I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When I use WMP 11, I tend to drop folders of files onto the RH side Now Playing window. These are usually audio books with multiple small files. Anyway, I used to be able to make WMP open with the Now Playing window, but more recent versions (10, 11) seem only to open on Library. I know it's no big deal to click the tab, but can I set WMP to always open on the Now Playing window?

Hay Folks, trust you all had a great Christmas.

I have a problem, I need to rip a DVD of family past history, but All I see is Rip Cd. Now I know it can do it but I do not know how to configure Windows Media Player to do it. I look in Help support but it ant tell me nothing.

Can you guys give me some simple step by step ideas how to do it. I need to rip it then burn a copy of it for another family member.

I sure would appreciate it/ DC and God Bless. .

A:window media player/how to rip DVD

What file format is the DVD in? Go to My Computer,Put the disc and and browse the disc. If it is a DVD file format, there will be 2 folders in the root of the disc. VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS the audio file should be empty (don't ask why). In the VIDEO_TS folder there should be VOB files. If there are any other kinds of files besides those mentioned, it is not a DVD movie disc.
Commercial DVD movies discs have the above mentioned file structure and have Macrovision copywrite protection on them and cannot be legally copied. If this is a home made DVD, that's to say is not a store bought commercial DVD, then you can choose to COPY DVD in any CD burning program to make a DVD copy of the disc. Like Nero, Roxio, or any software that came with your burner. You can Try the free C D Burner XP
If the disc is not a DVD movie file format (as mentioned above) you can copy the files to your HDD and burn them to another disc. No software required to copy.

A:Window Media Player Help

Hello ShadowGal89,

I'm not seeing anything in this log. Can you tell us exactly what the pop up says?

Let's use a program to scan for any trojans that may exist. Download TDS-3 http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=download. Learn how to use it at http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=easytouse. Make sure to update it after you installed it. You can get the manual updates at http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=update.

When you launch the program, it will scan your memory for running processes. This will take less than 30 seconds. Next go to 'System Testing' on the menu and choose 'Full System Scan'. After that's finished, post the log file by selecting everything on the top pane (select from bottom to top).

If any alarms are found, it will be listed in the bottom window. Please copy and paste that here also if it applies. If you have problems copying the text, look (or search) for a file named scandump.txt and see if that has the alarms - post that here.

why can't you buy a Genuine Copy of Windows? All you need is a valid serial/product key and you can change the key in your system. Why can't you take it back to where you bought it and demand a Genuine Copy of Windows? Once you have a valid key, you can call Microsoft to help you change the key.

A:window media player

Hi, TSG has a policy of not allowing us to help users posting questions regarding usage of filesharing or P2P programs...and since your question does pertain partly to Limewire, we cannot help you.

Depending on your location, filesharing for you might be illegal, or legal, it is in some countries, but is not supported here at the TSG forums, sorry!

Our only advice would be to uninstall all P2P programs, run scans for adware/spyware and trojans, and also, uninstall and reinstall your Windows Media Player.

Why can't I post questions about P2P (Kazaa, etc)?
If you read our site rules, you'll discover that you may not post questions on how to use Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks such as BearShare, Kazaa, and the like. Although these programs, in and of themselves, are NOT illegal, they were designed and are used almost exclusively in an illegal manor. We do not support the illegal distribution of copyrighted material and will not answer questions regarding software designed to do so. A:window media player problem

This didn't work for me, but it's one of the first things I have tried and I've read that it's worked for other people. Goto Control Panel -> Programs -> Default Programs -> Set Default Programs and make sure WMP11 is your default program for WMP11. You can also go to Set Associations which is in the same area.

If that doesn't work, open up WMP11 and click on Tools -> Options and then click on the Network tab. Make sure all the Protocols are checked. You don't need the 'use ports' option checked though. Under Multicast Streams make sure it's checked and under Streaming Proxy Settings, make sure HTTP is set to Browser and under RTSP is set to None.

I'm just relaying the settings to why I have now since mine is working now...I reformatted. I didn't reformat because of the WMP11 problem, but because of a wonderful MS update that I got on Tuesday (the normal day they issue their updates). For some reason, it totally borked my system and System Restore wouldn't even work, but that's another topic.

