Impossibly Slow Wifi Speed, Brand New Computer.

Q: Impossibly Slow Wifi Speed, Brand New Computer.

Hi all.
I recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite C50-A02-V running Windows 8 Home Edition.

I've never really had the fastest internet, but its always been alright for what I used it for... untill i purchased this computer. Suffice it to say the internet is... a little below sub par.
Heres a speedtest...

My phone, My sisters Laptop running windows 7, even my old 2006 IBM running Linux all are getting speedtests with Download speeds of at least 5-6Mbps from the same router, with at least 5-6Mbps.
And yet here I am, brand new computer in hand, with memories of dialup floating through my head.

I've been on message boards trying to find an answer to this for hours. I've changed the Wireless settings to not turn off the Wifi. I've checked Toshiba's Website and downloaded the latest WLAN driver. I deleted literally every last ounce of bloatware from the computer when I got it, so I don't THINK that's an issue. There's no torrents or security running either.

Basicaly I have no idea what to do.

Now the weird thing is if I turn the computer on, and do a speedtest right away, I'm getting a fast Ping and a download of 5 Mbps instead of the 0.6...

Any Help or ideas on what to do?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Did you try an ethernet cable instead of wireless? If that works normally, read on...

I had a problem like this many years ago, it turned out to be something wrong with the drivers for the network card I was using. To fix it, go into device manager and find the entry for the wireless network adapter (eg "xyz wireless network adapter"). Right click on the adapter and select "remove". Reboot the machine. It should detect the adapter as new hardware and reinstall the drivers for the network hardware. Of course you may need to supply the drivers at this point if they are not available on the machine.

This is somewhat techy and if you are not a level 2 nerd you may want to get a qualified friend to help...

I live in an area where DSL is not available, so I'm using a dial up connection (AOL 9.0) Our old computer (Dell Dimension 4100, Win ME) would get anywhere from 50 to 53.3K speed and when it wasn't locking up had reasonable internet speed. We recently purchased a new computer (E machines C2825) and the speed rarely reaches over 35K using the same access numbers. It has XP home. Is there a way to get the speed up? Even though it is a 56K modem, is there something that would limit the speed, and if so can I change it? Or should I return the E-machines while it's still under warranty and quit while I'm not so far behind?

A:Slow dial up speed on brand new computer

Is this the exact same phone connection that you used before?

A lot of things can affect the speed, but few have much to do with the computer or modem themselves.

The phone connections must be in excellent condidion since even a small problem with a bad connection or corrosion can make a lot of difference to a dialup connection.

When I first moved into "this old house", 35 was all I could get. But unscrewing all the phone connections and cleaning to bare copper, from the computer to the box outside gave me solid 53.3 connections after that. Even the connections on the modem itself and the wire going in can be cleaned with a Q-Tip and alcohol.

In the Control Panel under modem settings, some say speed can be achieved by turning off flow control (hardly a problem with new computers---old ones sometimes couldn't keep up) and be sure compression is enabled.

Check that all your modem speed settings are at or above its capacity, and look for the newest driver you can find.

If you like the computer and it works well, I certainly wouldn't consider returning it for this alone. New modems can be gotten for $10.

The number of other devices connected to the same phone line should also be limited. The more answering machines, extensions, caller ID's on the line, the slower it will be.

And limit the length of phone cords. If you have 20 feet of rolled up phone wire behind the computer, get a shorter wire .

That's all I can think of at the moment. Othe... Read more

My computer is very, impossibly slow, to the point of being essentially frozen whenever I attempt to do anything.
Even attempting to open the start menu simply causes the start menu to stop responding, and if I leave my computer and come back perhaps half an hour later, many times it is still trying to open the start menu.
I suspect malware or viruses, but I have run a number of scans and none of them have turned up anything. I have run:
Malwarebytes full scan
Avast boot time scan
Webroots deep scan and full scan
Spybot full scan
The Webroot UI says that a threat has been detected, but any scans do not find it. I have noticed that the deepscan usually will get hung up on a system32 .dll file (i don't think it's the same one every time), but after some time the scan will still get through and complete (it might take half an hour on that single file though). My computer still runs fine in safe mode and also in my small linux partition (do not mistake me for someone who is knowledgable about computers, my roommate set up the partition for me). This was a very sudden change that happened a few days ago, where my computer went from kind of sluggish to just full lock down. I did not download any applications right before this happened. I have run the webroot system cleanup just in case it helped, but it did not and I am fairly convinced that my problems are being caused by malware so I have not looked into other methods of speeding up my computer.

