.
Just for clarity these settings are same in IE on all versions. as are the default security options.

When we do the same thing on Windows 10 1703 it results in the user being prompted for credentials. the same proxy exceptions settings are applied as above. Entering the username/password allows access to the site. Checking the zone and the site is
being seen as an 'internet site'. This issue also appears in Chrome and Edge and only on Windows 10 1703
Adding intranet.example.co.uk to the bypass list makes no difference either, the only thing that does work is by adding intranet.example.co.uk into the Local Intranet Zone sites list - again all other settings are the same as above and work on
previous versions of Windows.
So the question is has Microsoft changed something in IE o... Read more

I have the newest Internet Explorer and im using Vista. I play a game called Travian and I want to use a 'graffic pack' which loads from my PC.

I had to add the site to my 'trusted sites' for it to work, and it does now.

The only thing is that when I open the site it opens a new IE and loads it in there. As it is the only site in my trusted sites I cant load any other sites with that IE, so I need to go to a different one if that makes sence.

How can I make it so that my trusted sites open with my non-tusted sites (using tabs)?

A:Solved: How can I make trusted sites and normal sites open together?

Set your tab preferences in IE, otherwise, try Firefox and set those tab preferences.

I have my Firefox preferences for Tabs set to never open in a new window, and always open at least one tab:
New pages should be opened in: a new tab rather than a new window
Always show the tab bar
When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately
Warn me when closing multiple tabs
Warn me when opening multiple tabs might slow down Firefox

I setup a GPO that uses a global sites list for enterprise mode for our domain.  The first time we all launched IE it went and got the list and everything looks good.  Since then I've added 3 extra sites to the enterprise sites list, but none of
the clients seem like they are re-checking the list to see if its been updated because the new sites I added aren't showing up in enterprise mode, only the original ones I first added.  If I open the sites list it shows the xml version is still 1 but
the rules version is 4.  I read online the browser doesn't check for a new sites list until 65 seconds after its been open, but its been like 7 hours and it still hasn't updated.  Anything I could check?  Thanks
***EDIT***
I checked the registry entry for the enterprise mode and it shows the correct version number as 4.  I cleared my temporary internet files and it finally went out and got a new one.  But I don't want my users to have to clear their cache any time
the site list is updated.  Anyone know a solution to this?

On Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 9 in a domain environment I have been trying to figure out why users can't add to trusted sites. Spending hours on this. I changed the setting in "Site to Zone assignment list" to disabled and was able to add a site, or so I thought. I add a site, close the dialog and go back in and then ALL the entries in the list have disappeared.

Yes we use Group Policy.

I hate troubleshooting this, I hope someone can expalin this (without telling me to "Search"). I have come across MANY issues similar but have yet to find a solution.

Hi

I'm not sure that anyone can help me with this problem but I'd like to ask.

DETAILS:

IBM Thinkpad T22 Laptop
Windows 2000 Professional

A user at our company connects to an internal intranet website. The web server is located in the US (we are in the UK) and so its a bit slow but ok.

When he gets to a certain site he clicks a link that should open an Excel document. He clicks the link and his pc appears to freeze up. I checked task manager and IE is still running, cpu usage is around 3%. If you wait for 8 minutes (timed it a few times) the document opens up fine.

I logged the user off and logged on as myself. I accessed the link and the document opend up with 10 seconds!

Things I have tried:

1. Ran an IE browser repair.
2. Rebuilt the users Windows 2000 Profile.
3. Deleted Temp Internet Files including Index.dat
4. Detect and Reapir in Excel (just in case!)

Its not a major problem but the document should open up in about 10-15 seconds instead of 8 minutes.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Regards

Pileyrei

What is the domain of the site? The "*" just means any prefix for a URL on that site would be trusted. I don't like adding entries there as it basically gives them permission to bypass security measures on your computer. I have, what seems to me, a strange problem. The company I work for uses sharepoint for our intranet sites (no, this is not a sharepoint question) and we have recently upgraded to a new version. When we upgraded, the site now needs to be added to the local
intranet site list in order for it to automatically receive windows log in credentials and log users in to SharePoint. This is a simple fix, I have done it on dozens of machines, but on a select few the fix doesn't seem to work. Whenever I add a website to
the intranet sites list, it acts as if it was added... then as soon as I close the dialog box that is used to enter and display this info, it's gone, and by gone I mean I open back up the box and it has disappeared from the list. There is no trace of me ever
having changed a setting. There are currently no GPOs active that would cause these to be taken out of the list, I have tried adding the sites directly into the registry and they disappear there too, I'm not sure if this is the right place for my question
but I figure it's a start. So again:
Problem: Sites do not stay in proper security zone, all traces of them existing are erased on closing of dialog box.

Troubleshooting Done so Far: Tried directly placing in registry, no fix. No GPO's are active to remove said sites from zones.

A:IE 11 - Intranet sites added to list do not stay

Hi,
"but on a select few the fix doesn't seem to work"
Confused with this sentence, does this issue only occur in a specific PC\user account?
Have you tried the suggestion mentioned in the your original thread to reset IE, test the result?
What about other security zones, like Internet or trusted zone? Are there any other websites under the Intranet zone? Though you mentioned that these's no GPO applied to control this, I still recommend you run cmd rsop to check the settings applied
on this machine and user account.

Did you uncheck "requires server verification"? It looks like you did the IE8 version of that, but afterwards did you re-look at all the security settings, particularly involving scripting and ActiveX? Outside of IE did you also check the way you set up your intranet to see what restrictions might be causing both problems?

