G700 audio driver problem

Q: G700 audio driver problem

For a week or so now I have had no audio on my new Lenovo G700, the speaker symbol on the taskebar has a red x on it, currently, no audio output device is installed is displaid when I move the mouse over it, detecting problems recomended driver reinstall is shown,

Device manager can not find drivers for it.

I attemp to reinstall audio windows 8.1 drivers downloading from the us and uk lenovo site, installation never works, always fails, stating incompatible, though I think should work, I uninstalled the previous not working driver, hoping a reinstall might fix it, still the Lenovo driver install fails, stating uncompatible

I have screenshots, unable to find where I can submit information to fix my issue.

I am hoping someone here might know what I can do to make the audio on my G700 i7 PC work,

I have installed the lenovo diagnostic tool many times, it never has worked, asking me to download it again, in a loop.

please help.

Thanks for reading!!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi Pastypete,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that the Audio is not working as expected in your G700 laptop and displaying red ?X? mark on the speaker icon on the taskbar, as the audio was working before some time ago and the driver is not getting installed in the computer. The only available option is to perform ?System Restore? in the computer and check if the issue persists. Below is the link for the steps to perform ?System Restore? in the computer.

I have been experiencing a few misc problems with this laptop and I am well aware that it is dying but I would like to know if any of this I can do a quick fix to help holding off till I finally can afford my gaming rig. 1. Restarting and shutting down can cause all audio and brightness control to no longer work. Usually after a a little while videos stop playing as well when audio goes out. Restarts usually a guarantee to do this when not fixing something. I go to device manager and unistall the audio parts and restart to fix that. I manually install a different driver to get my brightness control back whenever it stops working. I used to have this issue with my mic but that turned out to be damage from switching to windows 10 and back which is fixed now. 2. Background returned to windows 10 default as windows 8.1 . This only happened once but my background randomly changed from my game character to windows 10 default. Original picture was even missing from where I placed it. Re-downloaded and hasn't reverted back to windows 10 default background so far. Mostly curious if the picture randomly corrupted. 3. Random things in recycling bin. I randomly noticed StarCraft2 saves in my recycling bin. The problem is I had to google the game to even know what it is. Only thing I came up with is that maybe it's the account I'm using though I may be an idiot when it comes to this. As a handme down laptop I never bothered making a new profile and use it when logging in to... Read more

I'm running Windows 10 on a Lenovo G700 laptop. I just updated to the newest version of the Solution Center. It comes up all right, but when I try to run a hard ware scan (short version or long version) I get a Blue Screen of Death--the computer goes down with a "DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE" message.I've tried the following:Rin "sfc /scannow" several times, rebooting after each run--no system files problems, but stll get the BSoD;Checked in Device Manager--no yellow caution flags;Run Driver Booster (free)--all drivers up to date;Booted in Safe Mode--problem persisted; andDisconnected all peripherals--problem persists.I have no idea what to do next. Has anybody else seen this problem, and if so, how did you solve it? Thanks.

I restarted the computer and there was a mute symbol in the audio, and I got really surprised when I tried to unmute it and got a message like "there is no audio installed" . I went to the system settings and saw that 2 icons - Intel High Definition DSP and Intel High definition display audio had a yellow mark. I went to Lenovo's website and downloaded the driver and it didn't work. Then I found some instructions on microsoft's website. It worked but then I had to use the site again and... Not working! I made it work again but now there's a delay. Sometimes there's no delay on the sound and sometimes there's about 5 sec. Please, help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could you possibly tell us the exact Video card you are using. Maker and Model?

Is this the correct one? zotac synergy edition 4gb GT630? 650?

EDIT:

I see you have your own soundblaster Audio card? Does the motherboard have onboard sound card? If so, try disabling the onboard sound in the BIOS. See if that helps.

Hi
I have an Acer Aspire 5315 with Windows Vista. Around two weeks ago my computer started saying that there is no audio device installed. I went to Acer's website and downloaded the Realtek sound download for my model and operating system. When I ran it, it said "no drivers found" or "no driveres supported" (I'm sorry I can't remember which). So I deleted the file and downloaded it again and all it did was open the file and display the contents instead of running it automatically. Also, when I go to the control panel and look under sound it still tells me there is no audio device installed.

I don't know much about drivers. Honestly, I don't really know what a driver is or does. I've just been going on answers other people with "no audio device installed" questions have gotten. Can somebody please help me?