when bandwidth tested through www.speedtest.net shows normal download speeds:5.1mbps however actual download speeds are around 12-100kbps, other computers on this network are downloading properly. Troubleshooting steps I have already taken: Tried different router, tried different cables, changed NIC card, disabled QoS packet scheduler, moved computer to different location entirely (friends internet tested at 16mbps on speedtest.net, download speeds were around 600kbps, all other computers in the house were downloading at acceptable speeds), updated drivers

I just got a new Lenovo Ideapad y500 a few days ago, and the internet speed has been incredibly slow from the get-go. Loading images on pages takes way longer than it should, I can't watch streaming videos that last 4 minutes without it pausing to buffer every 5-10 seconds. It took about 20 minutes to download a 50mb file. My 4 year old laptop loads everything way faster, especially when downloading files. I did a ping test on both and everything was about the same, except I got a download speed of .75 mb/s on the new laptop, and between 12-17 mb/s on the old laptop. My new laptop is up to date with the wireless drivers and I'm not sure what else to try to do to fix it.

Here are the speeds of the new laptop from speedtest.net
Ping: 25 ms
Download speed: .75 mbps
Upload speed: 4.10 mpbs

Edit: my wireless card is Intel Centrino Wireless N-2230 and the router is linksys wrt150n wireless-n

Copying files of about 1MB each today (jpegs) from my laptop (an Asus X44H - has one USB 3.0 slot) to a Kingston USB 3.0 stick I am seeing rates of about 400kb/sec

I rebooted and things are a fraction faster, but still absurdly slow.

I spent a long time troubleshooting this a bout a year ago - going through various forum posts, installing drivers that were recommended.. uninstalling them (and using System Restore) when they didn't help or made things worse. I gave up. But I think it's time for another go. No idea really how to proceed differently this time. Can anyone advise?

I attach a screenshot of my Device Manager window,

A:Impossibly slow USB 3.0..

Have you tried running Crystal Disk Mark on the stick?

On my system I always use fsutil to get a bit more throughput. I turn off the file access update. Also set the behavior memoryusage to 2 to increase system file buffers. Not that it will make these transfers fast. If you copy one large file.. say a GB file, what speed does Explorer show? For USB 3.0 to a US 3.0 stick you should see better than 24 MB/s copy on a large file(and possibly much faster but below that would be trouble I would think.)

But transfer of lots of files at a shot typically drops the rate way down due to overhead.

The other factor is if the stick is set to Write Caching enabled.

I share a wireless internet with a neighbour. We have had problems with it disconecting etc etc but virgin media sorted it out and its been great. They said to alter it to channel 11, but im not sure if that was the initial problem.

Over the last week my internet has been terrible. I cant load facebook at al, and if i click IE icon, google loads straight away then any site I go to is just taking forever.

I called in lst night to see my neighbour, he is on wireless too and his internet is just fine. I have reinstalled windows on another partition to no avail. I tried to download firfox to try a different browser and my download manager said 9 hours? its ony about 10 mb.

Last night it was fine then all of a sudden it just dies off. I have been meaning to try a different PC to see if its any better but havent managed to borrow one (laptop) Its really baffling me?

odd thing is it died off earlier i tried pinging this address as suggested i another thread....

I have searched the old forums as I just know this issue has been raised before but can't find the answer - apologies for a repost!

Using My Computer, I have been trying to simply transfer 700 MB of a CD containing 170 MP3 songs to a hard drive folder via the drag 'n drop technique.

The transfer time varies from four days down to in excess of fifteen hours.

I have been into Programs and Features and turned off "Remote Differential Compression" but no joy!

It is not just one CD, it is every one I try to copy and they all work and play fine on any media device with no read errors.

I have download the latest Vista Service Pack but still the same.