Welcome to TSF.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Hi,
I had raised this question in Microsoft communities
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie11-windows_7/trusted-sites-settings/638743fd-a57f-4595-92aa-e26e172b95bd
and they have asked me to repost the question at this forum.  Hence reposting my question below

We develop applications that are installed on a windows 7 system. Our application has a webpage hosted in IIS.

As an example lets say the system on which we have installed our application has hostname
A and IP "29.1.1.5".  System A
has IIS installed.  SSL option is enabled.  As part of our application we host a home page on this system
A(Example
https://29.1.1.5/home.htm)
Now in the home page of system A I have displayed URLs which correspond to pages from another system(Example href->http://29.1.1.7/home.htm).
Let us name this second system with host name B and IP "29.1.1.7". System
B on which its home page is hosted does not have SSL enabled.

When I click on the system B's URL in system A home page it displays a warning "Only secure content is displayed" which is in accordance since we are navigating away from the secure site(System
A's home page).
So now the requirement for us is to add the system B's home page as a trusted site as part of internet settings on system
A and to enable the mixed mode.  I am already aware of the manual setting in the... Read more

I have tried everything I can see on the forums to get acces to the trusted sites list to add another site.
The HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings only has a: Default REG-SZ Value not set, nothing else in that field. I obviously have admin rights and even started IE9 as admin. I used Local Group Policy Editor to check User config/Windows settings/Internet explorer Maintenance/Security and ensured that Do not customize ... is ticked. All to no avail.
Anybody can help with this, I would really appreciate. I cannot log on to my bank any more, as they have changed sites.

A:Trusted sites greyed out

Why do you believe you need to add sites to your safe sites list ?
You didn't say which version of Internet explorer your using,
Gear symbol and About ie,
Post which third party security suite you have installed,
Set your time with internet time,
Export Favorites to html file before resetting Internet explorer/ just to be safe.
Internet Explorer - Import and Export Favorites

Internet Explorer - Reset
Accessing Internet Options from the Start menu search,
Reset process first opening Internet explorer
Manage add-ons,
Manage add-ons for Internet Explorer - Microsoft Windows Help
How to manage add-ons in Internet Explorer 9
Turn Internet explorer off and boot when prompted then turn ie back on,
Windows Features - Turn On or Off
You can also try creating a new user account and test,User Account - Create

Just purchased a new Dell 4700 desktop. SOftware was previously installed. When accessing Window Media Player, a Security Message pops up and reads "The current web page is trying to open a site in your Trusted Site list. Do you want to allow this?
Current Site: go.microsoft.com
Trusted Site: wwwp.musicmatch.com.

Regardless of the answer I select (yes or no), this message appears every time and it is getting annoying. How do I fix this problem?

A:Trusted Sites List

Copy your link (http://wwwp.musicmatch.com/) into the buffer.

Go to "Start > Settings > Control Panel > Internet Options > Security > Trusted Sites > Sites". Paste your link in the upper window and click "add".

It may "choke" on your link because it wants a secure connection. Add an "s" to the "https:...". Maybe that will work. Maybe that is why it hasn't been working in the past.

If there is already a similar link in there, delete it.

See if that helps.

Windows XP SP3, Firefox3 (or IE7).
Internet protection set to:
- Internet=high
- Trusted sites=high
I cannot download .exe, ... files, and get an error message "This download has been blocked by criterion on protection areas", also if the site has been added to trusted sites.
Same thing with Windows Update sites.
I need to lower the protection each time.
Thank you for help.

A:Error with trusted sites

Trusted Sites = High is too restrictive in IE.

Hello,
I noticed this $talisma_url$ entry in browser's trusted sites section. I googled it and found many infected computer users have also had this entry in their trusted sites and would really appreciate some assistance in diagnosing. I have also had my share of viruses and have used combofix to remove several viruses/trojans recently, but keep getting reinfected. Also, my otl scan shows an @Alternate Data Stream - 125 bytes -> C:\ProgramData\Temp.

I am using Microsoft Security Essentials on Windows 7 64bit computer. Thanks in advance for your prompt response and assistance!

A:Trusted Sites: $talisma_url$

Since you ran Combofix.....Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<== starting at Step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic. If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.It would be helpful if you post a note here once you have completed the steps in the guide and have started your topic in malware removal. Good luck and be patient. If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but as its related to IE I am putting this here
What difference does it make whether or not a website is added to the trusted Sites list. The reason I ask is some of the icons on a website do not show up when not in the trusted sites list and I cannot figure out which setting I can change to make this
work without adding this to the trusted sites list.

I have tried and tried to figure this out and just cant get it.

We remotely connect to sites using remotely anywhere along with tunnelier.

So we login with tunnelier to the server, then tunnelier gives us our port number, and to connect to the site, we put http://localhost:11233 in our browser.

This all works great, except we get the certificate error in IE.

What i would like to know is how to add localhost to the trusted sites list, so that no matter what the port number is, here 11233, we wont get the certificate error where we are having to click continue to website.

Anyone know how to do this?

I was infected with spyware a few days ago so I ran Spybot, Ad-aware and CWShredder like I usually do and everything seems to be ok. The only problem is that whenever I go to a site on Internet Explorer, this little green check mark symbol appears in the bottom right-hand corner and it says "Trusted sites." I'm not sure what this means or if I have any spyware still on my computer. Here is my HijackThis log. Thank you for any help you can give me.
