ProBook 4530s charging issue / AC adapter issue

Q: ProBook 4530s charging issue / AC adapter issue

Hello I bought new battery for my laptop 4530s. In HP support assistant I ran HP battery check test and the results showed my battery was not discharging even when it is fully discharged to 0 percent and I was running my laptop with AC adapter. Plus it didn't show that it was charging either. The AC adapter is not charging the battery and the laptop works fine when only connected with AC adapter. I tried hard resetting and under the device manager Microsoft ACPI reinstall method but it didn't work and still I am unable to charge the battery. I read on some forums and also tried to update my BIOS, but surprisingly during the BIOS update through USB and only AC adapter plugged in, on the BIOS update page it was written to connect external power eventhough only source that was connected was AC adapter. The problem is with my AC adapter or BIOS or charging circuitory please guide? An early response in this regard will be highly treasured.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all

I bought a probook for my wife last year as I thought it would be bullet proof but that is not the case. It was purchased so that she could do work easily when she was pregnant. It was purchased from saved laptops for a decent price and I got 100 quid cash back. Also had them upgrade the memory to 8gb from, but I've just found that 4gb is Kingston and the other is micron(strange)

Because my wife was on maternity, the laptop rarely got used, however when she went back to work I noticed the battery waasn't working well. It would fully charge, however after being turned off the battery would be dead. I've completed a battery test & the battery was fine, so someone mentioned running the built-in HP support software and updating the drivers etc.

I updated everything and the battery was sorted no problem whatsoever. However after minutes of use the laptop would BSOD and I kept missing the error message.

I then after trying various things rolled back the software to an earlier date and which has solved the BSOD, however the battery is back to square one.

I then restored the laptop to see if it would help ANC for a while I though it did until it started all over again. I've tried memory tests based on what someone said and various other tests. I've noticed it only really happens when I'm on the internet and managed to catch the following pictures of the BSOD.

Hi, a friend just gave me his probook, he spilled 1/2 cup of tea on it. He took the back off it and let it dry. After removing the battery, and plugging in the AC adaptor, there is no power. No leds anywhere are on.
I am thinking the power supply/motherboard may be fried.
If so, is there any way to take out the hard drive and connect it to another pc to retrieve data?

A:HP Probook 4530S power/hard drive issue

Yup, it's just a standard SATA connection that can be plugged directly inside a desktop computer like a dektop hard drive or optical drive. Otherwise you can buy a USB to SATA adapter and connect it via USB if you don't want to open up another computer or if you only have a laptop.

Hello, I have a HP 4530s with this problem: If I remove and insert the battery while Windows is running, the battery charges for a little while and then stops charging ("Plugged in, not charging). An orange light is blinking near the power connector. If I remove and insert the battery again, it charges for a while and then stops again. If I turn off Windows and disconnect AC power, if the orange light was blonking, it continues blonking (didn't wait to see how long). If I do this enough times, the battery charges to full. When I disconnect the AC power the laptop works normally on the battery (battery capacity is OK). What I have tried:1. removing the battery, disconnecting AC, holding power button for 40s, reconnecting AC, starting Windows, shutting down Windows, inserting the battery.2. Updating the BIOS to the latest version (F60) - this actually helped because previously the battery was not detected at all if removed and inserted until I did #1.

When I plug my charger into my laptop, the laptop does not detect the charger, and the battery continues decreasing normally with use (not charging).  I ran HP PC Hardware Diagnostics, and my battery passed the component test. However, my AC adapter showed an issue. This is the error message displayed.  Test Name: HPAdvSysDiag_ACAdapterFailure ID: NULL I've only had this laptop and charger for a little less than 2 months, and the charger was working fine yesterday. This error just suddenly happened today. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

My laptop works fine only when ac adapter is connected and no battery inserted. However, when I inserted battery the ac adapter won't charge the battery. I downloaded HP UEFI tool for hardware diagnostic . I checked both battery and ac adapter. The results showed battery is o.k. but AC adapter was not o.k. as no ac adapter was detected and the test result was please connect the AC adapter you want to test. My question is do I need to replace the AC adapter ? or there is some problem with my charging jack / bios etc.

Several technical forums discuss Dell's issue, "The AC adapter type cannot be determined. This will prevent optimal system performance."

All solutions I've understood include:
1-unplug adapter from wall and computer for at least 5 seconds to check the adapter and connections...and if that doesn't work
2-Install BIOS driver for computer to be sure your version is not 'out-dated'...and if that doesn't work
3-Contact customer support. The board may be the problem. You can order a replacement board or have a tech replace it for you. $$$$$$$$

I'm wondering, is it really necessary to replace the entire board when the problem could be as simple as an alignment problem with the plug on it (or even a damaged plug socket)?

Unfortunately, I do not find many solved problems. Also, because the issue is discussed so often, I wonder, "Is it a latent design flaw"?