The transfer rate is around ther 25kb/sec mark - hence the long copying time.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Aloha all,

I have had incredible problems since this afternoon. My less than 1 month old system, which was quite fast and would boot up in under 30 seconds, has slowed to a crawl. Boot now takes several minutes, and I am not certain it actually finishes as I've noticed that Steam usually won't load. Any actions (even the Start Menu) take at least several seconds to execute; some won't fire for a couple minutes. Firefox and Windows Explorer are so slow as to be practically unusable. Also, Norton Internet Security doesn't load as active (that is, the icon in the hidden icons box has a red X instead of a green Check). The Action Center program, when activated, tells me that it has been disabled; no amount of turning it on will change this.

Safe Mode works just fine; there are no performance issues there. I have attempted to use System Restore twice (backing up to configs from the 12th and then the 10th), but both attempts failed. On both occasions it told me that an unspecified error occurred (0xc0000022). Then, after restarting in safe mode yet again, it said it was successful. I also removed everything other than Norton from the list in msconfig. This did not seem to do anything. The Startup Folder contains nothing other than an HP utilities program.

I have noticed a couple of odd occurrences prior to today. A couple of days ago NetGear's wireless card program loaded like I'd just installed it. The Aero theme occasionally has reset its colour scheme as well o... Read more

Ok guys, this has been a thorn in my side for months. Have a Shuttle XPC, 2.83GHz Pentium III, 3.25 GB RAM, Win XP Pro with SP3.

DVD/CD-ROM drive is listed as HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH22NS30. It's an LG (link at bottom).

Playing DVD's and CD's is fine. However, BURNING is a nightmare. Despite it not being in PIO mode, my burning takes forever. I am getting maybe 2x speed. DMA if available is always listed when I get into device manager. I've had three installs (the most recent yesterday) on this system and it is always the same thing. Slooooooow.

LG is no help. After researching this for I don't know how long, I think I have no choice but to ask for help.

Solutions? What could be happening here? Could it be switching to PIO mode on its own when burning, but still show DMA every time I check settings? I am just stumped.

Anyone have any advice for me?Yes, should be plenty (I hope) -installing the "mandatory" comcast's Constant Guard? Protection Suite << I believe this can be removed - Queen-Evie should confirm this -downloading the provided Norton << This option is usually just to make sure you have an Antivirus - Remove it - Did you have another a/virus installed ??Router: Belkin N150. Modem: Provided by Comcast. << They should reset your Router / Modem settings if required (free)Comcast is known for quick setups that require fine tuning and they get a lot of calls on bad setups -You will have a Service number to call - Use it now so they can fix your settings as soon as you get a chance -I am pulling around 250 KB/s download and 2000 KB/s upload. This does not make any sense to me. << Sounds like it should be reversed ??Is this result from Speed Test Site ?? As they seem the most reliable for download and upload tests.I've tried restoring to a previous time << You need the current settings that have been installed by Comcast, not older ones -Final line from me - Call Comcast A.S.A.P. and have THEM check why their install is faulty - Grab a coffee and a well charged phone and wait Thank You -

Hello. I hope somebody can help me with a Windows Explorer problem. I've tried searching for a solution on the net but whenever I put the search terms in I am overwhelmed with articles about how to fix folders which are slow to load when opened - which is not the issue.

All my folders load very rapidly, so that's fine. The problem comes when I want to select and drag files within the folders - especially but not solely graphics files. It goes like this.

I eyeball the list of files I want to highlight, and click on the top or bottom one. Then I go away and read a book for two or three minutes until the cursor comes back to life. Then I go back into Explorer and highlight the file at the other end of the group, and then I go and read a book for two or three minutes until Explorer deigns to highlight the group, Then I try to click and drag on it, and the cursor turns into an hourglass. Then I go and read a book for around ten minutes, then try again, and if I'm lucky, finally it moves and copies to where I want it. If not, I read another chapter.

When I was using Windows 7 I used to back up every one or two nights. Now that I'm on Windows 10 I only backup about once in ten days, because instead of being able to copy any updated files in around three minutes, I now have to set aside around an hour and a half.

Right-clicking on individual files to bring up the list of options also takes an extraordianrily long time, though not as long as highlighting does. ... Read more

As always check to make sure you have the most up to date driver from Asus. Also check and/or disable any software firewall that may be negatively affecting the connection.