A:Problem with Audio Driver "No audio device installed"

Mel: When the file displayed its contents, did you look to see if there was a "Setup.exe" file?
If there is one, double click it and it should load the drivers.
Also, look in Device Manager for any yellow ? marks.

you need the actual driver rather than software, double check correct driver (motherboard driver) from site, possibly uninstall what you have done already and reinstall, sometimes these work better installing from safe mode, press f8 on start up

Hi all,

I have a BENQ Joybook S53, and after I installed W7 last night, the audio stopped working. It says that I have "no audio devices installed"...

It also happened to me last time when I rebooted my XP, but after I downloaded the audio driver everything went well. However, this time, even after I downloaded and installed the audio driver, it still says the same thing!!

I even went back to XP and copied all the files regarding to "drivers" and pasted into WINDOWS (under C drive) and some others under System32... But it still isnt working for me...
I think my audio device is "Conexant AMC 2 Channel Audio" when I checked in XP..

Thank you for your help.

Hi, According to your text report, your pc is a Toshiba Satellite L505D.
So the first and easiest move would be to go to Toshiba's site, they should have all the drivers for your pc.
http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe....=30&selType=all&country=8&language=13&search=

In the 'Driver type' box, scroll down to 'Sound driver'.
Then click on 'Search'. You will see a line with 'Realtek' in it, you need to click on the small red 'down arrow', to get the file, which will be in a 'zip' form, ready to download.

So, a week ago I noticed that left audio channel isn't as loud as right audio channel. I tought it was the earphones because the day after, they worked normal. A balanced audio on both channels. But 2 days ago the left channel only gave about 20% of audio. It was very quiet. I tested the earphones with my phone, and they work like they should. So the laptop is the problem. Long story short, I've let my laptop to update and the left audio channel worked, but again with lower sound than the right one. I went to boost the left channel and got to 100 and left one stopped working again as I've got to 100. I have downloaded the new driver to laptop from Lenovo website (I have Lenovo g505s) and haven't installed it yet because I'm kind of lost where to install it. I installed all drivers when I installed Windows, but this is kind of a problem to me because I don't know which driver is the problematic one (I went to device manager and don't know the difference between "audio inputs and outputs" and "sound, video and game controllers").

Sorry for the long post to a probably simple solution, but these problems are always so specific with me and usual internet solutions are not useful.

When you download the driver, Laptops-and-netbooks :: Lenovo-G-Series-laptops :: Lenovo-G505s-Notebook - Lenovo Support (US) it comes down as a .exe file, just double click it or Run it and it will install to the proper place.
Try a different set of speakers, clean the pin contact.

I've been trying to fix the audio driver on my custom build. The audio works fine for most programs, but for the Elgato Game Cap software I get no signal. When I go into the Device Manager under the sound, video and game controllers tab, 'VIA High Definition Audio' works fine but the 'High Definition Audio Device' has a caution sign and says the device cannot start. I've tried updating, uninstalling, reinstalling, disabling, downloading drivers from Realtek, but so far nothing has worked. I've used a couple of driver programs as well but those didn't work either.

Any help on the matter is greatly appreciated.

Particulars: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, Intel i5 3570k cpu, Gigabyte GA-Z77 mobo.

A:Audio Driver Problem

In most cases (all I've seen) if its just "High Definition Audio Device that is usually a generic Windows installed driver. What video do you have? With the i5, it has built in Intel HD Video and also HDMI Audio. You should also be showing Intel HDMI Audio in the Device Manager.

More PC Spec's are needed.

It sounds like the PC sound is working OK and the issue is with the Elgato software.

I have a GA Z77X UD5H motherboard (with RealTek audio).

Your problem may have as much to do with memory as to Sound.
I would suspend or remove your audio drivers in the device manager, then download and install new drivers. I think you need to replace the drivers to rule them out as part of the problem.
Then I would check all your sockets related to audio, because using incorrect sockets is one of the most common of all computer user problems.
Then I would go back to your Sounds and Audio Devices in the Control panel, and Restore the Default Settings.
Once you have it working in Default mode, you can re-establish the setup you prefer.

If i look in device manager, i see that its installed the driver for SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio. My volume control in the taskbar also remains with an x.

any ideas on a fix for this, its quite urgent and i need audio drivers.

Hi,
Recently I had a mishap with the Creative X-FI driver 7-30-2009 update, and I can no longer hear sound in Windows 7. As a result from this, most of my audio drivers/Creative X-Fi programs ended up deleted. At that point, I tried to uninstall my audio card from device manager and restart to get the original, default drivers back. However, this ended up making my card (X-Fi Titanium) unrecognized by device manager. I attempted to reinstall the 7-30 update but it ended up blue-screening my computer. I system restored, and luckily most, if not all the drivers and programs are back. Is it safe to try to reinstall the audio card via device manager again? If not, is there a better, safer way to get the sound working again?
Thanks very much in advance.