I don't want to have to replace this battery again. It's only a year old, but it is down to 5% power and I am now tied down to an electric power cord.

I'd appreciate any constructive suggestions or feedback.

Hi @hulp_gezocht! Yes, you should be able to put a SSD in your notebook, but since there is only one HDD bay and all you need to do replace it with the SSD. Here's the link to the service manual if you want to read ahead on how to remove and replace the HDD, more specifically - page 52:http://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03054480.pdf Hope this helps and best of luck!

Good afternoon, all! I've been trying to upgrade a ProBook 4530S to Windows 10.  All looks good until I try to connect to Wi-Fi.  The widget simply says "Cannot connect to wireless" and there are no Event Viewer entries showing why.   The wired adapter works fine.  They're both the Realtek adapter.  I tried the Windows 8.1 driver with no success.  The hard switch is on and the LED is white.  The BIOS is the latest & greatest.  Also triple-checked the wireless router password - thst's OK, too! With no indication from the OS as to what's going on, I may have to restore Win 7 and either start over or give up.  I have another ProBook that I tried to upgrade; the wireless was fine, but there was something in the services that kept refreshing the desktop and breaking VPN and RDP connections.  So, I'm a little concerned that these laptops may not be upgradeable to Win 10.   Any tips for getting Win 10 to run on this? Thanks to all for looking!  Gregg

Hi: If your notebook has the RTL8188CE wireless card, that doesn't work on W10. I didn't even know there was a W8.1 driver for it.  I only thought that card worked up to W8. Why not upgrade the wlan card to the Intel card listed in the service manual...chapter 3, page 25. That should work fine on W10.  Not only that, but you then get a dual band card with bluetooth. Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230     HP Part # 636672-001 The only caution is you must get that card, and it must have the HP part # on it or it will not work because of the BIOS whitelist HP has on those models. You should be able to find them used but in tested and working condition cheaply on eBay by querying by the part number. I would make sure you see the HP part number shown for the item in the listing photograph.

Hello. Which suggested not let me install it. I have also installed other drivers windows 8 and I updated with the manufacturer (Intel and AMD) the graphics cards and some other that windows update has recommended me. Anyway still taking 1 min 30 sec to start, as there are 2 devices that are not recognized and for which no drivers. And the Atheros bluetooth driver gives a problem. HP, please release drivers for these three devices soon. In this link http://answers.microsoft.com/es-es/windows/forum/windows_10-other_settings/windows-10-arranca-muy-le..., is the solution to the problem, that obtained from this other link http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Lockups-Freezes-Hangs/windows-10-extremely-slow-boot-since-ins.... The problem is with the ATI graphics Catalyst driver, with version 15.7. To solve the problem of slow start, in the registry, change all the DWORD value to 0 in the enableULPS key.  Make a backup of the registry before making changes just in case... Thus, although I still have the problem with the three drivers, startup is normal in less than 30 seconds. Greetings and good luck.

Hi, I'm having some trouble getting Windows 10 installed properly: How did you guys even get the HP 4530s to get the right Display Drivers for Windows 10, it looks like HP still hasn't released updated drivers for the 4530s...  I have a ProBook 4530s running Windows 7 64bit Home edition. When I did the Windows 10 upgrade about a month ago, the installation appeared successful, but upon booting the computer, at the sign on screen (with the rocky beach picture with the ocean in the background) the screen would just flicker and not allow me to sign in or go past that point. So I went back to Windows 7. It appears to be a display driver issue but I see that HP has not released any display drivers for Windows 10 for the ProBook 4530s. Even if I had the driver's ready on an external flash drive or something, how am I supposed to install them if the screen keeps flickering and not allowing me to get to the desktop. I have also hooked up an external monitor and the same thing happens...  How do I get the proper drivers installed -especially Display and Wireless Networking drivers,,,,before doing the upgrade attempt again to Windows 10? Thanks for any help you can provide!

I have a HP Probook 4530s that is double booted with Windows 7 and OSX and has 8 GB of RAM. It is running the version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit that came with the computer. None of the original software has been removed. I have been having some issues with my hardware consuming most of the RAM in Windows 7 to the point where I only have 2.9 GB of usable RAM (I had the same amount of usable RAM when the computer had 4 GB of installed RAM). Windows detects that I have 8 GB of RAM installed so I don't think it is an issue with how the RAM is installed. (Additionally, I can use all of the RAM in OSX). How can I fix this issue?

Hello and welcome mostly I reckon you should look at what is being used at boot up > Start > type msconfig > right click run as admin and go to the tab Start you will see what is being loaded at boot up you can then work through some of the bloatware which sounds like lot of your problem too and untick them see my on boot pic.

Hi: This is a peer to peer forum. HP maintains no official presence here. What model wireless card does your notebook have? The processor you posted and Intel HD 3000 graphics are widi capable according to this... http://ark.intel.com/products/53469/Intel-Core-i7-2670QM-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_10-GHz So, it is down to the wireless card.