Another thought that comes to mind is... what are you connecting to with this wifi card? Is this your own network, or? What is the signal strength of this connection? Screenshots may be helpful here.

my wifi seems very slow under Windows 8 and is acting like its been "capped" by something.

When running Windows 7, I was getting approx 60MB actually download rate off of my apparent 120MB Virgin Media service, now that I am on Windows 8 it appears to be running at 20MB.

The drivers have been updated to the one that was on the manufacturers website, before the update was applied my download was capped at 1MB.

Does something need changing / tweaking on Windows 8 to make it more friendly to high speed broadband?

I have un-installed and re-installed my Linksys E1200 wireless N300 router several times, and can only achieve about .5 MBPS d/l and ~6.0 MBPS u/l data speeds, on a 3 year old HP laptop, running Windows 7. This is wireless service, and the laptop is within 4 feet of the router. I have Comcast service on my desktop, and my "connected" normal d/l speed is ~30 MBPS, with ~5 MBPS u/l. Don't know what else to do. I have connected the laptop directly to the modem, and get 30 MBPS speed, so there is something I'm missing in the wireless router setup.

I need help desperately. The wifi speed of my Hp Probook 455 G3  (16gb Ram with 1tb drive) is ridiculously slow - Download at 2 Mbps and Upload at less than 1 Mbps.  My desktop right next to it is tested at 81 Mbps and 91 Mbps.  I have reserched and followed every advice I could find, short of getting into the Windows Registry to remove Cortana.  I have reset the PC several times to try different settings to no avail.  I have disabled Bluetooth, VPN, Cortana, location search...    Also unchecked "Allow the computer to turn off this device..." both of the network adapters - as adviced somewhere from my research. Just to indicate that this is not normal, the wifi speed of my Asus notebook is running very well. I will appreciate your help.  Or should I just give it all up?

I have done multiple speedtest from www.speedtest.net over the past 3 days and when I am directly connected to my modem, my download speed is roughly 35 MBPS however, when I am on wifi (literally 5 feet from the router) my download speed is roughly 20 MBPS. I have the Belkin F5D8236-4 router found here http://www.engadget.com/products/belkin/f5d8236-4/.

Is this slowdown of speed due to my router/interference or what?

My Sony Vaio laptop is experiencing slow internet speed even though the signal level shows as excellent. This is only when using it upstairs, where it is normally used. In the same room as the router it is fine. This has only just starting happening and it was OK anywhere in the house until a couple of days ago. To make it even more confusing my wife's notebook and my iphone work fine on the network in the bedroom. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello all tech guy users!!

I am having a really frustrating time with my wifi signal recently.
Here are the symptoms:

Max distance from router in which I can receive a signal is about 15 ft
Really slow upload and download speeds from MY laptop only.My fiance's laptop had a DL speed of 18Mps, and I don't remember the UL, but it was much better than mine. Screenshot to follow...
Internet will drop out while I still show connectivity to the router and then seconds later the router signal will drop out completely
Just now my signal dropped out and from my laptop which is sitting three feet from my fiance's laptop. Hers has internet just fine...
What I have tried so far:

Changed Routers
Changed broadcast channel on both routers
Updated the driver for my wireless network adapter
Virus Scan
Malwarebytes Full Scan
Xirrus Wifi Inspector run. Screenshot to follow
Removed Windows' ability to shut off my network adapter to save energy
This problem occurred for the first time one week ago today. I have been getting by since then, but the hassle is getting to me.
Full disclosure time...
Right before this happened, I had an issue with my laptop where the battery was not getting a charge. I tested the power available to the plug and found the proper voltage there. I took the cover off of the laptop and found that a solder joint between the power plug and one of the wires had come loose. I re-soldered the wire and it charged up no problemo...I took the cover back off ... Read more

I have upgraded my OS from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After the installation the internet speed is slow down like a dial in connection (it is slow down if I am using wifi connection and it is fine if I am using a cable/wired connection). It is taking long time to load the web page (like google, gmail etc) and it is not streaming any video from youtube/netflix. I spend one day for fixing this issue but don't know how to fix this.
Please help me to how to fix this issue ( increase the internet speed using wifi connection)? or how I will revert back to Windows 8.1?