A:Audio driver problem .

deaps welcome to the forums.

You didn't say where you downloaded the drivers from but it sounds like you didn't go directly to Asus. Go here,

ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

click on Downloads, select your OS (Vista 32 bit in your case), then select the drivers you need.

I purchaced a Sony Viao PCG-6GBP in another country. I installed windows xp pro on it. I don't have have sound now. I tried to find drivers for it, but I don't know what kind of soundcard is in it.

This is what I found out in Device Manager, under "Other devices", where is a "PCI Device" with a yellow ?! mark next to it. When I get "Properties" from it, it shows Unknown under Manufacturer, and it tells me no drivers have been installed on it.

However, under the "Details" tab, I see this:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2668&SUBSYS_81CC104D&REV_03\3&B1BFB68&0&D8

How can I find out wht kind of soudcard I have, and also how do I fix it?

Thanks for your help

Omid

I just recently formatted my computer and went to Windows XP pro instead of home like I had before. Well anyways my problem is that I try to play music and it says no audio device is attached. I know for a fact my sound card is working fine because I was using it right before I formatted. How do I get my audio devices working again? My audio driver is just a factory one that came with my computer, Legacy I think, not too sure though. Thanks.

Still haven't solved this issue: http://forums.techguy.org/all-other-software/1038300-xp-pro-problem-realtek.html

and was hoping someone could help, tried everything I can think of, and lots of things others have suggested, but still I have no sound.

My audio device comes up in device manager as 'Multimedia Audio Controller' but has a little "!" on it. When I try to update the drivers, it automatically installs Realtek AC97, but at the end of the installation, the computer blue-screens.

I downloaded the correct drivers for my PC (Realtek HD) from the Packard Bell website, and though the installation process finishes, nothing changes. I still have the 'Multimedia Audio Controller' with the "!" and if I go to 'Sounds and Audio Devices' it says 'No Audio Device'.

I've been without sound on my computer for months now, if you can help, please please do. Thank you.

Go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the Device Manager any devices with yellow flags need to have drivers installed. The Driver for your computer should be the SoundMax driver. Download the Chipset and SoundMax driver for your model and any other drivers you require from the Device Manager. HP 2133 Mini-Note PC*-* Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center

A:Problem installing AUDIO DRIVER

Hi,

Run the Windows Update before reinstalling driver.

Go to system manufacturer’s website and look for latest driver, Download - SAVE - right click and
RUN AS ADMIN. REBOOT after each driver installation.

Sound drivers often rollback so check the version after installation and the reboot to
see if the version you installed is there, if not repeat the install - reboot until it is. It can take
several tries depending on how many rollbacks it does.

Also Right Click Speaker near clock - Playback Devices - right click in the box area - check
Show disable and disconnected devices. Highlight speaker and on the lower Right click
Properties check settings for Device Usage enabled and so on. Also do same for Configure
on Lower Left of that box.

I just installed WinXP Pro onto a new HDD with a new mobo. The entire install went fine. Before I installed the audio drivers from the disc that came with the mobo, I installed several audio codecs. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but my audio driver isn't working. If I go to the driver window where it should normally say: This device is working properly, it says something to the effect of: error 10. I've tried unintstalling it and reinstalling, with no change. I went into BIOS and switched from AC97 to Azalia for the audio, and it was set to Enabled.

This is an MSI mobo, MS 7508 or 7085 (not sure on the model #) with C-Media Azalia CMI9880L audio codec controller.

Any idea what I've missed?

Thanks for any help!

A:Audio driver/codec problem

I normally fix a problem like your's by deleting all Sound devices in Device Manager and reboot. Windows will re-discover it and then you can select Have Disk and install the drivers you have.

Good luck.

I was having trouble with my webcam's microphone not working so what I did was update my sound card's drivers via this site Gateway Support - Downloads & Support Documents - Desktop / GT Series / GT5620

I thought this would solve my problem but it actually lead to a much bigger one. Ever since I updated, my audio is no longer functioning. I have tried uninstalling my driver and installing again. I tried to update the drivers. I tried rollingback, disabling and enabling. I even tried using system restore but unfortunately my computer gives me and error message saying that the system restore points are corrupted. Every time I tried something different I would get the same results. In the device manager it said that everything was working and nothing had an exclamation point. I checked my sound settings via the control panel and it also said everything was functioning correctly but when I go to the volume mixer it just has a red "X" on the icon and when I open it it tells me that no devices are connected. At first I thought this may be a problem with my actual speakers so I plugged in my headphones from the jack in front of my tower and still no sound. So I am at a loss here and am now asking for your assistance.
