I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi Andy,
Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you here.

I believe you are using Windows 10, then you can use Lenovo Vantage to control the Battery Charge Threshold from there below is the referenced attached snapshot:
Open Lenovo Vantage>Hardware Settings>Power and then scroll down you'll get the option of Battery Charge Threshold.

I hope the above information helped you.
Please feel free to post in Lenovo Community Forums if you have any further queries!

I recently purchased a T460 with an Ultradock 90w and when the notebook is docked it only shows battery 1 (internal) as charging. Battery 2 is not being used but it is not charging either and it is very very slowly discharging (about 3% over the last few days). If I plug the Thinkpad into its normal power supply outside of the dock both batteries charge (one at a time). Is this normal behavior or is there something wrong with my dock?

The solution for me is to either hibernate the laptop and turn it back on or reboot it to detect the charger and start charging. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing tesame problem and if there is a solution for this.

I have a new ThinkPad T460 with Windows 10 Pro x64.  Under Ports (COM & LPT) Device Manager shows a Serial  Port using Intel Active Management Technology.  By right-clicking on this entry, the port can be configured like any normal serial port between 75 bbs and 128,000 bbs, I can set the word length, Partiy and number of Stop Bits.  However, there is no serial port on the machine.  I did not expect to find a serial port on the T460 since it is not advertised as having a serial port. However, this Device Meneger entry is a surpise and quite confusing. Can anyone tell me where tis phantom serial port is located?

Hoping someone can help me with my issue. My Thinkpad T460 that I bought last October (nearly a year now) won't turn on. It randomly shut off on me a few days ago while casually surfing the web. No warning, no nothing. Every time I try to turn on my laptop, the screen will quickly flicker once, the light indicators for certain keys will flicker once (mute mic key and Caps lock key for example), the fan will turn on for half a second before stopping, and the power led will blink. This would all happen at the same time obviously, as if it's the laptop is trying to run, but fails to do so. Plugged in to the AC, the power led would blink 2 times. I've tried disconnecting the external battery, tried pressing the tiny reset button, but still won't work. Hoping someone can help! Thanks

A:Help! One year old Thinkpad T460 won't turn on!

Could be disk.  Could be memory.  Could be something like the power button.  If you bought it nearly a year ago, you are probably still under warranty.  Call support.  In US, it is 1-800-426-7378

Hi all, I was working on my laptop this morning and it suddenly died (screen went black, all indicator lights off). No warning indications came up before it died. It was plugged into the AC adapter with full battery. When I pressed the power button to restart it, nothing happened--no lights, no fan, no screen activity. The red light in the "i" of "ThinkPad" on the back of the screen won't come on, even when the AC adapter is plugged in. The laptop was on top of a blanket so I thought maybe it overheated, but the bottom of the laptop and the battery itself weren't hot. I removed the battery and tried a number of strategies I saw online: 1) pressed power button 10 times at 1-sec intervals, then held for 30 seconds, 2) pressed power button for 20 seconds, 3) pressed button for 30 seconds. I removed the battery and tried to turn on the machine between each strategy. I've tried the emergency reset button underneath the touchpad. I've removed the battery and tried the AC adapter only, tried with the battery with and without AC adapter.  I've had the laptop since August 2016 with no problems. No updates installed within the past few days. Help is very much appreciated!!!!Thank you!

With both models, Thinkpad S1 and Thinkpad T460, I run into a reproducable Windows 10 crash when I use the Microsoft Edge browser app: Clicking on the "Review now" button" in Google.ch, that appears at the bottom of the Google search window, just right of the "A privacy reminder of Google" text. The overlay windows opens and then Windows freezes fully and has to be restarted by a hard reset. This doesn't happen in other browsers like Firefox, Chrome or Microsoft IE.

Hello, I am starting a new job where I will b working from home. Before my orientation, I purchased two monitors for my home office. I am currently at my orientation for this week and was just provided my work laptop (ThinkPad T460). My question is: what docking station or stations are available for me to purchase where I can plug my two monitors into the station and be able to use both the monitors AND laptop at the same time. I am not the most techy person, so you may have to dumb down your responses. I've read several reviews on Lenovo docking stations and some people are saying their monitors will only work with the laptop shut or if the laptop is open then only one of the monitors will work. I want both monitors AND the laptop to be able to be used at the same time. Are you able to point me in the right direction to the right docking station or docking stations that would allow me to accomplish this for my home office? Thank you very much in advance!

I have recently received an upgrade laptop at work. On my previous laptop (ThinkPad, unsure of model), I was able to connect one external display monitor directly to the VGA port on the laptop and an additional external diplay monitor to the ThinkPad Pro Dock station VGA port. I prefered to use these two screens with my laptop closed on the docking station, but could also open the laptop on the dock and have a third screen available. ISSUE: With my new ThinkPad (T440) there is no VGA port on the laptop. I have purchased a simple HDMI to VGA Converter Adapter - see link:https://www.amazon.ca/VicTsing-Gold-plated-Converter-Ultrabook-Devices-Black/dp/B016LVT51G/ref=sr_1_...   I am using the same ThinkPad Pro Dock station as with my previous laptop. With my new T440 I am able to work with my laptop open or closed on the docking station with one external display plugged into the docking station. I am also able to work with one external display plugged directly into my laptop using the VGA to HDMI converter adapter.  ISSUE 2: The laptop will not recognize when both screens are plugged in at the same time, but they each work when I have only one plugged in either to the dock or directly to the laptop. PLEASE HELP!! The instructions/video for removing and replacing the keyboard are quite good. However, I had the following issue when replacing the keyboard. The instructions say to be in tablet mode when sliding the keyboard back into position. Would this not mean that the keys should be in the recessed position when putting the keyboard back in? That way, when you swing the lid back to normal laptop use, the keys will move become "unrecessed" again. Without this, after I replace the keyboard, I find that the lid cannot be closed any longer. In other words the sequence I am experiencing is this:To remove keyboard, move laptop into tablet position. Keys get recessed. I remove the keyboard.I put the new keyboard in. Keys are not recessed at this stage. New keyboard goes in - can't close lid any longer. Any tricks to this that I am missing?

But it runs out of charge very soon. It shows me the low battery level indicator as soon as I use it on the screen. First day of usage (appox 4 days ago) it gave me about 30 - 45 minutes of continuous. But after that not more than 5 minutes. Please let me know if this is an issue with the Pen or Laptop charging port. Is there any way I can troubleshoot it?Please also let me know the average usage time for the pen, if you are continuously using it.

A:Thinkpad yoga 460 - Thinkpad Pen Pro not charging ...

Hi
Welcome to the forums.

I do not have that kind of pen, but I think is the one that has some "bronce contacts" at the top of the pen. I had read some other post about it, just in case check that "contacts" to make sure they are touching with the charger when you put the pen into it's holder. Sometimes the contacts may move.

You didn't say how old that laptop is and if it has the original battery and charger.

A laptop battery will lose the ability to charge and have burn time as it gets older.

What charging threshold do you have set in either Lenovo companion or Lenovo Vantage app?  For me I have it set at 70% and 80%.  In other words my battery wont charge until it falls below 70% and it will stop at 80%.  So if its at 75% for example it will show "plugged in, not charging"