A:WIFI Internet speed is slow down after upgrading to Windows 10

Hi All,
The slow internet connectivity using through the wifi is resolved. I update all the device software from the device manager (especially network card - Realtek) and after that I am able stream the video and it is fast now.

I connect my PC to my router using a wifi dongle (I wish I could use Ethernet but it's just not practical). My router is a D-Link Wireless AC1900, my dongle is an Asus USB-AC56. They connect strongly, usually at 585Mbps. My incoming internet connection is passed through from the modem to the router. The modem isn't broadcasting a Wifi signal. My internet is a fibre connection provided by talktalk.

When testing with Speedtest, my iPad, mobile phone, Macbook and other devices typically see down speeds of 40-60Mbps and up speeds of 15-19Mbps, which is roughly what they should. (I mean, I'm paying for 80Mbps, but whatever.) My PC will occasionally get the same, but very often the download is erratic and slow, something like 1-5Mbps, and I don't know how to rectify it. (The upload isn't a problem, so what I'm usually getting is an up speed that's 4-15x my down speed.)

The problem doesn't seem to be with the router or modem, given that my other devices are getting good speeds, and it doesn't help to troubleshoot through Windows because as far as my PC's concerned, it's getting an internet connection, it doesn't care about the speed, so it doesn't suggest any solution.

I have tried various combinations of restarting the computer, unplugging the dongle, restarting AND unplugging, and every once in a while after being plugged back in it starts to reach the 40-60Mbps range, but there's no consistency to it. (And I'm scared to turn the computer off because if I do it'll probably lose... Read more

Hey guys,

As the title says... I'm just eeking by on this thing. It started acting this way about a week ago and hasn't let up since.

I'm running XP sp3, Core2 T7200 (2.0 ghz), 1 gb RAM

Its a few years old, but its been pretty darned fast until about a week ago. I havent installed any new software and my ad/spy/virus software seems to think I'm doing ok on that front.

The cpu usage hovers at about 90% at all times with the major hogs being taskmgr, explorer and whichever browser I'm using.

Certain things dont seem to be too affected though. Folders open quickly, videos play smoothly and downloads are the same speed they ever were.

On the other hand, startup has noticeably lengthened, exe's take their time opening, and browsing is near impossibly slow.

I posted this under 'hardware' mostly because it seems to be a cpu failure (?) but also because the fan hasn't stopped spinning, loudly, since this started.

Please note, I'm ok with day-to-day computer use, but if you guys need a diagnostic run, I'd appreciate a walk-through.

Thanks so much!

I have a ASUS N550JK-DS71T laptop which has about half the download speed with wifi compared to a similar laptop (with a N-type wireless card) right next to it. So this issue is not due to ISP or router. Upload speed is fine.
I used speedtest.net.
Laptop has the INTEL AC 7260 wireless card with the latest driver on Asus website (V17.0.1.5).
I checked the power settings and they are on High Performance.
I have a N-router set to N.

Would you know any settings in BIOS, Windows, INTEL to check/change to fix this.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

A:ASUS N550JK-DS71T - slow download speed with wifi

That is a dual-band adapter in the laptop. From the sound of it you have a 2.4Ghz single-band router. Try turning off the 5GHz band on the laptop adapter if there is an option to do so.

Also, there are newer drivers dated August for that adapter on the Intel site: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sea...14&ProdId=3714

Hey Guys!!! I have updated my G50-70 to Creators Update - Windows 10 Home Single Language x64 and ever since i have updated i noticed that my wifi speed has been very slow on my connection which is 90Mbps.When i open the status of Wifi it shows the link speed of 54Mbps and am getting around only 20Mbps Download and Upload Speed. So i did reset of my modem and re-installed the drivers and when i restarted and once again i viewed the status of my Wifi, it shows the link speed of 150Mbps and i got a full speed of my broadband plan i.e 90Mbps Download and Upload Speed. But at the end of the day, mostly i will put my lap on sleep mode and when i turn my lap back, it shows wifi is disconnected and when i try to connect it says can't connect to this network and finally i forget that wifi and again connected but again my link speed has been reset to 54Mbps and now am again getting 20Mbps Download and Upload Speed.sFianlly i tried to update the drivers using Driverpack Solution and IOBit driver installer and i got the link speed of 72Mbps which gives 55Mbps of Download and Upload speed but soon after the restarting of my lap, it reset again to 54Mbps of link speed.I don't know which one is causing problems to my WIFI Driver. Please anyone help me to get rid of this issue!!! Thank you!!