If you've not tried these settings, try them, if so, I think the only way to fix this is to reinstall WMP11 and I have no idea how to install it since it won't let you unless you haven't allowed any updates to WMP11.

I currently have Windows Media Player 10.

The only write drive I have is a 7 year old Mitsumi which it seems will only write using Roxio mad: ) which I find to be the most frustrating program I have ever worked with.
And I don't ever want to have to work with it again. It tells me to use "Sound Editor" to change the format, but does not tell me where this mysterious editor is located.

I have been thinking of buying an external drive that will read, and write CDR, CDRW and DVD.
And I want them to be able to play on my other players that say they will play these computer creations. (none of which will play Roxio's)

I need to know if they will work with WMP 10.
Will they be able to record the WMP visuals - I like those swirling colors.
Will the DVD recordings be able to play on the audio part on the Audio only players?

Can someone tell me in layman's language what I should look for and what questions to ask when purchacing this unit?

Thanks for any info.

I am new to Win Media Player, and have a couple of questions:
#1 It takes longer to rip a cd into the library than it does to listen to it. Is there a way to speed this up.

I am primarily interested in downloading books to my MP3 player.

#2 After ripping the CD into the library, a list pops up showing the chapters. When I try playing them I find that sometimes the first chapter has not been riipped and that some chapters are repeated. I am wondering what is going on here.

Does anyone have suggestions or tips on how to use this media player with my mp3 player?

Thanks in advance, Kelle

I have two questions:

The first: I have created a web page that uses the Windows Media Player object (classID ends with AA6) to play a video. The video plays for users when they go the page sometimes but not everytime. The same user can come back to the page the next day and it doesn't play and then does again the next day. What are the possible causes?

The second: I have created another web page with the WMP object that also uses an .asx file so it can link closed captions on an .smi file. The video plays with captions on my test server but won't play at all on my production server. The paths to the files look accurate. What are the possible causes?

just a quick question about windows media player version 10.

how come it displays the album art for some of the songs in my library and not others ... even if the song is from the same album??? i was using version 9 and didn't take notice which songs it displayed the art for and which ones it didn't, but now that i'm paying more attention, i feel like verison ten isn't doing the same as version nine did. is it possible that one does a better job displaying the ablum art and info than the other?

is there anyway to manually put in the info so the album pic shows while the song plays?

A:Solved: Window Media Player 10

Check the "Tag Info" for each file - it needs to contain the album name, or WMP won't know what album that track is from.

I took my Pee Cee to the doctors cus it was really, really sick. It was found to be a component breakdown on the motherboard. On paying a Kings or is it Queens ransom to bail out my Pee Cee, I found to my dismay they had somehow managed to delete Mailwasher, all my e-mails after 2004, and uninstalled the sound files from Windows Media Player.

I am sure that as time goes by I am going to find other little surprises too. I consoled myself with the fact it was NOT the end of the world as we know it, so I pulled myself together and downloaded Windows Media player 11 and although I can now play CD?s and DVD?s and hear the sound, I don?t get the colourful mesmerizing visual moving displays I had before, lots of them!

I would imagine it?s the same rich and numbing effect one would experience after inhaling ?Happy Dust? and I really miss it. I have gone through all the options on ?view? to no avail and even downloaded an eye-catching addition for my new Windows Media display which I also cannot find, and is no doubt rotting in a lost file somewhere in a partition on the hard drive it has carved out for itself.

I will not lose any sleep over this minor distraction but I would appreciate some clever person out there who can gently guide me to recover this visual feast that has been taken cruelly from me, if only to satisfy my own selfish gratification. Thank you!

Since upgrading to Windows 7, Windows Media Player hasn't been saving my window size after closing. I have "Fit Player to Video" deselected yet every time I open a video file the Media Player window opens in the dimensions of the video file as if it were, instead of resizing to the size of the window before the last time I closed it. If I just open Windows Media Player though it remembers the size of the window and opens to those dimensions. I didn't have this problem in Vista. Does anyone know how to fix this so that when I open a video file it opens to the size of the window before the last time I closed Media Player?