My ProBook 4530 laptop (A7KO5UT) running on Windos 7 Home Premium (64bit) does not charge my battery. This computer is only several weeks old and has had this problem since I first started it. Whenever I boot the computer with the AC adapter and battery both connected, it tells me that my battery's energy levels are depleting and that there are no signs of an AC adapter being connected. The AC adapter however works perfectly fine when I use it on another computer and perfectly fine when I run my laptop with just the AC adapter as the sole power source. I contacted HP about this issue via chat and was given another battery. However, this battery did nothing to change the situation at hand. Should I assume that this second battery is also defected, or is this more likely a problem with my BIOS, or something of that nature? Thanks for any help in this matter whatsoever.

A:Battery Will Not Charge (ProBook 4530s)

This sounds more like a problem with a mismatched power adapter or a battery controller on the motherboard. What is the wattage on the ac adapter you're using?

Hello I have bought hp probook 4530s and While I am Using it I found that the battery does not last for long time or it finishes quickly. I mean I am do ing my work and suddenly the computer shuts down  So, MY question is : Is there any solution to avoid this problem??

A:hp probook 4530s battery problem

Can you provide a bit more information on your battery problem?
You say the battery doesn't last a long time, how long does it last when working from a full charge (100%)?  When it is shuts down, does it just turn off with no warning, or does it give you a warning and tell you to plug the notebook in soon before shutting down?  How old is the battery in the Notebook?  What operating system are you using?
If you have HP Support Assistant installed, then I would recommend opening it, and running the battery test and battery calibration, that will at least tell you something about the condition of the battery.
Good Luck!

I have been trying to format my laptop as the screen keeps blacking out and the laptop is working very slowly.I read a few forums to check how to do this. It says to use HP recovery and back up program, which for some reason isn't on my laptop. My laptop does have a partition of the hard drive for recovery but I can't see any of these files. I also followed the steps by turning off my computer, restarting the laptop,  pressing "esc", then pressing F11, but this does not work and just loads up windows without doing anything. I did read you can buy recovery discs from HP, however when I type in my model it doesn't give me that option. I'm now completely stuck what to do and don't want to buy a new laptop, can anyone help me with this issue ASAP please.

Hi: If the F11 recovery method didn't work, you can: Order a set of W7 recovery media from HP...In the USA/Canada, call:  1-800-334-5144. If you can still read all 25 characters of the W7 product key on your PC's case, you can make your own W7 installation media and use that to reinstall W7. This site claims to have genuine, unadulterated W7 ISO files for download... https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/67-microsoft-windows-iso-download-tool Click on the link labeled Windows ISO Downloader.exe You can use either the:  Win 7 Home/Pro SP1 (as applicable to the product key) or the (Retail version, but the  OEM key on your PC's case will work with it)  Win 7 Home/Pro SP1 COEM (as applicable to the product key)  (This version would be for what HP would have used--System Builder) N is for European Union (EU) countries. K is for South Korean markets. Then you can use this tool to transfer the file to a 4 GB USB flash drive or a DVD. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool

I want to upgrade my hp probook 4530s's processor from intel cor i3 which processor can my used ?

A:Hp probook 4530s processor upgrade000

Here is the Service Manual: Manual It appears you can install an i7-2670QM Quad Core, but we have had several reports of no go situations when people try to upgrade what had been a dual core to a Quad Core. I suggest if you really want to do it, you stick with the i7-2620M dual core, which would be a significant upgrade from any of the i3 models.  Post back with any more questions.  https://www.amazon.com/Intel-i7-2620M-SR03F-Dual-core-Processor/dp/B00PJQE8ZI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid...  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

I have installed Windows 8.1 and downloaded all drivers from HP website. However, screen resolution is only 1024x768. It also says (popup window) that ATI driver isn't good. I have tried all drivers for this model including driver for Windows 8 and 8.1. Nothing helps. Resolution is still 1024 and stretched. Graphic is Ati Radeon HD 7470m

Just to add that on Windows 7 everything worked perfectly but I want to upgrade.

ankush2 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post about needing Win10 drivers for your laptop and wanted to help. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the problem you're up against is that Microsoft only supplies drivers with the most basic functionality, and what you really need for FULL functionality in laptops is the specialized drivers written for the specific hardware found in laptops -- and unfortunately, there are no HP Win10 drivers for your laptop. However, for MS-supplied drivers that aren't working well, you could consider using HP Win8 drivers -- although there's no guarantee that those drivers will work.  Here's the link to the HP Product drivers and software page for Win8 for your PC:  http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5060881&lang=en&cc=usWhen that page opens, select Windows 8x using the operating system pulldown. You might have to install the drivers using compatibility mode: http://www.windows10forums.com/articles/compatibility-mode.7/Good Luck