Hi all,

My Belkin N300 wireless router is now experiencing intermittent slow Internet speed. The router is 2 years old and has worked perfectly until last week.

Here are the troubleshooting steps I completed.

Internet speed test when directly plugged into the wireless router and cable modem: 30mbps
Internet speed using laptop wifi: 2 mbps then sometimes works at normal speed
Called ISP and they verified there was a connectivity to cable modem issue. Did a power cycle for modem and router. Then got full 30mbps from cable modem to ISP using direct connect to laptop.
tested other devices such as laptops and tablets, all experiencing intermittent slow speed
when experiencing slow wifi, switched to direct connect ethernet cable to router and got immediate full 30mpbs

So far all my testing is pointing to the Belkin router's wifi connectivity. I will check on the router's firmware since it has never been updated.
I also found a thread online suggesting disabling QOS on the router. But this should not be needed as it was working fine for two years since its purchase.

Any suggestions to what else I can do to resolve this issue?

I use burn4free and always use the same Memorex brand DVD+ 16X Discs. Yet most of the time they will only burn at 6X and every now and then at 12X and sometimes at 8X. Never at 16X even though I always have it set to Max speed as this is my only option. It doesn't seem to matter if I have any other programs running or not since I always close everything while burning. I failed at finding any info on this anywhere online as this is quite a difficult thing to search up. Help me please?

A:The same brand dvd's burn at max speed sometimes and a slower speed other times?

Poor quality media. Try a different brand type of media.

Quality media is recommended. For SL DVD, this would be Verbatim or Taio Yuden. For DL DVD, Verbatim only. Anything else is trial and error and will vary based on your burner and firmware version.

PLEASE HELP!.

Recently bought a Dell Optiplex 3010 with the following:

Core i5
6GB Ram
Intel Graphics
64-bit OS; Windows 7

I use ZERO ram-intensive programs (basically Exchange-based Outlook, a CRM system and Chrome).

The computer takes 5-7 to fully start-up and its generally very slow.

Any tips/help is greatly appreciated?

A:Brand new computer. Why is everything running so slow?

What is a "CRM system"?

Did it boot up and run slow from the start? or only after you added your programs?

Does the OptiPlex (which is a business model) have the Dell Recovery Partition, like the "consumer" model PC's do? If it does and it ran OK initially, I would really consider a complete reinstall back to the original factory condition.

If it ran slow from the start, and it was purchased from Dell, it wouild be best to contact them as only Dell support can do any warranty.

I have a brand new HP All-in-One - 19-2412  that is the slowest computer I've ever had. There are no troubleshooting tasks, no possible explanations or even a list of things to check! I am extremely frustrated with this unit. What can be done??

A:Brand new computer is extremely slow

The theory behind that product line was simplicity, uncluttered appearance, and basic computing.  The processor speed is only 1.35GHz, and the unit has only 4GB of RAM (motherboard memory).  Did you look at the specifications before you bought it?

I just got this computer about 2 weeks ago, and ALREADY I am getting lag problems. I have the CPU widget, and when I am JUST on the web browser, I get about 50-70 CPU being used. My specs are:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+
Nvidia GeForce GT 430
And if it helps, I AM using an external HDD for most of my programs, since the original PC came with only 250 GB.

A:Computer becoming extremely slow. It's brand new.

Which applications do you have installed to the external?
What connection type and speed is the external HDD?

I'm not sure I would install applications to a USB 2.0 drive. Especially if the applications are used frequently. I know I wouldn't if the application installs memory resident system monitors that run 24/7. However I usually disable these monitors from running at startup as well.

i have cable internet that is connected to a belkin wireless router. one computer gets slow internet access when connected to this. multiple other computers get better speed. the one affected computer gets fast speeds when accessing the internet at other locations, like a friend's house. also, the affected computer gets fast speeds when connected to the router by a cable.

so the problem seems to be very specific to the connection between these specific devices.

the laptop in question is a thinkpad e420 running windows 7.
